Good GF/V pizza option for families with allergies. Pizza crust was good and the toppings add a lot of flavor. Will definitely be back.

We ordered a pizza for deliver at 6:05 this evening from OTTO"S in Exeter. The site said 30 to 40 minutes We paid on line including a $4.63 Service Fee and another $2 tip. We live on High St less than a MILE from the location. We waited and finally called at 7:25. Ottos said it was picked up a while ago by GRUBHUB so they could not help AT ALL. So I call GRUBHUB and after a few minutes they said the pizza was delivered and it would be outside your door on the ground. So after 90 minutes and $45 we get a pizza that was outside in 40 degree temperature on the ground for 45 minutes. YES it was COLD and STALE and no one cares. The food is great, but I wouldn't call it worth the wait. Fix your website if it's going to say that food will be ready at a certain time and it takes an extra 20 minutes. NOT worth the price. Happens every time I order from here. I wish I could review it separately as a sit down restaurant, that side is great. I stopped in today for the first time with my husband and we ordered a plain cheese pizza to go. We brought it home to enjoy and we both agreed it was delicious pizza!! Perfect amount of sauce/cheese and quality ingredients. Very similar to north end Italian style pizza (thin crust) . Wait time was 20 minutes and was ready within that quoted time. Great service - good pizza and really nice drinks and dessert (cookies). You can even keep the bill reasonable if you're smart about it. BUT the "ranch" dressing is the worst salad dressing I have ever had in my life. It's like someone mixed sour cream and water and blanched the lettuce in it. I had only ever gotten slices of Otto's in Cambridge and loved it, so was excited when they came to Exeter. Ordered a to-go order of two large pizzas and 2 Ceasar salads and the bill came to $75! Perhaps I'm old school, but since when should that amount of food cost that much (even with "inflation")?! I've tried Otto twice. Same issue both times, good pizza horrendous service. First time: dined in. Hostess fouled up the wait list. 15 minutes turned into 45 with multiple tables seated before us because she crossed our name off the list even though I was standing right outside and she had contact with me multiple times. An "I'm sorry " tossed over your shoulder is not the way to handle the problem. Once inside the service was okay and the pizza was good. Second time: ordered online, given 6:50-7 for pick up. Arrived at 7 left at 730. No apology, it looked like no one knew what they were doing. Pizza was also good. Otto I want to love you but your service and management is horrific. Having been very impressed with the Andover location we were pleased to find out OTTO was in Exeter 10 minutes form our house. We called ahead for a party of 7 earlier in the day but told reservations were for parties of 10 or more. No problem for pizza this good we would take our chances. We arrived and were told 45-55 minutes, again no problem this is about the only pizza I would wait that long for. At 35 minutes into the wait the host said they were too busy and the manager had told her they would not be seating anyone else for the night. We eat out 4 nights a week and often run into glitches in service but I felt the manager should have stepped up and not left a young girl to tell patrons that had been waiting for sometime that they could not seat them. Again I did not eat at this location and can say that the Andover location has the best pizza around. Hopefully Exeter can get things in order and have the same success. I was hoping it would get better but it hasn't. Our pizza always comes so soggy or so chewy it's uncomfortable to eat it. And the warmer they put in the take out side isn't super safe. I burned my fingers pretty significantly on it. The high school help is to busy chatting or on their phones to care about the orders too. Missing half an order today. Last time going there. Let's be clear - the two stars is because when the pizza is right, it's a great pizza! Not being told the wait time for a takeout order is over an hour after ordering IN THE RESTAURANT is unacceptable. We sat at the tables on the takeout side that were "seat yourself" and as a group of 7, we used two normal sized booths. We were told the water glasses and carafes were only for the restaurant side and that we were not to use them and as you can imagine... waiting an hour for the food and the during the time you're eating the food... you get thirsty. As we were finishing our pizza, the manager came and started picking up our pizza boxes and told us that she got complaints that our "trash was taking up tables." It was uncomfortable to tell her that there was actually leftover pizza in those boxes that we would be taking home with us. It's a little funny to call their own pizza in pizza boxes trash! After she still insisted we clear one of our two tables and squish 7 into a single booth... no one sat down to use that table and one person in our party pointed out another takeout table that had been completely empty the entire time we had been there. Such an odd encounter. More recently the pizza we ordered old school was not prepared old school and after being told it was (I had to actually show her the pizza twice for her to understand because she told me I was wrong and that what they'd prepared was old school) and we were told we could wait at least 20 minutes for another cheese pizza that was actually made old school. This takeout employee is not new and I'm surprised she didn't see the error when I showed her. The three stars not earned is due to the lack of care for the customer experience. Communication is so important. Proper training and positive attitude on the takeout side seems to be a recurring issue. I ordered 2 pizzas a salad and garlic bread online on Friday night. Super easy ordering. My husband was able to leave his shift at the hospital and pop in to pick up our dinner with no problem even though it was packed on a busy Friday night in Exeter. Food was so yummy- the spicy pulled pork was new for us but we always get the mashed potato bacon which is soooo good! read more

Otto has two different types of ovens depending on where you order from in the beginning I was getting my pizza or Newburyport the Pizza's were always burnt. They never follow the directions but then I tried the one in Exeter, New Hampshire, and they use a an entirely different oven system when I order from them, I never get a burnt pizza. the people who work there are extremely pleasant. They have gone out of their way several times to accommodate. I would personally like to thank the Exeter New Hampshire store for going out of their way, and helping me out in a situation that due to no fault of theirs or myself, it was the delivery company. An employee of that restaurant when they finished shift delivered a pizza to my house personally, I was very appreciative. This was after ordering a pizza through the delivery company twice and waited for 2 1/2 hours one time and over three hours the second time. I personally would like to thank them. Ever since Luigi's closed (hopefully temporarily) in Portsmouth, I've been searching for a replacement to satisfy my pizza tooth. Otto in Exeter has proved themselves to worthy of comparison. I ordered a large build-your-own online, adding blue cheese to a large cheese. The crust was delightfully chewy. My one criticism was it was a tad undercooked for my liking, but I could have and will ask for it to be cooked well-done in the future. The sauce is delicious, reminiscent of Regina and the cheese combination reminds me of a Papa Gino's consistency. Generous dollops of blue cheese covered the entire pie. I ate there with family last evening. The pizza was very good. Service was excellent. However. . . . DO NOT order the Tiramisu. It is NOT Tiramasu; it is simply vanilla pudding sprinkled with cocoa powder and cinnamon. That for $5.95 when I can get REAL tiramusi at my Market Basket for $4.79. Maybe Otto's dessert bakers should check with Market Basket's bakers for a recipe. read more
