My car broke down and I had it towed to this shop. It was a Friday night and they were able to fix it by 1:30 PM the next day. I was on vacation driving to California. Very nice people and helped me get a ride to and from my hotel. read more

Honest, Trustworthy, Dependable, Excellent Work, Do what they say, Say what they do. They stand by what they do. It may not be the shiniest, and the location isn't the most desireable, but you'll be happy and satisfied you went there. read more

Went to Oscar's auto repair to get an estimate regarding the replacement of a brake light switch for my 1995 Chevy Silverado truck. After examining my vehicle, I was told that in order to have that switch replaced, it would be necessary to have the steering column removed so they could access this switch and it would cost approximately $700.00. I took my vehicle to another shop where they replaced my switch without removing the steering column and was charged only $185.00. BEWARE! read more

We were on vacation and had a serious issue w our water pump. Dealerships could not help us due to no slots, but oscar's was willing to squeeze us in and did a solid repair job (took the whole day on Saturday). We were so greatful to be able to have our car repaired before leaving to go back home. We felt the price charged was a fair price given what they would have charged at the dealership! Muchas gracias to Oscar and his team! We need more honest small repair shops like yours! read more

I will repeat what others have said honest and reliable! Reasonably priced for today's overinflated costs. They have done a solid job on an old vehicle that had numerous issues. They respond quickly with texts and calls with informed responses. Good mechanics are hard to find and we're grateful for this shop. read more

He responded quickly to my request with a reasonable quote. Turns out I didn't need the work as a friend helped me resolve the issue. I would recommend Oscar's based on response and value. read more

Shop responded to the project request promptly and was accommodating with scheduling a pre-purchase inspection of a vehicle. Unfortunately seller advised their shop was too far from their location. Nonetheless I would patronize this shop for their prompt attention to business and reasonable service pricing. read more

Best shop in Oregon no questions they are quick and professional and most importantly incredibly honest! They don't mind letting you know if its a repair you need immediately or if you can wait for a while, they have saved by parents and siblings butts a couple of times when we needed help or advice on mechanical issues! read more

Great job!!! I was in a bad situation and Oscar's replaced my alternator on a moments notice and gave me the ability to get back on the road and not risk driving over the pass in the winter with snow falling and risk getting stuck up there. At 2pm, I realized I had an alternator issue. By 4pm, I contacted Oscar's and they said they could do it (after trying 3-4 other places in Redmond that couldn't). By 7pm it was repaired and I was happy. Thank you Oscar's!!! read more

I reached out to Oscar's auto repair for a pre-purchase inspection for a truck at a dealership coming from Madras while I am located in the Portland area. I worked with Byron who was more than helpful through the whole process. They had plenty of room to work my needs into their schedule and get the truck in in a way that worked with the dealership. They did a great, thorough job looking over the truck and providing the necessary results to me while ensuring they didn't disclose anything to the dealership. Byron was very helpful and even took my call when he himself was out of town coordinating work. I would absolutely recommend this shop for work and customer service. read more

I am from SC passing through with a 32 ft travel trailer and thought I had a fuel filter leak on my 02 7.3 Diesel. Turns out it was bad valve seals in front of filter. Oscar tried to just get the valves from Ford but Ford didn't cooperate. Fantastic people, finds root cause of issues and even offered me loaner car to rejoin family at campground while we waited. Highly recommend this repair shop read more

Excellent services! The family conversion van needed an oil change and Oscar was able to get me quickly. They were prompt and efficient. I will be taking all my vehicles to Oscar's Auto Repair in the future! read more

Would give a 0 if I could. They gave me an ETA for a tow: 30min Waited 2hrs. Called them up. And wouldn't ya know it? They "forgot" about me and took a job in Portland. Makes way more money, so I guess I don't blame them. A call would have been nice. At least be honest. Not wasting half a day would have been paramount to the stress and irritation they caused. Never again. If this is how they conduct business, just stay in Portland. Don't worry about coming back to Redmond. We don't need that type of dishonesty here. Called another tow company. They had me done in 45min. **the following day, Byron called me a half a dozen times to berate my insurance and tried to blame them for his lack of ability to read emails. When he realized I wouldn't answer, he resorted to nasty text messages. I finally blocked Byron and sent the messages to the police. read more

Oscar and Byron are doing an outstanding job. We have had them do several jobs on our car in the past 2 years. Couldn't be happier. First and foremost, they are honest with you. No upselling parts or repairs you don't need. Quotes are accurate and pricing is fair. Always friendly and more than happy to go above and beyond. If you're looking for a good shop with honest and skilled mechanics, THIS is the place to go. Thank you so much for your continued high level of customer service! read more

Excellent service! Got my Jeep fixed up fast!!! They offered to have a look no charge. I thought it needed a new thermostat but they figured out it was my water pump. They had it done in a day! I'll definitely be going back!! read more

Byron is the kind of honest and caring person you always hope to meet. I was driving through Redmond, OR. The "check engine" had come on about 15 minutes earlier and then my car starting stalling and cut out. I got towed to Oscar's and met Byron. Byron started right away with the diagnostic tool to check my "check-engine" light. The resulting code was pretty vague and Byron kept looking and then we took the car out for a test drive as it would now turn on. After an hour of checking things out, he thought he should check the throttle body and found a piece of nitrile glove in there. He cleaned up the throttle, the check engine light was now out and all was good. After an hour of work, he didn't ask for a penny and just asked me to check in the next day to be sure all was fine. In fact, he had to call me the next day, because I was still driving. I can't say enough about how much I appreciated his care for my car when I was trying to get somewhere and how he wouldn't take any money for looking over my car. An honest guy who really cares! read more

I am on an RV trip and over 1000 miles away from home. I had several warning lights came on my dashboard and didn't know what to do to rectify it. I tried a few simple things with parts from O'Reilly's myself. But when it comes to auto electric I am not qualified! Because of Covid, there is a severe labor shortage in Central Oregon as well as many other parts of the United States. I contacted three GMC dealers within 100 miles north, south, and east of Redmond. None of them could even look at my vehicle for over a week! To be fair, the independent shops were booked up that far as well. Oscars was willing to slip me in after a couple of days wait to diagnose my problem. Then one of their tech specialists fixed my issue and got us back on the road again. This is the kind of family run business that actually cares for their customers! read more

The clutch went out on my 4Runner while we were visiting Redmond from out of town. A friend suggested Oscar's and they were able to look at it the next day. Great service from Byron and Oscar, and a very reasonable price for the repair and a quick turn-around. When do you ever see a mechanic with a 5 star review?! I found it hard to believe, but Oscar's deserves it. If we ever have issues again with a car in Redmond, we know who to call. Thanks so much for taking such good care of my car. It runs like a dream :) read more

I needed a 60,000 miles service on my Subaru Impreza, I called them last week and he got me in the following week. He was very kind and courteous. He finished my car in a timely manner and the best thing was he didn't charge me an arm and a leg. I know who my future mechanic and service team will be. Thanks guys for the incredible and timely service on my car. read more

Car started acting weird after a day went by , then today it broke down after I got gas in it. I pulled it to the side of the road, waited and called Farmers Insurance roadside assistance. After an hour waiting Oscar's Auto Repair Showed up and saved the day. Oscar's owner was very nice and had the car towed back to Bend Oregon to the Honda dealership. I would recommend Oscar's Auto repair to anyone living in the Redmond Area. Great service, nice people, and very helpful. read more

As luck would have it, broke down alongside the road and out of town, and out of options, almost an hour away from Oscars. Not only did they tow my truck to the shop they gave me a ride to the rental car facility, put my vehicle into their tight schedule and got me going the next day, they went way above my expectations with quality parts, warranty on service, and a guarantee to be there if I ever needed them again. Please, don't hesitate to call Byron at Oscar's auto repair. Really appreciate the solid work, fair price, and friendly staff. Thank you! read more

Oscar and Byron seem knowledgeable and personable. Byron quickly scheduled me for a pre-purchase inspection of a used car and I felt the price was reasonable and he gave a helpful summary of necessary repairs. He took time to discuss the asking price on the vehicle and whether it seemed reasonable. Additionally, each time I've brought a car in for work, I ended up with a bill smaller than I was quoted prior to the repair. I'll be back! read more

I brought my vehicle in for a transmission service. Byron helped me with both the morning check in and getting the vehicle back in the afternoon. I'm very impressed with the respect and friendly attitude he showed me, and taking the time to show me what my filter looked like and explain it when I said I didn't have an idea what it should have looked like. This is one of the few auto shops that has treated me as a woman with the same level of service and regard that I always see my husband given. They have definitely gained a customer for future work. read more

I woke up one morning and our car wouldn't start, and my wife was out of town with our second car so I was stranded. Oscar's tow truck came and towed our car and got it all fixed before I had to fly out for the holidays. I was scared of the bill especially with having to have our car towed but the prices were very reasonable and our car is running great. If we have any future issues with our cars I will be taking it to Oscar's. read more

I called up after my car was completely dead and had already tried to be jumped. Oscar recommended contacting my insurance first before having them tow it just in case it would be covered. First green flag! Wasn't covered so he had it picked up on the same day. They figured out what was wrong and had it fixed in two days. Thank you so so much for getting us back up and running! read more

Amazing service!!!!! The young man that took my info and returned my call same day was so polite. They took my car in for brakes at 9:30 and I was done by 12. It was $325 for front breaks on highlander. I will definitely be returning!!!!! read more

Morning, just passing through, fill up the tank, engine turns over, won't run. Start calling, two weeks, three weeks, no mechanics. Call Oscar's, " Maybe can take a look around five-thirty". They've got a wrecker but I had triple A drop me off. Hung around all day watching the hustle/bustle, entertaining, busy. Quitting time, I'm getting antsy, Oscar jumps into the wrecker loads me up and into the shop. Does a few checks, fuel pump's shot. Calls around, finds an OEM. And then; He's got a night shift! Oscar points down the street at a motel, says "come back 10am". I do, car's ready to go, I pay a reasonable price and try to tip, won't take it, heads off to look at a van. It's a real delight to see this work ethic, I've enjoyed the experience. Oscar's will make it work for you. read more

EDIT: Original review = 3 Stars (OK) with the below description. I received a message from the shop reaching out a few hours after the review was posted. Oscar & Byron wanted to make sure that a) I was happy overall with the work, and b) wanted to offer some money back since an estimate wasn't given. I was very happy with the refund and felt it was a fair offer. I was happy to re-iterate that I thought the overall service was great, and that I should be more responsible about getting an estimate. With this level of dedication to customer satisfaction I will definitely be returning for future work. Original Review: I will preface this by saying that not only have I heard great reviews, when I was picked up at Oscar's after dropping my car off, my Lyft driver had nothing but good things to say. AND I would add that they were able to see me on short notice and in general were very accommodating and nice. My ONE gripe is the bill I received for the services. The break caliper on my front left tire had come loose due to two bolts coming out from when I had replaced my own wheel bearing hub. When I dropped it off in the afternoon they looked at it and said it shouldn't take more than an hour to fix the caliper. Unfortunately I couldn't stick around and would get it early the next morning. Called to check in the next morning just to make sure it was ready, and was told that the break pads for that wheel really should be replaced to. I said fine. Fast forward to later that second day when I go and pick it up. I was expecting a bill for a few hundred dollars (inflation/labor), maybe around $300. The work involved 1 wheel. The caliper fix (adding two bolts) shouldn't take more than 20 minutes, and the break pads (they would have had to remove the wheel and take apart the caliper they just fixed) shouldn't take more than 30. I would add that they did take some time to look at the wheel bearing hub that I had replaced, as it seemed to be loose. The bill - $415 Parts billed for - FL side caliper hardware - 52.99 (2 bolts?! The original caliper is still there) - No mention of break pads, but a 4pad set runs around 40, they would have used 2. No mention of any other costs, including labor. I will summarize with this. This is another expensive lesson. ALWAYS request a written estimate and understand if you're being billed a flat rate or an hourly labor rate, including a completion date before work is started. Once I have some free time I will take the wheel off and check out if new break pads were actually put in, and see if the "FL side caliper hardware" was anything more than 2 new bolts. I'll follow up when I do. It's always hard to find a good mechanic and I was excited to use Oscar's after reading reviews, hearing from my Lyft driver, and interacting with them prior to the work. They did the job I was looking for, and were able to do it on short notice, ALL GREAT THINGS. However, call me naive, but I feel I got ripped off on the bill. read more

It was my responsibility to indicate special parking requirements for the car being towed, but unfortunately, I did not. Which meant, Oscar had to off load the vehicle and reload it again. I was visiting Central Oregon with a friend when a chronic issue I'd been tolerating with my vehicle became a major problem. I messaged Oscars on a Sunday via Yelp & they got back to me early Monday morning & took my car in right away. After running diagnostics & driving my car (it acted up when the mechanic drove it! That never happens!) they determined what needed to be fixed & took care of it. I couldn't believe I was able to get my car back so quickly! I drove my vehicle from Redmond to Portland yesterday with no trace of the former problem! Very pleased to have found an competent mechanic away from home. Nice guys too & didn't feel like I was overcharged at all. read more
