I am not quite sure why the quality of food at Outback has gotten to the absolute rock bottom awful! It was my Birthday and we decided to give the Outback restaurant in Annapolis another try. Yes, another try, because last year on my Birthday we went there and waited at our table 20 minutes then left after not even being acknowledged. We regret that we decided to try again. I ordered a rib eye. It was so tuff I could barely slice it. It was like leather and no taste. It was the thinest rib eye I ever saw. The server asked how everything was and I told her the steak was really bad. I guess this stumped her because she never acknowledged the complaint. Needless to say my Birthday dinner, which was intended to be special, was everything but special. Shame on you Outback! Not usually a customer here, but was open for lunch July 4. I have to say I was bowled over by the incredible service and the amazing lunch offers! While reluctant to visit, I have to admit I would have "eaten crow" but had the Fried Shrimp lunch with loaded Baked Potato , Wedge Salad and Cheesecake for a set $20. We tried this Outback on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and had the regular burgers. Very good. The fries were A+ excellent. The best we've had in quite a while. We also shared a wedge salad and it was great. Very large too and enough for two. We do not drink alcohol and we just had water. That keeps your bill these days at a very reasonable price. With all the Covid inflation and SHRINK - flation these days, you have to frugal. If we order alcoholic drinks, appetizers, and dessert our bill would have been well over a $100 bucks with the tip. The service here was very good. Above average compared to most restaurants. The atmosphere was a little awkward. Very dark inside with dark finishes and limited lighting. We were a 6 person party. Sat outside, which was nice with no bugs flying around. Not very packed for a Mother's day which is unusual. Still service is a little slow. In town for a quick shopping trip and stopped for dinner. The night started rocky but I was trying to be optimistic. Decided to sit at the bar as there was a 15 minute wait for a 2 seater. She whispers and pointed to coworkers before notifying the manger. The manger came over with a very friendly disposition observed the dish and quickly took it off the bill. I appreciated his efforts. After the bartender came back avoiding eye contact and slammed the change on the counter patting It instead of handing it to either of us. In addition she didn't return the receipt. Ordered a combo takeout - 6 oz steak and shrimp on the grill. Sides included sweet potato and broccoli. Got home (10 Minutes away) and there was no broccoli, and the steak was hard as a brick. Ordered medium and received well, well done. Even my Lab had a hard time chewing the steak. Returned to Outback the next day and talked to the manager. Was informed that she would tell the kitchen staff to be more careful with the takeout orders. Gave me a gift certificate for a desert (when a meal is ordered) and a free blooming onion. We ended up coming here since we were craving steak after going to Sandy Point. I honestly think this place was great! The waiter was fast and when an order would go missing, he would bring it out right away after he was notified. He refilled out drinks even before we finished them so we ended up with around 10 cups of water/soda for 6 people. For the amount of food we had ordered, it came out fairly quickly. Not only that the food all came out at once so we can all eat without having to wait for the others to get their meal. Here's the complaint, although i thought the burger was great, I was told that the ribeye was mid. I personally tried some of my sisters steak and it was flavorless. My friends ribeye on the other hand (the plate with the rice and fries) had a funky smell to it. From what I was told and observed, it seemed hard to cut through with the knifes that were given to us. Other than that, I think we will come back again! We will NEVER return, here's why: while our waiter was terrific, the food he was forced to bring us was just horrible. Steak filet, shrimp, and potato was all so severely oversalted as to be inedible ... so we returned them for replacements that were "unseasoned." They were still oversalted, but the second time around just barely edible. Food quality was astonishingly low, and hugely overpriced, and just tasted bad. Easy parking, great service, and a re-vamped menu. Steakhouse quesadilla: SO tender and juicy, and fresh. I would definitely would order this again. Bloomin' onion: ginormous portion! 4 of us could barely finish half of one. I liked the sauce too--it tasted like some sort of aioli. Three cheese steak dip: another winner. I missed a picture of the cheese-pull, but any fellow cheese lover would fall for this one. The cheese isn't too sharp or overpowering. It's soft and easy to chew, and the include chips had the right amount of salt. Blue cheese pecan chopped salad: I usually don't like blue cheese, but this was great. The dressing was toned down to something that didn't scream BLUE CHEESE. Sirloin steak with roasted garlic butter: steak was good, but I would've ordered it slight more rare. The buttery, garlic mashed potatoes that stole the cake. I could eat that forever. Peanut butter chocolate mouse cake: as our waiter Mike called it, "diabetes on a plate." This cake had the richness and density of a brownie throughout, but with peanut butter mixed in. Aussie mule: SMOOTH and delicious. I could drink this all day. It's an addition that really refreshes. Gingerbread cookie martini: 100% a dessert drink. It's oh so sweet, and the gingerbread man is an adorable touch (and delicious when dipped in the drink)! PS. Nothing special here. Honestly I would've expected the steak to be a little better given that this is a steakhouse but not bad. They have a nice variety of options and most entrees range from $15-30. Definitely get the bloomin onion as an appetizer. Our server was nice and attentive and the booth where we were seated was roomy enough for all 6 of us. Our food came out relatively fast. Not really a fan of the dim lighting in there but I think that's just part of the general ambiance? My steakhouse salad was pretty good. It was definitely enough for a dinner portion and the blue cheese and pecans inside made it really good. It comes with a very decent portion of steak.
