This is a slightly delayed review, but about 2 months ago I stopped into this shop to get a pedal wrench so I could throw some new pedals on my bike. This is a no-frills joint with lots of used bikes out front and a friendly staff inside. I recognized the guy behind the counter as the same guy that used to work in the shop in L5P. He was helpful and got me going for less than I thought I'd have to spend. I'll definitely keep this shop in mind since I work pretty close-by and since it's far easier getting in and out of this spot than it is in most other mom and pop bike shops in the area. read more

The pandemic was the incentive I needed to finally splurge on a big girl bike so that hubby and I could pedal around the neighborhood together and spend time outdoors. The hubs gets his bike fixed here and has always had a great experience, and I wanted to shop local. Due to COVID restrictions, the shop isn't open for customers to go in - instead, they have a link to their current inventory, you tell them which bike you want, and then you set up an appointment to visit the shop to purchase/test ride. This was my first non-Walmart bike since 3rd grade, so I had a lot of questions about what would be the best fit, and Chris was extremely helpful and patient answering them all. When I showed up for the appointment, someone (I wish I remembered his name!) basically re-taught me how to ride a bike with gears (it's been a while, don't judge), doing a few laps around the neighborhood until I felt comfortable. Also, when you buy a bike from them, not only do they give you a discount (I think 10%) on any gear/merch purchased with it, but they also include free tune-ups (I think they said for life but may need to re-confirm). If you don't know which accessories you want yet, they can make a note and you can come back after a few days/week or two and still get the discount. Great service and really cool guys. Would definitely recommend (if you can catch them while they still have inventory)! read more

I have only been once to Loose Nuts, but they impressed me greatly. A group of us had gone cycling, and two people suddenly got flat tires (a patch of broken glass?) My friends took their bikes to Loose Nuts, who immediately fixed their tires. This was on a Sunday afternoon, when it can be hard to get a mechanic's time, but they fixed them up very quickly and with friendly professionalism. Everything about the place had positive energy and good karma. I know most of the other intown bike shops (Skate Escape when it was open and Intown Bikes on Monroe are quite good; Ansley Cycles gave me a very bad experience, so I have not been back.) Loose Nuts impressed the most of the intown bike shops. read more

This shop is great, and I'm so happy I went to them for a problem tire. I'd had a pricy tune-up at another store whose name will not be mentioned, and on my first ride after that, I had big problems. At Loose Nuts I got all the help I needed, fast & excellent service, and none of the snobby attitude some bike shops give you if you're a casual rider. They fixed the problems, put on new tires, and checked out a number of other small things that needed tweaking. (They gave me a bolt to replace one that fell off my bike pump, and they twisted my rack's bracket into a shape that let me use it on a different bike than I used to, and charged me nothing for these little fixes). Haven't had any issues since I brought it in. Nice people, good service. read more

Wow. What an amazing place and wonderful staff. My wife's wheelchair had issues with loose screw and armrest came apart. Took wheelchair in not knowing if they could help and this young man just sprung into action like it was nothing and fixed it in a few minutes. Great local shop! I've taken my bike here for a tune up, to get straightened up after I got hit by a car, and for the occasional replacement tube or other part. Every interaction has been professional, knowledgeable, and kind. During covid, they've practiced proper precautions, and today they even fixed my partner's wheel for free (I put it on the bike rack on my car and then promptly backed in to a tree, oops!). Bikes and bike parts are a hot commodity during a pandemic, and getting a new wheel (their recommendation) would take a few months, but now we can ride today! What a nice experience. read more

I must say I am super impressed with this wonderful small business. Last week my wife and I came here to pick up her newly tuned up hybrid, which these gentlemen did a great job on. While there, however, I asked about road cycling because I just received a road bike from my father when he passed away last October. Traditionally, I am a marathon runner but you could say that I have always been a bit...bike-curious. So, while there I took the opportunity to ask about road cycling. Specifically, I was interested in an emergency flat-tire kit in case I was 15 miles away from home and my tire went flat. Being a daily bike commuter, I knew bikes on Atlanta streets were prone to punctures. Scott was quick, and excited, to show me the best gear possible for my new adventure. We were comfortable with the price and the equipment so off we went. Fast-forward two days and I was out for my first ride. I did 30 miles on the Silver Comet Trail and absolutely was hooked. Even after I finished my first ride I was ready for the next. Luckily, I had July 4th off and was ready to go. I decided to ride from Edgewood to Stone Mountain. While on the ride, due to novice experience and user error, everything fell out of my emergency kit. I lost my CO2 inflator and my tire was ruined by the back gears. When I went back the next day and told them what happened...they replaced everything and showed me what I did wrong. I was just floored by this kindness. I cannot say enough good about this shop. They have the heart of teachers, are welcoming and friendly, and make you feel like the customer is the most important person in the shop. I've bought two Mountain Bikes here and had my daughters custom commuter/gravel grind bike built here.Took two bikes in came out with one bad ass original bike. One of the mountain bikes purchased here has had The brakes replaced twice, I think once he replaced from the levers to the pads and once again just the levers. Both times I was prepared to come out of pocket but Loose Nuts covered everything under warranty. This place talks to you on your level regardless of how advanced of a rider you are.It doesn't matter if you ride road, mountain, gravel,cycle cross they treat everyone the same.Much respect for this shop. read more

First off, the guy who helped us had just fractured his shoulder but he helped me pump my tires and told us to ride to our destination and come back if there was a leak. Turns out there wasn't. I have been in Atlanta for over five years, and have had nothing but bad experiences with every bike shop i have been to, for varying reasons, including, but not limited to invisibility to staff, crappy attitudes from staff, expensive parts and accessories, expensive service, simple service that takes weeks, inexperienced mechanics excecuting poor service. I have been to Loose Nuts now about 4 or 5 times. I have to say that so far i am 100% pleased. They are a small shop and dont keep a lot in stock, but will gladly order you anything you need and have it for you in a couple to few days, and will call you when it arrives. No bad attitudes, nice dudes, helpful advice, fast service, good service, honest. read more

Before I go in-depth on my reasonings behind my rating for this review, i do want to say the technicians/mechanics at loose nuts are VERY knowledgable & efficient. Chris has been able to solve problems for me that i haven't been able to find solutions for anywhere else. If you do want a manageable mechanic to work on your bike, (no matter what type of bicycle it is). Pretty sure their names are Chris & Tyler. Now the issues i do have with this establishment are due entirely to financial reasonings. I have taken both of my bikes to this shop several times, and each and every time somehow, i always find i pay more than i would at other shops. Only one time i was actually charged significantly over than what i should have paid in service/labor after the installment of my crankset. I take my bikes to outback bike as well as in town bikes all the time for miscellaneous reasons. My sole problem with Loose Nuts, is on several accounts of my business with them, I've realized that they literally "find ways to charge you more". No matter how many times I've brought in my own parts for them to use i always seem to leave the shop with new parts they change me for. Ive seriously given them my bike and parts i wanted them to use, and upon pickup they gave me all my parts back and put new parts on and charged me for all of it. Whats very unprofessional about this shop and the two people running it is whenever I have anything done through them, they'll add things i didn't necessarily need without calling me or asking me before they go through with it, so by the time they call me to pick up & pay for my repairs the work is already done and they pull out some crazy number i never intended on paying for in the first place. Once i noticed this unprofessional trend i immediately decided id be writing this review. No matter if its a car repair shop, or a cell phone repair store, if your customer will be needing ANYTHING additional outside of what they should expect..As a business it is healthy and professional to practice notifying your customers of this before surprising them with a total at time of pickup and almost trapping them into paying for the labor thats already been done. I NEVER have a problem paying for something i need, but it makes me upset that every time i leave this shop I'm charged for things i could have been okay without. And hey... if its something i actually need to fix my bikes properly, then give me a freaking call and ask me if i want to pay for it or not. Don't just do whatever you want with peoples stuff and then tell them how much they owe you. Its sneaky, entrapping & very unprofessional. read more

Coolest and nicest bike shop I've been in a while. While headed on my bike to Atlanta Streets Alive -- a large bike parade that happened to start for this leg in Grant Park -- I stumbled upon the bike shop. From the outside looking in, and there were a lot of folks there because of Atlanta Streets Alive I suspect, it looked like a Biker Bar, with cool folks on bikes. Bikes everywhere and folks hanging out at this coffee shop and the bike store next door. I immediately decided that this was my place. I head in. It's a small shop that looks like it carries a lot of cyclocross bikes. So that's going to be a difference from the average ATL bike shops that carry a bunch of high end road bikes. But the folks were super welcoming. They also carry stuff you'll need, like fenders, and locks, and brakes, etc. So it's great for that too. In the bottom, they have a bike shop that seems like they have a good sense of how to fix stuff. The ambiance inside is pitch perfect. Cool, but irreverent. You feel like you are part of a bike community here, but not one that's snooty at all. I enjoyed the service and staff and strongly recommend a visit. read more

Hands down, the least pretentious bike shop in town! Seriously, these guys put Backout to shame. I've been to this shop three times. The first time, I asked if they sold used bikes...they sure don't but "feel free to email in any bikes you are looking at on CL and we can at least let you know if it's a good bike and a decent asking price"...what?! Well I didn't end up buying a bike online, instead inherited one from a friend. I wasn't sure how terrible the condition was, the tires were beyond flat and falling off the wheels, things looked rusty...I know nothing about bicycles. But, they signed me up for a tune-up, let me know if the tires didn't hold air they would replace the tubes, and I'd be good to go. They didn't try to upsell me, and they totally could have. When I went in to pick up my new precious, my husband started asking questions about road biking. These guys are so knowledgeable and so freaking gracious. They answered all his questions and even all of mine about each of our hybrids, patch kits, the necessity of lights. Scott was particularly helpful and encouraging and didn't make us feel like the ignoramuses we felt like. Over the two years that my husband has been commuting on his hybrid to work, he's had to interact with people at other bike shops, and it has seemed to be such a trend that bikesters in general are just really pretentious. I'll admit that one of the reasons we checked out LNC was because the reviews said the guys were so nice. Lil5pts is at least a mile closer to home but we will definitely be making this place our shop of choice. You should too. read more

Top notch. I ordered a bike online and since I am fairly handy I assembled it myself (yeah, yeah, yeah--I know). Unsurprisingly I botched a bunch of crap so I stopped in to Loose Nuts with my tail between my legs. They immediately greeted me, asked what the problem was, and before I could sit down they had the bike on the rack inspecting it for problems. I watched while they sorted out my various messes. After all was said and done he asked for $35 for the labor, which was a fair deal. I went in with a pretty ugly mess and they got everything squared away immediately. Within 20 mins I was riding smoothly down Cherokee and off into the sunset. This place is a testament to how a small business should be run. I will never take a bike anywhere else. I purchased a new bike at Loose Nuts for the purpose of having a low maintenance bike with free service for 2 years. This was worth it. They really stand by their product. I have been to multiple bike shops in Atlanta, and this one is definitely my favorite. I've been to places where I've been overcharged for services or been told that I neeeeed to have something (small and non-essential) fixed on my bike for an upcharge or places where I need to leave my bike for a few days for a small fix (which is hard when you don't have a car and need to commute back and forth to the shop). These guys are really nice and have been able to fix my bike in a matter of minutes. I love the efficiency of this place, and the prices are super reasonable! Great location and a helpful yet laid back atmosphere. Everything I want/need in a shop... they have the skills and resources to work on an old steel road bike from the 80s or a full carbon track bike.
