I was delighted to rent cruiser bikes from Atlanta Bicycle Barn on my recent trip to Atlanta. You can't beat the location, which is right next to the Beltline, nestled between Krog Street and Ponce City Markets. The guy working the front desk was welcoming and offered lots of helpful tips for where to stop along the Beltline to take in the many sights, food, and beverage options that are available. The prices were reasonable and the cruiser bikes were in decent shape, and they provided helmets for free and a bike lock for $5. I was especially happy to be welcomed back by the resident bike barn cat when we returned the bikes after our 3-hour ride along the Beltline. read more

Impressed! This is the ideal Beltline bike rental place in every way. 1. Free parking in the parking lot (it's a bit rough getting in, and the ground is not smooth, but still, free parking is free parking) 2. Located RIGHT on the beltline. 3. GREAT rental price: $5/hr ($10 min, but that makes sense as you'll likely need 2 hrs anyway) and there's a flat rate if you need to go over. 4. Helmet included. Bikes are in pretty decent condition; I was able to find a pretty newish, clean one. For all the germaphobes out there. 5. Can pick your bike and also switch bike seats. I picked one with a cushier butt pad and was happy I did. Some of them look new. Tips: I am 5'2" and I found that the ONLY bike type that worked for me was the one in the picture. The others just don't adjust to as low as it would to place 2 feet comfortably on the ground, and without gears, I felt safer being able to have 2 feet on the ground. Some other short adults used kid bikes but I don't think that's a good way to go unless you're REALLY short, like 4 ft or under. Tip #2: There ARE ebikes, but they're $15/hr. This was such a great deal. Okay, so you drive up, park, pay, pick a bike out, and ride. We rode from the shop to piedmont park, enjoyed a few hours at the botanical gardens, then rode to Ponce City Market for food and local dives. My go to bicycle rental place! The staff is always very friendly and despite it being a pretty popular bicycle rental, the process to secure your bike is a pretty smooth one. There is a one sheet consent form to sign that you can share with another individual if you are not riding alone. You pay upon return and the price for two hours is more than decent! I ran over something while biking on the beltline, and luckily I happened to be right around this place! It knocked my wheel around just enough to let some of the air escape, but didn't actually pop the tire. I found the Atlanta Bicycle Barn and was able to pop right in. These guys were super nice and very knowable. I went in looking for an EBike not knowing much and had superb and super friendly informed service from Daniel (I think I remembered that right!?). Also great input from Lance who seemed to get mad respect from everyone who walked in. I tried several bikes but only one was a consideration for my specific needs and legs, so I left planning to come back for it to ride more on a warmer day. Located near the Beltline portion near Krog Street Market (across from Ice Box). The first time I visited, the staff was very friendly. My friend was not expecting an impromptu visit to the Beltline so she was dressed in heels. We decided that it would be more comfortable for her to explore the area on a bike. Unfortunately, she does not know how to bike. Unfortunately, the multi-seater bikes were not available. Unfortunately, no bikes came with training wheels. My friend is also not very tall and I think the last option (children's bikes) unfortunately were also not available. Through all this, the staff was patient and courteous even though we ended up not coming here. Fast forward to a week later. I finally got a chance to drop by. Again, FRIENDLY staff! Oh my, the experience on the Beltline and at Piedmont Park is magnified on a bike on a rare sunny day (these days). I highly recommend renting one. Perhaps bring a comfortable back pack or a basket for the bike (none were available there). You may want to stuff water and snacks in these packs/baskets. Warning. When you're wanting to explore the Beltline on a day with nice weather, other people may be thinking the same. It was a bit challenging navigating between crowds of pedestrians, bikers, children, dogs, and strollers. I had to use the bell more than once to alert people I was coming. $5/hour (2 hours minimum.. and it did take 2-3 hours). $20/day. read more

This shop is right on the beltline just before you get to Krog City Market if you're coming from Ponce. The staff is friendly and not at all snooty. They went out of their way to make sure I got the right tires for my bike, steering me away from what would have been a bad choice (steel beads) for what I had in mind. Thanks! But if you are looking to do a longer ride - and perhaps ride on the gravel portion of the Beltline - we'd recommend going elsewhere, due to the lack of bike choices. I can't speak to the rental side. However, I'm very disappointed in the sales department. I was told that the bike I bought could be brought back anytime for tune ups for the first year. I was told that the reason the bike was more expensive than online was because of this. Clever verbiage. ONE tune up per year. ONE. Bait and switch at it's best. When on the phone the manager was so unbelievably rude and condescending that it was clear Bike Barn's customer service stops at the door. Unfortunate that they promote people to manager with no sense of customer service. Instead of calmly explaining the misunderstanding he scoffed and said, "No we don't offer that! You could be cruising for hours if you really wanted to explore. One way takes you towards Piedmont Park and the other will take you near Ponce City Market. Cons: Their bikes, at least from the selection we had, are not great for short people. I'm standing at 4'11" and it was a pain anytime we'd have to stop because I'd have to brake and stumble over to try and get my feet down. They also don't have any hand brakes. Overall: I'd definitely rent a bike from them again if I didn't have my own with me and hopefully sometime during the weekday instead of the weekend. Update from my initial review almost 2 years ago : Nothing has changed and Atlanta Beltline Bicycle continues to have superb business ethics and service all the way around. I recently had a blowout in Piedmont Park on one of the 3 tires of my trike due to riding the heck out of it. (I thought it was just a valve issue) This mishap happened after closing hours of ABB but I was fortunate enough to catch Tim on the phone and he suggested that I just lock it outside the shop and I would return the next morning to get my trike issue(s) underway. Well, it turned out that my tire tread was worn bare on all 3 tires, along with one blown out/ destroyed tube and a loose chain in need of replacement as well. These guys are all about safety and couldn't be more fair. Due to my uncommon chain, Tim had to order it and then in less than a week I was back on the Beltline. Riding my trike along with my pup in the back basket is seriously what I look forward to each and every day as long as my job & weather permits. I ride from Reynoldstown to Piedmont Dog Park and sometimes twice a day. And I always look forward to seeing any and/or all of the familiar faces from the bike shop once I make it to the Beltline via Irwin Street because if any of the guys are outside of the shop, I am guaranteed lots of waves and smiles. They always add a bit more joy to my ride and it is always much appreciated. . Yep, the little things give me the most joy. Oh! Atlanta Beltline Bicycle also holds random events like free bike check up days (usually on weekends) and just good times for all bike enthusiasts in general. There's street parking (Free) and a Parking lot a few seconds away, but that costs 5 bucks. We just parked near the other homes across the street and walked on by. You'll sign a waiver and they'll time stamp the waiver in order to charge you the correct amount depending on when you get back! I think on the sheet, it stated they had helmets and locks for a certain price. Can't remember which was free/costing money. But I do remember thinking it wasn't outrageous. Folks are really nice here. The guy took out sheets and another guy told us to choose any bikes we would like. Off we went!... for like 5 hours. Came in today with a super decrepit bike that hadn't been used in years. Wasn't sure if I should try and salvage it or just buy a new one. I can't remember the guy's name who helped me (longer brown hair), but he was really nice and informative, and he gave me a lot of advice about the bike. In the end, he decided that I would be better off not repairing it and just getting another used bike online. I really appreciated his honesty, and I will definitely visit their repair shop again and recommend it to friends. read more
