NEVER GO HERE!!! I recently visited in Austin with friends, expecting a safe and enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, it turned into a scary experience. While we were there, a group attempted to steal my phone. The man posing as a magician and his accomplice were behind the theft, and shockingly, the bartender seemed to be in on it. After a 20-minute search and using the "Find My iPhone" feature, we located my phone in the accomplice's hand. As I was telling the bartender my phone was stolen, he had me write down my phone number (like that would help) and as I was doing so I literally heard my phone pinging in the thief's hand. When we asked the bartender about involving security or the police, he dismissively told us they had no security and that calling the cops would be useless. He also told us just to "let it go" once we located my phone. The thief herself even said "I own this place," so I suppose she is the owner? We pinged my phone 20+ times to try and locate it, the thieves were directly across from the bar so I'm certain the bartender heard it. This response was deeply unsettling, showing a complete lack of concern for patrons' safety. After leaving, the thieves then tried to intimidate us in a large group by watching us get in our car for 5+ minutes and waiting as if they will follow us. Avoid this place if you value your security and safety. This kind of negligence and complicity is unacceptable. These photos/videos are the best I can provide of the thieves. I do plan on filing a police report as well. The "magician" is extremely bearded with long hair (think Gandalf w brown hair) and the thief herself is next to him in the zoomed in photo.

Had a blast at Outer Heaven Disco Club taking pictures, dancing, and listening to karaoke. I would definitely go back. It got busier as the night went on. Great people watching!

I was excited to dance and came at about midnight on a Saturday. There was a line, but it moved fast. Cover was only $5 a person. We were in line for only 5 or 10 minutes. I did not like this place though. As I walked in, it was super hot (hot yoga kinda hot), and it was already humid outside. I felt like I couldn't breathe. Fog machine seemed too active, also, and the music was way too loud. I had to block both ears. I, then, tripped because there's a platform to your left when you walk in with a step up. So, if you veer too much to the left into the crowd, you trip. I fell to the floor. It was packed! You'd think COVID never existed. The wait at the bar outside on the patio was awful (one guy getting swamped), so we did the bar inside. I like clubs, I do, but this was too much. I like the Rose Room and Barb's. This wasn't those places. A lot of Simpson's decor, if you're a fan. It seemed like a good crowd. Mixed that it was only $5 cover and a fast-moving line. I won't be going back. Too many things would have to be different (less crowded, lower music, less fog machine).

Outer heaven has a great dance floor!

Outer Heaven disco club is a call back to old Austin. It's both the bar you're familiar with and unlike any place you've ever seen in Austin. As of 5/13/2021: Thursdays = Karaoke. Friday's and Saturday's = dancing. Come to Outer Heaven to support local owners and artists.

Honestly this is one of the best clubs I've been to in my entire life! Excellent DJ who plays ABBA and Michael Jackson is a winner in my book! Such a fun atmosphere with amazing vibes! Will be back for more disco fun!

Super fun spot. Drink prices are decent. We got there a little early. People started showing up around 11ish, and it got hyped real fast. We will be back!

One of the best dance spots in Austin. If you want to groove this is your spot. Best disco in town.

100% best bar in Austin. The music and atmosphere at Outer Heaven cannot be matched! We love it so much we went twice this week. Forget 6th and Rainey street, OuterHeaven is where it's at!

Love the vibes here. Really unique music. The dancing stage is small but the intimacy with the lights and friends makes it perfect :)

This place has potential, but I find remixes of classic disco music rather distasteful.

First, finding songs was irritating since it's not an actual system that allows you to do that without refreshing the page and we had to spend like 10 minutes figuring out a playlist method on our own phones. Then, once we figured that out, the screen kept popping up with an error message saying playback was paused because the account was being used in another location. The first few times the staff came in to fix it but eventually they just taught us how to fix it ourselves and said it should be fine after we refresh the page and it'll just be another room's problem. . . After these mishaps the rest of the time was fine but these things just really left a bad impression on me.

You'll never run out of songs to sing! It's pretty inexpensive, too. Reserve your rooms online. They do need your credit card to reserve in case you cancel too late, but you don't pay until you are done with your room. You can order food from them or try their packaged ramen at the front. Almost feels cozy. The people helping us at the front desk and over the phone were all very nice, polite, and helpful. The guy was very patient going over the instructions on the controller. They also have a call button by the TV for additional assistance. We celebrated my partner's birthday here, so we brought everything: drinks, food, water, utensils, plates, etc. Just need to clean up afterwards before you are done with your room. Make sure everything is in the trash can. We brought our own trash bags because their trash cans can be small for all of our accumulated trash from our drinks and food. (Also brought recycling bags.) The only thing is that our room's mics would make strange and random sounds during a song. Not sure why. The room also got warmer for 6 people over 4 hours. May need to consider a larger room if you have more than 4 people. A small room can seat comfortably up to 6 people. There is a fan inside the room. The big lights are very bright. There is disco lighting that reacts to the music if you use their programmed machine. So for lighting, there is no in between. It can be too bright or too dark. We brought our own table lights to see our food. The girls bathroom has two stalls. They were kept clean all night long. Did kind of run out of hand soap though. Will definitely come here again next time!

A fine club with a decent bar and an eyebrow raising toilet…read more Obviously your interest in Elysium depends on who they book. I came during SXSW, when clubs usually book bands that are different from what they usually book. So my Japanese showcase would not reflect what you would usually hear at Elysium. But the performance space is attractive. The club is divided into two rooms with just a divider and no wall between the rooms. So you can hear the music from anywhere. If you want to be right next to the speakers at the edge of the stage, you have to be in the main room - not the room with the bar. As I get older, I sit down more. But for most of my life, I was a stage-edge-next-to-the-speaker kind of guy. Only the only thing that would remove me from my favorite place was mosh pit action (Or a sucky band). As I get older, I also look for some kind of wall support to brace myself with one hand while I dance with the rest of me. The Mohawk is ideal for wall support upfront dancing. The Elysium not so much because one wall is mirrored. But you can get in position to do some major dancing. When I was there last, I did just that. * * * Seating options are superb. Both in the stage room and the bar room there are comfy leather sofas that hold three people and a number of other soft seating locations. Unlike many other Austin clubs, it is easy to find a space to sit down and still get the music full blast. At the Mohawk, in contrast, for an indoor concert, if you go to sit down you leave the room with the music, and you only get vague overtones coming through the wall. * * * The bar is pretty good. Their options are limited but their options are well chosen. I was introduced to a George Dickel rye by the bartender that was absolutely first rate. George Dickel is definitely going into my home collection. Outstanding beverages and fine seating allow you to have a fine time at the Elysium Even on a night when the bands are terrible. * * * Your fine time changes if you have to go to the bathroom. * * * If you are a guy, peeing is merely tacky. You go into a semi-gross room where there is a multi-user tank. All the guys pee into the tank. * * * Pooping is another story. The club does not want shenanigans going on in any of the toilet stalls. So they remove the door to the toilet stall. The men's room toilet is fully visible from the front door to the men's room. You are literally pooping in front of the entire world. This is barely one step up from India. In India, many people poop in the streets. Here, you are essentially pooping in the streets Except when you are done you can flush the bad stuff away. I personally am very shy . I definitely do not want to do my business in public. * * * There are people in Austin who love to sh** in public. Put four of them together and you have a band. Bands like that perform all over town, Including at the Elysium.

Hands down the best night of my birthday weekend…read more This is a true dive bar karaoke spot--in the best way. Fun, chaotic, high-energy, and absolutely packed with people ready to sing their hearts out. Pro tip: get on the list early. We arrived around 8:00 on a Thursday and didn't get called up until close to midnight. Also, heads up--people do tip the DJ to move up, which we didn't realize at first. If you really want to sing, tip accordingly! Drinks are very affordable (don't come expecting craft cocktails), but the ranch waters were hitting the spot and kept the night going. If you want a loud, fun, unforgettable karaoke experience in Austin, this is the place. Would 100% do it again.

Crowd was fun, energy was right, people actually there to have a good time. That part felt effortless. Everything else? Felt like work. Bar staff moving slow, acting like basic service was optional. Zero urgency, zero warmth. And the bouncer... built like a tank, attitude to match. My guy, we're pulling up for karaoke, not trying to breach a nightclub bunker. Loosen it up just a bit. That's what makes it frustrating -- the core experience is there. Music, people, vibe? Solid. But the staff interaction keeps dragging it down. Fix that, and Ego's is a problem in the best way.
