I've been here about four times now and it somehow gets worse every single time. They ALWAYS forget at least one meal. On a previous visit they completely forgot our pizza order, and this last time they forgot to put one in again so it came out 10 minutes after everyone else had their food. My meal was sitting at the counter ready while the rest of our party had already been eating for 15 minutes, and the waitress was standing around chatting it up with her coworker instead of bringing it over, even though the restaurant was almost completely empty. Saturday 8/20/22 we sat down had a waitress name Cynthia (Cindi) . Atmosphere was wonderful, chicken wings unbelievably filled with so much flavor.Asked for them w/ no sauce. I had a great experience here and will come back! We walked in on a Saturday evening and there was no wait. First off, their drink menu looks delicious. I thought they only had beer, because it doesn't show cocktails on their website, but they have a full bar. However, I decided to just skip right to the pizza. So glad they have GF crust!! It was cooked perfectly and came out pretty quickly after ordering. Our server was super attentive and friendly; she checked on us multiple times. The best part of the evening was the s'mores dessert. It is awesome roasting marshmallows at the table and making your own. The tray includes different kinds of marshmallows, as well as plain. Not sure if they switch it up sometimes, but mine came with strawberry, cookies n cream, and nerds flavor (candies inside). I would definitely get this dessert again! Met my daughter and grand baby at Community Oven for dinner. Our service was exceptional. We chose to share a Taco Pizza which was delicious. We enjoyed a couple of draught beers- Shed for me ( a real treat) and a Dogfish 60 minute for Amanda. As far as I'm concerned-a perfect evening. Ordered a plain cheese for take out and was told 30-35 minutes........OK it's the day after Christmas and things are probably busy, no worries I thought. 17 bucks for a plain cheese that might have weighed a pound........even my friend said " feels light" as I handed her the box while getting into my car. I could feel it sliding from side to side in the box.....so I knew it didn't fill up the 16" box! NO CHAR on the crust and the taste was nothing special. Ordered a "family salad" and asked whether the salad would be too much for just two people stating we wanted to share a steak tip salad. Given the salad was $40 we assumed it would be a good amount of food with the steak and cheesy bread. Overall with tip it was over $60 and when we got home we had a salad with over a 1/4cup of sunflower seeds on it and only 6 steak tips. After calling to see if I might have missed some of my order when I picked up, the manager told me we got exactly what we ordered and if we wanted more steak we should have ordered two portions even though that's what we asked for. She said the portion of steak at market value is fair at over $16. It's hard to want to go back to a place after telling them it's our first time ordering there and asking questions about the menu before ordering, only to have the staff not put the order through the way we wanted it then saying it's our fault we didn't order what we wanted instead of understanding that this clearly isn't a good value and helping to ensure return business. I love the Community Oven's BIG chicken wings and the Lawson's Sip of Sunshine on tap (I'll not buy their cans again: it is so much better on tap! The stuff in cans is unremarkable for $16 per 4-pack). However, I have trouble getting my wife to go here as she has such unpredictable and inconsistent results with the GF pizza. She has no choice being Celiac and must get GF pizza. Once they served her a GF crust with not much of anything on it, cheese included? The bartender rolled his eyes serving it and comped it as we didn't want to wait for another effort. On another visit her pizza wasn't cooked enough and the GF dough was mushy. What's so difficult in making a decent GF pizza? This restaurant specializes in pizza. I managed to talk her into going here last Saturday night. It has probably been over a year since our last visit. We like sitting at the bar and if lucky have a good view of the multiple TVs. We found two good TV viewing barstools and the US Open was on: perfect. I ordered my wings well-done (to make sure they are fully cooked - the first few times eating these I was served wings with red meat next to the bone - ordering well-done solves this problem.) $14.50 for five big wings and they came out perfectly charred but not burnt. More charred than the menu picture but I ordered well done and got what I expected. No celery or carrots accompanied my Buffalo Sauce and Blue Cheese dips - the bartender stated they don't come with the wings? My wife ordered the GF Margherita pizza: small only = 12" and the GF crust is a $6.00 adder on to the $16.50 small pizza price. Is this $6 to discourage people from ordering GF? She added mushrooms too for another $1.00 - which is very reasonable, $1.00 per added item. However, $23.50 for a 12" pizza is pricey. Take a look at the picture I included: not much on this pizza. On the remaining half I count maybe 6 slices of mushrooms and 2 slices of tomato. I can't see the basil leaves but they must be the dark stuff which doesn't look like the menu picture. I'd estimate one small tomato was used and two or three mushrooms sliced thin for the whole pie. On the plus side, plenty of cheese. Why is her GF pizza prepared and served with next to nothing on it? The difficult and expensive thing for any restaurant is getting people to come in the door, either by advertising or good word-of-mouth. The easy and inexpensive thing is to put a little effort into making the food eye appealing, cooked to perfection, tasty, and decent value. With the smallest of efforts this could've been a great pizza. Why can't a pizza restaurant like the Community Oven make a decent pizza? I can only assume that their wheat pizzas are equally inconsistent based on our experiences here. I'll miss their wings. read more

I thought since I had a Taste of the Seacoast dining deal that I would give The Community Oven a second chance. I was equally disappointed in their inability to create a decent tasting pizza. Despite their fresh ingredients and beautiful brick oven the pizza was simply bland, off balanced, too cheesy, and under-sauced. I also tried the Blue Lobster Nut Brown Ale with the pie and that was an equal disappointment. My first attempt at homebrewing was better than that! I also don't like the design of their booths. You can feel the knocks and vibrations of every move of people sitting two booths away. We had kids near us that made our benches feel like D-BOX seat at a movie theater. Update: Tough critic? Out of 87 reviews there are 77 with more stars than your place (Way more than half are 4 - 5 stars) My initial review was articulate and fair. I listed pros and cons. I even took a photo as proof that your pizza was cheap on the toppings. What I didn't mention was that I took last week's leftovers to work and the two co-workers that ate it also thought the pizza was subpar. I'm not alone with my opinion. We decided to try Community Oven in Epping again last night 8-29-23 after our last not so good experience some time ago. So we ordered takeout as we usually do and found out nothing has changed. The order consisted of three pizzas (different from sizes) and two chicken salads. We ordered a large Aloha pizza and we added bacon with no BBQ sauce, it came with BBQ sauce and no bacon. The salads did not come with the dressing they were supposed to have. The overall quality of the food is mediocre. Please this note this is not the first time we've had problems with our order it's every time we've ordered from them. We like to give local businesses our business but for pizza we will have to take a longer drive to Otto pizza or Thirsty Moose in Exeter or Gas Light in Portsmouth. read more
