My partner and I needed a reliable company who also offers 24/7 emergency services if necessary. I like that they were available in my area after hours when I saw a tiny mice in my home, and the lady who answer the phone is very thorough and informative about their after hours service charge for a rodent extermination. I was told it's $400 just to get them to come out when it's after the normal business hours, which I understand but decided it wasn't that urgent and was able to wait until they open. The team was prompt about calling me back during normal hours, they gave me a window of between 12-2pm yesterday, and the technician who came out was also ahead of schedule and arrived early. He was thorough with the charges and the treatment plan, and it was something that's quick and easy which I appreciate. He set up the mouse bait stations which seems to be high tech where the mice enters and leaves and dies elsewhere instead of inside the station. I was serviced yesterday, and I will update this in about 10 days to see if the problem is better or worst. For now, I do recommend them since they're reliable, easy to work with, informative, friendly and thorough. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Please call them if you want to be called a liar and waste your money. I called this company off a recommendation from a neighbor that had the same issue as me. They came out the day I called so I thought "great! they are going to help!" Boy was I wrong. We are a month in and still do not have a resolution. At one point we were told the next step is to put a trap in our attic (we have a raccoon problem). From day 1, I told anyone that would listen, including them, that they could do whatever was necessary to resolve the issue. The next day when they came out, they re-baited the trap. We asked if they were putting one in the attic and they said no (they said they were the day before). Fast forward, we are past the 15 day period they gave us because the problem wasn't resolved. The man who came out told me he had never seen a raccoon this smart. I asked if he was putting a trap in the attic now since nothing so far has worked and he saw the nest up there. He told me no, he was going to put fried chicken in the trap. The next day, when I was not home, he wrote that there was no more activity and closed our contract. The issue is still ongoing. When we called to tell them the issue has not been resolved and we needed to call someone else out because now we have a whole family up there and in another part of the house, they said "then you should have called the next day." I was then told "Our employee wrote that you declined a trap in the attic twice we can't prove that that didn't happen and his manager told him to do it so he must have offered." I was also told by the same person that traps in the attic are not ideal, if that is the case then why did THEIR employee offer to do it in the first place and then refuse? At this point, I am more concerned with the fact that their staff is allowed to not only lie and omit information, but to call the customers liars. Conveniently, while looking through the paperwork, this employee makes no mention of going into my attic (which is in my daughter's room that has been torn apart for a month so they can access it at any time) and finding the nest, he also only mentions ONCE that we denied the attic trap for the 2nd time. If you value your money and customer service, I strongly urge you to go elsewhere. You may pay more but you will at least be treated with a shred a respect and have someone that hears you. read more

I contacted guardian because I saw mice in my house. When the technician arrived he told me that I had bigger problems because I had a raccoon in my attic. So I had to deal with the raccoon issue. I was charged $633.00 dollars to remove the raccoon and to put a temporary barrier that would last anywhere from 6 months to 2yr. After two weeks with a cage on my roof the raccoon was never caught so they closed my case. three weeks later a raccoon actually went into my attic and I called another company and it took two days for them to catch the raccoon.The so called temporary barrier was only a small piece of aluminum and a piece of chicken wire and three screws witch a squirrel or any small animal could have entered. When I called to speak to a manager I was spoke to by the technician who was very rude and actually called me a liar and told to that I was the one lying. These people are rude and do lousy work. We recently had a problem with some oppossums in and under our manufactured home. I called Guardian at 1:30 a.m., and the lady reassured me that someone would be out first thing in the morning. The technician came out promptly the next day and set a trap in the area inside the house where l had seen one. He came out every day to check the trap and to tell me more about how these critters behave. He also set a trap outside. Today he went over the whole house, and found the opening where they were getting in. He even gave us the materials to close up the hole. This technician's name is Jerry. He was very professional and friendly, and took plenty of time to explain everything to me. I was extremely pleased with his service! I am truly concerned if the person that came to my door tonight is representative of what you consider educated for your "licensed " applicators. I asked him is the chemicals used were cholinesterase inhibitors, his response was "I have no idea what those are." So I asked if he was an applicator, and he said yes. So I asked what chemicals were used. And he replied with "Chrysanthemum Oil, we only use organic." So I confirmed that you guys infact use Pyrethrins. And he argued that you dont use chemicals. I also told him that I ha e invertebrates as pets, and he assured me that your insecticide wouldn't kill them, that they would need "a bigger dose" then he tried to push standard fear monger bs that Black Widows and Brown Recluses kill and bite 100s every year. I told him that's a flat lie, there hasn't been a documented Black widow death since 1983. Y'all need to do better. And your applicators need to actually know what tf they are spraying. That "organic" pyrethrin would absolutely kill my tarantulas, wouldn't need a "bigger dose". Oh, did I mention I also have my actual state pesticide applicator license? read more

My mother and later myself, were longtime customers. Noticed over the years, especially recently, that effectiveness after service calls was down quite a bit. But we stuck with them. Then, after several years of continuing service, my mother became ill and we shifted our priorities and had not scheduled follow ups. We then recently called back as we had mice active in our garage. We were charged as new customers despite over 8 years of service with the company. I went ahead and paid, but then was told that to begin an interior program again for insects and spiders, I had to pay an additional start up fee because it was an entirely different plan than mice. This again after they had serviced us for 4 years in this new home with that service. I was told this was their policy after any 3 month lapse in service and there were no exceptions. What a horrible business model and frankly shocking that they would lose a longtime paying customer over a start up cost I refused to pay on principle. Guardian pest control services....... Well I have to say that the initial cost was more than I was expecting but the month to month after I'd fantastic......well in my opinion seeing I've dealt with others that have been more for less spraying. I just bought a house in Valparaiso, IN. I scheduled within a weeks notice and got the date I was requesting seeing I have a pretty busy work schedule. I contacted them from their website off of Google and I guess my phone number didn't go in right so when I called it was after their normal business hours. Their after hours receptionist took all my info and I received a call back the next day. I reexplained my needs and concerns and got scheduled. The tech that came out was on time and I walked him through everything and everything I needed. He was great and fast! Had a great attitude even with the humidity and the heat today. I signed up for the monthly service which was very reasonable. It was hard to swallow the 457.00 I was charged but I understand the reasoning. He even sprayed around my trees where the carpenter ants lived. Gave me advice about cutting the trees down around my house and what to do to prevent them from invading my house. Raccoons are NOT cute. They feasted on my neighbor's garbage cans, which were left unsecured, despite my warning them, and made a highway down my fence line (where the neighbor's cans were) and right into my crawlspace. Also, some other idiot neighbor is feeding all the wild cats and other critters in the neighborhood, and I hope she ends up with a bear in her house, even though we don't have them around here. Guardian was prompt and informative. They were out the very day I called them. Carl explained that I had raccoons and not squirrels, due to the size of the holes in the roof. I figured that much out the night prior when I looked in the crawlspace during daylight and then temporarily patched my roof with chicken wire and roof tiles. When dusk came the raccoon wanted out to his or her favorite garbage cans. I thought it was going to come through the ceiling so I got the ladder out in the dark and climbed up and opened one of my patches. On the way down the ladder I missed about four rungs and hyperextended my knee. Thanks, neighbor. You know who you are. Carl put a trap on the roof and further confirmed a raccoon (s) by the amount of poop that was up there. He explained about pricing and procedure that left no questions. Their prices seemed high, but you get what you pay for. Not too many places do bigger critter removal: they stick to bugs and rats and mice. Most don't even call you back, so price was relative. Go somewhere else and you've got a raccoon border tearing up your attic. It's that simple. Robert was the guy who did most of the checking on the trap and the only exit over the next 10 days. I got lucky. The raccoon never came back. Maybe it was hit by a car. Couldn't happen to a better raccoon. I opted to have Guardian put a temporary patch on the roof and to trim the tree branches back and to put spikes on the downspouts. All this cost too, but when you get rid of one critter you don't want new ones moving in. Carl also inspected the crawlspace and told me it did not need cleaning, sparing me the cost of that. Guardian does do cleaning, so I appreciated the honesty. Guardian won't offer cheap critter removal, but if you want to go with the part-time guy who never calls you back then you might end up with a zoo in your attic. They did a great job. read more

I found this company in the "yellow pages" for those who remember that pre-historic resource for services! I'd suffered for 3 days with a squirrel who'd entered my house from an unclosed top damper on the chimney. I called on Saturday morning and they arrived by 1030am. The technican was thorough, and got the squirrel (who had gotten into my duct work and was running through the 1st floor). The price was extremely reasonable. The technician recommended a type of screen that I can use with the top lock damper and I will have them install it. Use these people if an animal gets into your house. read more

This company has to be worse with service and performance. I was quoted a fair price to remove bats, cleanup and prevent them from returning. I was told it would be a week before they had a large crew available to do the work. On the day of they were due between 1 and 3, they called at 3 said they would be there between 4 and 6. 1 man showed up at 5, did not know the job, did not want to cleanup and was not going to perform the work agreed. They made me wait a week for 1 guy to come out and dispute what he was supposed to do. He also didn't have the order in hand to do the job. I actually paid these lazy people 85.00 (non refundable) to come out for a estimate. Wasted money and time. If you like to waste 85 dollars and not have the work performed, by all means, call this company. If you want actual work performed, call someone else. read more

Guardian Pest Control was called out to get rid of the squirrels in the house. They said that one squirrel was removed on their paperwork. However, when the tech spoke to me he said he removed two squirrels. They were supposed to go in the attic and they never did that. Where there was definitely a hole near the nest, they said it was not a hole. They lied! After they felt like they completed the service, I called them to come back because the squirrels were still here. They came and said that a new hole was dug exactly where I knew the original hole was previously located. They wanted to charge an additional $235 for this hole that was here when they came the first time. They suck. They just want to come out and get more money to do a half ass job. They said that the cages should not be on the ground. One of the squirrels knock it off the roof and they left it there when they came & left the next day. The tech will come and not even get up on the ladder. He would look up on the roof on his tippy-toes get in the car, write a ticket and put it in the door. He would then sit in his car for the allotted time that he needed to be here and then leave. Horrible service. We got scammed. Squirrels won. read more

Wish I could give this company NO stars! My family and I had been a loyal customer for many years. I arranged in advance for an appointment today to spray for roaches at one of my rental property. Was told the day of the appointment that the tech couldn't start the service unless he was paid up front. Who does that! Who pays for a service BEFORE the work is even started! And why wasn't this conveyed to me the day the appointment was made a week ago? So I advised the receptionist at Guardian that I was on my way to pay the tech(mind you I live 15-20mins away). She advised me that he couldn't stay that long because HE was running behind and had another job to get to. I advised her how is it my fault the tech is behind and besides since my family has used their company for so long, why can't they bill me as they've done previously? She said that has never been their policy (huh!!?!?!?) I had even used them at my personal residence and never paid before the work was done or even started! And if that is their NEW POLICY, why wasn't I told that when the appointment was made? I had arranged for my tenants to be home today to provide access for my appointment window. The tech had access to each apartment, so he could have at least started and I would be onsite shortly. She said no he couldn't wait. However when I called my tenant to see if he was there he was and let me speak to him. I was so upset, I told him to leave. I was totally shocked by Guardian's unprofessionalism, and unfair treatment of loyal customers. Needless to say I will NEVER use Guardian Pest Control again and will advise other property owners of my bad experience. I agree with others that the office staff is not as courteous as the technicians. We had a mouse infestation a few months back- called guardian to come check it out, and they place about 12 bait boxes around our house/garage/basement. Mice are supposed to take the bait back to nests and it poisons/dries them out. Waited about two weeks as instructed, but still had same amount of activity if not more. Called guardian, technician came out and confirmed that the mice had not touched one single block of bait. (He had to open the boxes to check). So he replaced them all with different flavor. For about a month after that, still had activity throughout our house. Called guardian again- technician came and said only a couple of the blocks were even barely touched, so he changed them out again. We asked if we would be charged for that visit since it wasn't proving very effective, and his response was, "I have no idea, I don't know how the office works, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you," In desperation we placed our own traps all over, including some bait boxes I found at Walgreens for $2 a piece, with clear lids, so I could see if mice were eating the poison blocks. Shortly thereafter, we noticed the bait boxes from Walgreens had been gnawed at, and now about another month later, we haven't seen any activity. I'm not saying that it was definitely the Walgreens boxes, but... We just got a call about an outstanding balance from guardian, so we went ahead and called and paid the bill, explaining to the woman that we had never received a paper bill, the technician made it sound like we wouldn't need to pay, and the services had not really been super effective- as confirmed by two different technicians. She basically got snippy and defensive, and chastised us for not reading the fine print of the invoice which states that we must remit payment after services, and that several months of aftercare are recommended to see results. It was just plain rude. We didn't have a problem paying that last bill, but she tried to make us feel like idiots for not paying it sooner. Some customer service training might be in order for the office staff. read more

I had bees in my house and was very concerned that they were multiplying by the days. I called Guardian and they stated they had normal official hours but we're currently closed and would contact me as early as 730am the next day. They did just that and set me up to have someone come out and take care of the problem. A gentleman named Michael came promptly at 2 when they said there would be someone sent. As a first time home owner I have never had to deal.with pest control but was very pleased with the prompt and professional service. Called this company because I heard a noise in bedroom upon my return from traveling out of the country. Thought they would be good. The tech (Michael) told me I had a roof mice infestation. "I have good news for you, it is roof mice infestation". Of course, I permitted him to do the work to the tune of $165.00. Three visits later the automatic air freshener was found. It was the culprit. Called Orkin after first visit from Guardian. He took pictures of my attic and stated "You do not have mice in your attic. Did he show you evidence?" My answer was "No". I drove to their office and explained the situation to the secretary. She said she understood and would have Michael call me. That did not happen. Instead, Nathan called and stated no partial refund would be given. I said for the benefit of good customer relations, something was due. I was not rude at the office nor talking with Nathan on the phone. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN! read more

I've used Guardian's service twice in the past and was pretty happy, which is why I decided to use them again. This time was a completely different story. After getting our home treated they gave us a 30 day warranty, for which, we could call back during that time if we continued to see bug activity. We did see activity during the 30 days and made the decision to call them. Ironically, our intent to call them fell on the same day they decided to call us. In their opinion, they prompted us to request the warranty service since they called us first. They actually said we should have called on the 25th day of the 30 day warranty in order to keep the warrenty valid. That is the most illogical thing I've heard. So instead of looking at their records to see that I've spent several hundred dollars with them and that the cost of coming back out to treat my home (which would have been a minimal cost) was worth it since I'm already comfortable spending money with them. This is typical of small businesses who don't understand the value of a customer and the impact of good customer service. Throw in the reach of the internet and Guardian will never know the number of lost customers. I personally will never use or recommend them to anyone, especially after they rudely hung up the phone during a conversation. read more

Last summer I had a horrible problem with those big black carpenter ants they were all over my yard in my house they have even gotten got in my dishwasher it was bad I called several companies for an estimate which was very pricey and I would need to keep my dogs out of the yard and house and that was just not an option I called Guardian the gentleman that came out , his name was Mike T he was promptly on time which is a big issue with me the first one of three companies to send a representative out that showed up on time after assessing my problem we discuss the options of getting rid of the ants he recommended a product that was safe for pets and humans we scheduled an appointment for him to come back which again he was probably on time very professional he took care of the problemThe price was great the service was outstanding the what's solved he told me if there was any more problems within 30 days they would come out and re-sprayed for ants were gone and the service was amazing I would highly recommend them to anyone with any sort of bug problem which I have and will continue to do so I highly recommend this company and if you're lucky enough to get Mike T you are getting a bonus plan!
