First of all, I'm partially biased to this place. On that note, Irecently visited for the first time and I had a great meal and experience. The food was visually pleasing and tasty. Ambiance is casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The chef is awesome. Overall, a wonderful place for wonderful food.

"I'm not force-feeding myself a steak at four-thirty to save a coupla bucks, I'll tell you that!" - Jerry Seinfeld Andiamo! Do yourself a favor this spring & get over to this spot and grab an outdoor table as Italians would do. Do the whole thing starting about 6:30pm, linger with an aperitif and small plate, aiming for dinner to start after 7pm. As the days heat falls away, and the sky's faint stars appear during dinner and dolci, you are taken back to that Osteria you stumbled on just outside of Florence. Forgive my long winded review... da Scene: I had mentioned to chef friend of mine I was on a mission to find Bistecca alla fiorentina as we're going back to Florence later this year, I wanted a comparison point. A "true one" he said is impossible as Chianina cattle are uniquely from the Tuscany region, it could be a kilo of quality Porterhouse, but not the real thing. Weeks later he told me a of a ranch up north (Fassona Beef) that raises Piedmontese cattle and sells it across the US. While different from the Tuscan cattle, would be a truer Italian steak. Enter Fasulo Osteria... apparently they obtain this special beef and occasionally create daily specials, depending on the cuts they obtained. My take of this meat is it really does affect the preparation it's used in. The US has been guided to understand that "fat equals flavor/quality", this beef runs in the face of that and does so exquisitely. Somehow lean and tender at the same time in steak form; in a robust ragu pappardelle it is outstanding. da Grub: The four of us have dined together many times, so we order w/ abandon. Bottle of Vermentino (excellent choice by our waiter), antipastino plate, burrata/tomato salad, and 2 orders of the decadent Parmesan Soufflé (not to be missed!). start things off. We select 4 different primi and of course sample each others: My Lamb Ragu was quite good, slow braised lamb chunks in a reduced rustic sauce; but the other 3 bites I sampled had me in plate envy... a Tagliatelle w/ mushroom & burrata so rich I did not miss a protein, Spaghetti in squid ink w/ lobster - well nothing subtle here savory sauce and perfectly poached lobster... but lastly the Taleggio Ravioli in Pomegranate sauce was the stunner; the texture of the ravioli against the creamy cheese filling contrasted by the complex Pomegranate sauce and some crunchy sprinkling was a unique pasta preparation I hope to taste again before the menu changes. We add one main to share: a roasted Veal Chop was perfect with about 3 bites per person, finishing with the Nona Cake, espresso and limoncello. It was as indulgent as it sounds, I say unapologetically! da Service: A young lady greeted as we wandered in ahead of our dining partners and seated us with both still & sparkling water as requested. Massimo (one of 3 brothers running the joint) came to greet us as if old friends; I had only been once before on a boys night to scope the place out before bringing the girls. We had met the chef ('Cello) on the last visit; perhaps we'll meet the 3rd brother on our 3rd stop?! Like in Italy, I felt like we had the table for the evening... there was no rush, everything was paced and expedited perfectly. Wine and water were topped off as needed and plenty of time to enjoy the food, friends, and surroundings was given. There is an inside dining room for those who prefer, but I've not been inside... the outdoor courtyard is laid out with enough space between tables that conversations are not stepped on. A sandy gravel floor (add a bocci ball court!) is surrounded by fruiting kumquat trees and the faint scent of citrus wafted occasionally when the slight spring breeze blew by. It was one of those nights. I remember thinking (better be good!) when the referral came to me... it's in Davis?! That's a bit of a trek for us, but that outdoor area is a standout when paired with the fine grub. Yeah, I can find fine italian in the East bay and the City, but the ambience at Fasulo is unique; take the drive, you won't regret it. Pro tip: if you are seeking the Piedmontese beef, call ahead to check on specials, they do run out between orders, ciao!

They have limited hours and no reservations online, so we just showed up Saturday afternoon. Plenty of tables. No reservations needed. We sat outside in the courtyard and it felt like we were on the vineyards somewhere. It was peaceful and the water fountain in the middle was very soothing. The pastas were delicious. I definitely recommend the tagliatelle. I could eat that everyday. 10/10 recommend.

Phenomenal dining experience! The outdoor dining area was amazing, loved eating under the moon and stars. They have heaters around so it warms you up. Service was excellent. We started with wine and beer and a complimentary snack. The food was incredible. The salad was refreshing. The crab pasta was delicious. The mussels and clams were wonderful, the sauce was just perfection and better paired with the bread. We got a complimentary dessert and wine dessert which ended our evening perfectly. I highly recommend and would come back.

The food and service were outstanding. We had a lovely time! However, I was a bit disappointed with how the payment was handled. I had requested in advance (and confirmed again on the day) that desserts and after-dinner drinks be charged to me, as a surprise for my dear ballet teacher's birthday. Unfortunately, the bill was split evenly, and she ended up paying the most despite ordering modestly and skipping drinks. I offered to redo the slip, but she kindly declined. Still, I left with regret, as it wasn't the celebration I had requested in advance with the restaurant, nor the one I had truly hoped to treat her to. We also appreciated the complimentary dessert, but I had requested a birthday message on the plate was missed. Just sharing this as feedback for next time, because I really do love this place and value the care they usually show.

Upscale modern Italian-inspired and hiding in plain sight: Osteria Fasulo will not disappoint. We went on a Saturday to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays and our waitress (Patricia: make sure you ask for her she's the best) informed us there would be small dessert for us to celebrate The restaurant breathes serenity and style and the menu is list like that. We opted for a bottle of Prosecco and San Pellegrino water to go along our meal. The journey stated with a little crostini with horseradish cream, delicious! Parmigiano soufflé and Potato soup (it was silky smooth) were excellent! Main: squid ink pasta with lobster and gnocchi al ragú: again all top notch! We ended our meal with coffee and desserts: the crème brûlée and espresso pana cotta, with the little crepe as present . You can't put a price on an outstanding meal and service - this place is wonderful ! If you want to go during weekends: please make sure to get a reservation

Charming date night spot where you can splurge on an amazing meal! We made a dinner reservation for 2 on a weekday. Parking was easy to find. We were greeted as we walked in and were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We opted for inside. We chose a cozy corner table with more dim lighting. Our server was named Patricia and she was the most friendly, sweet, and funny lady that I've had as a server in a restaurant. I loved her energy and all her menu recommendations. She also told us that the restaurant would be closing soon for about a month for vacation, but they plan to reopen on 09/20. Below is everything we had for dinner. * Crostini with olive and capers (free) - 2 pieces of crusty but soft bread with a savory olive and capers spread. Although I'm not the biggest fan of capers, I thought this was pretty good. * Bread basket (free) - 6 pieces of soft, warm, baguette slices that came with what our server described as an olive oil salsa verde. Both the bread and the dip were delicious. * Parmigiano and peach souffle ($21) - cheesy and soft souffle that paired well with the peaches, prosciutto, mascarpone, and balsamic glaze. Very tasty combination. * Crab and romaine salad ($23) - great amount of crab on top of crispy romaine all topped with sliced hard boiled eggs. Delicious when mixed all together with the sauces on the plate. * Soup of the day ($13) - it was a chilled melon soup with bacon. It was refreshing and savory at the same time. Really enjoyed it. * Fish of the day ($42) - it was wild Alaskan halibut with green beans and a tasty butter sauce. I didn't get to try it, but my fiance said it was very good. * Iberico porkchop ($56) - our server wasn't kidding when she called it "the best porkchop of your life" and served it by saying "welcome to heaven." This was really the best porkchop I've had! The bone was already separated from the meat and the meat was already sliced for you. The meat was so tender and seasoned perfectly. I also enjoyed eating the crispy meat off the bone. The butter sauce was delicious too and it paired well with the crispy potato wedges and the tomatoes. The tomatoes were sweet and soft. I liked the spinach and corn with it too. * Dessert of the day ($13) - it was like a round cheesecake ice cream with berries in the center and a coating of cookie crumbs on the outside. Had a circle of berries around it. So good! * Annviersary dessert (free) - 1 delicate crepe with a delicate lemon cream filling. Loved how it wasn't overly sweet. Also served as people's birthday dessert from what I observed. * Goodnight kiss (free) - 2 small meringue cookies with a dollop of berry sauce on top. A cute, airy treat. * White wine ($15/glass) - when I asked our server Patricia for a white wine she recommends that's fruity and light, she brought me the perfect glass. I don't quite remember the name, but I just wanted to highlight how I enjoyed the wine she chose for me! Also the bathrooms were clean. Yes the whole meal was pricey, but I would come back again to try more of their offerings! I'm curious what they offer next season. Everything was delicious, the service we received was excellent and friendly, and it was a cute and intimate fancy date night spot.

We came here for a company holiday dinner. Even though this is a quaint restaurant with under twenty tables, they were able to seat all 15 of us. Service was impeccable. The food was absolutely delicious and creative. We're a friendly group, so we shared almost everything! For my appetizer I had the scallops. Our table also ordered muscles to share. My main entree was the veal. Dessert was the Amaretto Crepe. Everything was perfectly prepared. The flavors were on point. I highly recommend dining here, whether you're a party of two or fifteen!

Food definitely not worth the price. Why is a piece of salmon fish that size cost $40? Appetizers were actually good. Parmigian souffle with peaches was sweet, but worked surprisingly well together and as a savory dish. Clams and mussels were also very good, enough garlic and very balanced wine flavor. Free bread was ehh. Eggplant fusilli had the pasta cooked to the perfect bite, but really wasn't all that, for $30 is crazy. The pastas did give a lot quantity wise, but the secondi not so much. Dessert was alright. This ís very much a place older Americans come to sit for 2 hours, drink wine, and feel fancy. Food takes a long long time to come.

Osteria fusoli It's been over 10 years since I first visited and always longed to return, hoping it would stay true to its roots. Happy to report all is as I remembered it to be as they celebrate 20 years in business. A true trattoria experience with an elegant atmosphere at a reasonable price. It's the only Italian restaurant I'd recommend in the entire Yolo county. My appetizer polenta con piselli was excellent. Grilled polenta cakes topped with melted buffalo mozzarella, peas, and pickled lemon. They offer an incredible selection of other appetizers plus fresh soups and salads. This evening's entree was il pesce del giorno. A pan seared sea bass with roasted fennel, fresh herbs, beurre blanc and tomato. Outstanding and delicate. The dessert menu didn't really wow me, so I asked them to make an affogato which is always a pleasure. Beer and wine only, no liquor so no aperitif or digestif here. This is my only gripe. Elegant atmosphere without being too stuffy. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Service was excellent and professional. Thanks Mateo.

Ask the Community - Osteria Fasulo

    Can I bring my dog?

Yes, you can bring your dog and dine on the outdoors patio! I would recommend telling this when placing your reservation!

Would we feel out of place if we wore casual clothes (shorts and polo shirt for him) for dinner here?

Yes. This is a pretty formal place. People were very dressed up. Some of the people there were wearing dresses and coat with tie. Not very comfortable.

Are there walk-ins available if your reservations are fully booked out for Friday and Saturday?

Have they reopened for indoor dining at this time?

I imagine this place is a more rounded and enjoyable summer hotspot without campus ruckus.
