This spot really delivers when it comes to flavor. The chive dumplings and the corn dumplings were both standouts, each bite had a great balance of filling to wrapper, with just the right mix of meat, vegetables, and delicate skin. A splash of vinegar tied everything together nicely and kept the flavors feeling bright instead of heavy. The eggplant dish was flavorful and satisfying, though the skins were a touch on the firmer side, personally, I think they could benefit from a bit more cooking time. That said, the seasoning was spot-on, and it's one of those dishes that grows on you the more you eat it. The staff were warm and attentive, taking the time to walk us through the menu and check in regularly without being overbearing. The space itself is also very accommodating, with plenty of room for strollers, wheelchairs, or just a more comfortable dining experience overall. Location-wise, it's super convenient, just a couple of blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station and right near the main streets of Shattuck and University, making it an easy stop whether you're local or just passing through.

Great place to eat after work, just a block away from UC Berkeley. Soup dumplings are a must, scallion pancake and the cucumber salad were delicious as well. The beef signature wide noodles taste great, especially since everything was made in house.

Pork and scallion dumplings, chicken chow mein

Continuing my yearlong journey trying all the new hand-pulled noodle places popping up around town, I had to try this spot that just opened a few weeks ago. I'd say it's a 3.5 star restaurant that still working on operations and service. The place was full for a Friday night dinner, but no queue yet. It feels spacious as there are fewer tables than the space can probably accommodate. I'm used to Chinese restaurants packing you in like sardines :) So that's nice. For the life of me I can't recall what was in this space before but it looks lightly updated from whatever it was before. There was just 1 server working the entire dining room. So he doesn't have time to check on your table or make any small talk. He's too busy running around. On to the food, we had pork and scallion dumplings, which were my favorite thing we had. Great flavor and perfect thickness of dough. I like it thicker than what I normally find at dim sum. Also had chicken chow mein, which was also flavorful, but not a lot of chicken pieces. Also had garlic string beans. Good flavor but it tasted old/not fresh from the texture. A lot of reviews mentioned the sesame balls so had that for dessert. These were small so not too big. I liked that they were hot when delivered to the table because often times at dim sum it's room temp. Good chewy dough, but I wish there was more sweet filling. We ended up not getting noodle soup because it was a warm day, so I regret not trying it. But now I have a reason to come back to see how operations improved next time!

The flavor is not enjoyable, even though I like all the vegetables that went into it. That being said, the texture of the rice roll is great - the custard buns have such a gritty filling that it totally eclipses how delicious the bao dough is. The filling flavor and sweetness is good. Idk why they keep sabotaging themselves with these almost-good dishes - they will bring out dishes as they're ready, which meant I was served desserts before savory dishes - you'll need to request a spoon for certain rice roll dishes; the fillings poured out when you tried to eat them

It is a small restaurant with indoor seating and I did notice that there were a lot of DoorDash / to go orders going out. As we were one of the few people dining in, we were seated right away and put in our orders. It only took a few minutes for the food to come out hot and fresh. I decided to try the shrimp wonton soup as it looked very comforting for a chilly day. Starting with the broth, it has a nice, richly seasoned chicken flavor. The noodles here are very long but maintain a chew which is perfect for slurping. The greens were a little on the tough side as my personal preference would be for it to be a bit tender to bite into and eat. The soup have a good quantity of both the shrimp and the wontons. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, while the wontons were soft and packed with flavor. Overall, I would love to come here again and try different items on the menu!

We dined here with my grandmother, who uses a wheelchair, and the restaurant was unable to accommodate her in an accessible or safe manner. Staff told us the wheelchair lift was not working, and the dining room with accessible tables was "not in service." Instead of providing a safe alternative, staff carried my grandmother while she remained seated in her wheelchair up and down stairs. This was extremely concerning, not only unsafe, but it also raises serious questions about what would happen during an emergency evacuation. Beyond safety, this impacted her dignity. A person who uses a wheelchair should be able to enter and dine independently, not be physically carried, because accessibility features are unavailable. It was also frustrating that the one space designed to be accessible without stairs was not available for use. Accessibility should not be optional. I will be reporting this to the appropriate state and city officials. I hope this is addressed so others are not put in the same situation. On a side note: the view was beautiful, and the food was good. However, the lack of accessible service and the violation of disability rights are extremely concerning.

It's getting harder to find places in the Bay Area that still do it this way, mostly because restaurants just don't have the space anymore for carts to weave between tightly packed tables. That alone makes this place feel a little special. The food itself tastes fresh, and yes, the hot sauce passes the test. I've had a few unfortunate (and slightly traumatizing) encounters with off-tasting sauces during the pandemic, so now I always do a cautious smell-and-taste check first. They also serve "tofu fa" (tofu pudding) with a sweet ginger syrup, which was a pleasant surprise. It's one of my favorite desserts and not something you see often at dim sum spots these days since it's not in high demand. Definitely brought back some nostalgic, childhood vibes. Just a heads up, this place gets busy quickly. If you can, try to arrive within the first hour after opening. Otherwise, be prepared to wait a bit, it's popular for a reason.

I got the #2015 Salt and Pepper Fish Filet lunch special with hot and sour soup of the day, egg roll, and substituted-in fried rice. I was served the hot and sour soup first. It was a wonderful appetizer. The classic spicy pepper and sour vinegar were balanced. The bits of crunchy mushroom and soft tofu added interest and texture to the thick broth. This was comfort in a bowl. The entree was delicious. The fried fish was hot off the wok when it arrived, steaming on the plate along with fried rice, broccoli, an egg roll, and some sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed the fish; the heat of the jalapeno slices and the salt elevated the light crispiness and mild sweetness of the fish. The fried rice was light and fluffy with bits of egg.
