Awful. I used them for a few years and I totally regret it! They came every month to spray and I was always told that he didn't see any "activity" and that everything looked good. However, I was vacuuming webs daily- so I knew that wasn't true. $100 a month for someone to lie to my face and not take care of the issue. He was in and out. Absolute scam with no regard for customer care and concern. I hired Orkin to do an inspection, they immediately sign you up for a monthly subscription with an initiation fee. As long as they send someone to your house, they don't actually care if the pest problem is fixed...you will be billed regardless of the outcome of the services they provide. They will also send an inspector out who will likely put a 4-5 figure quote in front of you as another money grab attempt. I've seen much better customer service and resolution of pest problems with Terminix in the Chicago area. 5/20/25 Talk to Alante and canceled my service. 5/27/25 I used Orkin service in my previous home for many years and was always satisfied. I moved from that house more the 10 tears ago. Last year in late summer or early fall, I started seeing ants in my condo unit. Of course, I called Orkin. I sign up for bi-monthly treatments. On a few occasions a technician came out in between my regular service date because the ants continued to get in. Sometimes I would see them dead, in the glue trap or just crawling around. My last treatment was in April 2025 and scheduled to return in June. I feel like at some point the poison that was used, should've made it's way to the nest to get rid of the rest. It didn't. I asked for something stronger. Anyway. I finally bought some baits over the counter. After a couple of days I saw fewer ants. Usually dead. After almost 1 month, I have not seen any ants at all. I have been excited about this. I feel like whatever Orkin was using was watered down. I feel like I wasted my money and would like to be compensated. I am very disappointed. For 1 year I waited and waited for Orkin to rid my home of the ants but they didn't. I paid $101 monthly to feed their pockets. I was robbed. When I reached out to Orkin via telephone, it seemed that they weren't concerned. They just canceled my service as I requested. I sent a message via their website and never got a response. 6/3/25 Talked to Ross who said disregard the letter i got today about June's service. I was charged 270 just for a guy to place 4 mice traps in my home and then I was told that I'd have to pay an additional unknown fee for an inspector to actually stop the mice from coming in!!! this wasn't explained to me prior and when I asked for a refund they gave me the run around for weeks!! i was told that I'd receive $225 back but they only refunded me $40. I called to see what happened and they said the lady in charge never submitted the appointment, mind you they called me to verify the appointment. 3. They redirected me to another phone number and directed me right back to the same lady that gave me the number to call someone else. The guy gets here and looks in the basement and looks outside and then hands me a paper for a contact of $594 for the year!!! What? No one told me any of this when I made the appointment!! This is another review that I wish I could leave less than a one star rating. I contacted Orkin to come out to my home because I was getting bees in my home. I scheduled March 4th at 10 am and received a confirmation from their company for the date and time. However, I look at my camera from work yesterday and one of their technicians is at my front door. I called to inquire why he was there today and I find out they got the dates wrong and then told me that the date that I took off from work to be here to have someone come to the home is no longer available then they try to give me a 12 to 2 time slot. I wouldn't have made an appointment for 10 to 12 if I could do 12 to 2. This was to be a 7 Marshfield nth contract, not now. I rearranged my schedule and delayed taking care of things I need to take care of today. There are many companies struggling to stay afloat these days; this should be realized when working with clients. Mistakes happen but it is the resolution that matters. Going to cancel my service with Orkin. I am not satisfied with the service. 2 occurrences where I tried to call and reschedule a "randomly generated" appointment that I get in a text. Call the office to reschedule and nobody ever picks up the phone. I leave messages stating I'd like to reschedule and the orkin service rep still shows up to the house to do a "perimeter check". Orkin service does seem to work on pest control but.. . customer service is not good. Added charges appear without explanation. Services such as mosquito control are added on unwanted and said to be part of program but you are actually charged for it seperately. Scheduling is done arbitrary. They do not call to see when it is convenient for you. So you have to call them back to reschedule. I will admit all the actual service providers were polite & professional. Recommend it only if you ask many, many questions. read more

I have tried to cancel my Orkin account several times. Just two days ago, I called the 800 number to lodge a complaint about the continued contact and the constant scheduling of appointments that I have indicated I do not want. This was all prompted when I received a bill recently for service even after I requested that service be cancelled. Apparently an Orkin service technician came out and sprayed the outside of my home. I had no idea it had taken place, and was confused about why I kept receiving emailed bills when (as far as I knew) I had not only cancelled the service, I had told them to NOT schedule my home for another treatment until I gave them explicit permission. When I called the central customer service number, they apologized and removed the charge. So I am unclear why, two days after having that conversation, I have been scheduled for another service visit. Today is Jan 3, 2020. I have sent most of the above information to Orkin as an email. Perhaps, by posting here, I can finally be free of Orkin. The actual technician was fine, but the constant, sleazy attempts to back door a way to charge me for a service I don't want have really soured me on this company. read more

Allow me to join the chorus of people who are extremely dissatisfied with Orkin. You're essentially paying them several hundred dollars to set up mouse traps and plug up holes. But we figured a professional service would be more thorough than doing it ourselves. As it turned out, they couldn't even do that right. Our first inspector came in and failed to set traps in all of the necessary places, and also lied about setting them up in the crawlspace. He also didn't plug a single hole. Rat problem continued. On our second visit, a different inspector did set more traps in necessary areas, but did not plug the holes. Also, none of the traps caught mice. (We were told these traps had special bait that mice couldn't resist. I guess they could.) Rat problem continued. Finally, we just gave up and plugged all the holes ourselves and set up our own new traps. We caught two mice (in our traps, not Orkin's) and haven't seen one since. At this point Orkin had $400 of our money. We were told they have a 100% money back guarantee, but when I called to request a full refund, they only credited back one month of service, leaving us hanging for $300. I am now in the process of going back and forth with the local supervisor and the company. They're insisting we "didn't give them a chance to fix the problem." I would say two inspectors who simply didn't do their job is enough chance, especially since we ended up doing their job for them. The saga continues. read more

If I could give this company negative stars I would. We have a mouse in our house. We called Orkin to set up pest removal service. We were told over the phone that the technician would come to our home, patch ALL holes on the exterior that could be leading to the mouse entering our home, as well as set traps and lay down chemical to deter the mouse/mice from our home. We were told they would inspect all areas of the home including the attic. The technicians arrived, were unprofessional from the beginning. They walked my husband around the perimeter of our home and pointed out holes that HE needed to fill. They did not fill any holes. They then came inside and again pointed out areas HE needed to fix, did not fill or fix anything. They laid a few traps and sticky pads in the home (which we had already had since the first sighting of the mouse), and that was it. The customer service rep sure sold us on a their service but the technicians did not live up to the expectation. Do not use Orkin. Total sales pitch, unprofessional work, not worth the money. Just an awful business. This location never picks up the phone, never respond to voicemails or emails. The company continues to disburse service men a for a service that's no-longer required. Mice are magically getting into upstairs unit and no where else. In June 2022 a "specialist" came and refused to get out the car because it was raining. I've been calling and asking since June 2022 to send someone back out. My regular tech said he would text the specialist. No one has reached out to me and it's Oct 28 2022. Issue is not resolved. Still have not received any refund on account. They schedule appointments with you and don't put them in the system and then they go in the system randomly and make other appointments for you without your knowledge. So basically you need to be available when it's convenient for them. The technicians clearly hate their job and have no desire to do more than the bare minimum. You get no call backs from them when you leave a message you have to keep calling and the "branch manager" thinks things are going smoothly so won't even listen to feedback. You know you are in trouble when the manager has a terrible attitude. You are better off searching the internet for your own solutions. I don't recommend this company. Based on my experience, my opinion is that they are unorganized at best and dishonest at worst. I decided to cancel my service appointment because I was afraid that doing business with this company would lead to headaches. The short: I called this company about 5-6 times trying to establish service. I got conflicting information. Some representatives failed to follow through. They said there wasn't a contract, but there is. They said I could cancel any time, but the contract commits me to a 12 months term. They increased the price from $114 that was quoted to $249 when I said I did not want to sign the service agreement. The long: Over the phone two separate representatives gave me a quote and assured me there was no contract and future services could be cancelled at any time. I found out there is a service agreement. I don' t know how that's different than a contract. I tried to get a copy of the agreement in advance of my service and one representative told me I couldn't have it. Another representative said they would email me the contract, but I did not receive it. Finally a different representative did send me a copy of the service agreement and it had a 12 month term and no provisions to cancel at any time. It allows me to cancel within three days of signing and after 12 months. I called the Alsip location. The representative said if I didn't want to sign the agreement, I could do a one time service, it would be $249. The had originally told me it would be $114 per treatment. I have been an Orkin Customer with the Alsip Branch #520 since 2012. The Manager there is Jim Montalbano. Yes the customer service has been questionable in the past BUT the customer service and blatant DISRESPECT I EXPERIENCED on 11/29/22 was LIKE NOTHING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE IN MY LIFETIME WITH A BUSINESS. I was originally scheduled for my regular service appointment 11/19/22 between 8-10am. I received a call from my regularly scheduled technician that my appt needed to rescheduled b/c it was his off day. The appt was rescheduled for 11/21/22 from 4-6pm no one ever showed up nor was I contacted by the branch concerning the appt. I then get an email and text from Orkin on 11/28/2022 stating my appt is now scheduled for 11/29/2022 between 8am - 6pm. I then receive another email and text from Orkin a couple hours later stating the appt is now scheduled for 11/29/2022 between 8am - 10am. I called the branch and spoke to Riley who I have encountered in the past and is always extremely rude and condescending. I explained the situation about the previous appt that was rescheduled an no one showed up and about the recent correspondences I received regarding the 11/29/22 appt. I explained that I would not be available from 8am - 6pm as well as 8am - 10am because I am a teacher and am work during that time. Riley says to me "so you work" and I say "yes" with confusion in my voice because I do not understand the nature of Riley's question. I also ask Riley why am I receiving multiple correspondences regarding the appt on 11/29/2022. Riley says "the system will generate an appt with a full window between 8am - 6pm and its up me the customer to call the branch and ask what time they would have available to service my home". I told Riley "this makes no sense its like I'm doing the work of Orkin" Riley says "well this is how it goes and you say you do work and can't be serviced on 11/29/2022 between 8am - 10am" I tell Riley "no I can not" and further explained that I am a teacher and have the appt scheduled because of that reason. Riley is very dismissive in his interaction with me. Riley then explains that he has an appt available for 11/29/22 between 4-6pm I tell Riley that time slot will work. On 11/29/22 at 11:55 am (while I am in the middle of teaching) my cell phone rings back to back 3 times. On the 3rd ring I answer and the person on the line says "Hello this is Orkin are you home ?" at this point I am taken aback. The individual doesn't introduce himself but I later find out his name is Trayvon. I say to Trayvon "no I am not at home I am at work, you are calling me on my job which is not acceptable" . The technician Trayvon says "wait a minute lady I'm trying to you a favor a provide your service" I say to Trayvon "no you wait you are not doing me a favor and my appt is scheduled today between 4-6pm " . Trayvon says very rudely "I know BUT I am finished with my appts for today and you are the last one so I'm calling to see if you are ready now". I tell Trayvon no and that I explained the day before when I spoke to Riley when I would be available and you are disturbing me on my job your problem is with Riley not me. Trayvon says "well fine you will be home between 4-6pm" I tell Trayvon "yes I will but not for you to service my home because you are very rude and I would not feel comfortable letting you in my home Thank You" On my prep period (in which I am to be engaging in teacher preparation activities) I call the BRANCH #520 and after the run around with several customer service reps I am finally able to speak to the Branch Manager Jim Montalbano. Jim tells me what he understands my situation to be from the customer service representatives I spoke to which was all wrong. I explain my plight with Orkin and with Riley and Trayvon. Jim proceeds to take up for Riley explaining to me he has been working for Orkin for over 30 years and is a stellar employee. I tell Jim I don't know why he is telling me all of this and if this situation is not resolved I will contact the BBB and retain legal services. Jim doesn't like my response and tells me "you will not get service because I said I would file a complaint with the BBB and this conversation is over" Jim hangs up on me. I call back and get the run around from customer service representatives until I am able to speak with JOSH the REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICES MANAGER. Josh was very understanding when I explained my situation and not rude or condescending. Josh contacted the Alsip Branch 520 and was able to get me an appt between 4-6 pm with another technician (NOT TRAYVON). Aaron came to do my service and was excellent. I made an appointment on Sunday for an inspection on Monday and selected an 8a-10a appointment window. 10 minutes before the window was up, I receive a call saying that the person that my inspection was given too doesn't work in the area and they pushed it off on someone who does and that person, Peter, was swamped today and couldn't come. Very unprofessional to give a time frame and not honor it and then call at the last minute. I've done business with this company before but this has caused me to seek another company. I have been trying to cancel my service since Feb. Manager is not calling me back. They came to service my house for April after I told them to cancel. I refused the service yet still have a bill for $92. Tech cam out when there was snow outside. Said he serviced the outside of my house. Never came inside. I could make this a long drawn out review; however, the long and the short of it is that they don't follow up when they say they are going to and as a result I pay for extra service I didn't need. At the conclusion of my 30 minute call with them, I can only conclude that the entire issue was my fault. At least that is basically what they continued to tell me. Also if you do decide to do this and ignore all of the 1 star reviews you better be very clear on who is authorized to agree to service. At first everything seemed fine the staff was courteous and able to schedule an appointment almost immediately. I called on a Saturday and they said the could be out on Monday morning, however then it all fell apart. They no showed for the appointment, blaming a computer error for scheduling it for a Sunday when they don't even operate, instead of Monday. They made no effort to make it right, I was instead given the option to cancel the visit or wait til Tuesday. I should have cut my losses, but I know I couldn't get someone else out on Tuesday at that point so i accepted the appointment. As far as the pest service is concerned the tech resolved it quickly and efficiently. Then we ran into my next and most frustrating issue. When i made the call I gave them a credit card to charge once the service was completed. The tech was unable to verify payment with his office so he said that we could pay with a check instead. You may have already guessed but we were double charged. Now the icing on the cake when I called to get a the the problem resolved instead of crediting me the overage they charged me a 3rd TIME! They seem very competent when dealing with pests, but the office staff is horrendous. Please save yourself the head ache and choose someone else. read more

Orkin did a very poor job of exterminating and baiting my property; poorly filled entry ways, inadequate supplies (using my own materials), improper examination (missed lots of entry points). We had a serious problem with pavement ants last year, I called Orkin and they were professional and friendly. Chaka was the service man that came out to my home to evaluate our issues. He was kind, knowledgeable, and understanding. I have two dogs and a small child, I was nervous about putting chemicals in my home. Chaka assured me the were affective, strong, yet wouldn't harm my dogs. He applied the needed granules and other liquid treatments, we saw results right away! We had a few flare ups, I would call and they come out right away. I seriously would give them an A+ for customer service! Everyone from the operators to Chaka were kind and knowledgable. They always called before coming out, and always came out when expected. Also true to our one dog's personally, she was too curious and ate some of the granules, I called Orkin, they told me she should be okay but gave me the ASAPA poison control hotline number. I called them, there is a small fee but it is a non-profit (I get it.) They looked up the product info that Orkin gave me, all I needed to do was give my dog some milk, she was totally fine. Again, everyone was helpful and kind. After a year of service, we have zero pavement ants. I would highly recommend this company if you are having pest issues. Sometimes you have to call in the Pros. After multiple calls with no return of voice message, was finally told that the person who made the appointment failed to link it to the technician's calendar. Wasted a day and burned time off work. Waiting for someone to re-schedule and tell me how I will be compensated.
