I took my daughter on a Sunday afternoon and had a great experience. It wasn't crowded, so there was no wait and the staff were all kind and helpful. We did the 3 course meal for $15, but I didn't get a picture of the potato soup - it was quite tasty, but we added some extra salt and pepper. The coconut shrimp were spot on - crispy and delicious! The regular fried shrimp left a little to be desired. I've been on a big broccoli kick lately, and it was steamed to perfection. I mentioned to our waitress that I didn't like it crunchy, so she took care of me with the twice steamed goodness! I've been coming to this specific restaurant several times over the years when I travel to Lufkin. It has become a hit and miss location for food and/or service. Are used to really enjoy the wings here but the last couple of times I have ordered them, they have been extremely greasy. The overall flavor is not as good as it used to be. I am not positive about this but I do not think they are the same wings they served several years ago. I am basing that assumption totally on taste and quality of the wings. Again that is just my opinion. As I have said in previous reviews, I typically sit at the bar because I am traveling alone. I typically get good service there. It varies from bartender to bartender. As most places, some are better than others. Bottom line - over the last few years, this specific location seems to be in a slight decline. Food isn't quite as good as it used to be. I was looking for something fairly close to my hotel and opted for Outback Steakhouse. They quickly brought out the bread and butter. Wish it had been a bit warmer, but it was good. The salad was fresh and crisp and just the right size. I ordered the 6 oz filet...medium. I should have ordered it medium rare. It was flavorful and very tender. Update....so.......the manager called me after our review and apologized for our issues, claiming that is not how he runs his store. He said he was going to send us an $80 meal certificate to try this location again. Hmmmmm, well 2 months later and no certificate. This outback was delicious. It was the high quality you've come to expect from outback . We ordered the center cut sirloin and the meatloaf. The huge surprise of the day was how amazing the meatloaf was! The service was great!!! The manager was caring and involved,checking on his customers throughout the restaurant. Horrible. Wow, what a ripoff. You expect when you order the most expensive steak on the menu that you're going to be knocked off your feet, picked up, and knocked back down again from how good it is. Well, it knocked me down and kicked me while I was there at how bad it was. There was a plate full of inedible gristle left after I gnawed off as much as I could chew. You would think the waitstaff would notice, and they probably do, but apparently don't care otherwise they would be totally disheartened coming to work at a place whose reputation in Lufkin doesn't live up to what the corporate office put out there through their national ad campaigns. Not a one-off experience, either, this place is consistently bad. Went there about six months ago, little celebration, thought we'd splurge. Yeah, I could have gone across the street to Golden Corral and gotten a piece of steak off the buffet and been better off. A joke, seriously, and not a funny one at that. Now, I can give them credit for a good blooming onion, but really, how could you screw that up? I won't go back to Outback, they've fleeced me out of all the money they ever will. read more

We've always had great service and good food at this Outback location and this time was no exception. Our waiter John was outgoing and very friendly. He was very attentive to our needs, made sure our drinks were topped off and we had what we needed. We could tell he was experienced when he noticed what we needed before we even asked for it. He took good care of us. The manager Scott also came by and checked on us. That's happened before at this location, so I assume it's a regular thing managers do. We ordered the bloomin' onion, always good. They also brought ranch dressing with it without us asking. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin, cooked medium, with garlic butter, with the loaded baked potato and fresh house salad with Thousand Island dressing. I was surprised how quickly they got the food to us. The food was soooo good. My steak was cooked perfectly, and they have never messed it up at this location. The seasoning was perfect too. We stopped in to this location this afternoon. Justin J was our waiter I believe very courteous and helpful. Prompt and accommodating. Food was brought out quickly. Prime rib was wonderful as well as all the sides. Blackberry Sangria was so good. Owner walked by and introduced himself and one of his managers very personable to guests. Bathroom very clean. The only turn off was walking in at 4:00 pm and the first mat you see had all kinds of trash on it! Yuck Definitely will stop in again read more

We stopped to eat after traveling all day. Giving it was Friday and there was graduations even though it was late night. We sat down about 9:30 the bloomin onion was burnt to a crisp then my bone in ribeye was way over cooked so I said something to our server. Giving now I am starving from driving all day so I kept eating on this meal. My wife had steak n chicken the steak tasted funny so she didn't finish it and the asparagus was not eatable. Meanwhile the manager never came to our table. I saw him greeting customers and walking back and forth from the kitchen to the hostess. We are sitting in the bar area he walks through the bar to get to the kitchen. Our waitress talks to him several times but he chooses not to address my unsatisfactory food and doesn't even take the time to see if we would like anything else. Nope nothing we pay full price for the horrible food and start to leave our waitress try's very hard to apologize and offers us a free bloomin onion for our next visit. I've actually stopped at this restaurant passing through several times over the years and couldn't believe how unprofessional this manager was. My wife and I decided to try the Outback Steakhouse after a doctor visit. We were pleasantly pleased with our lunch choices. Our server was Veronica who'd been there over eleven years. She was wonderful! My wife ordered the 8 oz. Center-Cut Sirloin with sides of their freshly steamed vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered ParmesanHerb Crusted Chicken (first time to try, but definitely not the last!) it was wonderful with my choice of their deliciously-fresh house salad. My wife had ordered her steak on the medium side of well, but it arrived more to my liking, on the rare side. I'd been working on her to favor a medium to rare grilling of a known great steak. She kept it and ate around the outer side and was pleased. The bread was fresh and so good! We both had our fill and she brought home a take-out box with leftover potatoes and steak. We go to SAM'S often and the Outback is very nearby, so we will go to Outback more often. Overall, it was fantastic! I only gave it four-stars because of her steak not being quite to her total satisfaction, but we're getting her slowly moving to the rare side....fingers crossed! read more

When it comes to steak places, I tend to order my steak under cooked to my desired liking because, without fail, my steaks are always overdone. Here, they have an underdone problem. Spouse ordered medium rare, ended up super rare. I ordered rare and got overly bloody rare. As in, if they had given it 2 more minutes a side, it wouldn't have been so bad). Steaks were missing some seasoning, usually outback is heavy handed on the seasoning and I have no complaints. A side of asparagus consists of 5 limp stalks. Yet, the charge a premium for this side. For a slow Sunday night, they forgot a lot of our sides. Asked for my sweet potato toppings on the side, they forgot them. Completely forgot one of the mashed potato sides and gave one of the plates extra seasonal vegetables (squash combo and giant broccoli pieces). Asked for a salad with no croutons or cheese. Salad came dressed with dressing already with croutons (easy enough to pick off). Then as I start digging in, it appears they essentially covered the cheese in dressing. If someone is asking for something not on their plate, it might not be a picky eater thing, it might actually be a food allergy and your failure to pay attention ruins a meal for someone. How hard is is just to throw a house salad together instead of the appearance that you picked the majority of the cheese off and left the rest covered with dressing. For a restaurant where you very quickly spend $70+, I expect a better experience. I don't see our family coming back here any time soon. We can cook steaks at home, to our liking, for a fraction of the cost. read more

Maybe it was because I came too late in the evening. It's the day after Thanksgiving im working here in town and just wanted a steak. Got here at 9:30. Ordered a bone in ribeye, sweet potato and potato soup with the fried shrimp as an appetizer. The shrimp were drenched in grease, the steak severely undercooked, and the soup was broth, literally not one chunk or even a sliver of a potato in the soup, it was just broth. It was just ridiculous and very disappointing. I literally paid for my food and left without eating it. I left an entire steak on the plate because I was so pissed if I started I'd have really showed my ass. read more

We came here for Mother's Day, for the first time in a while. We were seated immediately, and we had a great waitress. It was her first time on the floor and she was very nice.
