Having our chairs done at Howard's Upholstery was a fantastic experience. The workmanship was impeccable, the speed at which they were able to deliver the finished product was great, the fabrics are beautiful and the service was the best I can remember anywhere. I'm not a relative and I'm not getting paid, I really mean it. Beginning with Jannine's follow up and patience with us, welcoming us into the workshop and using her design experience to help me find exactly what I needed, to Chuck's way of making you feel like you've been there before many times, we were really impressed. Chuck was also very generous with us (I won't say how but you'd have been elated, as we were). The work they did was for our indoor barstools and dining room chairs and they look beautiful! I have a couple of patio chairs they reupholstered for me. Everyone asked me why not buy new ones. The cost would have been the same. But I didn't want new ones these were my moms and they were still in good condition the sun just ruined their fabric. Howard's went above and beyond making my chairs look new. I see these positive reviews however my experience today was quite different. It appeared I was an inconvenience for stopping by for a quote to reupholster 8 cushions. Quote "im very busy and you have no appointment " My response, didn't know i needed one! Then reluctantly said $500.00 per cushion. I've learned enough to know if the owner gives you the feeling they don't want your business, leave. So I did! Shame because i have high end, designer furniture that I need upholstered, but not here. With all of these positive reviews, I can only assume I was not the right color . How could an owner be so bothered.? The worst Ive ever been treated. Very, very rude and not a nice man. I am beyond impressed with how Chuck and Jeanine helped restore my father-in-laws dining room chairs. The padding was soooo worn out and now they feel brand new and so much more secure then when they were brand new(from PB!) brought them home and gave them some leather conditioning myself. Howard's upholstery did a terrific job replacing old worn slings of the Tropitone Garden swivel chairs for my Mom. They had a wide selection of fabrics to choose from and finished four slings and put them onto the frames. As Chuck and Janine watched how difficult it was to dislodge the chairs from the backseat of my Mom's car, when the chairs were finished, they graciously offered to deliver the chairs to her home. Not only were they nice to deal with, they were more than nice and their price for their workmanship was very reasonable. I have very high standards and needed my outdoor furniture cushions updated. I went to a couple upscale places in my hometown of Lafayette but could tell these storefronts only added another layer of cost as they were sending the work to someone else. What I needed was to go a shop and talk to a person who knows how to do the work, discuss various options and see what the result would look like (i.e., do a prototype) before I changed all my cushions. This turned out to be a great approach because Chuck actually does the work! He did the prototype and made it better than the original. He was extremely helpful and made my cushions better than new. And he loves what he does. And when someone loves their craft...it shows in the result. And another thing...AFFORDABLE! To give an accurate review, I waited a few months to see how my cushions would hold up. They are terrific. During recent parties, my friends compliment me on how comfortable my cushions are...and these are kept outside in the heat/sprinklers, not kept inside. My cushions are as good as the day I got them back from Howards. Importantly, the front office manager is diligent too. She is a great communicator and kept me in the loop on all levels. Very personable. I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Howards. I wish I could give them higher than 5 stars. read more

Both Chuck and Jannine are great to work with. I had the inside of 2 cushions replaced and so happy with the new foam. One cushion needed major work as it was 2 inches to long for chair and that was fixed too. Both the couch and chair were never comfortable even when new and now they are AWESOME. We just picked up our antique ladderback chair. Chuck and his partner did an amazing job. The houndstooth fabric was matched perfectly. The old antique had to be taken apart to be upholstered. The workmanship at Howards is the best I've ever experienced. We chose a very difficult chevron style pattern for the upholstering of our outdoor furniture on June 14. Every stitched edge matches up, and incredibly, so does every covered button. It's like he was tailoring a $5,000 suit. Chuck Walker, the owner and craftsman of Howard's, took somewhat longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait. He is so busy helping satisfied clients, he's promising work out 6 - 8 weeks. He worked the Labor Day weekend to get our chairs finally done, and to us, that was above and beyond. We received raves from our dinner guests. They use the best Sunbrella material and stuffing/padding that won't rot or retain water. To us, he's the only game in town. The chairs are gorgeous and are good for many long years of beautiful use.
