I haven't had a massage for a long time and decided to give this place a chance. I asked for a deep tissue massage and paid for a deep tissue massage. The facility is lovely, wonderful ambiance. I went to a room that is for couples. I was disappointed that the massage was nothing like I've had before at other massage places. The man sat in a stool and applied a lot of oil, would slide his hands up and down my skin. Like a petting motion. The entire massage was like that. I didn't feel any different after the massage and found myself quite disappointed. I got an email from Origins reminding me to leave a review. I responded asking to speak to someone about my experience and after a week, no response. I proceeded to email the email address on the website and gave my feedback. No response after 3 weeks I didn't feel like that was a deep tissue massage. The gentleman was sitting on a chair for 90% of the massage. Maybe he had a long day already. read more

I've been coming here for almost two decades. Erica who was the best masseuse they had left because of management issues and there has been a ton of management turnover since. Decided to book again years later for their open house special. Without a doubt, everything is clean and pristine, with a comfortable waiting area and tea room for after your massage which is lovely. But I just had the worst deep tissue massage if you would even call it that; that had me feeling more anxious upon leaving than coming in. I specifically asked for an extremely strong masseuse weeks ago, because I need a ton of pressure (an 8 out of 10). The receptionist who booked me said it wouldn't be a problem repeatedly because I stressed the point. Ive been getting massages once a week for 7 years and have never had a sizable male masseuse care so little about validating pressure after I had to ask him SIX times to go stronger. He'd start for 10 seconds then go back to a 5/10 firmness. Never once asked if that was ok for me. His technique was not suited for deep tissue at ALL. Is was more of a Swedish massage with a lot of rubbing up and down vs getting into any trigger points or knots he found (and ignored). His strengths were in foot reflexology (which he chose to do before my head and neck, (gross), and the ten second head massage. He was clearly sick and wasn't wearing a mask, and I had to listen to the full blown conversation of the customer and masseuse next door because the separators don't run up to the ceiling and the spa music was so low. At checkout they didn't bother asking how it went proactively (which echoes the lack of enthusiasm by masseuse). So I just unloaded half of these details on them given that was the most disappointing massage experience in my life. They kindly comped me a certain percent off (thank you). This was hopefully a one off experience because I can't imagine they'd still be in business otherwise. read more

My friend and I went today for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. It was easy to book and the facility was very nice and clean. However, the massage was just ok for both of us. I didn't feel that it was truly deep tissue and my friend also had the same experience. I asked my massage therapist for more pressure s few times. She did put more pressure at some points but it wasn't consistent and I felt overall it was just a mostly relaxing massage which was disappointing because I came in with some areas that I really needed help with. Decided to go in after my workout to the Arlington location. My girlfriend just joined the Alexandria location which we been to plenty of times . She wanted me to enjoy a massage since we both frequent getting them and why not signed up. I called around 1:30pm to schedule a 2:30pm hour massage with my 1 hour gift certificate. At no point did the massage therapist put lotion or oil and when he got to my neck he started digging with his nail and I expressed my discomfort. He continued and I kept feeling his nail dig in my skin. After my massage kept feeling like I was bleeding. It wasn't until I got home and took off my shirt I saw what this so called professional did. Worst experience ever and I will be contacting the better business bureau and I already emailed info@originsthaispa.com Please stay away from this location. My go-to spa for massages in the area! I highly recommend seeing Lisa-- her deep tissue massages work magic. She carefully listens to areas I'm hoping to focus on and avoid, checks in to make sure she's using the right amount of pressure, and does an amazing job relieving knots and tension in my shoulders. For being in a city, Origins does a great job of keeping the spa atmosphere. When you step in, it's dark and quiet, there are large, comfortable seating areas, and there is plentiful tea and water. This was my first massage and Amber did an excellent job making me feel comfortable and relaxed. From start to finish it was amazing and I left feeling very calm and pain-free. I got the Thai Euro massage (60 minutes) and it was the perfect length and hit all of my pain points with the perfect amount of pressure. The massages here are ok - totally depends on the masseuse you get. It's not any better than other places. But don't get trapped into their membership. And the policies here are crazy inflexible and the only way you can change appointments is by calling them. If you want to make a change to your appointment 24 hours ahead of time (their requirement), and nobody picks up the phone (I've had days where I've called 10x and nobody picks up) or they are closed, they will change you for the appointment. They won't allow you to make changes to your appointments, only bookings. Thai Origins needs to get with the rest of the world and move this all online. They make it very difficult to adjust appointments and have no flexibility to the point of it being nonsensical (eg, I've tried to move a previous appointment due to Covid exposure and they still wanted to charge me- did you want me to come in sick?). To respond to the comment below: yes I called between work meetings starting in the morning and throughout the day and every time I called, the line was busy. By the time I called at the end of the day you were closed and there was no way to move my appointment, since you don't have an online management system (only to book but not change). You must've had a pretty busy day but it's very frustrating when you make it very difficult to change appointments. To threaten to blacklist a customer just bc I wrote an honest review about the experience I had with your reservation system is appalling and speaks to how you treat customers, especially since I've continued to go to your business for years. read more

The receptionist was friendly and did everything with a smile (yes, I know she was smiling under her mask). We had Jessica and Linda as our masseuses. They were great! I had a prenatal massage while my husband had a deep tissue massage. I have zero complaints. The room had peaceful music playing and I loved that our room was far from the reception area. They massaged us for the full hour and made us feel so relaxed. I highly recommend them. When I said something, he adjusted his "technique" to rubbing circles around my body. Two days later, I am still in pain in my neck and shoulders from his work. They have automatic hand sanitizers plus disposable masks available too! I did a 90 minute deep tissue with Mary. She was amazing. I just feel bad she had to undo all my knots on my back and neck. But I feel soooo much better! You have the option to have them do your massage with or without gloves. I was ok with her not wearing gloves as long as they washed their hands. Since no one at the Arlington location had the courtesy to respond to my direct communication about my dissatisfaction with the front desk staff, I posted on Yelp since they are so concerned about their reputation on Yelp. In response to my review, I received a response (sort of) from management in which they reiterated their policy. No apology for the rude treatment. No appreciation for over seven years of membership.
