Had a reservation for Friday night. They had a live band playing which was nice but hard to hear a conversation over so we ended up sitting in the bar area. I tried the prosciutto con melon cocktail which had an odd smell and taste. No one at the table enjoyed it. The server attempted to "fix" it by adding more melon purée but it wasn't palatable. I then ordered a whisky sour which tasted as if it had come from a dive bar-not what I expected from a 15$ cocktail. No one at my table enjoyed their cocktails so I would say the bar program needs significant work especially if they're charging cocktail prices. We had the caprese salad and garlic bread as appetizers. The garlic bread was amazing! We shared linguine with clams and the corn risotto. The corn risotto didn't taste fresh at all and had a fishy smell from the scallops. The corn tasted canned which is a shame given it's corn season/end of summer. The linguine tasted only of salt-a missed opportunity to showcase capers, garlic, something! The service was quite leisurely -we had to flag down the server several times for basic needs. At the end of the meal our bill was incorrect with items that needed to be removed and then as they tried to fix it I was mistakenly given another table's bill AND the items that I was told were going to be taken off were still there. Not a great experience for a first time at the restaurant and slightly stressful for a Friday night out with friends when we just wanted to relax and blow off some steam. Sigh. read more

**atmosphere, service, presentation is amazing! The atmosphere is so lovely, my friend and I sat outside and it was like we were in Europe! The servers are really kind--one noticed that my friend didn't like her drink and offered suggestions for a different one (which she ended up loving!). The colorful menus, decor, live music all add to the experience. Plating is gorgeous. We came for happy hour so we only had small bites. Unfortunately, I can't say that I loved my dish. I got the braised calamari and some calamari pieces were way too big and impossible to chew. I would've preferred smaller bites. My friend got the garlic bread and said it was ok, but nothing spectacular. I do want to return to try a main dish, though! Drinks are great: I got the spritz and it was so tasty. I've been hearing about this new Italian restaurant and because I love all things Italian, I had to go! For starters, it is super cute! The inside is adorable and filled with various eye catching decorations and features. The staff is very friendly; from greeting you at the door to welcoming you to your table, to a friendly wave goodbye when leaving. The menu does not offer a ton of options but it's just enough. What we ordered: Garlic bread appetizer 7/10 Meatballs appetizer 8.5/10 Chicken parmigiana 7.5/10 Spaghetti. 6.5/10 Cocktails 6.5/10 24 Layer Chocolate Cake 8/10 While everything was good, I must be honest...it wasn't enough to make me immediately want to come back. With so many amazing Italian restaurants right next door in little Italy, this one just doesn't stack up. However, the Vespa/Italian decor is adorable. If you're looking for a nice dinner and DuckDuckGoose has too long of a wait, I'd come over here next because they usually always have a table. My husband got the ravioli and I got the pesto pasta and neither of us were blown away. The espresso martini tasted like it was made with baileys and the aperol spritz tasted like soda water but at least they looked pretty! read more

**Date of Visit** 12/16/23 **Food** We ordered Garlic Bread and Arancini. The Garlic Bread was crispy and cheesy, definitely 10/10. For drinks, we got Speziato (loved this one), Dirty Caprese (a bit bitter for our taste) and If Fumatore which was delicious. The staff was welcoming, and our server checked on us frequently. When we raised the issue of Dirty Caprese being a bit bitter, she replaced the drink for us with a different one (we were not charged for this Dirty Caprese, and we really appreciate that.) For mains, we got Raviolis, Rigatoni, Fettucine and Spaghetti. All the pastas were pretty good and everyone enjoyed the food. For desserts, we got Pistachio Cheesecake and Tiramisu. There was a huge debate as to which one of these was the better. I am always on the Cheesecake side but I must say the Tiramisu here is something you should not miss ordering. My wife who hates Cheesecakes and likes Tiramisu, said she loved cheesecake today and liked it more than the Tiramisu **Ambiance and Cleanliness** The ambiance was amazing. We went with friends, but I will definitely return for a date night with my wife. The restaurant has two stories - one on the main level and one underneath the ground level. We went on a Saturday for dinner and were seated quickly. The restrooms and hand wash areas were extremely clean. **Improvements or not so great** My wife ordered the Rigatoni with spicy pomodoro and burrata. However, the pasta was topped with a small slice of the outside covering of burrata (which is essentially soft mozzarella cheese) and she would have liked it better if the pasta was topped with the creamy portion of burrata cheese. I was really looking forward to having another nice dining spot open in Fells Point but was fairly disappointed by my first visit. I was able to walk in and get a table for my group of three without a prior reservation which was very nice, and the hostess was kind and friendly. However the rest of the service was slow and the staff seemed a bit on the inexperienced side. Everyone was very nice but the delays in getting drinks and food were noticeable. The decor inside is very cute, although some areas of the restaurant are quite dark. The music selection is lovely and does feel quite romantic! Our food was ok. We sampled a few appetizers and had a few pastas. I chose the lamb ragu pappardelle which was on the salty side. The garlic bread appetizer though, was 10/10 excellent! I also had a cocktail and a glass of wine -- they do have a wide range of wines. A little underwhelmed but hopeful that service will improve because I did see a lot of potential! read more

This place was an interesting try. I hopped over from a nearby pub to get something more filling than pub fare. The food was tasty. I recommend the garlic bread and the strawberry crostata. From what I'm being told the lasagna is a miss, and the eggplant parmesan was a little slimy. They're ironing the details out, but it's coming along. The ambiance in and out of the restaurant is really cute. The service is a little frazzled, but it's clear folks are trying their best. I would stop in here for an intimate date night, but it must upgrade a few things to be 5 stars. read more

Osteria Pirata was a lovely dining experience. We went for bottomless brunch where you can try various dishes on the menu in one meal. The food is outstanding and fresh. I've had friends say this place wasn't great and really fell short of their expectations given how cool the vibes were here....after going I now completely agree. The food was really bad given the ambiance, and the friendly staff. Whoever is cooking the pastas in the kitchen should probably know that spicy rigatoni in a vodka sauce shouldn't taste like a jar of ragu on cold rigatoni with some cheese on top. I was expecting it to be in a creamy vodka spicy sauce and be absolutely simple but decadent. (Think Carbone!) My fiancé got the chicken piccata gnocchi and it was "average" as he described it. The meatball was dry for our appetizer and we also ordered the braised calamari and beet salad. The calamari was okay if you like it un-fried, but it wasn't exactly how we expected it, but would give than an ok review because of the couscous pearls. The beet salad I thought would be more of an arugula salad with beet, goat cheese, walnuts, but it was literally just beets cut up on a plate with goat cheese in the center. It was so weird. The apps were not worth the price for the quality of the food. I will say, it was a Thursday night too and NO ONE was in there. Only people aside from us were the staff and one small group of people. This place is huge too!! Makes you think that the food is just not good if it's not packed on a Thursday leading into the weekend. We said we would only come back for the drinks because they at least know how to get that right. It's time to maybe look into hiring a new chef and getting a good PR team to drum up some good buzz for Osteria Pirata because this place won't make it otherwise. read more

I would not set a tiny toe in this disgusting excuse for a restaurant. I'd been there once before and the food was fine. I returned this time with my trans daughter. She has schizoaffective disorder and therefore can dress a little oddly. The "security" man told us we couldn't come in - even though we had reservations - because my daughter was drunk. She doesn't drink anything alcoholic. Then the manager said we could come in only if we didn't drink anything alcoholic. Oh, wait. No. We couldn't even come in then. Suddenly, when I told them my daughter had a mental illness we were allowed in. The food was disgusting. Cold, coagulated, and not what we ordered. My sauce should have been white - not Ragu red. Shameful. I live right around the corner. This restaurant and every bigoted, thoughtless, deliberately hurtful person who manages and works there should go. Kick the chef out too. It's clear that no one is the least interested in cooking or serving fine food - unless you're straight, and look well-dressed. Shame on you! read more

I really want this place to get it together because it's a great location, but I've been there three times since they opened and it's still janky. The menu is really limited, which is fine if the dishes are fantastic...but everything I've had was only ok. The entrees are over $30/plate and don't include any sides. If you want to order sides, that's an additional $10 or so. There is no bread provided, not even available to order...in an Italian restaurant?! They have $14 garlic bread, but if you just want a little bread and olive oil, sorry you're out of luck. Again--if this were actually a fine dining restaurant, with really great food, they could pull it off. It's just not at that level, with the food or with the service. Servers were not knowledgeable about very basic things. The wine pricing was kind of weird...it appeared more economical to order by the glass than the bottle, like $11/glass, $50/bottle. Usually it's roughly 4 glasses to a bottle, but if they do tiny pours, then maybe the bottle makes more sense. We asked multiple people, including a manager, if it made more sense to order by the glass or get a bottle, and no one could answer that question for us. They were all extremely nice and they were trying their best to give good service (which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2), but there's clearly an internal disconnect somewhere in training/communication. In my most recent visit, we spent $120 before tip for two people, which did include drinks...but we left hungry. We ended up having to eat again at home. If we had spent that much at any number of other restaurants in Fells, we would have had a MORE than satisfying meal and experience and probably taken home leftovers. My suggestion is to skip this place and try Duck Duck Goose around the corner if you want a nice, delicious experience. read more

This place was top notch! The red wine pappardelle and the truffle fettuccine was decadent. Flavors were paired beautifully and the vibes and music were subtle and Italian inspired. Cam the bartender made the best expresso martinis on the east coast along with giving great wine recommendations. We were greeted kindly and served promptly. As a lover of Duck Duck Goose, I wanted to absolutely adore Osteria Pirata. Unfortunately, my two experiences there have not met my expectations. The first time I came, it was super packed. Despite having a reservation, multiple people were served before us (which included us being told we had a table and being led to the table, before being told someone else was actually going to sit at our table). We ended up in a corner near the kitchen where silverware was loudly clanking behind us and servers were having conversations. The food was fine and I am glad they had multiple veggie pasta options. The second time we came, the restaurant was mostly empty and it still took a while to have someone take our order. When we got our meal, the eggplant was still cold / lukewarm inside and the cacio e pepe felt very bland. The vibes are very fun, so could be worth a visit for a drink on a nice day. read more

We give this a 3.5 star rating. My girl friend and I had been waiting for this place to open given that Duck Duck Goose is one of our absolute favorites. The interior and exterior design is also cute and well thought out. We understand they just opened but the food was just "eh" for us especially compared to the Italian restaurants in Little Italy. We ordered the garlic bread which was nice and cheesy with a sweet marinara sauce. The chicken parm had a nice flavor but nothing mind blowing. Pretty disappointed in the pea agnolotti. It was bland and under seasoned. Overall we would've expected more flavor. They really need some help with acoustics in the tile floored dining room. There were only two other tables sat in there with us and it was extremely hard to hear anything. The noise travels off of the high ceilings and hard floors. The service was a little slow but we were expecting that given this was the first week they opened. I think once a few kinks are sorted out in the next few months we'd like to try this again. read more

I had a big graduation dinner here over the weekend. The management accommodated me through constant back and forth emails and were very patient. I was wondering how it would be as it's new and looks good but other reviews were so-so but it exceeded my expectations. We had a nice private space and the restaurant was pretty empty as it was a Sunday night. The space is so nice and well decorated in a fun, tasteful way. The drinks were so delicious (& strong), with a great wine selection. However, the food was incredible. The mozzarella in the Caprese salad was beyond fresh and the Caesar salad was so authentic. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the grilled calamari fregula was unique and delicious. The meatballs were such a hit with amazing ricotta and tomato sauce. The trout was perfect with a nice crispy skin and the steak and mushrooms were perfectly seared. Also, everyone loved the lamb pappardelle. Amazing roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe. Truly no complaints with any dish. The desserts were amazing because they weren't overly sweet. We had the tiramisu, 24 layer chocolate cake and the crowd favorite, pistachio cheesecake. Dante, our waiter, worked so hard and was incredible. He took care of all of us in a timely manner and with grace. We adored him! We're a loud bunch! I REALLY wanted to like this place and was looking forward to trying it, but after our experience I would not go back nor recommend it. First, I'd like to note that the service and staff were perfectly friendly and made us feel welcome (they are why this review is not one star). The main problems were our food and drinks. My group ordered espresso martinis and a sangria. None of them were good and we could not finish them as the sangria tasted like cough syrup and the espresso martini was just...not good. Too much vodka, coffee didn't taste good etc. For food, we ordered the arancini to start. I've never had a risotto ball with such a hardened outer shell that it was tough to chew. The inside was fine, I just couldn't understand why the outer shell was so stale. For our mains, my friend and I had the chicken parm and our other friend got the mushroom risotto. I thought the chicken was fine- nothing special, but my friend thought the chicken had a weird texture. My accompanying pasta was VERY cold. The worst, though, was the mushroom risotto. My friend, who is not a fussy eater at all, had us all try it because she thought she was crazy, but she was not. The risotto tasted like the chef had literally poured an entire can of Morton salt into the dish. It was a step away from just eating salt from a spoon. We decided not to raise this with the staff because at the time it was very late and we just wanted to finish up and go home. I hesitated even writing this review because the staff was so kind, but this food was truly bad overall. read more

My partner and I visited on a Tuesday night. There were two large parties but otherwise not terribly busy. Ambiance was fine, but where were sat was pretty dark. There were other areas of the restaurant that were brighter. Service was mediocre, it felt like it took a long time for how slow the restaurant seemed. It was about a two hour dinner. For appetizer we had the arancini. The outside was crisp but the inside was really cold, so that put me off from the dish. I ordered the 40 layer lasagna. Temperature was also warm, not hot like I was expecting for a lasagna. It was good, but I think I was expecting more - not a traditionally cheesy lasagna. My partner ordered the cacio e peppe and added a chicken cutlet. Honestly if she did not add the chicken, the meal would have been so much more underwhelming. Lacked a lot of flavor. We will probably stick to Duck Duck Goose, it's one of our favorites in the area. read more

For the price, I would've thought they blackened it or pan seared it but it was just boiled and placed on the salad. The pasta with the sausage and broccolini was VERY salty, but i added some parm to try to help with it but it didn't do much. The washing down after every bite was what helped. The menu descriptions were very vague and not descriptive at all on what you could expect with each item. We've had great experiences at Ashish Alfred's other spots, so we were really excited to try this one! We've been twice now and both times have been excellent. The lasagna and chicken parm were great, and gave exactly the nostalgic Italian-American vibe they're going for. The cacio e pepe was perfectly sauced and reallllly amazing. The real star of the show, though, was the dessert: don't leave without the chocolate cake. I have to give a special shout out to the bartenders who made us feel like fast friends. So I have been looking forward to coming here since I saw their first video on Instagram. I finally made it out with a group of 4 and we were able to walk right in and be seated and the staff was very friendly. We decided to try a bunch of appetizers and split them amongst the table. The garlic bread, prosciutto and melon, peperonata, and arancini were all great choices. I personally enjoyed the arancini most of all, it had a great flavor. The drinks were also very good, I had a seasonal mango sangria that was exceptional. For my main course I had the chicken parmigiana which had good flavor and the sauce was delicious, would have liked a little more spaghetti with it but that's because it was so good! Also making appearances were the red wine pappardelle and eggplant parmigiana I'm told we're excellent. Plates were cleaned all around. The one detractor for the night was when we asked about the dessert menu as we were all excited to try the tiramisu and 24 layer chocolate cake we were told that "the kitchen is closing in 20 minutes, can I bring you the check instead?" Which took me aback because service had been extremely good all night. I mean it takes a minute to slice some cake, it's not like we were trying to put in more appetizers or entrees. That was the only thing that held this back from 5 stars. My husband and I brought my parents to celebrate their wedding anniversary, and our service could not have been better--from the sweet host greeted us, to Dante, our server, who was kind and attentive, and gave us great recommendations on the menu, and the manager who came by to wish them a happy anniversary and check in on our meal. We split the garlic bread, arancini, and Caesar salad amongst four of us for appetizers, all of which was delicious. I would definitely come back and order them again. For entrees, we split the chicken parm, lasagna, and scallop risotto. What really made the experience was the generosity--knowing it was my parents' anniversary, they treated us to a round of Prosecco and a slice of delectable (and giant) Smith Island chocolate cake. We have been huge fans of Duck Duck Goose, and we were thrilled to enjoy another great meal at Ashish Alfred's second spot in Fells. Try it out! read more

Sadly disappointed in Osteria Pirata. We assumed since it's the sister restaurant of Duck Duck Goose, it'd be great. The pictures of the food on instagram looked incredible and the marketing of the place is well done. We visited around 6:30pm on a Sunday and my partner and I noticed immediately we were the only people there besides two at the bar. This threw the vibe off a bit but we just figured maybe we were a bit early for dinner? Our server was kind and attentive which I appreciated, but despite being the ~only party there~, we still waited around 25 minutes for our entrees. We ordered the caesar (which did come relatively quickly, unlike the others), the roasted chicken and the cacio e pepe. The caesar was $15 and was okay but underwhelming. I feel like if you're going to pay $15 for a bowl of romaine lettuce the dressing should be good, but it was disappointing, like something I could buy pre-made at the grocery store. The cacio e pepe was...bad. It was like eating butter noodles with some cracked pepper. It also got cold immediately because the plate hadn't been warmed. I feel badly to report this because I know the restaurant is fairly new. But looking back at photos others have posted, it seems like the service of this dish is inconsistent, some folks had plates with lots of sauce or herbs on top, and others (like mine) had none. Super super disappointing for $20. My partner had the roasted chicken which was a bit of a saving grace, it was really tasty and I ended up eating most of it since my cacio e pepe was so cold.
