    chicken fried rice

I came here for lunch with a group of 6! We ordered a few things and everyone was happy with their meal. I had the dumpling soup, my friend had the chicken fried rice, another had the pork fried rice, another had the braised beef noodle soup and we shared vegetable eggrolls. When you arrive you may see someone making their house made dumplings in the window! I really liked my soup with the red chili paste they set out on the tables and the vinegar. Most of us left with to go boxes with leftovers to take home. I would definitely return here and suggest others to check it out whole in the area.

So I found my new favorite noodle spot near campus. What makes this place stand out is THE BEEF. so good. you can really taste that the beef has been braised, whereas I've typically found that beef at the other noodle spots tend to just taste like meat. here, the flavor has really been soaked up. not to mention that the broth itself is equally flavorful, you get wood ear mushrooms in addition to bokchoy, and the noodles are perfectly chewy! all for only 13.99 with hearty leftovers for another meal. will be back :)

Great authentic Chinese food in Berkeley. On top of that, they make their noodles and dumplings on the spot. Only ordered small dishes, but I bet almost everything on the menu is excellent. Would eat here again when craving some fresh Chinese food.

First time trying our family kitchen. To confirm they make fresh dumplings, a worker is making them fresh in the front window. We ordered a variety of dishes - scallion pancake, vegetarian mapo tofu, vegetarian dumplings, garlic broccoli and vegetarian chow mein. The scallion pancake was ok, overly greasy and pretty thin for a pancake. Dumplings had a nice thin wrap but the inside could use more flavor for a veg dumpling. The chow mein was the best dish but also came out last. Broccoli was ok, nothing too special and I probably would go for the string beans next time. The mapo had very soft tofu but the sauce tasted premade. Service was friendly and fast. Ordering is through the online server.

This spot really delivers when it comes to flavor. The chive dumplings and the corn dumplings were both standouts, each bite had a great balance of filling to wrapper, with just the right mix of meat, vegetables, and delicate skin. A splash of vinegar tied everything together nicely and kept the flavors feeling bright instead of heavy. The eggplant dish was flavorful and satisfying, though the skins were a touch on the firmer side, personally, I think they could benefit from a bit more cooking time. That said, the seasoning was spot-on, and it's one of those dishes that grows on you the more you eat it. The staff were warm and attentive, taking the time to walk us through the menu and check in regularly without being overbearing. The space itself is also very accommodating, with plenty of room for strollers, wheelchairs, or just a more comfortable dining experience overall. Location-wise, it's super convenient, just a couple of blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station and right near the main streets of Shattuck and University, making it an easy stop whether you're local or just passing through.

Very nice, super reasonably priced option for Chinese food in Berkeley. Beef bao buns were seasoned perfectly. The soup dumplings were a little disappointing because they were obviously frozen items and then reheated because they were still in there foil sleeves. The fried rice was not greasy at all and very tasty, as were the scallion pancakes. Condiments were vinegar, chili oil, and soy sauce. Don't ask for duck sauce or you'll get the side eye like I did from the server

Quick and attentive service! The server gave us great recommendations based on our food restrictions and also--and you won't get this at every Chinese place--a consideration of the flavors and textures of the other items we had already ordered. This guaranteed a variety in our family-style meal as good as if we had been going to the restaurant for years, but without the trial and error that typically comes with developing that kind of ordering expertise. One appetizer, one veggie dish, one noodle dish, and one order of dumplings was enough for 3 people and leftovers besides. Good vegan options as well as for pescatarians, will definitely be going back to try more. Expected everything to be too salty, as Chinese restaurants in the US are wont to do, but sodium levels here were perfect for me. I was pleasantly surprised! I prefer my dumplings without any additional condiments but others in my party used some. The hard part will be NOT ordering everything that was so delicious again. A member of our party was in a wheelchair but they accommodated us easily. You can watch them make dumplings up front, which is fun for kids while they wait (not long) for the food to arrive.

The soup dumplings are mediocre and missing some authentic flavor; however, the noodles and side dishes are quite tasty. The service is good too. It has an upgraded hole-in-the-wall feel.

Great place to eat after work, just a block away from UC Berkeley. Soup dumplings are a must, scallion pancake and the cucumber salad were delicious as well. The beef signature wide noodles taste great, especially since everything was made in house.

Continuing my yearlong journey trying all the new hand-pulled noodle places popping up around town, I had to try this spot that just opened a few weeks ago. I'd say it's a 3.5 star restaurant that still working on operations and service. The place was full for a Friday night dinner, but no queue yet. It feels spacious as there are fewer tables than the space can probably accommodate. I'm used to Chinese restaurants packing you in like sardines :) So that's nice. For the life of me I can't recall what was in this space before but it looks lightly updated from whatever it was before. There was just 1 server working the entire dining room. So he doesn't have time to check on your table or make any small talk. He's too busy running around. On to the food, we had pork and scallion dumplings, which were my favorite thing we had. Great flavor and perfect thickness of dough. I like it thicker than what I normally find at dim sum. Also had chicken chow mein, which was also flavorful, but not a lot of chicken pieces. Also had garlic string beans. Good flavor but it tasted old/not fresh from the texture. A lot of reviews mentioned the sesame balls so had that for dessert. These were small so not too big. I liked that they were hot when delivered to the table because often times at dim sum it's room temp. Good chewy dough, but I wish there was more sweet filling. We ended up not getting noodle soup because it was a warm day, so I regret not trying it. But now I have a reason to come back to see how operations improved next time!

The corn cakes were fried just right so they were golden on the outside but soft on the inside and the slaw and sweet sauce elevated it. I would get both appetizers again. For entrees we had: Mama Pad Kee Moa (3.5/5) - instant noodles with fresh veggies and very thin beef. Flavor was good, but the beef missed the mark because it was lacking. Massaman Gai Curry (5/5) - the curry was so flavorful in this dish and the soft potato complimented it very well. Definitely the winner of the night. Chicken Khao Pad (Fried Rice) (3/5) - rice was a little too dry and the thinly cut chicken again did not pop out in the dish. Overall, very fresh and authentic Thai dishes. The green curry noodles came with vermicelli, and I wanted to try it since it's what they recommend, but it just was not the right texture for the curry I felt. The flavor of the curry itself was not super flavorful. I felt like more coconut milk could have been added to coat the noodles more. The spring rolls were good. I enjoyed the peanut sauce. We also sat at the front by the door, and it was rather cold in that seat.
