How exciting! Outlets only 30 min away from home! I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by these outlets. 1. Great selection: Banana Republic, J.crew, Gap, Ralph Lauren, CK, Tommy Michael Kors, Coach Kitchen Collection, Pottery Barn, Nike, Reebok, sunglasses, jewelry, baby... The outlets weren't too big nor were they too small. Anything that you need is here. I also noticed that, for example, the Banana Republic had much better selection and newer merchandise compared to the Outlets at Orange. We also found some super great sales!! 2. Location: It's just off of the 5 freeway before it splits into the 99 coming north. Only a small selection in the food court, but Chipotle, Del Taco, Yogurtland, etc are just on the other side of the freeway. Plenty of gas stations and even a hotel! 3. Cleanliness: Granted it's been open only about 2 weeks, but the stores were very orderly and all of the associates super friendly. Just be patient as I could tell some of them were brand new employees. 4. Speaking of cleanliness, the bathrooms were super exquisite. From the tile work to everything touch-free to even there being places to put your shopping bags in the stalls, this outlet did a fantastic job. Bravo! Haha I can't believe I'm complimenting them in the bathrooms... 5. Quietness: Yes, I went today, a Friday, when school is in session (on purpose, might I add haha). It was nice that it wasn't too crazy even though it is Labor Day wknd. Just go on a weekday for fewer problems with parking and lines. 6. Just a warning, be prepared to get a little sun. Not sure why they chose to build coverings over only half of the stores (minus one star for this), but it can get very hot in this area. Bring plenty of water!! Also be careful when sitting on the METAL benches, especially if they are in the sun... 7. Dewar's. If you are not from Bakersfield and have never heard of them, please try one of their candies. They are a Bakersfield treasure and are known for their taffy chews. Of the traditional flavors, I personally like the caramel, peppermint, almond, and peanut in that order. Great place to stop and stretch your legs if you're travelling on the 5 fwy. The stores are not too spread out like other outlet malls. It's your usual brand lineup: Gap, Sketchers, Tilly's, etc. There is abundant parking so you don't have to hike to get to your car. The only thing that was a little frustrating was the lack of signs leading you into and out of the complex. You almost have to use your instinct to navigate. I thought that was pretty odd. The typical discounts were buy one, get the second item for 50% off. Some stores just had a flat out discount on everything. I think we will be stopping here every time we travel. read more

Because I'm happyyyyy *singing, laughing and dancing* So yesterday my family and I were driving back to SF on the Grapevine when our AC decides to fail in triple digit temps. I was bitter. I was scorching. I was NOT happy. There was nothing that would make me smile again until my beautiful Bay Area fog wrapped it's arms around me. Until... This angelic harmony began playing in my ears as I turned to glance to the right. What, where, HOW did this amazing complex of top notch (air conditioned) premium outlets appear?! At that point I was convinced the hallucination has set in and I was doomed. STOP THE CAR!!!!! Wow this place is amazing. H&M Outlet? Michael Kors? POTTERY BARN OUTLET? Did I just buy an incredible Coach bag for $40.00?!? Indoor air conditioned food court with an adorable ice cream shop that served me a delightful root beer float when I needed it most? My husband and children were so HAPPY to have their old Mom back and the ride home was delightful. I can't wait to go back to LA and visit my old friends at Tejon. :) read more

Outlets at Tejon I dislike the word hate as it carries a really negative feeling or persona to it but I really hate shopping and will do it only for my wife and kids, this time around my kids needed some things so we came to the Outlets at Tejon. The drive from where I live is approximately 34 minutes give or take due to traffic, the drive is actually rather quick so I can't complain but you do have to figure out the path from the freeway to the actual outlet. There are 50+ stores and a few eating spots but I feel the layout of the outlet is a bit awkward compare to some I've been to down south. Do not get me wrong, it is laid out where you can walk it out in a rectangle path but just feels weird to me, maybe I haven't visited enough to feel familiar with it but it is just my opinion. I do think the parking lots are laid out fairly well around the outlet and there are a lot of spaces. I've been here several times but I have not seen it where it was hard to find a parking space, maybe I haven't visited near peak times? The primary reason for visiting an outlet is for the stores and they do have a decent variety but most of them are the normal ones you see at all outlets. The shoe stores range from Nike to Adidas to Famous Footwear and Converse but they have one I've never seen before called Rack Room Shoes, check my review for my thoughts on it. They also have quite the selection for apparel, Aeropostle, Banana Republic, Lane Bryant, Old Navy, Hot Topic and many more but again, nothing out of the norm from other outlets that separates them One thing that can make an outlet stand out and most people have mixed feelings for is their food court. With this outlet being just 30 minutes away from Bakersfield it was nice to see one local restaurant here. If you are familiar with the Bakersfield area, even more so Delano where it originated then you will know who Tony's Pizza is and they do have their own following. In the food court they also have a Juicy Burger, Subway and a China Max, China Max is comparable to a Panda Express. Other than Tony's Pizza there are no real standouts for eating, but don't fret since there are viable options within driving distance which you would see when exiting the off-ramp of the freeway. The outlet in its own right is nice but I think they could add more appeal to it, especially with it being a 30 minute drive from the nearest city. I would like to see more local support from the businesses in and around Bakersfield. I could have sworn there was a Dewars at this outlet but I couldn't find it the last time I was here. I think they need to create some type of coverage over the walkways for when it rains. Currently I do not believe there is coverage but I think they can use some type of retractable tarp of some sort. That could also provide some good shade when the sun is beaming in the summer and it feels like fire rays are hitting our heads and necks! The outlet is nice but still very new so I don't think it has created a good presence yet but has great potential especially for people traveling between the LA and Northern California area. It might be because I do not like to shop but this place just doesn't appeal for me, I think I would take a drive to other outlets.... read more

Over hyped as everything else that opens up around Bakersfield. Am I glad there is an Outlet Mall within a very reasonable driving distance of my home? Sure. They could have done so much more though. Most of the stores are small compared to other Outlet Malls so obviously that limits any good selection. The Nike Store is great if you don't mind only choosing between three different running shirts. The parking is also a mess. This could be mostly to do with the large crowds since it just opened but there were large areas in the parking lot with grass and dirt that could be used for parking spots. Instead they are wasting space and keeping people circling around for a spot when they could be spending money in your store. I don't know about you but when I go shopping I'm not worried too much about aesthetics in the parking lot. It also seems like the place is still under construction. The parking lot isn't finished in areas and there are no signs to point you in the right direction after exiting Laval Rd East. There is not even a real sign for the Mall at all and several stores have yet to be open. Maybe a few months down the road things will get better. However they can't change the size of the stores and because of that you won't have many options for things to buy. If you need something specific and want to save a few bucks then head out here. read more

For the last who knows how long every time I went down to LA I would always pass by this place... I finally left the 5 and decided to check it out. Overall not too bad. Customer service for the most part was stellar.. selection was a hit or miss (go figure.. outlet stores). We found some great Coach purses here for super ridiculous cheap... cheaper than our usual Gilroy outlet store... Plenty of parking! read more

Restrooms are fairly clean. They have family restrooms with kid size toilets and sinks, as well as adult size too. They have a food court with restaurants like wing stop, a burger place, etc. they also have a small play area for little kids/toddlers. Parents can sit on the perimeter and eat or charge their phones. Some of the stores we visited were pottery barn, adjdas, Nike, coach, Michael kors, and banana republic. read more

Loved it! Not as crowded as the mall here in Santa Clarita or Los Angeles. Most stores offer military/veteran discounts, but you just have to ask for it. The bathrooms were clean and they had lots of stalls available. Favorite ice cream parlor: Dewars!!!!!! I went to BHS where Dewars was just walking distance! I would definitely drive the 1 hr from Santa Clarita on a summer day. Loved how Coach outlet and Michael Kors outlet is walking distance. They both offered competitive prices. It's ok for a pit stop if you are driving by, but it's small and doesn't have enough store variety to make it a destination otherwise. My family travels quite often from Orange County to the bay area. We always come here on our way back to wait out the traffic in LA area. I love that this place is never crowded when we come. Lots of sports stores like puma, addidas, nike. Oh and we love checking out Lids because often times they have hidden gem of a hat that's super expensive in the bay but not here! Wish the food court was better but we love the play area for kids.. my son plays here for a few hours so he sleeps in the car all the way home. Its clean and never too crowded. The bathrooms are huge too! Super clean and family friendly. Better than any rest stops that's for sure. read more

Worst outlets. They have a decent selection of shops, but their staff is horrible. We went into Pottery Barn and it was very tight with space. Then, we were rudely spoken to by an older lady who worked there. She didn't even make eye contact with us when she made her rude comment. We just walked out of there. We went into Sketchers, found a few shoes to purchase, and waited 15+ minutes for the staff to return from the back. We could have walked out of there with their merchandise, and they wouldn't even know. Odd thing is, the staff (a male and a female) saw us walk in, but still went to the back and disappeared for a good 30 minutes. Horrible horrible horrible. I've never experienced anything like this at Citadel Outlets, which isn't too far away. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 1.5-2 hours to outlets where you'll actually be treated like a consumer. read more

I can see why I've not come to this place - the lack of shops. Yes, the Outlet are still young and growing but after a year, you would think that more stores would have set up shop but they haven't. This shopping location is more "mall-ish" than outlets. I guess the only redeeming quality of these outlets is that the employees at the different stores and the outlet employees are courteous and friendly. The stores and the overall appearance of the outdoor mall are quite impressive. The level of cleanliness is quite impressive...with so many visitors, there should be a lot of tagging or littered with trash - who would have thought? By far, these outlets have been a disappointment. The only store that was worth going to was Dewars. You can't go wrong there....while shopping or waiting for your party, you can enjoy some nice Dewar's ice cream or some of their chews or you can mosey on over to the food court area, eat something and rest for a bit. During this visit, I stopped off at Tony's Pizza. Thinking that the pizza would be at a high calibre as those of the local pizza chain, I ordered. Boy was I disappointed. The pizza had no flavor, however it looked great....which pretty is a great metaphor for my experience at these outlets. Looks great but lacking in sales and stores worth shopping at. read more

Not bad, not bad at all. I don't recall seeing this place in the past, so I was excited to stop by on my way back from norcal. Perfect place to rest really. I have a 5 month old and a 6 year old. Having the family restrooms was definitely ideal and helpful when having to change a diaper and keep an eye on your kid. This alone after sitting in the car and wanting a clean restroom was great. Having a food court is also definitely a plus. We ate at the Chinese restaurant, something I do not recommend. There are other choices, wings, burgers, pizza and ice cream. Prices are a little higher than what you would expect but what do you expect? It's in the middle of no where. Speaking of, exit Laval road to get there. It was a nice break to stretch our legs and walk around and do a little quick shopping. It does get crowded there but considering people are just "stopping" by, people come and go quickly. Stores I remember seeing, coach, Michael kors, h&m, carters, gymboree, children's place, Pottery barn, Brooks brotjers, aeropostale, agaci, the rack, perfume store, and so much more. Went here on a Tuesday night before Thanksgiving week at 7PM. The music at the outlet areas as well as the stores was very loud. Why? Because no one was around to mute it out! This atmosphere is probably very different from that on the weekends or on major holidays like Black Friday or the few last shopping days of Christmas. Stores are decent. They do have a large H&M but I don't think it's an outlet as I can find some similar styles for the same price (or even cheaper) at my mall H&M. Food court is awesome as there is a wing stop and a Dewars. If you haven't tried Bakersfield's finest ice cream, you better try it here. I'm not a big shopper as my review of the Tulare Outlet Mall may show, but when my wife wanted to stop at the Outlets at Tejon Ranch, I didn't have much choice but to join in. I'm actually glad I did. With a wide variety of stores, there is something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the Columbia Sportswear outlet store and was happy to partake of some delicious chews from Dewar's. This is an easy stop right off Interstate 5 and gives you a chance to stretch your legs while walking around a true premium outlet mall. read more

The parking lot should be expanded, which I'm sure is only a matter of time. This does seem more like a regular mall rather than an outlet mall though... Nice new outlets at the base of the Grape Vine. For all you folks from Nor Cal, this outlet is almost identical to the outlets in Livermore (just not as many stores). Large selection of the brands you're looking for. Lots a parking and easy access on and off the freeway. As other people have mentioned, your dining options are limited but you're there to shop, not to eat. Would I be back? Maybe. If I was not in a rush to get home I'll be a detour here but plan on spending at least an hour here if you stop. read more

I did really want to give this place a good review. First off, I think the sports places are amazing: Puma, Adidas, Nike, etc. I love those brands and even if I can get $5 off of something from there it's a deal. We all know even Nike at Kohls just don't go on sale that often. I was back to school shopping for myself and I absolutely loved the Loft. I got my teacher discount and everything! I wasn't impressed with J. Crew, not much sales... I will just have to keep a look out in my emails for anything I can add on when I'm there. Anyways clothing shops were fine. Those were about a 4 because I really liked about 80% of the stores. Now, where Outlets At Tejon done messed up was the eating area. It had no light... and 4 places to choose from? I don't know, I thought it looked like an elementary school cafeteria in there. I opted out and decided to get home and go eat. Clean, with tons of shade and a pretty good selection of stores. Some stores had better outlet prices than others. Reebok had great prices on current items such as the nano 4.0, we bought one at a great price and got the second pair half off. Can't complain about that. H&M had a good selection of kids clothes with again, great outlet prices. The food court has a good little selection. Juicy Burger, Wing Stop, Tony's Pizza, Dewers and Chinese. Black Bear Diner and Carl's Junior are also in the same general area. Would I make the trip here again just to shop? Probably not. However I will definitely stop by on my trips from the Central Valley to SoCal. We found enough stores we liked with some good deals to make us happy to stop again. read more

A great place to stop at while your way back from La to Sacramento. You can take a bathroom break, shop a little, and grab a bite. Couple of places I enjoyed shopping at were H&M and pottery barn. Other then that, I did't really liked anything from any of the places. The prices weren't any less than they would have been at the original stores. The bathrooms are super clean, very roomy and have a section in each bathroom to place your shopping bags while using bathrooms. We didn't visit the food court but we stopped by the only mexican restaurant on site and loved it. Their portions sizes were great, and very tasty mexican food. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely stop by on our next trip back from LA. read more

Pluses: It's physically in the middle o'nowhere so there's always plenty of parking. Columbia outlet store has incredibly low prices. BIG Plus: every employee at any store I have visited has been more than friendly and polite, they were helpful. Employees seemed well trained, attentive, like they enjoyed working there. Employees seem aware of their merchandise and understand their store's discounts. Honestly if I would shop here exclusively if they had what I wanted which brings me to the Cons: Not as many stores as I expected. No Victoria Secret - - well, maybe that chain doesn't do outlet, but it's where I like to shop. Food court is pretty small. And I saw only one sit down restaurant. Hope that the outlet is still under construction because I do believe more stores will draw more business for all, but as is, may not be enough stores to keep people coming. Maybe this is unreasonable to hope for in an outlet mall but I would love to see a restaurant or kiosk that was non-franchise.
