I've eaten a lot of pizza over the years, and Original Geno's has become one of my favorite spots in Tempe. The new ownership has done a fantastic job cleaning up the restaurant while keeping the things people have always loved. The place is noticeably cleaner, the service is friendly, and the food has been consistently excellent every time I've been in. The New York-style pizza has a great crust with fresh toppings, and if you're hungry, you have to check out their massive 24-inch pizzas or the Ginormous Slice. The cheesesteaks are outstanding too, and the wings and cinnamon breadsticks are definitely worth adding to your order. What really stands out is that the owners genuinely care about their customers. They're constantly making improvements, listening to feedback, and it shows in both the quality of the food and the overall experience. I was doing some work in Tempe around lunchtime and was very hungry so I stopped into OG's. I ordered the OG cheesesteak. It was average and pretty small size for $15 and frankly, less than average in quality. Soft roll out of a plastic bag and not sure of the quality of the meat. It wasn't horrible, but I would not order one and would definitely try somewhere else for sandwiches if that is the bread they use. I haven't tried the pizza so can't rate it on that. The sandwiches are ok but they could be better . For the pizza there are several flavor options for the crust but not for the sandwiches . If they used a better quality cold cut the sandwiches would be top tier . It all just taste bland and messy . The Italian is ok but it could be better . I have called before and suggested that they use Boars Head Brand cold cuts but I think they get the poorest quality and cheapest cold cuts available . We stopped by for lunch and ordered off of the lunch specials menu, super good deal!! I got 1/2 a turkey sub, chips, and a drink for less than $10 and then my boyfriend got the foot long slice. Only comment I have is that the pizza is on the thinner side, but as long as you have a fork a knife there is no problem. Both were super good and we will definitely be coming back. The food I ordered was good but here is the issue. The place is dirty, it has a restroom but the women's has been closed the men's has no lock on the door and no soap to wash your hands. The pizza was very similar to Chuck E. Cheese. The pepperoni is cooked to perfection. Where it lacks is the lack of sauce if it has more sauce and was still able to maintain that crust this would be higher. My husband and I have been getting Geno's as dinner after we work long nights for a while now. Today was extra special. There is a new gentlemen working there. I think his name might be Gio? Once my Togo order was ready he ran it over to me. I asked if there was vinegar sauce in the bag and he said it should be but he would get me more. I said it wasn't necessary whatever was in my bag was enough. I walked out and he ran up to my car with two vinegars and said he would feel so bad if I got home and it wasn't in there. I was blown away that he cared enough to make sure my older was right and went above and beyond to do so. In today's world this isn't common. This small gesture really meant alot to me. while my boyfriend and I were sitting eating our pizza a cockroach crawls infront of our table on the floor. Then while eating we hear this loud ZAP noise and see there is an elect fly killer above the trash can. Then I look around and notice flys everywhere in the place. My boyfriend went into the bathroom to wash his hands and he said there were multiple cockroaches in the bathroom. Then he went up to grab a Togo box for the pizza and the worker noticed the roach before he noticed my boyfriend, when the worker gabbed the size box we need he shakes the box to make sure there isn't any roaches inside. This is my go to pizza joint, and normally for their price i would say they are beyond 5 stars. i come back just about every week but man the pizza was trash tonight and i'm leaving this review to let the owners/managers/workers/who-ever know that they need to train who ever is making pizza the proper way to do it. The pizza was a mess: - Toppings: The middle 66% of the pizza had toppings but nothing else, after the first 3-5 bites of a slice i was legit having a cheese pizza, like what the hell. - Cheese: there was way too much, it was sticking and dragging, it seemed like there was probably triple the cheese then usual. - Breading: my crust was not flavored like asked, on top the bread was much fluffier than normal, typically genos makes a thinner-than-most standard crust (not thin crust), the pizza seemed smaller in diameter than normal too and really i think the pizza maker just didn't take the time to spread the dough enough. - Sauce: For the pizza i received it needed more sauce to go with the bread and cheese, BUT i think the sauce amount is the usual which works when the other portions are normal. I'll be coming back in a week or two and will update if things changes. Otherwise I don't want a refund, I just want my pizza to taste good again, Genos usually offers a much better pizza than others, and tonight I was disappointed to say the least. Please let me know about this problem. ASU coupon clearly says that you need to show the coupon for 5$ one. The other coupons say that they need to be presented. All employees understand this except one. He says all other employees are at fault. Other employees understand what is written on the coupon and ask for ID and to just see the coupon. Best pizza I've had in Arizona by far. I got a slice of the Hawaiian & an order of chicken bacon ranch fries, the pizza was great & had a lot of flavor it was also huge! The fries had great flavor & was wide cut, the only thing I'd ask different is for the fries to be a little crunchier & more ranch, other than that it was amazing! I loved this place. Ordered here once a week probably. I ordered through Grubhub and they sent me a raw pizza ( along with 50 bucks of other good food) the dough was literally just soft dough. I HATE calling Grubhub because they make me feel like I'm lying and I just wanted my pizza. So I called Genos to just have them replace it. And they wouldn't call back for days and eventually wouldn't help! And told me to call Grubhub, even though now It's too late to call Grubhub because it's been 24 hours. Both Grubhub and the restaurant has found a way to take advantage of the customer and this business is greedily on the bandwagon. They lost a 50 dollar a week customer- so their bad.
