On the outside, a Suburban Wasteland. On the inside, an escape from said wasteland. This is a real cool spot. I was here for the Colorado Festival of Horror (COFOH) beer launch. That beer is called Redrum and it's a very solid Red Ale. I liked the Red Drink (a light farmhouse ale) even more. The loaded fries are solid bar food at a reasonable price. We had been wanting to try this place for some time. We knew it was between home and Fort Collins but the location couldn't be better. If you don't want to deal with all the congestion in Longmont this is your place. Easy on/off from I-25 just a couple miles west. We were on our way to see a concert at CSU and decided to stop for some dinner and a brew. This place delivered. My husband and I are both sci-fi geeks. The decor is fantastic. My inner geek was nerding out. We had our son with us so the three of us ordered dinner. He got the schnitzel sandwich on a pretzel bun with fries. They had an orange soda that he enjoyed. My husband got the Outworld Burger. A brisket burg with bacon, smoked cheddar, burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. For a side he tried Stoemp, a Belgian root veg mash. He said the burger was delicious but that root mash was the star. I stole a bite and I'll have to choose that side next time. Me? I saw pastrami and kraut and was sold. Purple cabbage kraut, grainy mustard, thinly sliced pastrami and Jarlsberg on griddled bread. Oh my! I opted for a side salad and ranch. My salad was fresh and had a nice variety of vegetables. Ok on to the beers. We got a flight to share and discuss. Baltalowda Baltic Porter had a nice malty flavor and was my personal fav. Starship Wallonia/Patrice's 1960 Belgian IPA hit the mark. Future Farmer Saison was a nice estery offering laden with berries. ValHellYeah (Kornøl), a collab with Mythmaker Brewing, is an "unboiled raw ale." Had to try that and had to get a crowler for our homebrew friends to try. In addition to our flight we shared a pint of Lup Garou Double IPA. This one was crowler worthy to take home as well. We also got a crowler of Black Is Beautiful 2 for later. The staff was welcoming and had knowledgeable answers to all our questions. This will definitely be a place we will go back to. read more

Longmont is lucky to have these folks in town. The theming and decor is amazing and you can tell that tons of work/love went into creating Outworld. The backstory (found on their website under "Lore") is also very cool. I'm not actually a beer drinker (I know, I know) so I'll leave that aspect to other reviewers. But the appetizers we shared were all very tasty! They also offer cool events like trivia, live music performances, and even a bookclub. You can tell this place really matters to the folks who run it! Staff were all kind and attentive. We were there during off-peak hours, but never felt neglected or like a bother. One note in case anyone in your party is not a beer lover: they do have cocktails but the selection is limited. They have a list on their website but I was told they don't always have ingredients to make them all. Honestly, I don't think that's strange because they are a BREWERY! Moroccan Zucchini. Order it. This was our first visit to the unique sci-fi themed brewery with good music and welcoming staff. I love beer, but not hoppy beer, so their selection was near perfect for me. Their Triple and Vienna Lager were lovely. But the food! We split the hush puppies (who still makes hush puppies?) and they were spot-on robust balls of cornmeal goodness with two complementary sauces -- we liked to combine the two. We wanted another appetizer and were intrigued by the Moroccan Zucchini. We were blown away by the intermingling of flavors. After traveling through six different states recently and mostly hitting pretty solid breweries the entire time this brewery, Outworld wins out on my favorite brewery that I paid a visit to. For one thing I'm an enormous sci-fi geek and this brewery is themed towards that. The atmosphere gives you the impression that you are on a space ship, perhaps a luxury liner admiring planet rings, comets and nebula. Speaking of nebula I got their Green Ring Nebula which is a Green Chile beer which was phenomenal! That also contributed to my high favoritism of this place. I was also in need of a snack and got some really good French Fries, a small portion of them as I didn't want a large amount of them. Service was great too! I was so enthralled I bought one of their shirts but could see myself purchasing all of their shirt options as I love the neon cyberpunk look they had to them which is a weakness of mine with clothes purchases. This is such a cool brewery. Outworld makes the official beer for the Colorado Festival of Horror. So, I had tried their beer at the fest. But, this place blew my mind when I finally made it to the tasting room. The tasting room has a space-y feel. There are tables in round pods. It's super cool. They serve German fare, like sausage platters and soft pretzels. The sausage platter was great. Several different types of sausage and dipping sauces. First of all, I want to say I was super excited to finally try this place because a.) it's queer friendly and b.) it's nerdy and my husband and I are those things. we were excited to finally support a local business. The website and communication on their social media accounts needs to be updated to include that not only do they not offer their cocktails, they currently don't have about half of the food menu available due to "kitchen overhaul." I think maybe something else is going on because they offered dinner salads but not side salads and offered fish but not shrimp? It's weird. None of that would have mattered if the quality of the food we did order was good but it wasn't. The salad was brown, the fries, while PERFECTLY crispy, were way too salty. And the sandwich my husband had looked like it was made with wonder bread. It was the saddest sandwich I've ever seen. If we go again, we'll just get drinks and maybe a pretzel. Unless the business updates their website and social media and say they've upgraded their food, we won't eat again. $100 down the drain for nothing. read more

But they are not nailing it. Let's first talk about what worked... Atmosphere is cool. It is quirky and eclectic, with all the right nerdy nuances. Games, isolated booths, an event space where you can game with your friends, all packed in a brewery with beer tanks visible. Service was good. Danielle was polite and nice and helpful. And attentive. Where it fell short... Music was too electric and too loud. You could barely hear or talk over it. Food was ok. Wings were tasty but overcooked. Pretzel was good but cheese was cold. Sandwiches were ok but either had too much mustard you couldn't taste anything else, or not enough to taste. French fries were meh. Again, really rooting for this place and want it to do well, but it feels like they need to slow down, revisit their formula and work on nailing the basics. read more

Gosh- I was so excited to try this place- I love finding new breweries- especially quirky out of the way (world?) type places. And with the pub pass I've been having fun exploring breweries of the northern front range. First of all, my partner is vegetarian and they didn't have the one vegetarian entree available- not a great look for Colorado. So she got a pretzel and some hush puppies. They said they didn't have the beer cheese for the pretzel, so she said mustard was fine. Weirdly, it came out with beer cheese anyway. Also my partner doesn't drink- they had no NA beers, so she got a ginger ale. But it was so watered down it was hard to tell if it was a ginger ale at all. The pretzel was good- def worth getting again. The hush puppies were not bad. I am an IPA fiend- I know classic Coloradoan amirite? I tried their double IPA and I was not impressed- not hoppy, and had an odd taste- and not in an out of this world kinda way. So I tasted a hazy IPA, again, really disappointing. Weak flavor profile, not complex at all, and it just ends, not the full-bodied hazy fest I was wanting. So I went with the black IPA, which was decent. But not worth going back for... Here's the real kicker- I got a burger with fries. Apparently it is described as a brisket burger. The food took FOREVER to come out. When it finally did - I was so hungry and then immediately so disappointed. The fries were clearly just your standard frozen crinkle cut - not even salted. And I barely got a single handful of them. The burger was overcooked and honestly nothing special at all. For $17 I could have cried. We will not be back. The atmosphere is really cool. Like really cool. But it's all style and no substance. If you go here get the beer, probs not the IPAs, dabble in an app or two if you dare, but don't take a foray in to tentrees and don't expect the food the come out at the speed of light. It'll take eons and eons. The staff are very friendly though- so that is a win. read more

Note: I've gotten to know the owner Brenda and here's a little inside baseball: Like all small businesses, Outworld has struggled since COVID to make it so that's probably why the hours are a bit limited (W-Sat). Also Brenda works during the day as a corporate attorney and then works all evening at Outworld so she is working non-stop to make a go of this wonderful venue so I tell everyone I know to go there and I host events for my Meetup group there all the time. The sci-fi seating and futuristic bar will fulfill any Star Wars fan. Not only does this brewery boast impressive decor for sci-fi fans, but also have fun theme nights for fans of every niche. When my sister and I went for a Halloween dinner, our waitress donned an amazing Ripley costume from Alien, complete with an alien bursting from her chest. They had a Japanese horror night that was a lot of fun to participate in. Something that sets this brewery apart from others is the food...It is delicious! The schnitzel sandwich is a real standout. I really wanted to like this place - a small brewery with an unusual ambiance? Unfortunately it disappointed on all fronts. We had to wait about 10min before anyone brought us food menus and took our beer order, despite an abundance of wait staff gossiping by the entrance. Then our food arrived before my beer did - even though we saw 3 bartenders chatting amongst themselves (and not pouring any beer) for at least 10min after our beer order was put in... once it arrived, the beer itself was so-so. Then the food was tasty but the rice was undercooked and crunchy... do you really trust a kitchen that can't even cook rice correctly??!?!? I don't... Finally, despite the "sci-fi" style interior decoration, our booth was blasted with obnoxious folksy fiddle music the whole time... it was just a super weird juxtaposition. The best cocktail ever!!!! I am beyond picky about cocktails but oh my!! The Superpink (watermelon mint margarita) is hands down the best drink I've ever had. Their beers were amazing too and we loved how we could just pick the 5oz and try them as we go. The watermelon salad wasn't amazing. We wouldn't get that again. But their burger was good and so were their fries. Even if the food sucked, that drink would still land it as a 5 star place in my book. Out of this world cocktails!! We loved the ambience too. We went early on a Tuesday. Only one other table was in use with a group of businessmen. I had a chance to visit with some of the staff and look around a bit. The beer menu was excellent with some very creative craft beers, all made in their state of the art brewery which is visible through the windows. Brewmaster is from Scotland I was told. My double IPA was an excellent West Coast style. Wife had a good Hefeweizen. Food leans toward Cajun cooking which is to be expected. It is owned by African-Americans according to a recent CBS News account. My Cajun rice was very good and a more than adequate portion. The wife's chicken sandwich was reportedly very good as well. I really want these guys to make it a success. The beer menu alone is worth more than one trip, and if the food is as good as our choices, they should do just fine. The location is away from town and parking is no problem. It looks a bit like a warehouse from the outside, but is much larger than it looks. They have been adding live music at times, a trivia night and other attention getters. Recommended. read more

So we checked this new place out. We were early on a Wednesday. Got great service and the food was awesome. The menu is different in a good way. We had Sausage Sandwiches and sides. The sausages, (there are 5 choices) are homemade and delicious. I had Pommes Fritts as a side and my wife had the Brussel sprouts. Both were outstanding. Service was friendly and prompt. Again the menu looks great. We'll be back to try more! I'm looking forward to the Poutine. It's looks authentic just brown gravy and cheese curds no other sauces or green chili like so many places serve. Oh, they will be having live music as things open up. read more

Mediocre Beer and Poor Service. There are so many brew pubs in the area that are better, save your money and drive by this one. Many items on our order were incorrect, here are just two of them. Ordered the Midnight Robber Stout 16oz, described as jet black and tan head, the beer was dark red, had no head and 10oz. The waitress insisted this was the correct beer. I had a CraftTapped BOGO coupon for beer, they accepted the coupon when I ordered but when it came to closing out my check they couldn't figured out how to remove one beer from the check. 15 minutes of chaos followed, they gave me a cash refund for the one beer. It absolutely breaks my heart to have to give 2 stars to a brewery whose beer I honestly think is the best in the Longmont area. That being said, the quality of beer alone cannot keep a brick and mortar facility alive on its own. YOU HAVE TO HAVE DESCENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Unfortunately, this establishment does not agree. Their hours are strange (they do not reflect what is posted online). And we sat in the establishment for 30 minutes tonight without our server ever acknowledging us. When we finally got up to leave, an employee chased us down...to hand us a schedule of events, not to try and maintain our patronage. That shows us they knew we were there, but didn't care until they realized they were losing our business, if at all. So sad because I really do love their product, but I'm done. read more
