I'm so thrilled I found this honest company to guide me on what I thought was bedbugs in my home at midnight. Mike was wonderful and guided me via telephone consult about what I was experiencing and troubleshooting the situation. I was able to email him pictures, which he evaluated and was able to explain in full detail how the marking on my bed were not bed bugs based on the pictures and me explaining the physical situation over the phone. I found a single bedbug and freaked out so I turned to Yelp to find some experts on the problem. After dealing with 3-4 different vendors, Mike and I got on the phone and it was the best experience hands down. He was responsive, honest, and very detailed with his information. He gave me some guidance on how to inspect for these bugs in the future, as well as some preventive measures I could take in the meantime. While most vendors offered to come out immediately for treatment (1-3 sprays), Mike advised me to keep calm and watch out for signs of additional bugs since I only found one. It was refreshing not having someone push you to schedule the job. I got such a good vibe that I inquired about his treatment and it was definitely the best quote I got (in terms of service for value) - it included treatment for the whole unit, K-9 inspections afterwards, and a 6 month warranty. I'm surprised these guys don't have more reviews because Michael and his team (other Michael) were truly a godsend amidst one of the most stressful things I've had to go through as a resident of NYC (and we put up with A LOT). I can honestly say I could not have survived this bed bug situation without them. I cannot thank them enough. After dealing with incompetent and less than helpful exterminators my building management hired, I heard about GotchA! from some friends and decided to give them a call. I had contacted 3 other exterminator companies by then, and ultimately went with GotchA!, because they (1) weren't trying to get me to pay an insane amount of money for things I probably didn't need (I'm talking over $10,000+ to transport my stuff and fumigate it in some warehouse), (2) had a really good plan to work with my particular situation (I needed to move, which complicated things), (3) were great at explaining things in a calm way and genuinely cared about my well being! My Husband and I along with our children went to Mystic on vacation at a familiar place we've been to before. Every single time I travel, I do a quick inspection. The first night, I didn't find anything, but maybe my inspection wasn't thorough. The second day, we woke up and I felt incredibly itchy. I did an inspection and did not like what I saw. I called management and lo and behold, they inspected the sheets in front of us and found a bug a long with some other gross things. They moved us immediately to another room which appeared fine. I returned home and started freaking. I left everything on my porch in the yard. I was petrified of bringing the bugs home. After a couple of sleepless nights and paranoia, I spoke with a friend and she had mentioned Michael who is a bed bug specialist. I contacted him at 7am. Yes, his hours are 7am to 6:30am. I was going to wait til later to call him, but again- paranoid over here and I needed to speak to him right away. He was a pleasant person to speak to- listened to my experience and answered my annoying questions. He came to see me later that afternoon to check my room out while ALL my belongings were still on my deck out back. He tore apart the bed- and did a thorough search. He assured me that all is well and that it was carpet beetles that I had, if anything. He advised me to wash and launder everything, vacuum my luggage and that I should be fine. I had a horrible experience with this company and would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I waited a long time to post this, as I wanted to see if they or their lawyer would be following up at all, but they haven't so here it goes. Last December/January I moved into an apartment in upper Manhattan. Before I got there, the previous tenant of my room hired Gotcha Bed Bug Inspectors to get rid of the bed bugs in the apartment. Gotcha Bed Bug Inspectors told her that the apartment was all clear so I moved in. Within a week of moving in, I was covered in bites. I went to the dermatologist, and he said they were definitely bed bug bites. My roommate called Gotcha Bed Bug Inspectors to come back. A Gotcha employee named Heather came back and told my roommate that she had to leave the apartment because of the fumes (but our cats could stay??) and so my roommate left. Upon returning home that night from work, I realized that my brand new Macbook and its power cord were gone. I called the police and filed a report. Nothing else in the apartment was stolen and there was no evidence of a break-in whatsoever. I was devastated. I called Michael the next morning and he said that absolutely not, Heather would never do anything like that, he couldn't believe it, etc. etc. He did not offer to look into this matter further or reimburse me for the stolen item or his services. Next thing I know, his lawyer is contacting me asking me to show him the receipt for my laptop and the account of what happened that day. I did so in a timely matter and never heard another word from him. I called him and he threatened to take me to court. I didn't want to go through an expensive court hearing, lawyers, etc so I didn't take them to court. It's been about a year since I've had any correspondence with them. In addition to this whole ordeal, their extermination was not at all effective. The next week I was still getting bitten! My roommate called the landlord. The landlord called his exterminator who came and finally got rid of the bugs. Also the landlord's exterminator told my roommate that she should never have to leave the apartment for an exterminator. I also told Michael that the bed bugs were not exterminated and he did not offer to reimburse my roommate for the services. I definitely didn't want them coming back into my home. I know it sounds silly because it's just a computer, but this was a truly traumatic experience. I work hard and paid for that laptop with my own hard-earned money. My roommate works hard and paid for the exterminators with her own hard-earned money. The whole situation was horrible and not at all dealt with properly, they just swept it under the (infested) rug and I never heard from them again. These are all true occurrences. After I noticed some large welts on my legs, my doctor confirmed my worst fear- bed bug bites! My roommates and I called Gotcha! as they came highly recommended by a friend who had used them to eliminate bed bugs. The rep must have heard the desperation in my voice; they had someone come over the same day. Mike arrived on time with his dog Duke. Duke walked around the apartment with Mike and determined the sources of the bed bugs. Mike then sprayed down the entire apartment that same night and gave us explicit directions for ways we can help eradicate the problem like washing and drying all bedding and vacuuming as much as possible. This is the first time I am posting a review. I believe in supporting small businesses especially when they exceed all expectations. I called Mike because my daughter had bites upon waking up and I was convinced we had bed bugs. Mike was so pleasant to deal with. He had a very easy going attitude, he was very knowledgeable and assured me if I had bed bugs, that he would find them. It turns out he didn't find anything in my home. He stayed for an hour speaking with my husband and myself providing information and what we should be doing and looking out for in our home in terms of bed bugs. He also uses methods in exterminating bed bugs other than pesticides if you do have a problem and his work is guaranteed. Another thing that I must stress is that Mike did not try to push any extra services to try and get money from us.
