Chill bike shop in Little five. Got a flat in front of their store, they let me pump up. Instead of fixing the flat I thought I could get all the way home and fix it myself. I unfortunately made it two miles out before I had to walk back to the shop. The guys at the shop were cool. They practiced social distancing which was nice, only ten people could be in the store at a time and they had Clorox wipes, and automatic hand sanitizers everywhere. It was a little confusing because one guy told me to go to the back for service then the other guy yelled at me to go back in the front in fear of spreading the virus. I scratched my head, but I'll excuse them because it's been crazy with the Corona Virus. Glad they take the Corona Virus seriously, it means they care. All in all, they fixed my flat, they fixed my brakes which I noticed right away and they gave me some good tips on how to properly put on my bike wheel. I walked out happy. By the way the guy in the front was super funny. He was trying to find zip ties, but kept calling them anal beads. I also walked out laughing. Hopefully, I'll come back on my next bike ride from Stone Mountain Park just to visit. Stay safe y'all.

    Bianchi rebuild for Chattanooga IM

While doing my research looking into bike shops around the Riverdale area or outskirts of Atlanta. I eventually came up with Outback Bikes through a mutual bike shop recommendation. The reason for my stop was looking for bike build and breakdown for my Chattanooga IM. I called the shop months in advance and ending up talking with the owner believe Patrick. I had great conversation about my needs, the dates and times needed my bike build and breakdown, and got email confirmation soon after our conversation. Flash forward my race weekend. I took my Bianchi into the shop on Monday. I got to meet Patrick in real life. lol. Good guy. The entire staff everyone meet and dealt with were friendly, helpful, and five star comes to service. I needed my bike built before Thursday cause leaving for Chattanooga. They had it done by Wednesday. The bike was put back together exactly the way it was broken day. On race day not that you can predict the weather or issues on your bike going 116miles. Thankfully no mechanical issues on my bike portion of my race. Big SHOUT OUT to the staff at Outback for making sure my Bianchi IM ready!!! The breakdown the same brought it back once in Atlanta area on Monday and picked it up Wednesday first thing so had it for flight back Vegas later that night. They did wonderful job of packing it nice and secure. My guys in Vegas had no problems finding all the parts or any parts damage in the process. So if your looking for bike build and breakdown for any cycling or triathlon race in the Atlanta area and coming from out of state. I would highly recommend Outback Bikes. The shop itself is decent size for a smaller shop with all your bike needs. I always love support small business owners. Bike shops most part majority of them are small business owners in my experience. Outback they take the time to treat u like part of there family. In all the visit four trip between dropping it off and picking it up felt the same vibe. Once stop asking for recommendation for lunch around the area. They mention good one! The location the only thing not fan. They have private lot around the corner of the building just for the shop. If going at night be aware of your surroundings and get back in your car with your bike on your way.

I told the guy I was looking for something very basic, and that I was on a budget, and he didn't try to up-sell me at all.....that's always appreciated.

Avoid this shop. I brought in my scooter for what they said was a $75 fix. The invoice said…read more"installation," and the technician assured me I wouldn't be charged again if a part was needed. A week later, they added $50 for the part plus another $75 labor fee, bringing my total to $200. Nearly a month later, my scooter still isn't fixed. I had to call five times for updates because they never followed up. Eventually, I was told the repair failed and they want me to pay for yet another part. The shop responded to my concerns below by citing a posted $100 diagnostic fee, but my invoice said installation, and staff explicitly told me I wouldn't be charged again. If this policy were truly iron-clad, why did they charge me $75 instead of $100? That alone shows that these policies are flexible when it suits them but firm when they've messed up. Their explanation doesn't change the fact that I was misled and left without a working scooter. I've already paid $200 for nothing but wasted time and broken promises. The only fair resolution is for them to complete the repair, parts included, at no extra cost. If you want honesty, communication, and actual results, take your scooter elsewhere

I use my middle…read morename on personal social media nowadays and my profile pics on here are of a young woman in her twenties, which I am definitely not anymore. Hehe. But it is good to know that Pedego still does "acoustic" bike repairs, you'll be seeing me soon for that! In any case, I think I wrote that last review before I bought my actual Pedego about two years ago, which is kind of crazy. I am now a very proud Pedego owner and I love being a "regular" at this store. For the first year I owned my Pedego, I ended up having chain drop issues and coming into the store to get them fixed; also one flat tire. But there was apparently a manufacturer issue on this model and there was a chain guard fix (I don't know what I'm talking about just doing the best I can with lingo) and since then I haven't had any issues, so I haven't been back except for tuneups and once to rent a bike when my friend was in town! They keep a copy of my bike lock key (Pedego locks which are registered) because I am constantly losing things. Everyone always super helpful and they remember me. Nothing makes me feel more like a "neighborhood gal" than this place. So we've now established that this store is 5+ stars in service. A few things to know about Pedegos themselves if you're considering buying one. * I have a city commuter, and it's a beast; the battery is heavy. But well worth it. I tend to use level 1-2 pedal assist at all times, which I justify because the battery is so dang heavy. It takes a bit to get used to starting up - I use the throttle to get myself going after a stoplight, etc. I don't think I've ever used level 6 pedal assist, it's terrifying. But I have used 3-4 when I'm in a hurry and it makes a difference. * My mom (late 60s) also has one and loves it. They even drove it to the beach last year - so it's POSSIBLE to put it on a rack - but we have a hybrid van and haven't managed to get a rack that can handle it yet. * My initial hesitation in buying an e-bike was that I'd never ride my regular bike again and it wouldn't be a workout. And like, look - that's true; I burn far fewer calories on bike rides / my heart rate doesn't go up nearly as high. It's just too hard not to throttle up those hills. But it's also true that I ride it way more often and I feel way more empowered to get where I'm going. I once rode up to a doctor's appointment in Sandy Springs! * During the pandemic when there was a parts supply shortage it was a bit scary / awkward because if something broke I wasn't sure I could get another one. I think I was particularly concerned about tire tubes? or something? (Again, I can't remember any lingo). And Pedegos do tend to have rather specialized parts. But every time this happened, the folks at this store basically did whatever they could to get me back on the road, even one time taking a part from another bike in the fleet! I'm telling you they are the best. * I really want one of the Pedegos with a seat for a second rider on back so I can cart my kids around - they have one in the rental fleet. But they're never in stock to buy! Kathy says she'll tell me the second she gets one in, and I know she will :) Ahem, I should start saving... And if you're considering renting one: * comes with lock and saddlebags and helmet. That may seem obvious to some people but it wasn't to me and I was happy :) * it's on the expensive side, but definitely worth considering anyway. it's located right on the beltline and these things are so fantastic; it's a great way to explore the city for a day. We rented one for my friend when she was in town and had a great day riding up to Piedmont Park on the beltline, then over to the High Museum where we caught the exhibit, then rode back - all in ~5 hours. Yay Pedego!!!
