To be honest, I haven't bought a bike from Outback...but I have purchased accessories and used their repair service. Their repair service is efficient and very competent, albeit my repair needs were very minor. But I'd certainly trust them with something more complex. Also, I like their selection of bikes and imagine that when I go shopping for a new one, I'll go there first. read more

I have given Outback bikes several tries with the same results each time, total waste of time. I could not believe the attitude that the employees had. When they finally seemed to drop the attitude to find out what I wanted they immediately up'd the jackassery when they found out what I was going to do with the parts I was looking for. Franken-bikes and mopeds (the kind with pedals) need parts too. I have since found another bike shop less than a mile away from Outback that is more than willing to help, and pretty cool to boot. These guys will NEVER have my business again. ******UPDATE 2/16/2012 It seems like Outback Bikes has changed their sales staff since the last time I visited. I was very surprised that the staff was friendly and willing to help. It seems that they have made a 180 and are really trying to fix some of the problems that they had before. I am taking back my previous statement and giving them more of my business. read more

Best bike shop in atlanta They went over and over everything with me for weeks until I was ready to make a decision. This was the 1st place I went, so needless to say I had to go everywhere else to make sure, and I went through more than one tank of gas doing so, but nothing compared. A mom and pop shop that has great prices and will look after any bike you buy here for a lifetime. Mike hooked it up! read more

Went into Outback yesterday for some necessary repair parts. I was helped by a young man who got me what I needed. I wanted to see some other items and was accosted by a mid 40s woman who rudely said "I can't have you wandering the store" I get that some are freaking out about Coronavirus but that's no reason to be rude to the only customer in your store. Why open your doors if you won't allow people to shop? I can tolerate a rude cow, but I prefer not to, so I'll shop elsewhere. read more

I like outback bikes. Its good environment and its full of bike porn. They dont carry much in the way of freeride/downhill dj stuff...or really any. They cater more to the rodie XC crowd that actually has money to buy new bikes....in other words they do not cater to me or the folks i ride with .....but everytime ive set foot in this shop to buy supplies or get my bikes tweaked on they are more than helpful and all the mechanics up there are very good. Ive gone in because my Bike wasnt shifting right and was out the door in 10 mins.Super fast mechanic hands in this place. The only issue i have is that 90% of the stuff they offer is Taiwan / China made Specialized crap. Its not that the bikes arent hot to look at,but im a fan of U.S. or Canadian made bikes and im my opinion we need more bike shops that sell only these.I will not spend 5k on a bike made in China. read more

Anyone buying a bike from this outfit, be very wary. I bought a dual suspension Mt. Bike from them in June. The bike has been having major issues and they refuse to warranty their product. This thing has been a lemon since I bought it. I would look elsewhere if your in the market. read more

This store comes equipped with a completely confident staff both in sales and mechanics. You will not get sold anything you should not have, in fact you will sometimes get talked down to ensure that your purchase is the right thing for what you want. The shop is owned and led by a man whom seams to have a strong spiritual sense that he implies in all the teams business practices. If you are a first timer, go here and get what you want and need. If your a pro at this biking thing than you will know as soon as you enter Outback, this is where its at. Also you can rest assured that only quality products are what they carry. Outback Bikes - Great service - Bikes Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

I bought a bike that had a life time warranty from Outback. They told m they wouldn't honor a transfer. I said I would just return it to original owner and he could bring it in they gave me a one time tune up. When I picked it up and started to bike away, they chain seized up and it was u-rideable. This had not been an issue when I dropped it off. Made me feel like it was done intentionally since I had an issue with the transfer policy. Beware when getting bike serviced. read more

Great bike shop for avid cyclists and for families. They seem to have a wide offering of bikes that are are great options at each pricepoint. I looked at all the local bike shops for a bike for my son, and they had the best bike, and at a great price. Don't make the online mistake. Get the right bike, the right fit and lifetime service. As an avid cyclist, the service department has been fantastic. Above and beyond. In particular, Patrick has been exceptional. For me, I can't go 2 days without my bike. They fix it fast and fix it right. Thank you for keeping my ride perfect. read more

I've been so happy to find Outback Bikes and so pleased every time I've been in. I'm no professional or keen cyclist but a mom of two active children who need new tires and tubes on a fairly regular basis (curse you, coaster brakes). The staff has always been knowledgeable and helpful and so very kind -- never looking down on us and our cheap beat-up kids bikes. They've given good advice on what we need and what we don't, given us the lowdown on bmx vs. mountain for an eight-year-old and let him try the bikes in the shop to see if he's ready for a 24" wheel size. And today, I was initially annoyed that Target no longer builds its ship to store bikes and considered doing my son's new one myself. But I'm so glad I took it to Outback where I know all the bits will be in the right place and it will get the best tune up. Worth the money and lack of stress for me read more

I came here to get a flat tire fixed. They put a new tube in and helped me fix an issue I had shifting. The mechanic was really cool about it. He put in about 15 minutes of labor at no charge to me. The shopkeep also helped me pick out a blinky bike light so I wouldn't get run over at night. He explained all the different types of lights and recommended one that would suit my purposes. I liked the people who work here and the way this place is run. The prices they charged for parts and labor was fair for quality workmanship and advice. read more

After spending two days there in a row and some cash, I've gotten a pretty decent feel for the place. And it's really great to have such a store close by. The staff and owner are knowledgeable without being condescending. They have a great selection of bikes and equipment, plus they're willing to talk through and listen to what your needs are. Finally, they give a lifetime tuneup for any bikes purchased there. Their customer service is crazy good. You don't have to spend two days there to find that out. Btw, you don't need to spend that much time looking for the right bike. But if you need to, it's great to know they'll work with you without pressuring you to make purchase. Come see these great people. You'll be glad you did. read more

Very dishonest bike shop. Please go to another place. Yesterday, my tire was repaired at this shop for $20 (overpriced but paid it), but this morning on my first ride the same tire popped. I returned to the shop and they would NOT provide a 24 warranty but again charged another $20 for a new tire tube. Please RUN and go to another shop! read more

Sorry, didn't hear back from them, and so I used B E Cycles instead.

I've been meaning to write a glowing review of Outback Bikes for a while now -- but today I really have to do it, 'cause they treated me extremely well. I stopped by near their closing time with what I thought was a simple flat tire -- but on investigation it was clear that my rim had become damaged making the rear wheel unusable. (My best guess is that it was leaning on, or bouncing against, the rim when I put the bike on the front rack of a MARTA bus to get it to the shop.) But instead of making me leave the bike, the folks at Outback found a replacement wheel, offered it to me at a good price, and even made time to do some cleaning of my embarrassingly grimy ride. As a bike commuter, I really appreciate the fact that Outback Bikes makes every effort to get me on my way immediately, rather than force me to leave my primary mode of transportation behind. And as a customer who purchased his bicycle there, I really appreciate their policy of free routine maintenance on the bike. They could easily get me to pay for things that are covered under the policy (I'm not always 100% certain what's covered; and even when I think I know, I ask if I owe anything just to avoid being presumptuous). But they invariably wave me through for those covered services and never show any sign of frustration that I'm taking up their time. I strongly recommend them for every service they offer: sales, accessories, and service. read more

I used to enjoy going there, but I have had two horrible experiences in a row with them. Last week, someone very aggressively tried to sell me something that was in stock, rather than what I wanted. They even lied that it was the right thing for my bike, even though it was not. This week, someone in their bike maintenance department was gratuitously obnoxious, asking why I wanted a BMW part for a bike that was a Toyota. My bike cost several thousands of dollars. I will go elsewhere. read more

Disappointing service. I took my bike in today for a front derailleur adjustment. They got to it quickly which made me hopeful. They had much difficulty. Thirty minutes later they pronounced it fixed and charged me $15. I tested it in the parking lot and it was not fixed. Took it back and said so and was told they'd have to take it in and keep it for a fix. I declined and asked for a refund. The tech told me it was over his pay grade and I'd have to wait to talk to a manager. At which point I left. Riding the bike away it seemed worse than when I came it. I've bought 2-3 bikes here over the last 15 years and always had good service before but now I'll go elsewhere. read more

Today is the second time that I've taken my bicycle to Outback Bikes and I am more and more impressed with their service. I brought it in today because Peachtree Bikes charged me money to fix NOTHING on my bicycle on Friday, and I basically had to carry in my bike and miss a day of work- things were so out of whack with it. They immediately were able to point out the problems that, for some reason, the lesser company had missed and were able to fix it immediately. They were all relatively minor things, but the repair crew was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond for the maintenance of the bike. I'm so incredibly pleased and, even though it's a bit out of my way, will be returning here for my bike maintenance from now on. Thank you guys! read more

We had a nice experience buying an e-bike with Dimitri. The appointment signup from their website was easy, and when we arrived they had the two bikes I had scoped out and mentioned in my online reservation note ready for me to test. They let us take as much time as we needed and patiently answered questions. I definitely did not get a "bike snob" vibe from them! Dimitri was knowledgeable and down to earth. And big plus, the bike I wanted was on sale. Definitely recommend. read more

The staff had a very poor and nonchalant attitude to us. Bought my wife's bike there last year - brought it in for break squeaks, fender scraping the tire, and just overall maintenance. They were not friendly at all when we picked up the bike...and upon arriving home, apparently did not fix a thing. Its a rip off to say the least...avoid them. read more

This is by far the best bicycle shop you can go to. Extremely knowledgeable staff. They set you up with what you need, not what makes them the most money. I will never shop at another bike shop again. read more

Very rude customer service!! The employee was very helpful in looking up bikes, but became confrontational when I told her I was looking to purchase a bike today. She stated "well you know we are in the middle of a global pandemic." I explained to her that I understood that, but that I was only asking if it was possible to purchase today because each bike store that I called was handling the pandemic rules differently (e.g., some stores are allowing 10 people in at a time, curbside pickup etc.,). She rudely said "well we choose customer safety over profit" and proceeded to hang up the phone. I do think its admirable to be concerned about customer safety, but better customer service would've provided options, seeing as the latest review just said they purchased online and picked up in the same day. Based on the reviews, it appears that customer service is lacking at this place, dont waste your time! I would never spend a dime with them and suggest you dont either!. read more

Outback Bikes say they're a bike shop without the attitude. This statement couldn't be further from the truth. Since I bought my Specialized from Outback Bikes, I'm able to get free tune-ups and adjustments whenever I want. Yet, I will PAY for these services at Peachtree Bikes. I will pay for services I can get for free, and it's not because I have money to burn. That's how terrible Outback Bikes is! Their attitude would be tolerable if their mechanics were good, but that's not even the case. I don't think some of the employees even bike themselves, unless it's a fixie around Little 5. I have tried to establish a relationship with this shop, but gave up as I started going to Peachtree Bikes and experiencing how you're supposed to be treated by a professional bike shop. Mike, the owner of Peachtree Bikes, is a great guy to get to know by the way. Their bike fit consisted of me riding around the parking lot and the shop employee eye-measuring my measurements. At that time, I was a noob and thought oh okay. Now I realize how lazy this is, considering I bought my bike from them. It is stand for LBS to put your bike on a trainer to accurately perform a bike fitting. For repairs, I've had my rear derailleur cable incorrectly installed, and my headset loosened for no apparent reason on two separate occasions. I've had to return my bike to get it fixed, just after they fixed it a day ago. I don't even live near Little 5. AWESOME! There is a female mechanic who has effectively ruined this store for me. She constantly makes it known that she thinks I'm trying to run them out of business. She constantly charges me for repair work that should be free since I purchased my bike from them, and then I notice that those charges are removed if another mechanic handles the job. When my hydraulic disc pads were stuck, she told me how she might have to bleed my brakes etc which would cost 25 bucks. That sounded extreme. By researching online, I discovered you can buy spacer for 2 bucks and just shove it in between the pads. I originally told the owner I would not write a scathing review, but after experiencing the professionalism and friendliness of Peachtree Bikes, I can not help but tell others that Outback Bikes is not the place to go, unless you are into the whole Little 5 hipster charm, which I fully don't understand the appeal of. Otherwise, if you're a regular guy like me who enjoys the sport of cycling and wants a base shop, there's plenty of other LBS's in Atlanta that will provide you better service with more professionalism. read more

LOVE Outback Bikes!! Between my family and my sister's family we have boughten 5 bikes and a weehoo. The service is always top notch and Mike has been a huge help every time! We have always been crazy about this place and the people that own it and work there and this weekend they took their elite service to a whole new level for us. We were riding the path trail back from Stone Mountain and my husband got a flat tire. We were about 12 miles from our home and without any tools to change the flat. As we were contemplating what to do, an Outback Bikes van just happen to drive past us. They saw our daughter's weehoo and pulled over. The owner of the store got out, changed my husband's tire including a new tube, free of charge and sent us on our way!!!! We are continually impressed with this store and their amazing service!! read more

This place seems fine. The folks are nice and they have a good selection. I took my bike in for a tune-up awhile back and they adjusted the derailer as best as possible, but told me I had the wrong shifters for the bike. The bike ran okay but imperfectly. I accepted their wisdom about the shifters. Later, my chain broke, so I took the bike to LooseNuts in Grant Park because it was walkable (no chain, no ride). The tech at LooseNuts fixed the chain and, also, without asking, adjusted the derailer so it operated perfectly. He said the shifters were fine. So... $70 for a tun-up at Outback that was less than perfect was fixed for free by another bike shop in about 3 minutes. That was a let down. read more

These guys earned 5 stars! I'm an Atlanta business owner and I understand how difficult it can be to keep everything together - every day - all the time - while trying to balance the operations, customer service, and other pressures of running a business. I think Peter and his staff do a great job. I had been looking for two bicycles for some time (my wife and I) and I had checked out other Atlanta bike shops. My experiences varied from poor to okay at all of the other stores. When I went to Outback I was treated very well by the friendly staff. Joe & Peter educated me without making me feel silly. I ended up purchasing two Specialized bikes from them and we've been back for some routine maintenance and repairs (blown tire). The mechanics are cool and very helpful. They also had very fast turn around time on my bikes - I was in and out with two bikes in less than 30 minutes. I'm sure it takes longer if you go in the late afternoon, but I went during the middle of the day so they had less clients in the store. If you're looking for excellent service, great pricing and a friendly low key bike shop with top brands, then you need to visit Outback Bikes. You won't be disappointed. read more

I really wanted to like this bike shop as it's close to home and would be convenient. Here are some of my experiences. I was switching handlebars on a DI2 bike. Having never owned a DI2 before I thought it best to bring it in and have them do it as I didn't want to screw up the wiring. I specifically stated just route the wires don't worry anything else. Three days later I get a call that it's done. My repair girl had said it would be about $25, how surprised was I when my bill was over $100 and she was not working. She was kind enough to charge me over $50 to mount the shifters I told her not to. I thought I would give them another try as my wife had her heart set on a Bianchi and they are the only Bianchi dealer in town. I was also looking for a chainring bolt as one of mine was stripped. After waiting for about 45 minutes for them to set a bike up on a trainer(pouring rain) I finally had to help them because it was too painful watching them try to figure it out. The fit was good, she was Happy and the the younger salesmen/repair guy started trying to sell us basically all the bikes in her size that they had excess inventory of. Not listening to what she wanted at all. While she was on the trainer I asked the same guy if they had any chainring bolts for a ultegra 8000 crank. He told me I had to bring my bike in to have it measured to see if they had any that would fit. Really, really. Long story short. I was so disgusted with this shop I ordered her Bianchi from Erik's in Minnesota just so I wouldnt have to go back. I called Atlanta cycle for the chain ring bolt, they gave me a set and didn't even have to measure my bike, hmmm crazy I know. Podium Multisport= great, Atlanta cycle=great, loose nuts= great, Outback = never ever again. read more

Unlike some of the other bike stores in town, a customer looking for repairs is not viewed as an annoyance! I needed a tube in my tire replaced and was shocked when the tech said he could fix it right then. $8 for the part and $8 for service. The other store took over a week to do the same repair and may have even done it incorrectly. The tech even showed me how the tube likely got broken and how to avoid breaking it again. Great service and also a great selection of bikes and gear for all kinds of bikers. read more

Outback Bikes is everything a local bike shop should be. They've got a lot of good bikes and gear in stock. The employees are very cool, knowledgeable and attentive. They dedicate a lot of time to fitting riders with the right bike, which is really important if you want a bike you'll ride and not leave in the garage and forget about. Also, I've had several repairs done in their shop, and the results were great. Most importantly they take their relationships with their customers very seriously. At one point I brought up to the owner an incident I had with the shop when it first opened, and despite the fact that it happened almost a decade ago he fixed everything. This is a good shop, and I recommend them highly. read more

I am a Specialized bike fan and was excited to find that this place was so close to me. I stopped by and luckily was on the last day of a Specialized summer bike sale. The guy in store was super helpful and patient. I liked that he let me go through the bikes myself without hovering above me. Also super cool that Captain America- Chris Evans came here a month ago to get his bike.. That makes me basically like.. his biking bff. Anyway back to other details. If you buy your bike here, tuning is free while you own the bike (if you sell it, you lose that privilege). If you are here just to get your bike tuned up-- its about 80 but if its minor and they recognize that its not a full overhaul, they will bring the price down. I thought that was a nice touch. read more

I came to Outback in need of a bike and had no clue on what type of bike to get. I was helped by one of the most knowledgeable, professional, service oriented stores ever! Edgemont was so helpful in assessing my needs and matching me with the perfect bike as a novice rider. I felt very comfortable allowing him to take the initiative in my purchase. He took into consideration my budget and my lack of knowledge and guided me through every step with ease. His ability to know what was a good fit for the me took out all the guess work which made me very relaxed. Edgemont is awesome and I was lucky to have him help me with such a big decision. I even let him choose the color I had that much trust in him. I cant thank Outback and Edge enough. Bonus!..Lifetime maintenance on your bike. STELLAR! read more

Never Again! I dropped my bike off for a tune up, head-set bearing replacement, and front axle hub overhaul. They told me to expect my bike back in a week. After a week went by, I received a call explaining that my bike wouldn't be ready for a few more days because they would have to order a new hub. "Okay, no problem", I respond. After a few more days go by, I still hadn't heard anything so I called them up again. The guy I spoke to this time seemed slightly annoyed with my call and told me that my bike would be ready when they call me back. In an effort to give the bike techs some breathing room and avoid being a nagging customer, I sat tight for another week. When nearly three weeks had elapsed, I went into the store to make sure they hadn't forgotten about me. The tech who was supposedly in charge of my bike was out sick, but the guy I spoke with promised to have my bike ready the following day. He tried to right the other guys wrong, but informed me over the following day that I would need a new wheel because my hub had been discontinued by the manufacturer (It took over two weeks to get this information???). I asked him to put my bike back together and that I would be there to pick it up in half an hour. Even though they had kept my bike for nearly three weeks, they still charged me over $100-- mostly for labor. Ridiculous. The next day I picked up a new wheel and got my bike rolling again, but the front brake didn't bite at all. They had spilled chain lube all over the front rotor. I took the bike straight back to Outback. The guy who was originally supposed to perform the repairs to my bike had no idea who I was and didn't even recognize the bike until another bike tech informed him that I had been in the previous day. After some hesitation to fit me into his tight schedule, he agreed to have a look at the brakes for me. He didn't have time to sand them down and told me I'd have to leave the bike with them. YEAH, RIGHT! I went to REI and spent $60 on new pads and a rotor. After I did a brake change, the bike stopped on a dime again. I was just happy to have my bike rolling again, so I went for a ride today. The first big hill I got to, I shifted into my granny gear up front. The rear derailleur began clicking and when I tried to shift into the largest gear, the chain jumped off the cassette and lodged between the spokes (this never happened before I dropped the bike off). All this after two of my friends warned me about Outback. Should have taken their advice. read more

Short version: I love Outback bikes! My entire family is now cycling with bikes purchased here. I love the consistent service and no-pressure sales. Long version: I got my first bike at Outback in the summer of 2009. Well, my first bike since I was 10, I should say. I'm a very cautious person by nature, so learning to ride a bike again at age 26 was definitely not my idea. And whoever says, "you don't forget how," is lying. Cue my expert cyclist husband (then boyfriend) who insisted biking could be a great dating activity. After weeks of toughing it on a vintage Schwinn yard sale find, I was riding with a bit of success. Miles later of shifting gears with levers and lugging a steel frame... I was reluctantly ready to ride with more ease. We started bike shopping at Outback. The staff is really knowledgeable and relaxed. I don't know anything about bikes, much less specs or geometry. I'm petite and Mike/Edgemont determined I needed an extra small frame; they had a Specialized Dolce in my size. I took the test ride and loved the bike but I wanted to find something cheaper, it's not like I want to start racing or anything, right? After visiting every bike store inside the perimeter (and a few out), I realized the XS frame was not an easy find and Outback's prices were reasonable and competitive. A week after the original visit, back to Outback we headed. The Dolce was still there (phew!) and the guys negotiated a price I was comfortable with. Fast forward 3 years... I now love biking, who knew? My perfectly sized, modern bike has A LOT to do with that. I'm even considering an upgrade. I'll only go to Outback when that time comes. read more

Not only have I bought my bike here (after a lot of research), but I continually go back there for servicing and tuneups (free tuneups for life if you purchase your bike there!). This shop is fantastic: they're honest, trustworthy, and fair. My fiance brought my bike in a few weeks ago on my behalf for a tuneup. The service area was completely swamped, something like a week to a week and a half wait time. The gentleman behind the desk, as he told my fiance the bad news, looked at my bike once again... once he realized it was a commuter bike, he didn't want me to wait that long for a tuneup, so he quickly did what needed to be done that night so I could have my bike for my commute the next day (it was about 20 minutes of his time when the shop was about to close). He went above and beyond for me when their shop was completely slammed, and I am so grateful! read more
