WORST customer service EVER!! I was highly recommended to give this shop a visit by a friend. I drove to San Diego from Palm Springs to check it out. Walked in there with well over a grand looking for a nice peice. I was not even greeted as I walked in. I was looking at one piece in particular that was priced at around $1,250 and was going to buy it. They do have some nice pieces. Stood around to see if anyone would help and all the employees were just huddled together talking among themselves. I took my money elsewhere and got a nice piece in the end. Staff was really friendly. I was worried in such a big shop that I wouldn't be able to get a one-on-one consultation, but all I had to do was ask! Be wary of buying glass pieces here. Myself and many others have had the glass break right away.I bought a $50 glass bubbler and I got home used it, sat it on the coffee table and noticed a huge crack along the entire piece. I have many glass pieces so I know how to treat them. I think the glass blower is using inferior glass or cheap glass. read more

Okay, so the experiences that I've had at outer limits have never been horrible but i can't describe them as being "good" exactly. I walked into outer limits to pick up a new atomizer for my vape and as i walked in I wasn't greeted (per usual) but i managed to flag down an employee. I asked to see a couple attys and finally decided on a Mutation XS mini. Before I purchased it I asked the employee "These are Authentic right? Because I know you guys sell a lot of clones and you're selling this for the authentic price." He replied with a "Yeah man, it's forreal". Okay, I decided I could trust him since he was also vaping and a fellow vaper would never intentionally misinform another vaper. I get home and break open the box and as i take the top cap off to unscrew the pins what do I see? ONE OF THE POSITIVE SCREWS IS DRILLED INTO THE CENTER BLOCK AT AN ANGLE AND IS TOUCHING THE NEGATIVE POST. This creates what is known as a SHORT , is extremely dangerous, and is the telltale sign of a clone. I decided to take it back the next day and inform the manager that her employee had knowingly sold me a clone and told me it was an authentic and that I needed her to either exchange it for the same model that had proper machining or I needed a refund. I went in the very next day and let her know and she replied with "No,sorry. Leave. Goodbye". I was dumbfounded. I am fully aware of their "All Sales Are Final" policy but surely she could have made an exception for something that could have very well have taken my face off if I hadn't noticed it and fired it on a Mechanical Mod. I told her "Ma'm, what your employee sold me was faulty equipment as well as potentially dangerous. Do you understand that? If I was your average dipshit teenager and i built coils on it and fired it then it would have shorted and quite possibly taken my face off. All I need is either an exchange or a refund." her response was exactly the same as last time. So I gave her an ultimatum: A replacement or a Yelp Review and some strong words. Well, needless to say I threw that little detonator cap away and she got a few choice words and now I'm out 40 bucks and Outer Limits is oh so much closer to becoming a one star business. Aw man, come on Outer Limits! This is my second update, reducing to 2 stars because my last visit felt like my first visit (a one star experience). Once again I found a staff that was too apathetic for a specialty store and offensive music blaring from the speakers. Would it kill y'all to put on some reggae or 311 at a moderate volume? I would love to be able to communicate with your employees without having to ask them to repeat themselves several times. I realize that it is your right to play music with misogynistic lyrics at a loud volume but when I leave Outer Limits with a purchase I feel... bad. Bad about my choice to spend money there, bad about myself, and feeling like I burdened y'all in some way by stepping through your doors. To be honest I have not found any smoke shops which truly meet my expectations yet so I will likely continue to reluctantly shop here because of the fabulous selection. Despite the somewhat uncaring staff I have to admit they are knowledgeable and I assume they are egregiously underpaid so I can't be too hard on them. Be warned Outer Limits! I bought a birthday gift for my brother and he decided he wanted a different one, they were so gracious accepting the return and letting me pick out a different one, their huge selection is amazing almost too many to choose from. I've had generally good experience before, but only dealing with one employee who seems to care. Today I went in, and had to wait for 15 minutes before someone acknowledged my presence. And when they did, I didn't get a hello, I got a "You ready yet?". I brushed thus off and asked for Japanese cotton, she looked dumfounded. She pretended to look, and found nothing. I asked for any sort of wicking material, and she said no. Amazing they have such a vaping selection, yet their staff is so unwilling to help. imoved up to North County a lil over 3yrs ago. There aren't too many smoke shops around in my area. So ilooked up Outer Limits Smoke Shop an it happened to be only 11 mins away from my place. So icruised on in. Off tha rip tha products they carry are all superior an great quality products. After going spending my money with them over tha yrs. ive bought everything from small glass to big glass pieces, multiple vaping options, countless tobacco packs and all tha other lil chingaderas. Tha 3 employees that mainly help me have been Vinnie, Larry an JP. Vinnie always helps me with my tobacco needs. He is very informed about tha products they carry. Larry has everything you need to know about any vaping device ever made haha no lie. JP tha other gentleman jus seems to know about everything in general, including basketball. its always a great feeling to see friendly faces and have a small convo about sports, life, musik whatever, and know your getting tha best products. Outer Limits is pretty cool, they've got a wide selection and I often come in to just look around -- all the people who said this is a "glass museum" are very right. The quality of the glass, however, isn't very impressive. I'm sure with the pricier pieces you get what you pay for, but when you're looking only at water pipes that are under $200, your selection is limited. I've been through three separate water pipes purchased from here in the last several months. It seems like it takes almost nothing to break them. One broke when it fell over onto the carpet, another when I bumped it (not very hard!) with my knee, and most recently, one shattered as I was pulling out the downstem. In years of owning many pieces, none have broken so easily as the ones purchased here. If you ask to hold and inspect any of the water pipes (at least the ones in the $200 range), you'll find they feel unsettlingly light and flimsy. Additionally, I bought a glass nail here and it shattered within a week, just from heating it. My one other problem would be the customer service, or lack thereof. For the most part the staff seem young, inexperienced, and perpetually stoned. They have trouble answering simple questions. My friend and I went in and asked about the differences between several types of percolators, and their only response was "it's all about preference, really." Um, okay, but what are the differences? "Like I said, it's just up the individual person." Right, but what ARE the differences that CAUSE people to have a preference in one direction or the other?? Soo frustrating. We tried again with a different employee, with the same result. All in all, they have an excellent selection and I imagine if you're willing to spend a little extra money, you'll leave satisfied. However the quality of some of the "cheaper" pieces and the lack of customer service are the reason I'm giving three stars instead of five. read more

Outstanding selection of scientific glass, much of which I had never seen before. Seems like the counter girls couldnt tell a showerhead from a tree but I guess that's what the old guy is there for. Great concentrate equipment selection also. Super low prices and it even seems like the owner will work with you on the pricier items. (1000$+) read more

Not my first time here. Not my last. Most amazing and incredible smoke shop anywhere. You won't find a better selection and you won't find staff who know the product like they do here. I always have questions - they always have answers. Even had a dealing a few moons back with the owner on something that wasn't 100 percent and he personally made it right, Thank you. I make the drive here because it's worth it. They truly have everything. I've brought out of town friends here to get E-Hookahs and other supplies and they are all just blown away. I'm only rating it 3 stars because the Asian woman that "helped" us couldn't explain anything. I asked her for one tin of Starbuzz Tobacco and she handed me 6 cans of it. This little smoke shop on the edge of the Oceanside/Carlsbad border serves it's purpose well enough, it's got what I need and I'm usually in and out within 15 mins. The parking lot is very small and difficult to get into should the store be busy. The customer service is hit or miss, I often come in as they're opening up so I see store employees opening new product and slowly pricing them. They're not quick to help, but they do ring you up quick and wrap my purchases carefully and quickly. I'm not here to make friends just buy what I need at the moment. read more

They have EVERYTHING a stoner would need. Customer Service is just average though and I think they would do much better sales wise if they had a different crowd working the counter. I think somebody's mom was working there and a few other oddballs. A real pro could have sold me a lot more than what I purchased today. I went to Outer limits a couple of days ago and bought a pipe. When I returned home and took off the price tag sticker, I noticed a sizable chip in the glass that they had covered up. Just goes to show the kind of scummy people that work there. So just a heads up, thoroughly check the quality of your purchase yourself because they will try to screw you over. read more

This is my first time at a vape shop. I was visiting california. The place is huge and yes, I agree with most here that there are tons of "water pipes" I asked if they were "bongs" and they said, we call them "water pipes" LOL Of course I have never used one but pretty impressive selection. They do have a lot of e-liguid which is what I was there for. The girl who helped me was off duty but was kind enough to help me because it was quite busy when I went. Not a lot of samples like at other vape places I went to while in Cali but a lot to choose from IF you don't care to try them. read more

The only reason I would ever come back to this shop is if my female piece breaks. The only issue I really have with this store is that sometimes you get ignored - when wife and I were here we were waiting at a counter for 5 minutes with 2 employees a few feet away. This place is an absolute shit hole. Staff is dumber than a pile of nails. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. I'm looking for a piece of glass that retails for more than $250 to match my current setup. I call ahead to see if they have any matching pieces in stock. The guy said he had 4 of what i was looking for in various colors. I drove 40 minutes to go spend $250 on it. When i get there i ask them about the micro illadelph ashcatcher that they SAID they had in stock in white. Dude points to a full size white label ashcatcher. Absolutely pathetic. He said they had 4 and they only had 2 of the size i was looking for. Remember this is the 2nd time this has occurred. A staff that doesn't even know what's on their own fucking shelves when all they have to do is look over their shoulder. Owner needs to close the shop and fire all the idiots that work there. If you're looking for high end glass consider this as your last place because they will probably confuse an $3k piece of American made glass for a $20 piece of shit China. great place, huge selection of everything glass to ease your smoking desires.... i mean seriously huge! i have been to smoke shops all over the country, which i just realized while writing this review haha, and this is one of the biggest selections i have stumbled upon. yeah it can be a little crowded with some extra stoner merch, but who cares?!? hookah tobacco selection is good (starbuzz is crap ppl, and overpriced everywhere!!!), accessories were there, but the service is a little lacking. whenever i finally do get service though it is always helpful and pleasant. they probably get tired of dealing with broke ass stoner burnouts all day who just wander aimlessly and trip out on all the water pipes they aren't gonna buy cause they cant afford. so by the time a serious customer walks in the ppl behind the counter don't really know what to do, haha... read more

Yes, this place has an excellent selection. And in defense of the employees- there's a lot of foot traffic and it's probably hard to determine who is serious and who's just wasting their time. Yesterday I received the attention I needed; however, I was fed misinformation. I was looking for a specific Roor model that I previously owned and I came to this shop because it is an authorized Roor dealer. They had a model that closely resembles what I was looking for but slightly inferior. The employees were telling me that it was 5mm thickness (what I was looking for) but my intuition told me it was not. It did't feel heavy enough and the down tube was skinnier than I remembered. I have since confirmed that the piece was in fact a 4mm version of the one I was looking for. I don't know if the staff were ill-informed or intentionally trying to dupe me, but either way the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I probably won't be back unless I'm desperate for a Roor downstrem or bowl. read more
