Wow wow WOW! What a great restaurant in the suburbs of Portsmouth. Definitely a must try place in Rye. So happy to have stopped here on my way up with my family & girlfriend. As we walked in, I noticed the restaurant was spotless and decorative, which contributed to a positive dining experience. There was a cool fish tank in the front with neon lighting, which was really cool. The service was really great as well. We ordered the egg white omelettes, salad with salmon, and burger and fries. Great food, everything was very fresh and tasty! My burger was great- cooked perfectly and the over easy egg on top was delightful. The egg white omelettes were unique and busting with flavor. Salmon is always a classic. Really fresh. I enjoyed the variety on the menu with brunch and seafood. There was something for everyone. We will be back! read more

This was my first time in NH and I had a lovely meal with my girlfriend and her family! We came in on a Sunday afternoon with a reservation and I really applaud the quick service. We ordered sandwiches, salads, and omelettes that were so tasty and flavorful! Great portions too, we left very satisfied. The omelettes, which were delicious, came with these delicious hash browns that are an absolute must, and the burger was super good and came with delicious fries. Everything was delicious! We were very impressed. It's a gorgeous restaurant too, with an aquarium lining the walls and a floral garden-like exterior. The menu was a Tad confusing I got the seafood pie what it was was a bowl of chowder with shrimp hanging off the side and some kind of burnt crustacean for a crust not very much of a seafood pie however the calamari we got was damn good and my girlfriend's fish was damn good but I definitely did not care for the supposed seafood pie at 50 bucks The whole menu is kind of contrived making it sound more fancy than it actually is read more

This is NOT fine dining if that's what you're looking for. It does, however, have the fine dining price! We went for our 24th anniversary dinner and typically go somewhere "fancy" that we would not normally go to. If you like rum runners this time of year like I do.....DON'T get the Pappy's Punch! Pappy has no idea what a rum punch with a "rum topper" is supposed to taste like. Didn't see or taste a dark rum floater. Tasted horrible. I had to send it back, I couldn't even drink it. I got the blood orange martini instead and that was really good. Our server was decent, again, not fine dining experience. I was starving and asked for bread. She brought us two Very small rolls. My husband had the seafood chowder to start, but had to wait for a spoon to eat it. He did say it was good. Had a lot of different seafood in it. I started with the caprese salad and the server advised they have a half order. I was VERY happy she told me that was an option. That was good sans one huge yellowish green tomato that was so hard I couldn't eat it. My husband got the fish and chips and he said it wasn't good at all. It was salty and he said it definitely tasted frozen. See picture. Not freshly breaded by any means. I got the pan seared halibut which was really good. I dont eat lobster and there was no other option for the risotto which I was bummed about. I love risotto. So I opted for the whipped potatoes. There was some type of marmalade on it. I couldn't place the taste, but it went very nicely with the fish. Then dessert. There was nothing on there my husband wanted so I suggested he get a bowl of ice cream with strawberries (since they do have strawberry shortcake). His bowl of ice cream was $9 and had like four little sliced strawberries on it. I had some espresso custard (I use that term loosely). There was hardly anything there. See the picture . Definitely skip the dessert.....not worth the price tag. The coffee was really good though. Also the food runner did not give us spoons AGAIN! Had to ask and he came over and literally plopped them in our dish. That did give us a good laugh. Total bill before tip....0ver $150. And my husband drank Diet Coke. I had that martini and one glass of wine. I would never go for a celebration again. But I would go there to sit at the bar and have a burger and a beer possibly. My friend and I lucked out and got a last minute Easter brunch reservation. We booked through OpenTable, which required a credit card to hold the reservation. However, the card was not charged, and we paid when we arrived. The buffet was listed as $75, but there was also tax and an automatic 20% gratuity that were added, so it ended up being ~$100/person. The buffet included bottomless mimosas, unlimited nonalcoholic drinks, and a smorgasbord of delicious food. There were shrimp, oysters, salmon, and other seafood. Last Friday my husband and I went to Atlantic Grill for dinner. We started with the Caesar salad which did not have a crisp piece of lettuce and was topped with large pieces of sun dried tomatoes. We then ordered our usual, husband had the filet and it was prepared as he likes it. My usual was the 1/2 chicken which was awful. The chicken was served cut up in pieces extremely dry and hard to cut through, my guess it was a leftover that was just reheated. I had a small piece and not wanting to cause a scene took dinner home. Luckily only had a small piece as I experienced an unpleasant reaction about an hour later. We ate with friends at AG last week. The service was great and the beer I had(same company that makes little sip but not that IPA) was really good. My wife and friends loved their food, blackened salmon, and grilled halibut. I ordered the fish and chips not paying attention to it being beer battered which I don't prefer. After a long hiatus from dining in in-person restaurants, my husband and I celebrated an important occasion by going to dinner at one of our favorite places--the Atlantic Grill. We dined outside on their beautiful deck, which had heaters above the tables, so even on a slightly chilly evening it was comfortable. We were there early on a Thursday night in April, so we had the outdoor space practically to ourselves. Our server Brittni (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was terrific--appropriately attentive, friendly and knew the menu well. We sipped on a perfectly prepared Cosmo and frosty glass of Guinness and enjoyed some warm, crusty rolls. I decided to have one of their Restaurant Week specials--a cup of their delicious seafood chowder (one of the very best in the region, chock full of fresh seafood without tons of potatoes), grilled salmon with a chili glaze sauce, crispy Brussel sprouts with balsamic glaze and delicious, carmelized sweet potatoes with smoked salt and for dessert, and a decadent chocolate cake that was made by the wonderful Popovers bakery. ($48 for the three courses). My husband ordered off the regular menu and got the tuna sashimi that was in a beautiful, creamy sauce that he said was the best sashimi he's ever had. He also ordered 6 oysters which were perfect, with a mignonette sauce served creatively with a tiny squeeze bottle for easy preparation of your jewel of the sea. He also ordered a fried haddock sandwich, which he said was crispy and excellent. He raved about the fries (he rarely eats them, but this was an exception). The fries were perfectly cooked, they almost seemed double fried--nicely browned and crispy on the outside but fluffy inside. Well worth the splurge. We would highly recommend the Atlantic Grill, which will give you a high quality and perfectly prepared meal every time. read more

I can't even begin to tell you how excited we were to stumble across this restaurant on our recent trip to New Castle, NH this past weekend for our Valentines Baby Moon get away. We were looking for seafood, and surprisingly/not surprisingly it was hard to find in the area - I believe due to the winter season. We were staying at Wentworth By The Sea so were thrilled to find this place only 5 minutes away without having to go into downtown Portsmouth on a chilly Saturday night. I was slightly disappointed we weren't able to get a seat inside - as my bump and I were a bit chilly, but overall we were thrilled we got a seat (not having made a reservation and knowing it was a busy weekend). The staff was extremely friendly and as busy as they were I felt they were following all the COVID protocols and I felt comfortable. The mocktails were on point, which always excites a pregnant women, and the bread/butter they served before our courses were served was super yummy!! My husband got the tuna tartar app which was great. We both got a cup of chowder which was just what I was looking for. For our main course I got Maine Lobster Scampi and he got the Salmon. Both dishes so yummy and pretty big, we ended up with to go containers for both... and finally, the cherry on top is they offered my most favorite dessert ever, Creme Brûlée. We will 100% be back next time we're in the area and hopefully better prepared with reservations next time. read more

Beautiful atmosphere and nice decor. I ordered fillet Mignon, medium rare. It was good. A little under seasoned but, it was cooked beautifully and the mashed potatoes with sautéed vegetables were great. Oysters were outstanding with the accompanying "condiments". Only other complaint would be the limited menu. Appetizers were just soups, lobster dip, and chicken fingers... and the entres were fairly limited, and pricey. We have been to the Atlantic Grill a couple of times after they first opened. We did not have a great experience. The food was OK, but the servers were inattentive and borderline rude. We recently decided to try again on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. The waitstaff, especially Stephanie, at the bar were friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and we will definitely come back. Great comeback. Special entry: due to the coronavirus, the restaurant was closed except for takeout until this past Memorial weekend. We were able to squeeze in a reservation on Sunday afternoon, the last one available. Our first sit down meal that we didn't have to cook and clean up in over two months! We arrived at the designated time, and were promptly seated after they sanitized our table. The tables were spaced apart on their outside patio and masks were required when not seated at the table. We ordered some wine and our favorite onion soup (our opinion is the best on the Seacoast). I then ordered the Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. We never felt rushed, even though there was limited seating. Isabel was our server and did a great job. We made a reservation for this Sunday. read more

Loved it!! Whatever drew some not great reviews a couple of months ago must have been resolved! We had our anniversary dinner there and got fabulous service, cocktails, and food!! The drinks were yummy and we thought the "build your own dinner" is brilliant! Hubs chose halibut, sauteed mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and brown butter sauce. Everything was scrumptious! I had a tofu dish and found it quite tasty. We were stuffed full so no dessert to comment on. The only somewhat negative is the noise-level. It wasn't the worst but definitely louder than what we like. It may have been due to a quite loud, obnoxious female at the bar who yelled constantly. There were a few hiccups but overall the food was tasty, however it was not cheap and the portions were on the smaller side, especially for the appetizer and dessert. We got the gluten-free calamari to start, and although it was yummy, there was not very much of it. We each had about half of a small plateful. The wine pours are small but they do have a decent wine list; for those who enjoy a good Sauvy B, the Kono was excellent. We each got the lobster roll for our entree, and I had a feeling I would need to doctor mine, which I did. It didn't have any salt, pepper or mayonnaise on it, and only one small leaf of lettuce. After adding some extra lettuce, mayo and seasoning, it was good. We split the gluten-free brownie sundae for dessert and it was tiny, that is definitely a one-person dessert and even then it would be considered small. But it was delicious. Service was decent, but we felt that our waitress just wanted us out of there so she could turn the table. As we were eating dessert she plopped the check down without asking if she could get us anything else, which to me is unprofessional especially after we just ordered three courses plus drinks. She also took a while to come and check on us after our entrees arrived. A giant wall-mounted air conditioner kept going off throughout the night which was really unpleasant, I asked if they could shut it off but then it kept coming back on. No idea why that is because it was less than 50 degrees outside and freezing in there. read more

What a bitter disappointment! We made a reservation for 5:15 since we were attending a show at the Hampton Beach Ballroom. To set the context, we're a couple in our sixties and we're dressed business casual. When we arrived the hostess sat us a table in the sun. When we asked to be moved to one of the dozen tables in the shade we were told those tables were reserved. I asked her if people could reserve certain tables and she said yes. I have never been on a reservation site where you could select a particular table. Strike one. I ordered the oyster. Tiniest oysters I have personally eaten. The server proceed to put bread and butter on the table next to us, but none on our table. Strike two. I ordered the little clams with linguine. The description said "little neck clams with crushed red pepper and a wine cream sauce". Well when the dish arrived the was no hint of cream sauce and the red pepper flakes completely dominated the dish. Now I'm sitting in the sun eating massive amounts of red chili flakes and I'm sweating. Final strike! The manager was nice and said the hostess should not have said you could reserve a particular table and apologized the the poor execution of my dish and comped my meal. We are eagerly looking for a decent upscale restaurant and this isn't the place. read more

Went here for my dad's birthday. The atmosphere was casual, and comfortable. It was very loud on a Friday night. If you're looking for something intimate where you'll be able to talk to someone across the table from you, I would not recommend this restaurant. The server was... rushed to say the least. She would say a few words quickly to our table before rushing off, often times before we could ask a question or answer her properly. There was a large party next to us, and this table seemed to be her focus. I understand large tables give a large tip, but we were a party of 5, so we would be tipping well too. Regardless, the size of the party should not affect our service. I wasn't thrilled with the server snapping at my father when he asked where the bread was (unprompted, she had told us it would be out in 2 minutes, and it was about 10 minutes after she said that). I could say more, but I'll save it. Just know, the service was sub par. The menu had so many good looking options on it. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer. The calamari was perfectly cooked! The cherry pepper dipping sauce was delicious as well. For the main course, I had the cioppino. My husband had the scampi. The scampi was delicious. My cioppino was disappointingly bland. I would not get it again. My step mother got the scallops and both her and my father raves about them. Would I eat here again? Eh, it wouldn't be my first choice at all. TO THE ATLANTIC GRILL RESTAURANT MANAGER AND BAR MANAGER: HORRIBLE! I'd give a negative rating if I could. That bad. I was at your establishment yesterday evening for dinner with my girlfriend. Bottom line, it was an astoundingly awful experience. Scary bad. Let me explain: When we arrived, we asked the hostess if we could sit outside in the patio area. At the time, there were quite a few tables available. She told us it would be a wait because they were understaffed outside. First Red Flag. Okay, 'lack of help'.. I get it, but seriously... Why stay open if things are this bad? Here are the core issues when we sat in your restaurant. I ordered a simple vodka and soda with a lime as a cocktail before dinner. The bar was far from busy. After an unacceptable amount of time waiting, our drinks arrived. We immediately ordered an appetizer. When the server left with our order, I took a sip of my drink. The soda water in it was completely flat. It was watered down vodka - literally. I told my date I'd return the drink and order another when the server "comes back with our appetizer". Another unacceptable wait... for a very sub-standard charcuterie board with one cheese, crackers and one type of meat. Just plain bad. I told the server about my drink. He apologized and said he'd come back with another. LONG WAIT AGAIN!!! And this time, the drink came back without a lime, and it was more watered down than the last! Unbelievable! And now the server was gone again! Didn't even stop to check on it! I couldn't drink it. Told my date I'd order something else - when he gets back. ANOTHER unacceptable wait. And again, the bar WAS NOT BUSY! When he returned, I told the server "No vodka soda, just a Coors Light"... He apologized, took my drink and left the table. LONG WAIT AGAIN!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! The wait was so absurd, that my girlfriend had to flag down the server. He came to the table and said.., "This is just not your night... We just ran out of Coors Light"..... OMG!!!! Could this experience at your restaurant be any worse??? Is this how your customers are treated? Your operation there is abysmal. I worked in the restaurant industry. I know! As for the dinner... we immediately paid our bill and left. To anyone thinking about going to the Atlantic Grill for dinner... I'd reconsider. Strongly reconsider. read more

Experienced poor service during an event in their event space. It began with the servers refusing to get additional silverware for the kid's table. After the third parent asked and much of the remaining silverware pilfered from the adult tables, one of the servers gave in and got a few more silverware sets. Our party's birthday member had food allergies that were diligently specified to the staff beforehand and somehow they disregarded all that information and served her items that would have made her sick! During dinner, the servers relentlessly asked if they could clear any plates away at a frequency so often it made table conversation awkward and impossible. It felt almost as though they were trying to hurry the event along even though we still had an hour remaining in the room. For dessert, they brought out individually portioned plates where about 10 were left untouched. When we asked for a take home box for the leftover desserts, we were informed that we could not take them as it was a health and safety concern. Since they wouldn't provide take-home boxes, we asked for the cake box back (we had brought our own cake in addition to the restaurant provided desserts). It took multiple people asking for the cake box for them to finally allow us to have it. We got it from someone who appeared to possibly be a manager. That manager then followed us back to the event space and stood in the corner monitoring us for about ten minutes. I'm not entirely sure what their plans were with the leftover desserts, I hope they weren't planning to reuse them for other patrons. Visited this area for the first time and our friends brought us here for an alfresco dinner last night. Simply amazing. Every single thing from the appetizers to the dessert was perfection. In the best we ever had category was the caprese salad, seared GIANT scallops, the seared tuna dish and the two desserts! We've had over sixty years worth of strawberry shortcakes and chocolate cakes...the four of us demolished them both. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Atlantic halibut which is hard to cook and keep moist. Well it's moist here....wrapped in prosciutto and topped with an herb butter. It'd also be in the best ever had category except we've never seen it offered in any other restaurant. Service was first rate and viognier wine was a bargain.
