I treated my family to a drag brunch here for my birthday and it was a blast. Well, the performances were especially for a $0 cover. It rained and it made the performances even better. The bartenders were extraordinarily jaded and kind of rude. They absolutely did not want to be there. My biggest gripe was that there were such limitations on alcoholic beverages. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE MIMOSAS!! We did enjoy the food from Traphouse Caribbean. It just was an awkward setup. The bouncers were dull and also didn't appear to enjoy their job. Aside from the negatives, we had a great time. My brother got a bottle of prosecco (hmm...suspicious since there was none when I asked) poured into his eye by one of the queens and they gave him a dirty bandana to clean it up. Nice! I found this quite hilarious. I got hit on in the bathroom which was flattering. Yay for LGBTQ+ spaces! This place was voted best drag in 2022 but I don't see it being voted the best until a lot of changes are made. I still had a wonderful time!

My friend and I are so glad we checked this club out. It's $10 admission but has floors and floors of things going on. I haven't really seen anything quite like it before - at least not in Boston. There's a main dancing area which is an open floor concept, it's got music blasting (you can literally hear the music from a block away as you're walking over!!), a big bar, some seating, and people genuinely having a good time. It wasn't too busy when we went but the music wasn't nessecarily my favorite since it wasn't too easy to dance to some things but the vibes were awesome. I really liked this place. To explore the other floors: head back downstairs and take a left and you'll see a smaller room with strobe lights and disco balls, and then if you keep going straight there's a cool rainbow box lit-up which is a DJ booth and that leads to a whole other room with lounge tables and cool art hanging from the ceilings. This room is cool because there's another staircase that leads to two more floors!! Completely separate from the first rooftop-type one!! The third floor is super cool. It's a smaller rooftop but has disco balls with Saturn rings and a bar as well. A good time for sure!!

One of my favorite clubs in the city. It can get packed, but it's with the type of people you want to be surrounded with. Depending on the time you get here, you're gonna pay cover. Expect 10 bucks. Cash or card. You have plenty of room to roam around. The upstairs rooftop is amazing. Lots of seating and the dance floor by the DJ booth is great. Visuals on the wall if you're feelin real good. Once you get bored of the rooftop, take your ass downstairs and check out the other areas. If you're like me, you're gonna end up downstairs in the room with the silver couches dancing your face off. Try to check out the red room behind the front bar. It's usually full of people, but occasionally you'll get lucky. Also remember there is food here too. This is like your one stop shop. You've got lots of great gay bars nearby. Minus Highland. But typically you're gonna wanna start somewhere else and end up here around 11:30 or 12. They stay open pretty pretty late.

Came here on a Sunday evening with friends for an Afrobeats event called "Jerk x Jollof". I decided to Uber here since I didn't wan to worry about parking in downtown, but I soon learned that it was relatively easy to get to, and that parking in downtown on a Sunday wouldn't have been so bad... The event was overall a fun and vivacious one. I'm a fan of this genre of music and everyone that was there was clearly there to have a good time dancing to sick beats. All of the action takes place on the rooftop, and there are some nice views of the surrounding skyrises since the club is in downtown Austin. The rooftop is separated to have a long rectangular dance floor on one side, stairs and the bar, and lounge seating on the other side. Even though the event I attended was great, I feel like there could have been an ample amount of air conditioning, fans, air misters, anything to help us cool down. Even when my friends and I were sitting at the lounge area, we were sweating big time! I would have preferred the sweat to stay on the dance floor, haha! That's why I'm giving three stars.

Spacious and colorful outdoor rooftop bar. There may sometimes be a cover depending on the day and time but it's access to so many dance floors, bars, and different artsy rooms. The space is always real social, and dancey in the heart of downtown. Apart from the nice scenery, lights and crowd, The variety of DJs I think is why I enjoy coming so much. They usually play a lot of good electronic house, urban Latin, pop, rap and other good mixes! Since it's mostly outdoor and in Texas I usually end up getting frozens for most of the nights I'm here. I've brought so many friends visiting the city here and they have all loved the welcoming energy and diverse music mixes. Good spot to stumble across Some of The best Texas Djs

This club is definitely unique since it has several floors with all different vibes! We went there for a Saturday night, we paid $5 each, but I believe it may differ depending on what events are going on. (max one of my friends paid was $20.) They have multiple separate upstairs and downstairs dance areas, my favorite is their awesome rooftop! (They have two rooftop areas with different vibes and music, so be sure to check both!) It was pretty crowded, but easy enough to move to another dance area and people we ran into in the club were all nice and friendly. I liked that they have free water dispensers with disposable cups available to all. I had twisted iced tea and canned beer after attempting their cocktail and got disappointed. You can enjoy different vibes and music in each room which is really cool and special! Hope they bring more talented DJ's for great music!

Easy, my go to spot in the Austin night life as of late. This roof top bar is always a great time. The Dj keeps the music lively and the open space makes great to dance or socialize with friends. The restrooms here are almost never clean and often pretty gross, in comparison to the adjacent bars. Its connected to the two other bars on this strip. Cover at the door for one will often grant you access to the other bars as well. Other bars have different genre of music playing. There is only 1 bar here, which makes it hard to get through the crowd to buy a drink.

Fun vibe- pretty dead on a Sunday but friendly staff with fun views and atmosphere in the downtown area!

The music was great, and I love the fact that it's an outside rooftop vibe; but aside from it being full of babies (20 yo) the bathroom was so disgusting we had to leave. but all the youngins seemed to be having a good time. We went on a Wednesday night... sooooooo iono about the weekends.

A fine club with a decent bar and an eyebrow raising toilet…read more Obviously your interest in Elysium depends on who they book. I came during SXSW, when clubs usually book bands that are different from what they usually book. So my Japanese showcase would not reflect what you would usually hear at Elysium. But the performance space is attractive. The club is divided into two rooms with just a divider and no wall between the rooms. So you can hear the music from anywhere. If you want to be right next to the speakers at the edge of the stage, you have to be in the main room - not the room with the bar. As I get older, I sit down more. But for most of my life, I was a stage-edge-next-to-the-speaker kind of guy. Only the only thing that would remove me from my favorite place was mosh pit action (Or a sucky band). As I get older, I also look for some kind of wall support to brace myself with one hand while I dance with the rest of me. The Mohawk is ideal for wall support upfront dancing. The Elysium not so much because one wall is mirrored. But you can get in position to do some major dancing. When I was there last, I did just that. * * * Seating options are superb. Both in the stage room and the bar room there are comfy leather sofas that hold three people and a number of other soft seating locations. Unlike many other Austin clubs, it is easy to find a space to sit down and still get the music full blast. At the Mohawk, in contrast, for an indoor concert, if you go to sit down you leave the room with the music, and you only get vague overtones coming through the wall. * * * The bar is pretty good. Their options are limited but their options are well chosen. I was introduced to a George Dickel rye by the bartender that was absolutely first rate. George Dickel is definitely going into my home collection. Outstanding beverages and fine seating allow you to have a fine time at the Elysium Even on a night when the bands are terrible. * * * Your fine time changes if you have to go to the bathroom. * * * If you are a guy, peeing is merely tacky. You go into a semi-gross room where there is a multi-user tank. All the guys pee into the tank. * * * Pooping is another story. The club does not want shenanigans going on in any of the toilet stalls. So they remove the door to the toilet stall. The men's room toilet is fully visible from the front door to the men's room. You are literally pooping in front of the entire world. This is barely one step up from India. In India, many people poop in the streets. Here, you are essentially pooping in the streets Except when you are done you can flush the bad stuff away. I personally am very shy . I definitely do not want to do my business in public. * * * There are people in Austin who love to sh** in public. Put four of them together and you have a band. Bands like that perform all over town, Including at the Elysium.

Not crowded in, but enough people to let you dance freely instead of self-consciously. Music was 80's and fabulous! Super fun place to dance. So many bars! Didn't wait to get a drink at any of them. Bad Bartender Experience…read more Trevor is extremely rude. He's tall, lanky, and has long blonde greasy hairy, and facial hair. I went to the bar with my friend to order a drink, we waited in line while he served only his friends and chatted for at least 20 minutes which kept the line completely stagnant. When we finally got up to him to order, he still took his time to do everything but serve us then when he finally spoke he started being condescending and made fun of me for "not knowing what I wanted" despite me literally telling him exactly what I wanted. Fast forward a couple hours, we go back to order another drink. The other bartender is busy handling another customer, so we go back to Trevor, who is not helping anyone and his side of the bar is empty. We walk up, he looks at us both, turns away with his phone in hand, asks the other bartender something, and then proceeds to ignore us. I could understand being busy with something that I'm unaware of as a customer, I've worked customer service. What I don't get and refuse to tolerate is blatantly ignoring someone who tipped you nicely despite you being a d*ck the first time around. It costs nothing to say "sorry just one sec while I figure this out" or something. Normal customer service. As we're standing waiting, a couple other people come up beside me and he begins taking their orders immediately. I pointed out that we had been waiting longer than them, and he just responds with "ok I'm just going down the line, I'll get you next." And when I explained what happened he interrupted me and said "ok well now you're just wasting time on something that's not important." I tried finishing my point about him ignoring us and he ignored us again and continued talking with the person next to me. I think this man is allergic to customer service and accountability. It could've been so easy to say "I'm sorry, I didn't see you" or whatever. I wish 100 years of stepping on a lego daily on him. The other bartender, we think his name was Nick, did a great job and was very kind. He delivered basic customer service and it was unfortunate that they split tips as I wished I could only leave him something nice. Still tipped of course. Trevor's behavior definitely lessened the enjoyment of Barbs. I don't recommend this place any night that he's working.
