I love love love these guys because (1) they're sweet despite being in Little Five, (2) the bikes a gorgeous and I love to browse them, and (3) they don't care that I'm shopping for spin gear in a fancy bike store and will gladly advise on which cleats are best for my spin-class pursuits. I have a silly little bike but I love to ride and I feel right at home with Outback. Also, Edgemont is a sweetheart - he'll go out of his way to help and provide the best service he can. Simply put, Outback rocks. read more

Great service and very knowledgeable. I purchased a mountain bike for my son, and liked the service so much, I returned the next week and bought another for myself. read more

One of the best. They take great care of my 4 bikes. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Came in to buy a bike and was greeted really nicely and immediately helped. I am very short and had no idea what kind of bike I really wanted, but after a brief conversation with a staff member, I was directed to a hybrid bike. They didn't have what I wanted in stock, but they ordered it for me and I was able to test ride it and buy it within a week! I definitely would recommend anyone there for service, parts, and bikes. read more

Easily the best service of all my experiences shopping for bikes, having bikes serviced, and just generally visiting bike stores. Truly incredible. Edgemont (sp?) was ridiculously knowledgable and helpful. As long as we live in Atlanta, we will be visiting Outback Bikes. Thank you! read more

This bike shop is amazing. The staff, mechanics and owner were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I recently bought a bike from Outback Bikes and had a wonderful experience - everyone was smiling and the environment was stress free. I never felt as though I was pressured into buying anything. Furthermore, when I had problems with my bike, Outback Bike was helpful and ready to assist. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a bike shop in Atlanta! read more

Always a great experience whenever I come in with my crappy bike. They help and explain about the craft of bike fixing. It's impossible for me to leave without feeling satisfied with the service and their rates are very acceptable as well read more

Considering I just had to entirely fix my rear derailleur again, myself, should say something after I trusted my bike to Outback to be looked over and tuned up. I am really really disappointed in their service as far as looking at old bikes. I brought my '85 Trek 400 to them to get a tune up, and not only did it take them nearly two weeks to turn around, they didn't do a damn thing when I got it back. It's like I was giving them $65 for them to just keep it in storage for two weeks. The chain was still loose, the derailleur still hadn't been properly reset from when it popped (the whole reason, that I explained, that I brought it in to them in the first place). When I went to pay for the service, I asked them if they offered any sort of guarantee against their work (not on the bike, but against the actual work they performed). The guy at the counter just said, "not on that old thing, it's not going to last you very much longer." Which, actually, isn't accurate. The main things that need service is probably a new rear derailleur and chain which I'm finding out myself (had they told me, I would have been more than happy to have them install one for me, I don't mind paying for work and parts that actually get...you know, performed). Anyway, my experience with their service has been less than stellar, but their selection of bike accessories, inner tubes, tires, lights, etc is by far the best in the area. I will keep going to them for accessories, but for my service, I'm looking at APB instead - they were so much friendlier just walking in. My advice - look around a bit before you trust your bike to them...considering I was later able to fix the problem myself because they didn't fix it the first time...should tell you something. I mean, if anything, at least I'm learning a lot about fixing my own bike. read more

I rate this place is as an exclusive local/regional bike shop, all dedicated reviewers being of the same region ---- when reviewing. Nearly all these OTHER reviews ---- are from REVIEWERS of the same state. Why shall out-of-staters even come here. In customer service, other bike shops are more attentive/grateful in customer service. This place has too much $$$$$. read more

Great bike shop. Edgemont is a great guy and really knowledgeable. Gave me a great deal on a Bianchi Pista and helped me out with a new tire and tube after I had a flat a few weeks later. Having had 6 accidents in the three years that I have lived in Atlanta, I have decided to say "No Mas" to driving in this city. I stopped in at Outback Bikes to buy a helmet (again, 6 accidents in 3 years) and found Peter (the owner) and his staff to be extremely courteous, gracious and helpful. They were so lovely in fact that I was more than okay with going over my price range for the helmet, which is quite snazzy if I do say so myself. For anyone tired of the dreadful service one experiences at most bike stores (save for ABB), Outback is truly where it's at! Keep up the good work guys. read more

Outback Bikes is great! Everyone is so helpful and, coming from a girl who doesn't know much about bikes, very helpful! My tire tube popped and I don't know how to replace it so I brought it in to Outback Bikes to be fixed. I wish I knew the name of the guy who helped me but he was very informative and gave me some great tips regarding my bike. He recommended a few options that would enhance my bike's ability but was never trying to make a hard sell or being pushy. I'll definitely return to Outback Bikes for anything else I need. read more

Brought in my grandson's bike for a inner tube. Entire process took less than 20 minutes. Knowledgeable, courteous and very friendly. A+ operation, worth looking for. read more

Buyer beware!!! There are NO REFUNDS on bikes purchased at this establishment. I might not be "in the know" that this is standard for bike stores or this store in general, but I know that with most major purchases you can either return or exchange an item if you aren't satisfied on the same day of purchase at least. My husband and I visited the store after seeing the good reviews it got and its own website boasting that is was voted best bike store in ATL by CL for the past 13 years (also NOT on the website is its NO REFUNDS POLICY) . I called ahead to see if they had a specific model in an XL frame for my husband. They had it in stock so we went to take a look. The store does have a lot of bikes, but they are packed in tight and the lighting leaves much to be desired. My husband test drove the bike and liked it enought to buy it. The price of the bike was comparable to another local store that had the same bike but not in my husband's size. We didn't realize until we got home with the bike that it was not the same bike that we had priced out at the previous store. This bike was a lesser model that had wheel brake instead of disk brakes. In the gloom of the store, and the complete non-assistance of the store clerk who didn't know anything about the brand, bike or options (although, I do think it might of been his first day as he didn't know how to do the paperwork either), it didn't get pointed out. Yes, one of us should have realized that the bike didn't have the brakes that we were looking for, but what irritates me the most is that after getting home and calling the store to see if we could get a refund or exchange of the bike with the disk brakes, we were told no...flat out no. I am all about supporting my local community shops when I can, but part of that desire to do so is based on the idea that these shops support their customers as well. I did not feel like we had the support from the staff in making sure that we were purchasing the right bike for us, or for making things right after the fact. This is not how a business grows good relationships with its customers and THAT is how a sucessful local business is run. read more

Sean, Josie and the rest of the team were awesome in repairing my bike that my son was using in Atlanta. I live 500 miles away but I know I can trust them to do what is right and the most cost effective. Communication over the phone was clear, friendly and professional. They explained their options and their recommendations were spot on! They are excellent in understanding the customer and their product. And they have some of the best line of products for the money! read more

Outback Bikes is the best bike shop in Atlanta, hands down. In addition to being extremely friendly, helpful, and unpretentious (I don't know much about bikes), they will literally track down your bike if it ever gets stolen and unleash righteous street justice upon the thief. I bought a Specialized Sirrus from Outback about a year ago, which I love - it fits and rides great. A few days ago, it was stolen from an apartment complex along the Beltline. Fortunately, I was able to get security camera footage of the thief in action, and I sent it to Pete at Outback. Not 24 hours later, Pete called me to say that he had spotted the thief with the bike in Little 5 Points. He got out of his car, chased him down and recovered the bike. Unfortunately, the thief got away, but Pete and crew tuned it up, replaced the flat tire, and had it back to me that afternoon. 10/10, will buy all bikes and related accessories from Outback in the future. read more

Peter at Outback Bikes is the best! Not only is he very knowledge and helpful, but the shop truly reaches out to the bike community (beginners and advanced riders, alike). We were in Grant Park today to watch the Grant Park Criterium, and my boyfriend had a tear in his tire tread. Peter not only helped us change the tube and the tire without hesitation, but trusted us to go back to the shop and pay at our earliest convenience. Once in the shop, we were happily greeted by Josh and the rest of the staff. Outback Bikes' great selection is only matched by its customer service. This is what your local bike shop should be! As new residents to Atlanta, GA we can only thank to Peter and the rest of the Outback team for making our biking experience in Atlanta as pleasant as possible. Thanks so much, and we look forward to doing business with Outback Bikes in the future! read more

Hands down best bike shop in Atlanta. I have been going here for years. I have bought countless bikes here, they have helped with many builds, and always are very helpful when I am in need of various gear. I used to live very close to the shop, these days I live pretty far from them but I still always make the drive. Ive checked out many shops over 3 decades being a serious rider and I always end up back with Outback. They are the real deal! Thanks Pete for running such a great shop! (Now if we can only get them to open a shop on the north end of Atlanta!) read more

I'll admit Outback wasn't my first choice to check out for accessories, but it was only a few miles away, so I stopped in. I assumed being in L5P and selling a lot of fixed gear bikes that they would look down their noses at anyone they didn't recognize, but I was totally wrong. Sometimes it's great to be wrong....haha. All I needed today was a new set of pedals. I told the guy I was looking for something very basic, and that I was on a budget, and he didn't try to up-sell me at all.....that's always appreciated. I asked if it would cost a few extra bucks for him to put them on, and he said that it would, but ended up not charging me in the end, and hooked me up with the bottle of water I grabbed from the cooler! I then wanted to alter the pedals a bit, and the guy loaned me a screwdriver and let me mess with it for a minute right in the front of the shop. I couldn't have been happier with my first experience at Outback, even if it was just a simple pedal swap. read more

We bought bikes this weekend at Outback bikes after going to several places to shop around. We by far got the best service from Outback, and it caused us to go back despite the price of the same bike being cheaper at another store. After we went back to buy the bikes from Outback, we got great discounts which just added to our happiness with our experience! We would definitely recommend Outback to anyone looking for a bike, and we especially liked working with Amber who was really helpful with our totally unsophisticated questions. Great experience overall! read more

Not sure why getting some bad reviews? I can understand if the store is busy, a new customer can become a little irritated----solution: arrive 1st thing in the morning or near closing time to get the one on one time you may need. (We checked out store for 1st time on a Friday eve right bfe closing to check out bikes and get a feel, and we came back the following morning to make purchase. ****Midday you have to expect there is going to be some congestion***** Customers much cut them some slack--they are in a busy busy district of ATL and the store gets busy so if you are going in for the first time, choose a good time to get the personal attn you seek. Store advice---since mabe some people are complaining of being ignored......try to develop a system where you make the prospective buyer known quickly and that you have 1 person ahead of you and then I can answer your questions? I work in a dental practice and when I let a patient know we are busy/running behind that settles them down a great deal. Edgemont (?sp) the manager of store handled us that way yesterday and it was perfectly done....he made know that he saw us, 1 min later came to us and said he had to finish a client and would be with us in 10 min:):) Mechanics dept: I would mabe suggest a signup sheet or sorts that people could jot down name and brief concern with bike??? So people are addressed in order: I do know i stood there for a few minutes without being addressed. Just give some eye contact to let person know you see them Sylvester: Head of mechanical dpt, 25+ years experience in bikes, and i believe was a former owner of bike shops is absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable, very personable and knows his stuff---Einsten of bikes!!!! They have a large selection of bikes, good size repair center, bike fitting room, apparel. Parking: enter lot on side of bldg--free parking spots attached to their blue bldg. Large parking lot in back to take bikes for a test ride---PERFECT!! (Arrive early when parking lot is vacant). If you want to purchase bikes without having the snootiness of other bike shops, check them out. Josie, Edgemont are absolutely fantastic. They are both very personable. We explained what we wanted---and they came through. No up selling---they listened and were determined to meet our needs. After picking out our bike choices, they immediately take you to be fitted in back of store. *****Edgemont---has had extensive training on fitting riders to bikes(20+ years in bikes)***** Afterwards--he went over care of bike with polishes, etc.....we have been cycling for 6 yrs and still have much to learn, so its good to hear someone want a buyer to take care of his/her bike. This was the best experience we have every had with bike purchasing!!! Go check them out---they wowed us!!! read more

During this holiday season, I want to say thanks to Outback Bikes for another great year! Thanks for all the top notch work you've done on my bikes and thanks for selling my daughter her first bike. You guys rock! read more

These folks are great! I walked in to the shop a total noob looking for a road bike. The girl assisting me took the time to explain the bikes to me, why some are better for some things, etc. She patiently taught me how to use the shifters, adjusted the seat until it was just right, and talked about the different upgrades I could make to the bike over time if I wanted to stick with it. They didn't try to up-sell me - they tried to find the best fit within my budget with no pressure to even purchase that day. I just can't say enough about the customer service. Plus, the free lifetime tuneups pay for themselves! These folks love to share their passion with all skill levels. They will have my business for as long as I live here. read more

Based on the other reviews, I guess the wrong people were working when I came in. I've decided to expand from trail running to adventure racing, so I need to purchase a MTB. This place is close to me, so I thought it would be a good place to buy a bike. I fully expected to walk out with a bike, but after wandering around the store for 10 minutes, no one asked me if I needed help. There was one guy behind the counter doing nothing and 2 or 3 other people helping one customer with what appeared to be a repair. Not being a biker, I need some help with figuring out what bike to buy. They weren't interest in helping, so I left. Terrible customer service. read more

I had the bike shop build 2 wheels for me recently. They laced 1 wheel to a zipp 404 and the 2nd was a powertap hub to a shimano wh-r500 wheel. Both are true and ride great. The best part about it was I dropped the wheel off at the Hamilton Mill Store and they took it down to the ATL store for the build and then returned it to the Hamilton Mill Store. They were also 15% cheaper on the zipp build and 20% on the powertap then quotes from other bike shops in the area. read more

I have just recently got into bike riding and I picked up a cheap Kent at WalMart for $100. I have had to get it adjusted (the derailleur keeps slipping because it is a cheaply made bike) a couple of times and on both occasions I took it to Outback in L5P. Both times the mechanics went above and beyond the call of duty. The latest visit, the female mechanic with the awesome afro not only adjusted the derailleur, she also pushed the seat back into place and removed the fender which was rubbing against the chain. And she did all of this for only $10! I am looking to purchase a really good bicycle soon and these guys and gals at Outback have basically got my business for life ! read more

I came to Outback for a warranty issue on a bike I did NOT purchase there. Pete treated me just as if I had bought it there and dealt with my issue in a very timely and responsive manner. Purchased a bike a year ago, and the experience was great!! They gave me a fair deal on a Specialized carry over model from the previous year. I recently had an issue with the frame. I'm extremely happy with my replacement frame and how fast Pete and his staff got me up and riding again. Thanks Again to Outback Bikes!!!!!!!!!!!! for great service. I received varying service from this place. It seems as though they are very friendly but then they'll give you attitude out of nowhere. I hate to be this person, but it could be because no one else in the shop ever looks like me. But besides the point, I've come in here many times. I bike all throughout the city. The last two times I visited I got the exact same part fixed (within a week difference) and was given three different prices. the first time it cost me $10. The next time over $20. When I brought up the difference in price, the man said okay give it to him (my bf) for $10. Then the cashier said $15. -whatever- at this point I don't even care. The cashier goes to get something to scan for the price since I got a part fixed and he brings a barcode for $20. WTH am I getting Punkd? So I say whatever just get me out of this freakin place. I planned on biking to Sevananda (just past the light) and what do you know? The same part was broken. Now, idk what you would call that. Maybe a bad day mixed with poor service. But after I go back to have them fix this part FOR FREE or give me my money back (ha!) I will be servicing my bike elsewhere. read more

I live outside of the perimeter and went to Outback because they were the only supplier in Atlanta of a particular type of BMX bike that I wanted. The purchasing experience was great and Peter the owner is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I didn't know it at the time but one of the benefits from purchasing at outback bikes is that you get free unlimited tuneups for your new bike. This is a huge benefit especially when your ride as hard as I do. They are very accommodative and were willing to take me on a busy weekend to fit me in for tuneup. Living outside of the perimeter I really appreciated their flexibility. Dave was the bike tech that worked on my BMX and he was fantastic. He listen carefully to everything that I had to say and when it was done he wanted me to test drive it out the parking lot. He actually came out while I was test driving it to ensure that I was a satisfied customer. Where in Atlanta can you find that kind of customer service? I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking to buy a new bike! read more

I walked into outback today, to buy a bike that I have been researching and shopping for a couple weeks now. While walking around the store and being ignored, it allowed me to shop the limited stock they had in the particular bike I wanted. They didn't have the exact models or size, which was going to make it very difficult to test ride, but like I said I had been shopping for some time now so I knew what I wanted, but there were just two models that I was torn between. Anyway, after being ignored for a good ten minutes, I decided to leave when the "pretty girl" in the short shorts walked in, and received help right away. I'm glad I left. Even though it was 30 minutes further, Roswell Bikes, had the two models I was torn between, in my size, and had the new 2015 models, (which has better colors). I walked out with the bike I wanted, I didn't have to wait a week, and I was instantly greeted at the door. Customer service is important, especially when it's about to be the slow season. read more
