We like stouts, therefore we like Verboten Brewing. It's that simple. "Darkness" bourbon-barrel aged Irish coffee stout is really good. "Darkness Cellar Reserve" is fantastic, and well worth the extra dollar. Both are STRONG beers and strongly suggest you limit yourself to no more than 2. Ask me how I know! We haven't tried all their stouts yet, so I am not recommending the Darknesses above any others - yet. They don't serve food here, but their neighbors do, and it's pretty cool. You can scan a QR code on your table and order food delivered. The cool part is, they know exactly which table to bring it to - the QR code is that specific. Nice use of tech! read more

This is always a must do! Verboten makes wonderful beers and uses local ingredients to do it. If you find yourself in Loveland, do yourself a favor and stop in for a brew. Make sure to try the barrel aged offerings. Their taproom is in the downtown part of Loveland. There is street parking. They have a rotation of food trucks that come throughout the week. There is no shortage of great breweries around the front range, but this one stands out from the crowd. The core beers are always well made, and true to the "Barrel Project" portion of the name, they always have a couple very impressive aged offerings. The small taproom is cool and service friendly. No food, but several places nearby with good takeout and some even will bring the food over. read more

I've always enjoyed Verboten's beer, though this was the first time I got to check out their taproom. It was great! The staff was really friendly and the beer was cold--as an added bonus, I learned you can order Comet Chicken on your phone from the taproom (QR codes are provided) and have it delivered right to your table! Score! Thinking of Something Orange is a deliciously citrusy, light beer that paired well with my veggie Bahn mi sandwich from Comet. It also paired well with sitting in the sunshine. What's nice about Verboten is their garage-door style storefront which allowed us to take in the fresh air though we were still technically inside and the patio was full. So hands down, Verboten is my favorite craft brewery in Loveland and in the top 5 for northern Colorado! The beer is superb and award winning! Especially when they drop their barley wines and barrel Aged ales! Few can rival what they have going on! As far as flagships, Stealth Haze and TOSO (Thinking Of Something Orange) are must try's. Here goes: Verboten Brewing has been on my radar since 2015 when I met the Head Brewer at Collaboration Fest! I rarely find myself in Loveland; so it's taken me 3 years to make my way to their awesome taproom! Seeking to do a little post-hike Loveland Brew-venture my fellow brewery goer and I made Verboten Brewing our first stop! SPACE/VIBES: Where do I even begin?! There's so much to love. Exposed brick everywhere. A private tasting room. Small dog-friendly patio out front. Great decor. Plus a killer selection of merch! I def left with a sweater. Not to mention all the super friendly regulars. Oh, and there's ample parking in the area. Yay! BEERTENDERS: Friendly AF! Upon checking my ID he put together that my last name was a style of beer. He joked and said I, "must get that all the time." In reality - I don't. After spending roughly five years in the Colorado brewery scene he was the first to make that association. Ha! We had a good laugh over that one. He made great conversation throughout our visit and was very attentive to all the brewery's patrons. BREWS: Upon browsing the menu, I was really stoked. Seriously, such a killer line up! There was a variety if IPAs, Blondes, Kolschs, and more. We both opted for full pours of Then You Roast the Mallow, a collaborative brew with The Hop Grenade in Fort Collins. It was lighter than most s'more-esque brews I've had and a touch sweeter. I also grabbed a small sample of the Angry Banjo a Kentucky Common they have on tap regularly. Def something to try, though I doubt I would have a full pour of it, just not my style. BITES: While they don't offer a kitchen of their own; they do have more options than most breweries for those hungry bellies. Various popcorns, cheese boards, pretzels, chips and salsa are just a few of their offerings. Verboten Brewing DEF exceeded my expectations. Great bartenders and fun experimental brews. Food is available from nearby restaurants. We walked next door to get "eat in" chicken, and just carried in over to the brewery. The "Thinking of Something Orange" Wheat AND "Tres Nueces" colab aged stout with nuts etc were both very good and cost about 3 bucks each. I'd return for sure if i lived in the area. read more

Verboten is a cool spot in Loveland and technically it's the only place we stopped at in Loveland, but whatever. There is a decent amount of indoor seating as well as a small patio out front. The tasting room is on the small side but I doesn't feel that way. Some of the beers we've had include "I'm a Pickle". This beer is so interesting! I loved this one! A pickle beer with cucumber juice and additional spices. So unique and tasty! Two Fives American IPA and German Chocolate Cake are also very good. I couldn't have too much of the GCC one though, as my body doesn't handle milk stouts very well. The beertender was okay. She did her job but didn't try to interact with us much. Every single patron gave us the side-eye, I guess we had "Chicago suburbanites" written on our foreheads. I could feel every eye on me when we left. Not a very welcoming vibe in this brewery which is unfortunate because I do love their beer and the spot itself is very chill. Regardless of that, I definitely plan to stop back again. We stopped in for a quick beer while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. It's in a great location in downtown Loveland and they had lots of options! The bartender was super friendly and helpful with recommendations, we tried the Orange Blossom Honey Wheat (Thinking of Something Orange) and loved it! The place has a great open concept with plenty of seating for its size; they were advertising a comedy night which we weren't able to attend, but we are always on the lookout for places and events just like that. Continuing our brewery tour in Loveland, CO, we stopped at Verboten. First of all, super cool name (means forbidden in German I think?). Also, thought it was cute that they were playing reruns of Cheers in the bar (get it??). They have a new rotating draft called The Tiramisu Little Nonsense, oatmeal imperial stout. It's a whopping 11 %, and deliciously sweet. One is the easiest stouts to drink. I also really liked the Roll in Ze Blueberries, a 5.2% sour gose. It is not overpowering with the blueberry flavor, but definitely makes you pucker! I like sours, so I would definitely get this beer again. They also have bingo occasionally, and trivia once a week. It's a really fun place to check out in downtown Loveland. read more

My buddy and I were driving around in the dark and were confused until he pulled up Googlemaps on his phone and off we went to the new place! It was dark, but the brewery is easy to find, right off the street. Great beer and atmosphere...one the great things about the place? You can "can" your favorite beer (32oz?) and take it home without not needing to bring your growler. Pretty good atmosphere and décor, even better beer! I liked the IPA that I brought home a "can." We started our brewery tour of Loveland here and it was a great start! They have a lengthy tap list (16!) with a wide variety of styles. Lots of varied seating, including patio, and a large side room. The only complaint I have is the type of chairs they have, which are VERY common these days. They are so uncomfortable. Please get more comfortable chairs or at least chairs with no arms. The tap room manager was a true delight to speak with. My two favorites were the Somebody to Love Brut IPA (they were the first to brew a Brut in CO and this one is sooooo good) and the Mountain Man. I would come back for these two alone. Cool space, friendly people, delicious beers, what more could you ask for? read more

On my most recent Fort Collins/Loveland brewery tour, I made sure to poke my head into Verboten Brewery since I met one of their reps at GABF this past year and wanted to support their endeavor. VB is tucked away in an industrial area, which most breweries seem to be these days. Tiny, but welcoming, VB can hold probably a few dozens people, so be prepared to get cozy with your neighbors. As any good beer lover should do upon trying a new brewery, my friend and I ordered up their flight sampler. Everything was pretty solid, especially since they've only been open for a week! My favorite was the French Kiss and the stout. I'm not a fan of IPAs, but the IPA drinkers around me thought theirs was a good start, but could be hoppier. I really enjoyed my visit to Verboten! The small staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming! And they were already connecting with local food trucks, as there was a grilled cheese truck outside tempting my Wisconsin taste buds, which is always a happy pairing in the beer-food truck world. With interesting things to try like the traditional oatmeal stout alongside the oatmeal stout aged in bourbon barrels, you definitely will not be bored here. Caramel porter, orange blossom honey wheat, Lemongrass wit, Belgian Trippel made with Pear Puree, everything here is firing on all cylinders.
