Yes, I work out but I would have expected them to last longer than 5 hours. When I called the person who answered first said "it's your fault what did you do." I really enjoy the service I get with Rachel but this place overbooks their techs knowingly and don't think twice doing so. I have never ever booked an appointment to get service with a particular individual and 1/3 times, been told shes too busy to serve me. I am not sure if the software they use to book these appointments is faulty or outdated however, they ask you to make an appointment and supposedly the business then "approves" these. Yet twice in the last few months the person I book with days in advance, is too busy to serve me. If I hadn't spent 20+ minutes walking over or spent $5 + parking in Clarendon, I would have just left. The crazy part too is the busy doesn't apologize for this - I saw someone being sat with my nail tech I requested just 30 minutes after I sat down so obviously they knew I wouldn't have time to be sat in-between but instead of calling me ahead of time or asking me to reschedule, they just force me to get my nails done with someone else. The person who handled my nails this time around did not have plans to soak my feet (like all those around me) until I specifically asked her why my feet didn't get a soak and my nails messed up within an hour when I got home. Overall - if Rachel has time for you, service is great. However, since this place obviously overbooks and people put up with it, they continue to get away with this bad behavior. read more

Update: as you all know I was not happy with my first visit to JVA. Fortunately, the manager sent me a message shortly after my review was posted. She was very kind and apologized for the poor service I received and asked me to come back so they could fix my pedicure. I wasn't able to return for two weeks. They still honored the redo! The new tech did an amazing job. I even decided to get my gel manicure done. My mani/pedi turned out great! Overall I'm very happy and JVA and will definitely go back. I called Friday morning to make an appointment. The location was convenient and it's a lovely establishment. I can't say I felt welcome when I walked in tho. I never feel welcomed when I'm not greeted. Usually, I would take my $ elsewhere (if I was treated less than how other customers are treated) but I was in a bind so I focused on the high rating. My appointment was for a Gel mani/pedi. One of my fingers had gotten cut right before my appointment so I just got the pedicure. I was happy with my nails when I left Friday evening at 6... By Monday afternoon my happiness turn to annoyance. Two of my toenails had chipped. Now I dont know about y'all but paying $60 for a gel pedicure should guarantee they last at least a month, right? My last pedicure lasted a month and a half with no chips. Needless to say, I will return to fix the chips but I doubt I will return after that. I tried this nail salon for the first time because it was conveniently nearby, and I was grateful they were able to take me in the same day without an appointment. I originally went in for an acrylic set but was advised to try builder gel instead. I decided to give it a shot, but unfortunately, I wasn't happy with the results. Some of the nails were uneven, and a couple of days later, one broke off. During the appointment, one of the tips actually came off while being filed. Instead of cleaning off the old glue and fixing it properly, the tech just re-glued it, which made me worry it wouldn't hold--and it didn't. Needed to update my review because I was devastated when Bon left JVA but have started seeing Sandy and she is absolutely amazing! She is meticulous with my nails and they NEVER chip or break. I'm pretty good about getting my nails done every 3 weeks but honestly could go longer, they hold up that well when she does them. Service today was unfortunately very poor. I got a simplicity manicure and was cut twice. Then the nail tech knocked the open bottle of red nail polish onto the floor, and it splattered on my white sneakers and blue jeans. It mostly came off my sneakers but will not be coming out of the jeans. I could tell the nail tech felt bad and didn't know how to handle the accident so instead of apologizing she just said "it's fine" and brushed it under the rug as if she hadn't just ruined my clothes. When she was done I still had smudges of red paint on my fingers and I had to ask her to remove them. Overall my nails look fine, not great, and sadly my jeans are ruined. I went to JVA for the first time yesterday and it is definitely one of the nicer places in the Area. I saw Bon, who I have been working with for over a year. He recently moved to JVA from a different salon, but he is fantastic so when he told me he was going somewhere else of course I followed him. He has great customer service, and always does an impeccable job. I see him every three weeks for a pedicure and SNS manicure and he always makes sure I'm happy with my nails before I leave. Everyone else at JVA is very friendly! Though I have only been there once almost all their employees greeted me. I followed my girl Thuy here from her old salon because a) I'm loyal and b) she's the best manicurist I've ever had (between Boston, Baltimore, and Arlington) and the best SNS tech I have had since I started using it (I've tried 3 other salons in the area and at least half a dozen technicians). The salon is in its infant stages--but in the two months since they opened they have replaced all the pedicure stations, the drying station, all the chairs...new lighting. It has been a night and day transformation. Parking can be a little tricky in the area. Clarendon Ave gets busy, but you can generally find something on the side streets. Also, the price for gel manicures has gone up from $38 to $40 (yes that's a whopping $2). Susan M. is clearly not very good at math. That ain't 40% any way you spin it. Karen, I mean Susan, probably doesn't tip at restaurants either because "it's not her job to pay the servers wages." SNS manicures are $50. More complicated stuff gets up to $75. read more

I get SNS dip powder manicure for my nails. The red nails are how they look right after getting done. The purple are after 18 full days - right before I got them redone. Even almost 3 weeks later, they looked PERFECT with no chips - survived the gym, cooking, working at a restaurant, and my general chaotic lifestyle.
