    Framed Diploma
    Fraser B.

I wanted to have my diploma framed, and when I went back to a place in lafayette that I had used previously, the owner was so rude to me I decided to try Andrew at the Orinda Frame Shop. So happy with the decision I made. It turned out great, definitely go for the museum quality glass it's worth it!! Andrew was so nice and stayed after hours for me to pickup the frame which I thoroughly appreciated. He wrapped it for me as I wasn't sure if I had a spot in my current place to put it up, but it looked so good I couldn't resist and hung it anyway!

Orinda Frame is a phenomenal business! Andrew is such a thoughtful and patient craftsman, who is understanding of people and art. Not to mention he has incredible taste. I have an affinity for midcentury prints, and I am also VERY picky when it comes to framing. I know how difficult it can be to find someone you trust, and how emotional it can be to hand over a personal artifact or work you admire to a framer. Not everyone will take the time to brainstorm with you, or have the creative vision to really dive into the meaning of the art, or the intention behind framing the object.. but Andrew and Orinda Frame DOES! He took a precious Frank Stella print, that had been wet-mounted onto canvas and tucked away for fifty years, and brought it to life! When I saw the results, I was floored by how gorgeous it looks, and I know that it's all thanks to Andrew and Orinda Frame.

I brought Andrew a precious hand drawn piece of art whose frame had broken, and he suggested the perfect frame and glass to replace them. He did a fantastic job and the artwork is even more beautiful than before. Andrew works quickly and is a great communicator, plus his shop is a lot of fun to visit (ask about the cat!) I highly recommend supporting this wonderful local business and artisan.

After a number of years, during which the former owner JUST left -- I mean LEFT -- Orinda Frame.... empty, empty, with unfinished jobs....the landlord finally foreclosed. Now Andrew has taken over. He's young, not a lot of capital, but he's a great guy, got the experience in framing.....and would love your business. I dropped by recently and had a picture to frame, and he did a GREAT job. A present for my wife, Sandy Anderson, whom I call Tiger... and she loved the framing and the picture. So, go to Orinda Frame and see ANDREW. SHOP LOCAL. Near Orinda Safeway. Next to Village Barber, BELOW, next level down, from Orinda McCaulou's. A GREAT JOB. Dave Anderson, 47 years in Orinda

Rodolfo truly is a joy to work with and is so knowledgable about his craft. Couldn't have pictured (love a good pun) working with anyone else for the first framed piece in our son's nursery. While at a community holiday fare, we bought a super cool piece of art from a local vendor of a map of El Cerrito which includes my husband's work site. It's playful, colorful, and full of joy. After utilizing the Yelp app to find a framing company close by, we found Artistic Picture Framing. After meeting the crew in-person, we knew we were in the right hands. We worked with Rodolfo on choosing the right colors for the piece and chatted about becoming parents, the nursery we were building, and the magic we were hoping to encompass and build around from this staple piece. He captured truly what we were looking for at an affordable rate. Looking forward to utilizing this service for future art, so happy with the outcome!

I had 7 pieces of art that I wanted to update the matting for, some with multiple openings in one frame. Moreover, I have been to 3 framers for a very special custom piece and never went through with the order because of poor designs and awful customer service. Devondre did what they couldn't due in 15 minutes and I gladly paid $600 for this one special piece. From selling me a few quick ready mades, redesigning mats for pieces I already have, to custom work, I got 8 pieces completed in an hour. Thank you Devondre, you have a new regular customer in me.

While the final result was decent, getting there involved a series of careless mistakes, lack of attention to detail, and poor communication. The project manager and foreman consistently over-promised and under-delivered, missing promised dates without informing us and often being unresponsive. The foreman was competent when present, but he was frequently pulled away to other jobs, leading to a lack of supervision and quality control. This caused us to spend a lot of time supervising the crew ourselves to ensure they didn't make careless mistakes, which felt like the opposite of the "trust" they claim to build. Some of the mistakes were basic but significant. They hooked up our new toilet to hot water, installed door trim out-of-level so that we are now unable to install doors, and did sloppy tile work that we had to ask them to begrudgingly redo. When issues arose, they often tried to fix things hastily, for example trying to fix the hot-water-toilet screw up by installing a flexible sink hose behind drywall instead of proper piping. Even the installation of a pocket door frame had to be redone from scratch after drywall had gone up, because the crew hadn't followed manufacturer instructions and left half the screws sitting on the floor. Throughout the project, we found ourselves having to step in and correct things or remind them to finish tasks they promised, which was both frustrating and time-consuming. By the end, we did not trust them at all to do things properly. Despite the challenges, there were a few positives. The interior designer they included with the project was fantastic, and they stuck to the original budget without adding surprise costs, except for one reasonable change order. Overall they are genuinely nice people in general and were not trying to rip us off. They did try to fix the problems we identified. However, these few good points didn't make up for the overall lack of quality control and communication, which is why we cannot recommend Rhino Builders.

I found Tom responsive, honest, very easy to work with, willing to address issues that arose, and much more pleasant to work with than any contractor we've worked with previously. Jason who on was on site with the project was focused, considerate, detail-oriented, dependable, and trust worthy. Instead of a polite correction or guidance, the owner abruptly stormed out from the back and shouted "WHOA WHOA WHOA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"--startling both of us. My wife apologized immediately and tried to explain we weren't aware there was a specific process, but that didn't stop him from continuing to raise his voice and snatching the poster from her hands. He then gave us an unnecessarily condescending lecture about how "it's really just common sense." Even after my wife apologized again and said she would remember for next time, he kept going. His tone was rude, patronizing, and completely disproportionate to the situation. We decided to leave without buying anything because we simply didn't want to be treated that way. To the owner: if you don't want customers touching merchandise, that's completely understandable--but then clearly post signs asking people not to handle items without assistance. Don't assume people know your process, and definitely don't talk down to them when they make a simple mistake. Your behavior was unprofessional, and it ruined what should have been a simple, pleasant shopping experience. We won't be returning, and we sincerely hope others are treated with more basic courtesy and respect than we were.
