Poor communication, unreliable system. They seem to have a major issue with scheduling and keeping up with scheduled appointments. The worst part is that their own customer service claim they don't know what you are talking about. To the point I am reading her the message with the confirmation with time and date and she insists the appointment is at another time and date. Horrible customer service! I called in early August for a pest issue and scheduled service for August 11. My husband took the day off to meet with the rep. At the time, we were told the cost was $269 initial consultation and $108 monthly IF follow-up service was required. I received both an email and text confirmation for the 8/11 visit with a two-hour window. When no one showed after the two-hour window on 8/11, I called and was told that they have us scheduled for a 8/18 visit. I told them that we selected 8/11 AND received confirmation and reminders from Orkin for that date. The rep, her name is Sherry, was initially apologetic then became annoyed. I asked to speak with a manager because I wanted to get assurances that this wouldn't happen again if we required follow up service. The rep said the manager was in a meeting at first, kept putting me on hold then said he'd call back later. She rescheduled the visit for the next day. I told her to be sure to tell him to give me a call - he didn't that day or the next day when I followed up again. The pest control expert came the next day - 8/12. He was informative and professional. He diagnosed the issue as minor. He addressed the problem then told us to call IF there was a reoccurrence. Sunday, 9/13 I get a call from an Orkin pest control rep at 8:00 am to say he would be at my home in five minutes. I told him 1- I was not in need of this service and didn't sign up for service beyond the initial visit. 2- the manager NEVER called me back to explain how they messed up the dates for the initial visit. When I checked my credit card statement, Orkin went ahead and charged me $108! I called customer service right away and spoke with Cora who just apologized but said she couldn't help me. I told her to have the manager call me back asap. HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I called corporate 9/15 and asked to speak with a manager but received the same run around! NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. I reached out to my credit card customer service to dispute the charge. They asked if I tried to resolve the issues with the merchant and I told them NO ONE RESPONDS!! This isn't supposed to happen with a national company. I plan to contact the BBB to report them and will pursue until I receive my refund. To make matters worse, I received a survey from them after the initial consultation where I listed my complaint about the scheduling mixup and the manager's refusal to call me back. Can I give zero stars? I made an appointment for today, Monday 8/18 - over the weekend. Coincidentally my neighbor was having a bee problem on the day I made the appt. Since the guy was coming to check out their issues he took a look at what was flying around in my front yard. Said they were harmless, killer cicadas. So today- someone comes for my official appointment and leaves immediately because he's allergic to wasps!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? #1- I still don't know what's flying around my yard because these folks have given me 2 different assessments. Stay away at all costs! Orkin is a legit SCAM. We had Sandy damage and needed work done in crawl only 8 weeks after our daughter was born in May 2025. Unfortunately, the work moved things around and we started seeing ants coming up floor board. Due to sleep deprivation we did not read the reviews before contacting Orkin. Basically Orkin will come for initial visit and do their job but follow ups are either canceled, super late, or not done at all. In our case, Orkin showed up after canceling follow up. Then came when we weren't home and sprayed for mosquitos (which we never needed) we have ants. We let them know of the error and once again cancelled and showed up when not home and sprayed for mosquitos. We call the office and they start arguing with us over our package! Like our ants magically morphed into mosquitos. Now we have a SERIOUS infestation including ants on the babies changing table, crib and in breast pump. I was actually crying on the phone and they could care less. Claimed a manager Sean would call us and a refund would be issued. We cancel end of August after tech shows up and sprays chemicals in our living room bassinet, sits on our couches and drops gel poison on floor. If it couldn't get worse they sent a truck on 9/25 without any message or confirmation. My husband called right away and they argue we need to give them 30 day notice! Are you kidding me? Now they are telling us we owe them money and threatening to send to collections. The stress we have endured postpartum because of Orkin cannot be articulated. My rating is actually a zero. A termite technician came in July (unscheduled) and said that 3 exterior termite cannisters had to be replaced but he would have to speak to his manager. Never came back and we received no call back. I called our local office (New Hyde Park) and and got a scheduled appointment on three separate occasions; all no shows and no calls. I called NHP office and asked for management twice in Sept. (1 week apart). I was told the manager was not onsite and would call back. No call backs. I now have a case file number and I am told that my case has been "escalated" to the regional office. That said, no call back and and no replacement cannisters. read more

This is a follow up with photos of the review I sent two weeks ago. To date $2000 plus dollars was spent have metal protections around the back of my house of which the repairs has come apart to keep mice and any other rodents from re-entering my home. Also the billing I called about numerous times which is not correct for someone to correct it and it has been ignored, but you keep sending billing statements I do not owe. Extremely poor customer service. I canceled my account because I was being overcharged. They were debiting my account and then told me that I owe a separate bill for a mosquito bundle. This company doesn't treat pests. THEY ARE THE PEST! Awful experience. I called them for a problem with mice in the first floor, they came to take a superficial look outside the house and someone else later to just put some glue traps in random places. They offered me to fill some holes for more than $2000! Nothing new that I was not doing, no help, none of the traps got anything. I had to keep looking thoroughly until I found the entry point, which, obviously, was none of the places they barely looked at. I called 6 times to the customer services for a refund. They always told me the same: the manager will call you. I never received a call. The quality of the customer services is the same as the quality of the actual service. USELESS!! I received a text message at 5:10pm yesterday that they were going to come TODAY with a window of 9:15-5:45. what? Be available all day tomorrow? You can't just text back and respond you won't be available and of course, when I did call back, the branch was closed. I called them to do a carpet beetle spray. They charged for that but did a very poor spraying of the perimeter focused on ants. They did not call back to adjust the price. I cancelled all future service with them. Very disappointed with their service and would not recommend. Saw a mouse. Called Orkin. Said they would be there between 12 and 2. They call at 2:30 and say they'll be there at 3. Not a "sorry we're late, be there soon," but a "this is definitely during the window so I have no need to say anything." They came and charged us over $200 to put down a few traps and they found a hole they couldn't fill in the side of the house. I filled the hole myself. Two weeks later get an email saying they are coming this week between 12 and 2. Get a call at 2:30 saying they'll be here at 3. Charged us another $100+ to look around a put out a couple more traps. I find and cover two holes leading from the basement to the first floor, including one that is incredibly obvious and was not mentioned at all by Orkin. Mice no longer get to main living space. Suddenly we get an unsolicited call offering a free termite inspection, they can come today! Surprise surprise, termites. "See? Here's one on this shovel. Here's a contract. Watch this 3 minute video on my iPad explaining what termites do like you don't know what termites are. Give us $2000 to put out Sentricon, the only one you should look into. If you get any other estimates make sure they're using Sentricon." I call another exterminator to get another termite estimate. Guess what? "No termites. Also, Sentricon is no good. Also Orkin lied about the termites to try and scare you out of $2k. No charge for the inspection, call us if you ever have any REAL pest issues" Sentricon is a system that goes in the ground outside of your house. It is just a series of baits with wood in them and nothing to kill them (at first). Eventually termites WILL find these, because termites are in the ground just about everywhere. Then Orkin can tell you "see? we found termites" and convince you that they WERE in your house, but now will be attracted to the baits. That's when they switch the poison into the baits to kill them. It WILL work and WILL kill termites around your property, which is not a bad thing, but just because termites are AROUND your house does not mean they are INSIDE your house. TL;DR: They do very little and charge very much. They also may lie to you about nonexistent termites to try to scare you into an expensive, years-long contract. They are not trustworthy. read more

Since I had no way of getting in contact with the office in anyway, phone calls, left voicemails & emails, no response, I had to go down to the actual office to finally be heard. I had Orkin come to my house on 8/30 to treat a yellowjacket infestation at my house. Although the treatment eradicated much of the problem, the problem persisted, but on a much smaller scale. Orkin returned to my house on 9/6 and retreated the area. Within a day, I was finding dead yellowjackets INSIDE my house, so that was proof the problem wasn't fixed. On 9/8, when looking to close up the hole where they were coming in, my son discovered a few very live and healthy ones. I called Orkin once more and was told that nobody could get to my house until 9/17! I told them I needed somebody sooner. I was told somebody from the local office would call me. Nobody ever did. Fast forward a week and then yesterday, 9/17, a very healthy, alive and angry yellowjacket popped up in my house--from the same nest. Do not hire Orkin! We contacted Orkin after buying our first home and realizing there was an infestation. We called and they described to us the inspection they would do and the various methods of diagnostics/treatment/prevention they'd be able to perform. Our goal was to have the infestation addressed professionally before moving into our new home! A 3-4 week timeframe. The technician arrived AFTER the appointment window with no communication. When he arrived he told me he did not have the proper spraying equipment and had to improvise. No inspection was performed, he walked into the house and without warning started spraying the first floor. I didn't even have time to put a mask on or leave the room before he sprayed. He then sprayed the outside of the house, and handed me some glue traps and then left. As he was leaving he said I probably shouldn't go back into the house for a week. He did not even go to the basement or second floor of the home before he left. We called Orkin regional management who confirmed this was wrong, and that a full inspection should have taken place as well as treatment of the whole home. We were told someone would call us back. After getting no call back, WE called THEM daily with no response for four days straight. Now two weeks after that bad service we are still calling back!!! Daily! We were able to speak to another manager yesterday who approved a refund but told us someone would call us back to finalize. NOPE! Still no call back. No refund. The worst of it is, we are out of time and have to move into an infested home!!! Orkin has made a terribly upsetting situation so much worse by their unprofessionalism and inept management. You can not rely on this company to do their job. Stay FAR away, and work with a local company instead. Follow up appointments to actually try and solve the problem were rescheduled out without any notice. I was also not given a time-block for service just wasting my time waiting at home all day for someone who won't show up.
