The Ourbus I was on caught fire as in flames and smoke- right before the Lincoln Tunnel coming into NYC. The bus was out of control and the bus driver had to pull over on the side of the highway where there was no real room. I was scared to stay in the bus due to fear of the fire leading to an explosion but scared to exit as well due to traffic. There had been smoke already collecting in the bus. The driver ran out of the bus with a fire extinguisher. The fumes were toxic. The NYPD came and the Fire Dept. The Police were able to flag down a NJ Transit bus to take us into the city. If the police had not taken care of us I do not know how long we would have been stranded on the side of the highway. These buses are dangerous, have clearly not been serviced, and it is just not worth losing your life to try this bus company. Please try Flix or Greyhound or Peter Pan instead. read more

I booked a trip on 8/30/24 at 4:16 from Buffalo, NY to Niagara Falls. The pick-up option only showed Buffalo, NY. Within minutes we received an email confirmation stating our pick-up would be at a location other than the airport, so at 4:19 (just 3 minutes from making the booking) I reached out to customer support to cancel the booking. I was told it was too late to cancel and only an internal transfer was possible. There were no other buses that day, so I reached out again to try to transfer the booking for our return trip on 9/1, and was told that was not an option. We ended up booking a Lyft for the same price, so there is no advantage whatsoever to booking Our Bus. The customer service was horrible. Live agents offered no more help than the robot chat. My only option is to dispute the charge with my credit card company and report the business to the Better Business Bureau. Very disappointed! read more

I had a terrible experience. The bus was not safe to drive and was driven anyway from NYC to Boston (something wrong w the battery dying). The bus drove at half the speed limit on the highway and got honked at repeatedly by other buses/trucks and was very dangerous. The AC was not working due to this. The bus pulled over halfway through the journey in Hartford and told us it could not continue. we were required to uber in groups of 3-4 or the Uber would not be refunded. They are refusing to refund me for the inconvenience. although I understand things can happen, I find it very irresponsible to know that a bus has a problem and to continue driving it halfway nonetheless. because of the slow speed and breakdown, I got home 2 hours later at 3am instead of the 1am scheduled time, making it so I was unable to use public transit to get home because it was closed, and making me extremely tired for work on Monday morning as this was on a Sunday night. will not be using ever again read more

Our passengers are international students, their safety is our top priority. Unfortunately, the first collaboration with Ourbus was filled with uncertainty. Due to various reasons, Ourbus could not provide the bus driver's contact information until after 4 PM the day before the trip, which caused significant anxiety. We requested the driver's contact information for the entire week or at least three days in advance, but their customer service and dispatch manager repeatedly assured us that information would only be provided the afternoon before. The most stressful example is the bus driver for the second day who did not answer our calls. one of our colleague even considered using Uber to transport the students. Fortunately, the driver showed up at the dormitory at the last minute, allowing the day's trip to proceed smoothly. We understand that Ourbus aimed to provide high-quality charter service by emailing and calling us daily to update us on the driver's status and asking for feedback. However, they failed to address our concerns. Despite the week-long trip ending successfully with students safely returning home, this poor experience left our colleagues uneasy. Horrible customer service! We booked the bus trip from Boston to NYC. Trip to NYC went fine, but on the way back, it was a complete disaster. We were supposed to depart at 6pm from Port Authority. We came there 20 minutes early and were waiting in line with no info on what's going on until 6:45pm. At that point, we were told that the bus got some mechanical issues and that they sent somebody to fix it. They told us to wait and that they need some time to arrive. We waited until 7:40pm, when they finally told us that trip got canceled due to inability to start the bus. I had a flight scheduled that now needed to be rescheduled because of this. Also,one-way tickets that we needed to buy to get back were insanely inflated due to emergency and buying them at the last minute. They costed as much as the round trip. At the end, they let us know that we will be refunded, but only for one way ticket. I find this unacceptable. I lost 2 hours for them to just cancel the trip. Needed to reschedule my plane tickets which costed and then pay extra money to go back. When I asked them to at least pay the difference in tickets, they refused. My trip ended up costing 80$ more than initially, I lost 3 hours and I needed pay extra to change my flight. Never again! My name is Heather Austin and I rode an ourbus on Dec 20th that had no heat on a 5 to 6 hour bus ride from elmira ny to NYC. I spoke with the support team on chat regarding this issue and was told it would be 2 to 3 business days, yet I have heard nothing. I just contacted the live support again and spoke with the same person. He is not telling me to wait another 24 hours. I have already waited long enough and I am very angry regarding my trip. Everyone on the bus was freezing and that bus should have never been in rotation given it is winter time and heat is a must. Live chat is telling me that he hasn't heard back from the operator yet and that is unacceptable. I would have had a more comfortable trip riding in a freezer truck. There was a constant wind coming from the windows, my fingers and toes were frozen. I could barely type messages to support because my hands were so cold and they were hard to move. Once again this is unacceptable. This is the first time I have rode with ourbus and if this is how your business works, it will also be my last. read more

Do not book with Rally ourbus!! This company was the absolute worst! I booked two charter busses after they hounded me with a great deal. Then 4 days before the event they cancelled! I had a party of 100 seniors needing transportation to and from their grad party! They said they were in an accident and could only still provide transportation if I added another $1,400!!!!! Comparing Greyhound to Ourbus I've taken both Ourbus and Greyhound back and forth several times between NYC and Atlantic City. They both have their plus and minuses. Ourbus feels a little less sketchy (waiting for the bus at the Greyhound station in NYC feels dangerous at times). Greyhound has better shading for the ride. I have to wear both sunglasses and a hat to avoid the glare through the windows on Ourbus. The Wifi has been consistently better on Greyhound. I think the leg room is about the same between the two. I will warn you not to buy the Superpass on Ourbus if you are a person who needs to cancel/switch times because they steal your discount you paid for when you do this. So only worthwhile if you never need to change your mind. If you cancel or change tickets 3 times you've officially wasted your money. read more

Unreliable service, poor communication and terrible customer service. We booked with ourbus for a round trip from Ithaca ny. On the way back they changed the time of pickup to 90 minutes earlier, and the location of pickup from 180th street to 40th street. They sent a message describing time change but not location. When we called from the George Washington bridge bus station, they acted like missing the bus was our fault and eventually offered a partial discount - and stranded us in nyc. We got home thanks to their competition. We thoroughly regret trying to use their services and will not do so again. read more

Took a roundtrip, and both buses broke on the highway. The first bus from New York to Boston broke; it had some power issues... The second bus from Boston to New York broke; something to do with the cooling liquid... For both trips, we had to wait more than 2 hours to be picked up. While the drivers are trying to do everything in their power to make it work, it seems there is not a good plan from the company when these things happen. My trip NYC-DC was an exceptionally bad experience. I booked my trip on 11/6 in what I thought was well in advance due to always challenging holiday travel. On 11/9, I received an email from Ourbus stating there was a change to my trip. After reviewing the details, the only change I could visibly detect was the company providing the actual transportation had changed but nothing else. Not a problem, or so I thought but what I discovered later was the issue was undisclosed. Ourbus somehow went from being a nonstop trip to having an additional stop in Philly but prior to getting to Philly the bus made another stop in a parking lot for an unknown reason adding about 10-15 minutes onto this trip. Maybe this was to change drivers but once again undisclosed. Passengers weren't given the courtesy of an announcement. So, I noticed we were heading into Center City and once stopped I asked why were we stopping in Philly, saying this was supposed to be a direct trip. NYC-DC. The rep who was assisting the driver (who seemed non-English speaking) pulls up a different app (not Ourbus) to say this is what I have referring to the stop in Philly. I said that's not on the Ourbus app. Then he got a call apparently about additional passengers that were at that point getting on board. I walked away because there was nothing that I could do or anything that would fix this problem, and I was already aggravated. I knew I'd be late getting to my DC destination. I also tried calling Ourbus without success because their voice prompts do not have an option to connect with a live person, only limited options or return the main home menu. I tried messaging the company on IG but the rep said to look at the Route Details but those were not available possibly because the trip had started. Then she said she'd get back to me at approx. 1:30 PM. It took until 2:30 to get a response that the stop was included when I booked the trip, which didn't seem feasible. The estimated travel time from NYC to Philly to DC was 4 1/2 hours during a holiday travel period. Even the bus driver said the arrival ETA was 2:30. I'll just say here, not with two stops. It's 3:50 pm and the bus had just got out of BW Parkway traffic and was just getting to Stadium-Armory in a few minutes. The bus arrived at 4:00 PM. A six-hour trip. After this experience, I wouldn't advise using Ourbus for a number of reasons. My point is that accurate communication was nonexistent from Ourbus and I could have avoided or rescheduled if the company had been transparent about what was going on. The estimated travel time was off by 1 1/2 hours. If I knew there was an additional stop, I could have allowed for the travel time. It was an inconvenience and caused me to miss a connection causing an additional expense. The saying that comes to mind is "you get what you pay for." Next time, I will be exploring other more dependable alternatives. Also, there was no welcome and explanation to provide the passenger norms/expectations at the beginning. So one passenger has her feet with shoes on firmly planted in the seat next to her while people were getting on and then talked incessantly for about two hours about literally nothing worthwhile. I know because it was uninteresting and annoying, and even my music didn't drown out that conversation. read more

My husband has used twice weekly for several months now (Ithaca-NYC). Usually it works well. But twice the schedule has been changed at the last minute and the system for notifying passengers about changes is woefully inadequate. Tonight my husband arrived early for a 7 pm bus only to discover that the bus had left at 6 pm. His Ourbus app still listed his ticket as 7 pm. Ourbus claims an email was sent at 3:19 pm but he never received it. On the plus side, Ourbus responds fairly quickly to emails (pr@ourbus.com) but really they need to improve reliability and communication. read more

We had almost a 4 hour drive from NYC to Ithaca NY on a 90° day. They did not check the AC before departing and turns out it was broken. Everyone on the bus got lightheaded and sick for nearly 4 hours! The 2 people I was with and I were very close to pulling over and taking an Uber the rest of the way. Do not recommend. read more

I used Rally Ourbus to reserve two shuttles to transport guests on our wedding day. With no warning, 1 bus was sent instead of 2. Half of my guests were left to fend for themselves. When I called to remedy the situation, no fix was offered, and the salesman who sold my package boldly lied. No refund was offered until I fought for it (which I had to fight for multiple months.) The refund offered was far less than what was requested, which was half of my money considering I received half of my rental. In the end, after hours of sitting on the phone and arguing with "customer service" professionals who were rude and unempathetic, I received a meager refund of a few hundred dollars. I feel ripped off, and had stress added to my wedding day. This was a horrible experience and I highly recommend people find alternative options for bus or shuttle rentals. read more

We had a last minute trip to AC, car rentals were ridiculous for 1 day & greyhound 9am was sold out , 9am was the time we had to book. Hubby did a search & came across our bus, checking out reviews always helps, we know not everyone can have a good experience. First bus going to AC we had a mix up w the Lyft address & almost didn't make it we got there at 854am we were the last couple to board, bus driver even told us he was waiting for us.. lord it was a close call! This was a great experience , specially on our first ride we were thankful that even thought we were not totally late, the driver was aware of the riders & sounded like he was really looking out for us , the bus departed on time 901-02 as I recall, coming back home was the same departure was 1-2 minutes after. Both arrivals were prompt with both being a few minutes earlier. The buses do have USB & plug in charging available. They also provide water. This company saved our wknd getaway tickets were easy to book , good prices, decent comfortable buses both drivers were nice & friendly. Going forward our bus will be the first company we check for booking bus tickets, we had an enjoyable experience. read more

I planned a trip to NYC using OurBus months ahead of time. The night before I had to take the bus home, I got a text that my bus pickup was moved up SIX hours! I had to miss out on plans I had to go to a museum and the tickets for the museum were non-refundable. I called their customer service right after I got the text and the lady was very unhelpful. She said it isn't her fault and there is nothing she can do. I emailed their customer service saying I was very disappointed and they ruined my trip. I asked if a refund (or even a partial one!) was possible. They said I could've canceled and got a refund. Well I needed a ride home! I couldn't just cancel. They then said I should've contacted them before I took the bus home and not afterwards. I sent a screenshot of my call log and they said I should have used another way to contact them if the lady on the phone was unhelpful! That makes it seem like they're blaming me for "not trying hard enough" to get a refund sooner. Well spoiler- it's been 3 weeks and I never got a refund and I doubt I will. read more

my husband &I took the Ourbus yesterday from New York to Boston. it was one of the worst bus rides we have ever experienced. The driver wound slam on the brakes when no one was even in front of him .I sat next to the window that made so much noise the way home that I came home with the worst headache because of the noise & how jerky the ride was . I rented a Pary Bus for 35 from Rally Our Bus. The day of the event they did NOT SHOW UP, and did not call to say they would not be coming. They never answered why they did not show. We went from AC to NYC due to unfortunate flight changes from FL, saved 1/2 the cost using OurBus Compare to Greyhound. Took a chance and it was well worth the savings. Seats were comfortable, AC was working, great driver, pickup/dropoff was on time. Easy scan in. I can't complain. Definitely recommend, will ride with them next time . read more

This has been the worst experience with a bus company that I have ever had. First my trip from NY- Bridgeport was rescheduled to an earlier time and I got a text notification an hour prior to the departure. I had to cancel it because I wasn't going to make it on time. I told them to cancel the return also on 11/26 because I won't be going anymore and was told it was cancelled (never got an email confirmation) but that the money will go back to a wallet because they aren't able to refund it since I used credits to purchase that ticket. I told them my original purchase for 11/26 was screwed up to begin with which led to me having to reschedule that also! I was told after the second phone call that the trip is indeed cancelled and that a ticket was opened to see if they can refund the return ticket. I never got a call back for an update, I never got a cancellation email as I was told and I still get text notifications if I got on the bus today. I highly doubt the trip cancelled and I TRULY doubt that I will ever get that refund back, not even a credit. Every time I spoke to someone over the phone it sounded like a bunch of bullshit and I was just told what I wanted to hear to get me off the phone and when I chatted with someone it sounded like they were following a script. I'm over this company and I will NEVER book again. My family and I travel so much between NY and Connecticut and I will make sure I don't ever suggest this company to ANYONE. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY. I reserved two motorcoaches in January of 2024 for my wedding in August 2024. I signed the contract and sent in the deposit payment all on time per the contract. I received multiple confirmation emails about my trip. My wedding venue reached out to Ourbus a couple of weeks before the wedding asking for their insurance. The company sent it over with no issue. Two nights before my wedding, I emailed Ourbus asking for the names of the drivers so my husband and I could write checks to them for tips. I did not receive an email back. On the Friday before my wedding, (less than 24 hours before our reservation) I received two phone calls back to back that said potential spam so I did not answer. I received a voicemail saying it was Ourbus and to call them back asap regarding my trip for the next day. I immediately called back and spoke with Roger who said he had a question about the buses at 1:30. I told him we did not have buses at 1:30 and per our contract we had two buses at 3:30. He then said okay I have to check something and I will call you back in 15 minutes. He was acting very strange and I kept asking him what was going on. He couldn't give me any answer. I waited 20 minutes with no phone call, so I called back and was told one of the buses broke down so they only had one 55 passenger bus to send me. I told Roger he needed to find another bus to replace this broken bus with. He said they had already called other places and could not find one. My husband started calling other places to try to find another bus last minute and got in touch with Bedore. They said they had our reservation from January through Ourbus, but Ourbus never sent our payment through to them. Bedore tried reaching them multiple times to send payment and were unsuccessful. They then had to cancel our buses. We never received any message about sending payment other than the initial deposit which was sent and then the remaining balance which was paid 2 days early to the due date. I then called Ourbus after learning they never sent our payment and lied about a bus being broken. I told them they needed to find another bus per our contract seeing as they messed up the reservation. Roger continued to say he couldn't find anything and they could give us a partial refund. In the meantime we ended up finding a life saving company last minute to provide us with transportation for our wedding the next day. I told Roger we would be canceling the bus he said he had because I didn't trust anything he said anymore. Ourbus did give us a full refund, but they caused a lot of stress and problems only giving us one day notice that they did not have our buses. Do NOT recommend booking with Ourbus. Saw some bad reviews here but I can't say I had the same experience. I was actually pleasantly surprised the bus experience went smoothly. Easy to find the bus on Madison between 26 and 27. Hop on and find your way to comfy cloth seats with good leg room from the next row. O and before you hop on, you can grab complimentary water (I grabbed two because I was thirsty). But the ride was great. Really can't complain at all. I would definitely take this bus company again read more

Greetings It pains me to write this because they used to be a stellar service and a business that I wanted to support. However, something has clearly changed for the worst. A bathroom with no tissue or sanitizer. Additionally,  there was no wifi and no advanced warning or announcement of that fact. I'm a business traveler and this caused a MAJOR problem. We are currently stranded in a broken down bus on the side of the New Jersey turnpike. The date is Sunday November 12th, our trip took off at 3pm from NYC to DC and we have been broken down for over an hour now. No information has been given from the driver except he showed us a belt that came off the bus and said the bus was broken. No information is being given on if a bus is going to pick us up or how much longer this can take. This is ridiculous. I'm never riding on Ourbus again. Update: the police are here. We have been stranded for two hours. There is still no other bus coming. Second update: What was supposed to be a 4 hour bus ride turned into a 10 hour ordeal. Worst decision of my life was booking with Ourbus. We got towed to a mechanic shop and then were told the bus couldn't be repaired and at that point we were on our own in a small town in the middle of nowhere in New Jersey. I had to arrange my own transportation back to DC and didn't make it back until well past midnight. read more

Lack of transparency in refund process. Hassle-filled experience. Upon cancelling a ticket, my funds went into the website's "OurBus Wallet" which we can use on future trips. The refund policy in the FAQ section of the website stated "If you purchased your ticket directly from the OurBus website/app and are canceling more than 24 hours before the departure time, you'll also have the option to get a full refund." My refund request was well within this window period. What should have been a seamless no-hassle refund process, I instead had to go through a continuous back and forth with multiple representatives before finally getting the credit back to TRANSFER TO PAYPAL rather than sending directly to my bank/credit card. This took a month to do. There are other conversations that I forgot to take screenshots, but it was a constant back-and-forth in reminding me I can use the credit for future travels. The lack of comprehension was one thing, but the delay afterwards was of extreme annoyance. It didn't take 24 hours to process, but a bit under an entire month to give me the credit to then only transfer to paypal. This is a warning to prospective customers. OurBus, I hope you read this and make the proper organizational changes in your operating procedures. If you're going to offer full refunds, don't create deterrents and unexplained delays to your customers. read more

I booked a trip with OurBus through Wanderu. The location was listed as Hudson Yards, but without any specific details. No e-ticket was sent. I tried to contact the company, but there was no response until after the bus had already left. Then, 25 minutes after the bus departed, they finally sent me an email with the ticket. They refused to refund my money, even as store credit. This seems like a scam company to me, and I will not use their services again. I highly do not recommend them, especially since there are so many companies that help you right away. I very rarely write one-star reviews, but this situation definitely warrants it. read more
