Overall: The ambiance and food here is great as usual. Service is fantastic, a really good spot to go if you're trying to plan something nice. Food: Capital Grille has a wide variety of flavors to cater to each craving. Something that stood out to me in particular was the mash potatoes. A creamy and subtle texture difference throughout was fantastic. Service: The service here is standard, a bit longer than the average restaurant, but I'm willing to take that given the care they put into the dishes. Ambiance: This is a nicer sit down place. Lots of seating inside for both small and large parties.

Ambiance is always lovely and the service was great. Shrimp cocktail was good. Fresh and crispy. We all ordered steaks Boneless ribeye. Cooked to order 2 filets on cooked to order One overcooked 2 Aged NY strip Au Poive. One cooked to order. One overcooked. Shame because they were decent cuts of meat. For sides we got: Mushrooms. Very dried out and overcooked Brussels sprouts. They were overcooked Mashed potatoes were soupy Asparagus were tough Lobster Mac n cheese came out good Dessert was coconut cream pie and the cheesecake. Both were good. Not so impressed with our Mother's Day meal unfortunately. Been going here for years and it's typically very good. Maybe the holiday was a bit much for the kitchen. We were the last service of the day and I guess we hit the dregs of the sides.

Steak frites lunch plate

We came here for lunch today. The food was good, our server was charming, but one thing left me perplexed: they brought a basket of bread to our table, and a plate with a large square of butter. The butter was hard as a rock, and we were not given bread plates. I ended up using the saucer from my cup of soup (really tasty butternut squash bisque) as a place to place my bread, a portion of butter, and my knife.

This is my third time coming to capital grille and I have heard great things and everyone loves coming here . And even the UCONN huskies have a tradition to dine here as well ! The ambiance is pleasant and quiet, dim romantic lighting perfect for a date night . And the staff is amazing every time, they are always very attentive and pleasant . However every time I have came I've never been blown away or excited by the food . The house bread they offer a few different options which is nice but they don't taste fresh and is served with just basic butter. The house salad is okay, ingredients were fresh however it was served with Parmesan vinaigrette but I couldn't really taste the parmesan . For the entree, I got the filet mignon with a side of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The mashed potatoes were absolutely amazing ... LoVEd the soft creamy potatos ( my favourite ) , however the creamed spinach was terrible ( definitely would not recommend) The filet ( I prefer my steak more cooked) so I asked for medium however it was served rare ( basically raw ) .. and when they tried to fix it. .. it was still under cooked medium rare at best .. so that was a little upsetting . But if you like to ur steak rare or medium rare this is the place for you :) I also got the try the chicken risotto entree and that was amazing the risotto was cooked perfectly and so flavourful , the chicken was moist flavourful as well . So I will definitely get the chicken next time :) For dessert the flourless chocolate cake is very rich and delicious . My favourite part of the dinner

I had a late lunch/early dinner at Capital Grille with my executive assistants on a chilly February evening. We were able to valet with no qualms and got seated right away. We've been to Capital Grille several times but it was usually for an event, and not a regular dinner. This was during my Daniel fast so I was very limited on what I could eat. The waitress was able to talk to the chef and they made me a vegan inspired medley. There was tofu, veggies and brown rice. Not only was an exception made for me, but it also tasted really good. My assistants got oysters as starters and burgers as their entrees. The food, service and ambiance were all on par and this location tends to cater a lot of professionals.

So first, let me just say our waitress anastina was amazing. She started our dinner off with a cute presentation of dirty martinis which were so yum! Now let's discuss the actual restaurant. We sat in the bar area which had an ok ambiance, I felt the music was lower than the dinning area which for a bar space was strange. We had a mix of shared plates including the lobster Mac and cheese the mash and the creamy spinach. Mac and cheese was decent I did like the small crunch of crumbs on it; however everything else was OK. We also had a field green salad... very basic; felt like a bag salad with some basic dressing, light but not what I expected from a well known high valued restaurant. We also ordered steaks and the sea bass, again ..just good. I personally didn't try the steak but my family said they enjoyed it. My sea bass was clearly fresh but some of the asparagus pieces were over cooked and it was supposed to be paired with shiitake mushrooms but there was only one on the plate which I thought was odd. I was surprised that the entrees were placed on our table before the "sharable dishes" too. When it comes to a pricier restaurant I really do notice details and feel like my dining experience should be above average in comparison to others. Unfortunately I just didn't have an amazing experience nor did the food justify the prices. Sad because I really have heard so much about capital grille for such a long time and I had high hopes!

Seared salmon over couscous and asparagus
John M.

I chose the seared salmon over couscous and asparagus which was perfectly delicious. The steak offering looked equally enticing Visited in connection with a professional society event and the setting and service could not have been better. Completely lived up to its reputation. The bread and dessert was so good I did not have time to take a picture. An elegant spot well worth visiting.

Ohh our first Capital Grille experience was nothing short of amazing. The food was delightful and solid. The steak was perfect. The only critiques IMO: the calamari could've used some sort of dipping sauce and the lobster tail seemed slightly overcooked but still tasty. It is quite pricey as well. But the cocktails were fabulous! Very balanced or spirit forward just how I like them. Where the 5 star experience stands out is the service and atmosphere m. This place is huge and therefore tables are well spaced. Our server, Jordan, made this birthday experience for my husband such a fun and memorable night. His banter was hilarious BUT our favorite moment was when he asked everyone at our table to name one thing they liked about my husband before treating us to a champagne toast and what an honor it was to hear why he is so loved! Never has a restaurant taken the time to remind us why we are all together! TY Jordan we look forward to coming back.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 A great experience celebrating my Mom's birthday at The Capital Grille in Hartford. Jordan is a great server, friendly and knowledgeable. High ceilings and nice decor. Enough space so that you don't feel crowded. Our party of five sat in the circular booth which was nice. Shellfish and steak were great. I felt like the bone in ribeye here is slightly bigger than the ones I got in NYC at Club A and Smith and Wollensky. Parmesan truffle fries were very nicely done. Lobster bisque soup special was very rich. They also had a lobster tail special from South Africa that my Dad said was good.

The appetizer was delicious, and the entrée & dessert was just as amazing. Our server, Ron, provided excellent service--he always goes above and beyond. We try to request him every time we visit if possible. Capital Grille never disappoints!

Service was excellent! They made our anniversary so special with a champagne toast, free dessert, and decorated the table with some petals and a nice note. Our server (I think her name was Jean, shorter dark hair), was so sweet and knowledgeable. They gave us the giant corner booth!! Food was excellent. No complaints! Overall 10/10, will be back.

Wow! One of the best meals we've had. Ever. From the bread and salted butter to the lobster bisque to the filet mignon and velvety smooth mashed potatoes, everything was amazing. Oh and the drinks! Sidecar especially. So good. The calamari was lacking a dipping sauce - whether marinara or aioli, but everything else was absolutely incredible. Our waitress, Chelsea, was so nice and super accommodating. We told her it was our first time there and she went above and behind to make it a memorable experience. The restaurant was very cozy inside. They sat us next to the kitchen where there was a huge window where you could see right into the kitchen. It was like watching a theatrical production, perfectly orchestrated. What a crew they have working there! Highly recommend!

They have a dining room that seats about 50, and a bar that seats around eight. They also have a very cute outdoor seating area covered by a large awning. The menu is Continental cuisine leaning toward Italian, and is very well balanced where everyone should he able to find a satisfying meal. Our experience began with a couple of very unique "East Side Martinis", vodka, cucumber, muddled mint and lime.....so good I had to have a second one! We were then treated (gratis) to the absolutely best bruschetta I've ever eaten.....loaded with chopped tomato, onion, and garlic. Fantastico! For an entree I had the Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin Medallions with mashed potatoes and braised cabbage. A perfect melding of complimentary flavors. This restaurant clearly has no issues with making very flavorful choices when it comes to spices and accents. The wife had the Chicken Special with fettuccine and lemon butter white wine sauce that was also very flavorful and excellent. Everything was so good that we had to get dessert, a slice of Almond Joy pie to go. The owner, Sue, a baker / chef, is typically in attendance, and has heen running the restaurant for ten years now. Our server, Jen, was attentive and experienced. They have a Happy Hour on Monday through Friday 3 to 6 pm. I'd highly recommend this place for everyone! UPDATE: Ate the Almond Joy pie the next day. The crushed almond & chocolate crust was incredible, and the chocolate glazed coconut was delicious.

My expectations were high for this place. The ambiance, decor and location are all on point. Cozy,…read morechic, New England vibes. My friend and I started with a glass of wine, and the service in the beginning was good. However things quickly went downhill. This library proves you can't judge a book by its cover. We ordered the calamari appetizer. When it arrived, I opened my silverware from the napkin and discovered that my fork was filthy-- a giant glob of white, crusty food, the size of a dime, was still stuck between the prongs. I waited for my waitress to check in (she didn't deliver the food) but she never came. We tried to get the attention of another waitress and were ignored. After 10 minutes, with my calamari growing cold, I eventually walked to the bar to get a replacement. The bartended exclaimed, "Gross!" -- my sentiments exactly-- when I showed him the fork. By the time I actually sat down to eat, the calamari was cold. It was also super tough and chewy. There were hardly any peppers. We didn't eat much of it. I love French food, and I ordered the duck for dinner. I ordered it medium. When it arrived, it was cooked well done- perhaps in an oven rather than seared. I say this because the skin was not crispy and the fat had not rendered, so the skin/fat remained thick, chewy and inedible. Usually the crispy skin is the best part of duck, so I was disappointed. I had to cut off the skin and thick layer of fat to make it edible. It tasted quite gamey and there was no pink center. It came sliced into thirds, so they knew it was overcooked when they served it to me. I only ate a small portion. The rest of my dish (which came out looking stunning by the way) was also a big disappointment. Although it looked beautiful at first glance, I discovered the delicata squash still had the rough, inedible skin attached. The cherry sauce was heavy-handed and drowned my brussel sprouts, sweet potato purée and carrots to the point that all I could taste was the sauce (a thick, sugary glaze). I did my best to eat around it, because my waitress didn't check on us until much later. In fact we were basically done by the time I saw her again. I had given up at that point and left most of my food behind. There was also an issue with where we were seated. We had a small table in front of a window, but completely blocking a much larger table in a narrow corner. There was a family there when we arrived, and each time they got up to use the bathroom, I had someone's body pressed against my chair to squeeze by. A woman's behind actually grazed the back of my head at one point. When the family left, I could feel them brushing my coat off the back of my chair, resulting in them stepping on it. I can't blame them- it was a tight spot and a very awkward place for a table. I was annoyed that the waitstaff (I'm assuming) took the other chairs at my table, making a 4 seat table into a 2 seater, so I had no choice in where to sit. I didn't understand why they did this, because there was a lovely fireplace nearby and I had my back to it all night. Clearly, they weren't thinking about the dining experience from the customer's point of view. Maybe I could have switched tables but finding my waitress was like trying to find Waldo all evening, so it wasn't worth the hassle. Safe to say I won't be back. If you decide to try it out, be sure to get there early as parking is a pain to find at peak dinner hours.

The restaurant is in a sleepy little corner of Glastonbury in a tiny strip mall. The inside is decorated well and it's a very pretty space. The single waitress was handling the entire place herself. She got me seated after a short wait. She was very polite and helpful, offered recommendations and was always available but was very busy. Opted for linguini in vodka sauce with meatballs, and the crème brûlée. Food came out after a short wait. Took pics and dug in The pasta was not boiled in salty water. Pasta consistency was slick and firm but not crunchy. Either overworked fresh pasta or dried, I'm not sure which. The vodka sauce was one note, lacking any depth. It was a creamy tomato sauce and really needed seasoning to punch up the flavors. The meatball was dense, lacked any seasoning or flavor. They were cooked and warm, just not much going on beyond ground beef. The Marinara was actually really good. Balanced, sweet but not overly acidic. The quality showed in that sauce. The crème brûlée was very good. Little bit boozy due the gran mariner on top with the caramelized sugar. Creamy and light on the vanilla but the perfect consistency. The best bite of the bites. The garlic knots and cappuccino were okay. Nothing fancy there, but functional and good enough. The server showed concern when I didn't eat much of my entree. She offered replacements, which I declined. The hospitality was great even with her being as busy as she was. Price was high, coming out to around 45 bucks for the pasta and meatballs, cappuccino, and dessert. It was a lunch on a Monday, so not expecting the best. But the price was a bit much for the quality provided. I can see glimmers of greatness here. The server and the dessert were great, but their entrees leave a bit to be desired. As an Italian restaurant, it has the perfect ambiance and service expected for an elevated experience in that area. The foods a bit lacking, but if you go for the location and the service then you'll do just fine.

I couldn't taste the bourbon and I tried my husbands drink and it was so watered down the bourbon color was almost clear. They brought his glass out and the waiter noticed something and immediately took it back and they seemed to have poured it into another glass which then watered it down even more!!! I got the lobster bisque as an appetizer and WOW, I don't even know why they call it a bisque. It was obviously cooked in a seafood broth and overly salty as opposed to the cream base of an actual bisque. My husband ordered the filet mignon. This cut of beef is perfect all on its own but they brought it out drenched in a soup of a tangy tasting sauce that covered the plate. You couldn't even taste the steak. The mashed potatoes looked so undercooked just by looking at them. When I asked how they were, he compared them to an instant mix box kind. I got the bolognese pasta. Again, no seasoning whatsoever for being a bolognese which should have herbs and spices. The service was lackluster, we got a water refill once, the waiter rushed everytime he was at our table and was even rushing writing stuff down. THE WORST PART was the ambience. I was hoping to have a nice date night on a Tuesday night, instead all the tables are so crammed together that you can't even hear your own thoughts. We were having to sort of yell back and forth just to have a conversation. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! Go across the street to Flemings or Capital Grill in Hartford. A LOT more quality and peace for almost the same price. DO NOT RECOMMEND NOT EVEN FOR DRINKS!!!

It was good and very rich and beefy, but I do think it could have used a bit more flavor. I also ordered a wine flight, which I really enjoyed. I got to try the burger as well, and it was delicious. The parmesan truffle fries were also a standout--definitely worth ordering. Overall, a great atmosphere, solid food, and a nice spot for a relaxed night out.

Decided to try Esca an Italian restaurant in Middletown located right on main st . We stopped in…read morefor a grils dinner / happy hour ! They offer happy hour M-F I think 4:30 to 6:30 ! Which we loved ! They had amazing options for happy hour . We tried the Arancini balls ( 2 large balls) , which were my favourite highly recommend . The cheesy garlic bread was also amazing! We tried the humus with homemade sesame crackers .. the hummus was okay a little bland for me and the house made crackers were not my favourite personally . - the lemon shrimp was good to ( but only 3 shrimp ) We also tried the tomato basil flatbread which is a regular pizza size ( perfect for sharing ) - the crust was thin and flavours were good ! Overall we had a great time drinking our $6 sangrias ( during happy hour ) and had a great time trying the small bites and pizza . Service was good and plenty of seating cozy environment. Will def be back for happy hour and to try some more options on the menus
