One of the top dining establishments in the Seacoast, better than anywhere in Portsmouth! Exeter is becoming the best town for dining, in fact, Ambrose, next door to Otis also makes my top 5 in the area. We frequent Otis and love to sit at the chef table and watch Lee Frank do his magic. If you want romance, request the two top by the window. The menu changes weekly so it's tough to recommend anything. Anthony Bourdain used to warn about ordering chicken at a restaurant. Chef Frank has mastered making chicken the highlight of the evening.

Quite a few very positive comments here, and we confirmed them last night. Lee Frank put on an awesome one man cooking demonstration for us. We were front and center at the 4-person chefs table. Reservations are a must, and they also give you the chance to preview the 5 course tasting menu for the evening. It's not an alacart menu. 2 seatings per night. They offer a full bar and nice wine selection. The service was excellent. What makes this hidden gem shine is the food pairings for each dish. Layers of flavor! The Lamb; cooked perf, brazed carrots & Brussel sprouts, rich brown sauce, over potato & feta. Four more dishes just as well layered, awsomness! Each dish was well plated and coordinated flavors. Chefs table seats 4, many other tables, it's a relatively small restaurant, hope you find it as enjoyable as we did.

Finally made it to Otis, and enjoyed an exceptional meal start to finish. The bonus was that we were able to sit at the chef's table and had the pleasure to meet owner/chef Lee Frank, and chef Matt Berry (of Dahlia) who was the sous chef for the evening. The two of them made the dinner that much more enjoyable. At this time Otis is doing a 5 course prix fixe menu with 2 seatings per evening. The first seating is at 5:30 and ends at 7:30, a bit tight but they nailed it, and I can't say we felt rushed at all. There are two choices for each course, and the menu is updated weekly. Since there were two of us dining, we were able to select every dish offered. Some dishes were stronger than others, but not a bad one on the menu. Cocktails were also very good, as well as a nice wine selection. There is some real talent here, and Exeter is fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber, and glad to see the community supporting this style of creative dining. As the food changes frequently, I won't get into the dishes, but have posted a number of pictures. My favorite of each course was: The squash soup, Gnocchi, Duck, Beef and Sticky toffee pudding. Go check this place out!

This is a brutally honest review of the food here, not reflecting on the service or accommodations, which were very well done, but rather the overall taste and satisfaction of the foods that we had during this tasting. So, Otis is a restaurant that has a local celebrity chef that does 2 tasting courses for guests, reservations are a must and the seating is intimate (like 3 tables) and if not able to get that then you'll be at bar seating if space is available, so the whole thing is constructed to be an experience. I'll preface this by saying, I'm a foodie and snobbish when it comes to these things, so I set the bar pretty high having come from a food festival/ fine dining background, and have eaten at top restaurants in NY and LA, so I'm coming in hot with this one. We called last minute and got seating at the bar, the bartender and hostess were very friendly and helpful with drinks and seating, so now, for the food. 1) The Soup- Best part of the meal, fresh delectable, filling, flavorful, and well done (A+) 2) The Salad- Underdressed, Plain, Ordinary, Lackluster (D) 3) The Pasta- Decent texture but missing ingredients, sauce was watery, Ricotta helped but couldn't save the dish (C) 4) The Duck- Tries but fails, gamey and chewy, also needs something to give it a kick (C) 5) King Salmon- Plain, Too Fishy, Undercooked, Nicely plated but thats it (D) 6) The Steak- Also undercooked, too rare for my taste even though I said medium, Blue cheese in the grits was too underwhelming, was rooting for this dish but fell short (C) 7) Desserts- Both of these were bangers, so they finished strong on the sweets and were delicious (A) So overall, I know the chef has acclaim, lots of write ups, been on a bunch of shows, and really sets the stage for me to be impressed, but I wasn't However, like I told the hostess, I appreciate and applaude bringing this type of experience to Exeter, something that will enhance the towns appeal and dining experience, he is doing what he loves and creating something for people to come too and enjoy, so I wish him and his staff well. But if this were the Bachelor, I don't think he'd get a rose to move onto the next round. Sorry Chef

Wow! I don't know where to start. We were a party of 5 for the 7:30 seating. It's a great concept, either a 5:30 or 7:30 seating, $75pp for an amazing 5 course meal where you get to choose between two items in each course. Service was friendly, relaxed, very well run and efficient. And then the meal. Perfectly executed, beautiful and simply delicious. The menu changes weekly, and this week I chose the sweet potato soup, the spatzle with local cheese, the chicken with a beautiful spinach sauce, pork tenderloin that was the most tender pork I have ever had, sitting on a bed of grits and the sticky toffee pudding, which was so rich and filling I couldn't finish it. We'll definitely come back and this time maybe bring our husbands. Thank you Otis!

A hidden gem of Exeter! Never thought I'd find a tasting menu here and yet, Otis blew me away. The tasting menu changes weekly, and you get two options for each of the five courses. Each course was incredibly plated and beyond delicious! I tried things I wasn't sure I'd like, but ended up loving them. My favorites were the trout on pumpernickel and the sweet potato pasta. The steak was also incredible, cooked to perfection and oh so juicy. It was a blast sitting up at the bar, seeing things being prepared in front of you. The pacing of the courses was perfect, we had enough time to savor each one and chat between them for a nice long date night. I loved the entire experience, and the price was so worth it. I can't wait to come back to something totally new!

Everything was amazing. Food, service, drinks, all on point. Can't pick a favorite dish as they all stand out for different reasons.

I wanted a light beer, the recommendation was awesome!!

Pizza is good; meatballs are good but delivery is problematic. So either eat there or do pick up.

Sitting above sister restaurant Vino e Vivo, chefs Nick and Paul bring elevated small and large plates to this casual setting. Cocktails were great, as you might expect. Head bartender Chris has a creative list of cocktails and I'm sure could mix up anything else you might desire. We tried several small and large plates. Really hard to call out a favorite as they were all good. The Parsnip soup was creamy, rich and delicious with several touches such as crisped rice and basil oil on top that really made this a standout. Beet tartare was great as well with rich delicious beet flavor and texture reminiscent of beef tartare. Don't miss the cornbread with pork belly butter! Service is warm and friendly and chef Nick ran many of the dishes to the tables and bar personally. You could see (and taste) the passion he has for food. Located right above the beautiful Vino E Vivo restaurant (see prior review), it's the new HIT spot in Exeter. Only about 20 minutes or so from Portsmouth but a fun spot for cocktails, wine and dessert. Ambiance is chill with comfy bar seats, side tables and bartenders that can shake, sitr and whip up almost any cocktail to your liking. We did share their Amaro Flip which was fabulous. I know we will be back for sure since they offer small plates and decadent desserts too. Cheers~

I took a seat up at the bar and ordered an ice water and the Nachos ($8 plus tax) and Big Mozzarella Sticks ($8 plus tax). The place was moderately busy here on a Friday evening. The appetizers came out in 10 minutes. The Nachos were the right size for 1-2 people, warm crispy tortilla chips loaded with melted cheddar jack sauce, peppers, onions, jalapenos, & pico de gallo. The 4 homemade thick mozzarella logs were lightly breaded & crispy outside with melted mozzarella cheese inside with a sweet marinara sauce (cold) for dipping. I managed to finish both appetizers before I requested the check which was $17.36 with tax and before tip. Overall, Mia is a great place to stop and unwind for food and drinks. The staff at the bar was quite busy during my stop here and let me enjoy my food in peace while watching sports highlights on the TV.
