Due to my poor planning of dining at a very popular, new establishment in the area, we had to select somewhere else to dine for the evening. We decided to go to Outback Steakhouse. Outback Steakhouse is an American Steakhouse, they will try to make you believe they are Australian, but in my mind that's just a marketing ploy. Our waitress Julia was so lovely, she either really, really loves her job or she is an exceptional actress. I first got the Wallaby Darned cocktail. This was peachy, frosty, not super high on vodka, and a pretty summery choice to me. We got the 3 Cheese Steak Dip to share. This was so cheesy and melty, with the chopped steak and tomatoes. I got the Bloomin' Burger. I haven't had a burger in a long time, I was tempted by this one. This is just an average burger, with some fried onion added in. This burger was a bit strange. Was I eating three separate burgers or just one? Parts of it were very dry, parts of it were very salty, and parts of it were very juicy. Everyone else in my party got steaks that they throughly enjoyed! We concluded with the Chocolate Tower cake! This slice was massive. I thought it was going to be super dry, but it was very chocolatey, rich and fresh, and the raspberry sauce added an extra layer of sweetness! Overall we had a pretty good time at Outback Steakhouse. My burger wasn't great, everything else was solid. I think they're a better pick than the competitor (TR).

We had a g'day at this typical Outback restaurant. I'm not super fond of most chain eateries, but our friend picked the place. Our server, Sara, was terrific! She was personable and accommodating. These days where many places lack customer service, Sara seemed genuinely happy to be here and she enjoyed her job! She treated her other customers just a kindly as she did us! Sheilas and blokes will be delighted with her service! Their signature pumpernickel bread was brought out promptly and we all dug into those warm loaves eagerly. The compliments pretty much stop there... I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken which was not good; the chicken was dry, it was drenched in dressing, and the lettuce wasn't very crisp, rather somewhat limp. Not a fan. My hubby ordered a small steak with baked sweet potato and while the potato was fine, the steak was tough. He ate a few bites and gave up. We both ordered unsweet iced tea, but they only had sweet raspberry tea which we found odd. No worries, mate, we enjoyed the company of our friend, the excellent service, if not the subpar food. Next time, a local diner will do!!

Freddy was an A+ waiter. He was truly a compliment to the experience that Outback Steakhouse is known for. 5/5 Our steak, that night, was close to perfect. Another Outback location still has this site beat on truly presenting a steak in its perfection. This site is respectfully a close second. 4/5 Sides were a compliment to the meal. I recommend the loaded mashed potatoes and asparagus. 4/5 Previous score: 3/5 Updated score: 4/5

Dinner was better than expected. I haven't been to Outback in ages! They have a pretty good gluten-free menu . I order a 6 oz sirloin steak with grilled shrimp, sweet potato and a side salad. My dish ended coming with bread which I can't have but they changed it . The salad for a side was very filling and good. My steak was cooked perfectly as I wanted! My dad was very satisfied with his orders.. He did mentioned the veggies could have been cooked a bit more but his steak was tender , flavorful as well as the chicken. Dessert was delicious! Always a plus when it's gluten-free and there's something for us to eat. It was very filling but good. Couldn't finish all! . But , it was dinner time and it was pretty busy! Our waiter was great so can't complain at all about service.

Picking up food for an office lunch. Ordering was very easy over the phone, person that answered and helped me pick up the food was very pleasant. Early in the day, around noon and the restaurant was nice and clean. The food was delicious and I would love to come back and have lunch or dinner .

The service was excellent. I just drove into a parking spot and the server was at my car door with my order. The salad was very good.

Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

Then my wife's scallops were way overcooked (I did not even think that was possible) and I ordered my burger Med Rate and cane out Ned Well. Again ghe server did not even seem to bat an eye. It was really about attention to detail and the steps of service. None of them were there. We saw employees walking past empty tables with dirty dishes and not help clear, and saw no teamwork. My sister made a 6:30 reservation in advance, fully aware it would be busy, and it was. When we arrived, the wait for walk ins was already an hour. At check in, my sister went to the host stand because her phone was having trouble checking us in. The manager on duty at the time, Will, confirmed that he checked us in manually and assured us everything was set. About ten minutes later, my sister approached the host, Liv, because she continued receiving texts about checking in and seating. She simply wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue. Liv told her we were checked in, everything was fine, and to ignore the messages. Important detail: we were a party of five plus a baby. Fast forward nearly an hour later. My niece was understandably losing patience, so I went to the host stand to ask about our table. That's when LIV told me they had texted us, we "weren't ready," and they gave our table away. Let me be clear: they were calling parties by name the entire time. Our name was never called once. And LIV was the SAME PERSON who EXPLICITLY told us to IGNORE the messages. At this point, we were obviously upset. Will and others acted confused and tried to piece together what happened, as if what we were explaining didn't make sense. Eventually, we were told that a large party was about to leave and that table would be ours. Even then, we still waited another ten minutes. Shockingly, NO ONE apologized. The only explanation offered was "miscommunication." Once seated, our server was great, genuinely the only bright spot so far. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, everything was cold. At that point, it was almost expected. Another manager later came to our table, clearly in a higher position than Will. He listened to our side, apologized, offered to remake the food, and gave us a discount. When we paid, our server informed us that an additional discount had been applied. It wasn't until I was literally walking out the door, as the last one to leave, that Will finally said, "Sorry about everything. Have a good night." At that point, it felt far too late. If they're working, count me out.

Crispy on the outside, packed with well-seasoned chicken inside. Good spice, not overpowering. Came with a salsa and a ketchup-mayo style sauce, both worked, but the salsa had a little more life to it. Before that, warm ciabatta hit the table with a house-made dipping sauce. Oil-based with garlic, blue cheese, and a few other layers going on. The blue cheese gave it a subtle kick without taking over. Nice way to start. Now to the burger, the Luger Burger. I'm assuming it's a nod to the classic steakhouse, but didn't get full confirmation. The sauce is made in-house: slightly sweet, a little acidic (I picked up balsamic), smooth texture. It's a good sauce, it just needed a bigger voice on this burger. The burger itself is large. And I mean large. Menu said thick-cut bacon... that wasn't the case. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Now I'm going to get a little critical, because this is where it matters. The burger needed more salt. There's a lot of beef here, and it can absolutely handle it. Even something as simple as salting the tomato would've helped bring things together. If the bacon had actually been thick-cut, that alone might've bridged the gap. This was a very beef-forward burger, to the point where the supporting flavors barely showed up. The patty felt a bit too tightly packed, which gave it a denser bite and let the beef dominate the whole experience. A looser grind or lighter hand forming it would've made it more tender and allowed everything else to come through. It also needed more acid. The Luger sauce was applied lightly, so either lean into it more or bring in something else, a pickle, a sharper onion, something to cut through the richness and balance it out. The bun was soft, nicely toasted, and held up well, which isn't easy with a burger this size. Fries were hand-cut, properly salted, and exactly what you want. No complaints there. Overall, this is a great spot. Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated. Staff was excellent. Food was good, with flashes of being really good. With a few small tweaks, mainly balance and execution on the burger, this could easily jump to the next level.

Nowadays they just pack people in which takes away from the dining experience. Started by splitting a Caesar salad. Forgot to take a picture - probably because it was so good and we were lost in conversation. My boyfriend got the filet with twin lobster tails special. He enjoyed the filet and I had the lobster tails. The lobster tails were huge! The waitress mentioned they normally put some sort of a spice on them but I asked for it to be left off as lobster is delicious on its own (I just asked for butter on the side). Unfortunately, they put salt on the lobster tails which kind of ruined the flavor, however the lobster was nice and fresh, so I just dunked them in butter to mask the salty taste. Lobster is so flavorful and delicious by itself - it doesn't need anything other than lemon and maybe some butter. Chefs are always trying to do different things with lobster and they don't need to. Perhaps they put too much salt in the water they cooked it with. We also split the Au Gratin Potatoes. I must not have read that it had three cheeses in it. WOW was that a lot of cheese. A bit much. Very tasty but too much cheese. It was also quite small. We got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and I have to say I normally love these, but this had an espresso flavor to it. Like lobster, chocolate is good as it is - no need to add different flavors to it. I hate tiramisu/espresso flavored desserts typically, so that flavor ruined this for me. I wish they mentioned it had an espresso flavor in it. I will ask in the future when ordering at restaurants. Service impeccable. Just a few things that kept this from a 5 star review. We did bring in our own bottle of wine so they will allow that, you just have to pay the $25 corkage fee. Nice evening. Will be back.
