I called this company early in the morning to eliminate the wasp nest in my shed. I spoke with Lakia, who provided excellent customer service. She was informative and very helpful and caring. Kornil arrived 4 hours later. He found the problem and sprayed and sprayed. He searched for more nests in the area but didn't find any. He stayed about 10 minutes making sure he got them all including the larvae. I definitely recommend this company. read more

I cannot speak to this company's general pest control services, but my experience with their wildlife removal was extremely disappointing. They explicitly promised to install a one-way exclusion door at a roof entry point to prevent raccoons from re-entering my attic. That work was never completed. Instead, they placed two traps on the roof, caught one raccoon, returned once to collect the second trap, and then stopped altogether. As a result, there are still at least two raccoons living in my ceiling, and the underlying issue remains unresolved. I was originally quoted over $2,000 due to the supposed complexity of installing the exclusion door, all of which had to paid in advance of any work being done. I was later given a "discount" of $962.96 but only after complaining about the job not getting done, bringing the total to $1,062.92. For that price, only one raccoon was removed, and the agreed-upon exclusion work was never performed. This does not reflect the service that was promised or paid for. I would strongly recommend getting clear, written confirmation of all work to be completed before hiring this company. read more

I strongly advise anyone considering working here to think twice. This company is plagued by nepotism, with family members in managerial positions. Unfortunately this leads to favoritism and creates a hostile, toxic atmosphere where employees are treated with disrespect on a regular basis. Matthew Garten in particular belittles and speaks down to employees with patronizing attitude, making it even more difficult to work in such an enviroment. The company clearly does not care about mental health or well being. The environment is so toxic that it takes a serious toll on you. Verbal abuse is common in the work place and no matter how hard you work nothing is appreciated. There is absolutely no support for mental health and the company does nothing to address the negative environment they fostered. HR is unresponsive and unreliable. Good luck trying to get any issues addressed, whether it's about missed paychecks or poor work conditions. Some trucks don't even have running Ac functioning. I can't recommend this company to anyone who values fair treatment, mental health and a supportive environment. Good luck going to management. They don't care either. read more

My landlord's exterminator. Were I to only deal with Robert Myslik, Mathew Burkitt and Jessica Garten, I would assign them more stars. Those three have integrity and were honest. Something is amiss with the administration of this company and the system is cut off from humanity. They have treated me with great cruelty and horror, withholding insect IDS and not treating on a monthly basis as required by NYC law, presumably at the behest of the agent to my building. Failure to inform me of Insect IDs has made me very, very sick. They are supposed to be in the business of killing bugs, not people. Something is awful when love of money is more important than humanity. Having said that, Jessica was lovely and the supervisor Mathew has said that he will not lie in court. I hope that they will both come to court voluntarily and testify. read more

Bad with appts, not timely, kept rescheduling on us, sent someone with equipment for a problem we didn't have so had to reschedule again because they didn't listen and made up notes on our acct for roaches that we done have, exterminator didn't check the whole house, 3 months later same rodent issue. Charged almost $400 for nothing, was supposed to apply $100 off and never did, still contacting them 3 months later to fix it and still nothing. They are thieves and not professional at all. I had something in my ceiling panel of my enclosed balcony extension. I can hear russtling and scratching. I honestly don't use the room for much, just for storage. I'm not entirely sure how long they have been up there but I saw some kind of hole in the corner of the room. I tried to contact terminix but nobody called me back. Got a hold of another company and they turned me down because I suspected it to be squirrels and they said I needed to find someone who does trapping. I came across Select and was able to speak to Crystal on the phone who was able to send someone over that day. She was super nice and broke down all of the cost for me. She explained that it would be about $130 just for an inspection. This includes looking for all entries into the area, checking what actually is the issue, and sealing any holes temporarily with wire mesh. If they need to trap the squirrels, there would be a charge of about 500+ dollars and the 130 would go back towards that amount. Luckily for me, we found only 1 entry and was able to chase out 3 squirrels from my ceiling. Greg was my exterminator and he helped check the roof for holes and opened up the ceiling panels to evaluate the issue. He found the hole outside under my gutter where the squirrels chewed through the wood. He sealed it up for the time being so now I need to look for a contractor to permanently seal this. Greg was extremely helpful and was honest in telling me that he didnt feel the need to do trapping. The trapping would also have required me to be home all week. Every day they set up the traps and come to pick up traps too. Overall pretty happy with the service. The only thing is the wait for Greg to come to my home. They estimated 12-4pm arrival, and he ended up coming around 3:50pm. Not a really that big of a deal though. read more

He inspected all the rooms and did a check of some other spaces it could have been, and he checked every inch of the bathroom and my son's room where the rat ran into. He Identified entry points, laid down tons of traps, put steel wool to as a temporary block for entry points, and during the visit the rat was caught in a trap and he got rid of it! I have a mouse I couldnt catch so i called the professionals. Three different techs came to my home. All were polite and professional and tried diligently. However, the mouse is still running around my kitchen and den every night. I paid a single fee that came with a months guarantee. I understand that in my case this was a losing proposition for the company. I would even have agreed to an additional fee if something new was being offered. Matthew the owner suddenly cancelled an appointment I had stayed home waiting for and said I needed to pay for the visit or go on monthly maintenance which would include them checking the traps. Monthly maintenance? Nothing had been caught. Then he tried to charge me $189 to have a tech come back to put my radiator covers back on. He relented but the experience was disheartening. Select Exterminating is highly recommended! I am a new home owner and I purchased the year/quarterly service because my tenants were complaining about spiders and centipedes. Once they serviced me, I have yet to see any of these insects ever again! The call center are very helpful in working with your schedule. HOWEVER if you ever get an exterminator by the name of DEVIN, have them send you someone else. DEVIN is extremely unprofessional and belligerent. I scheduled a service a few days ago and was told the exterminator is scheduled to come between the hours of 12-4. By the time 3pm rolled around, I decides to call and see when he would come service me. DEVIN calls me and states he is in Staten Island and he will unfortunately have to come after 4pm, unless I can reschedule. I told him it is quite alright to come later because today is my only day off. I informed him to please call me at least 30 minutes prior to arrival because I do not live nearby. I also informed the representative, who stated he will inform the exterminator. About an hour later DEVIN calls me and states he is outside. I said "why didn't you call me prior?" "I do not reside there, please give me 20 minutes to make my way over there" DEVIN says "ok" I get to the location about 27 minutes due to traffic. DEVIN states he is leaving, he did the top floor and has school and has to go. I asked why didn't you call me and tell me before wasting my time to come all the way here. He says it is not his fault, he waited too long and now he is leaving. He was very nasty and unprofessional on the phone. Initially you were suppose to come between 12-4p, came late, never completed the job, wasted my time and spoke about another obligation and was rude to top it off!!! Luckily for me, Ms. Lizette the supervisor gave me a free service for the inconvenience and sent someone who was excellent to complete the subpar work that DEVIN left. My whole day was over. I have never been so upset in my life. If you are choosing to go with Select Exterminators, request that they do not give you DEVIN and make sure to ask for the name of the exterminator. My problem is still there and it cost all my hair and badly affected my health because I breathe in the spores of flies. They did not tell me this and am very sick as a result. When I called for refund of my money, I got the "run around" and had to call my credit card company to dispute the charge. i called select and was told how they will deal with mice and possibly a rat. they would dust the lower room woodwork close to the floor with poison that would not be harmful to animals. said they would show me the chemical composition. also look for holes and put powder there and set a rat trap if there was one. the premise was that there is always a minute space between the floor and woodwork where they can squeeze in. upon discussing the follow-up visit with the technician i learned that he had pulled out the stove in the kitchen did not tell me he was going to do that. he was supposed to pull out the closet and check for holes in the back and apply dust poison . as i asked him to repeat the process when he returned. i learned he did not do the perimeter of the living room and bedroom. he dusted under the sink where there where plumbing spaces underneath that no steel wool was put to block it. when i asked him to redust the perimeters of the room over the cell he said he had only done the kitchen and one heating baseboard in the bathroom. he not only didn't do what the company promised but he got defensive and indicated he was not going to do perimeter if he saw no holes. he said if he went underneath the lower room woodwork he would have to break my flooring. mind you he was 2 hours late already said he would be another fourty minutes. one and a half hours later he called i told him about the trap he put down the first time was never set as the flange with the peanut butter was straight up. he denied it. the attitude and intimidation about braking the floor plus the sloppy work without an id is not my idea of a professional company. read more

They stole my money! I was charged for an inspection and was told the amount would be deducted from the price of service when I booked. That was NOT the case. I called to set up an appt for service a month later and was told my consultation fee wouldn't be deducted from the service price because I was supposed to book it the same day of the consultation. At no point did the serviceman explain that to me. I am extremely disappointed and angry. I was charged $130+ to have someone flash his flashlight in my closet and dresser drawers for 5 minutes. I expressed my disappointment to the rep who answers their phone and even after informing her manager, I was still being charged the full price! I would never recommend a company so shady to anyone! We were just finishing up in the garage around 10:00 pm on a Friday night when we see what looked like a raccoon running from the garage into the basement, which was being redone and was filled with construction materials, furniture and boxes! OMG! This thing was the size of a cat! He scurried under a bunch of stuff and we could not get him out even though we opened the door to the outside and started banging, ringing a bell and flashing the lights. We called 311, as well as 911 (311 said this was what you did as Animal Control was closed). When we realized that no cops were coming, we started Googling! And thank you Select Exterminating! We found you at 11:00 pm on a Friday night and within an hour Michael (the Possum Wrangler) showed up. He went in with no more than a cage, a flashlight and bite-proof gloves and darned if he didn't come out in 10 minutes with possum literally IN HAND! This "exterminator" did not Exterminate a thing! All they did was steal my money for 5 minutes of their time. They gave me the wrong advice for my problem; even after I explained that I already knew that what they were saying was not true. The exterminator then said "well I have 30 years experience and this is the problem." The next day I called a cheaper exterminator who found the problem (which was not what select said) and exterminated it. Sect Exterminating stole my money and my time especially after being promised I would receive a thorough inspection. I do NOT consider 5 minutes where the exterminator did not look around or spray or do anything but talk about what was clearly not right and experience a thorough inspection, or an inspection at all for that matter. Do NOT waste your money as It's like throwing it in the garbage. read more
