This is my first Yelp review. I've gotten a lot out of others' experiences, so I thought I would jump in by starting with a business I like a lot, and cover the ones I don't as much at a later date. I may also edit this to include the full name of my nail tech after I get her permission. I don't understand people who write reviews who loved their experience, praise the staff, knew the prices before their appointment began, then go on to COMPLAIN about said prices and deduct THREE STARS to boot? Ok, MAYBE one less star might be in order if one normally frequents businesses that don't pay their employees as much, or invest in the workers' education, or spend money to create a welcoming atmosphere. For some of us, time spent with a nail tech or hairdresser is not just about the nails or hair, the tangible, it's about the whole experience, including the intangible. I grew tired of sitting in silence across from a nail tech ("Mai") who couldn't speak English well enough to hold simple conversation with me or anyone else. Week after week, month after month, I showed up with the other lemmings, hoping to relax after a long day of work and willing to spend money to do so. Instead, I was treated like a number. I get enough of that everywhere else without PAYING for the "privilege" of being ignored. Remember that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine thought the Asian employees at the local salon were gossiping about her in their first language? She was so irked by the possibility she had George's father come in as a spy since he spoke Korean? As it turned out, they WERE having rude "fun" at her expense, all while smiling and acting completely innocent! The show itself was VERY funny, but that plot line bothered me immensely. Was "Mai" taking MY money and laughing at ME? Was I Milwaukee's version of Elaine? I didn't think so, but there was NO WAY to be certain I wasn't unwittingly providing the local Thai community with some chuckles. For awhile, I questioned whether I was racist because I was so annoyed my nail salon didn't make their employees speak English in front of their customers. I finally came to the conclusion that it was THEIR problem, NOT mine. Spending money at a salon that employed nail techs who didn't even care enough to speak English to me for that HOUR I sat there every week was, quite simply, stupid. Finally, I decided my time and happiness were worth more. Almost IMMEDIATELY I felt better. Reclaiming those sixty minutes every week was like giving myself an emotional raise. On average, I spend a LITTLE bit more at Originails than I did at my former salon, but now I MAKE WAY MORE money at work because I am happier, more focused. Even my boss goes to Originails now! My family noticed the change in my attitude right away. I come home from my appointments happy. EVERYBODY wins! Okay, the nuts and bolts of the review: Originails offers all styles of nails, massages, and waxing. Apparently they have been winning awards for their nail art for a LONG time, and it shows. I have NEVER seen such great fingernail art performed outside of LA, New York, or Miami. When you consider they are the ones who SET the bar for others to FOLLOW, their prices are VERY reasonable. It's all a matter of perspective. EVERY employee, not just my nail tech "C", treated me like I was the most important person to them the very first time I walked in. There is a good mood that hits you the second you open their door. That says a LOT about the owner, Melanie. She is beautiful, funny, hard working, and goes out of her way to make sure you know you are appreciated and your nails look AMAZING.Good enough is NOT good enough to her. What more can you ask for? I have been going to Originails for almost two years now. The work that the women do in the salon is excellent. When I wanted cookie monster painted on my nails, they did it. When my friend wanted bride of chuckie nails done, they did those too. All of the women are extremely creative and friendly. They make your time at the salon worthwhile and definitely worth the money. I've only had a couple nails break in the time I have been with the salon and when that has happened, they are very accommodating to get me on the schedule to get the nail fixed. Not to mention, the massages are extremely wonderful. I can't wait to have another massage because it makes me feel revived, healthier, and motivated at the end. So if you are looking for a place to have a massage, pedicure, or your nails done and done RIGHT, then go to Originails. read more

I've been going to Melanie for probably 8-9 years. It all started with a gift certificat for some simple nail art. She does the best nail art I have seen in the Milwaukee area and every Monday after my nails everyone at work comes to my office to see the next great reveal. She has the best group of women working there you could ask for. It's like a great big coffee klutch. I've been getting massages there for the past couple of years and they are wonderful - so wonderful I've fallen asleep on the table. And if you want a facial she has an esthetician that will take your skin back years!!! They have a great line of skin and beauty products that I would recommend to all my friends, relatives, and coworkers. All in all - a great place in a great city run by great people!!! :) read more

I am not a salon/spa type person myself, but when it comes to special occasions, Originails is the place to go! It is centrally located and the artwork I have had done was amazing Ive had roses,polkadots, and plaid fingers and toes, pedicures are a must for those who have not had them! I still have not had a massage yet, but I know she is certified to do them on people who have had pacemakers and artificial valves put in, definatly my next plan of action! read more

I had a great experience with Anastasia at Orignaills. She not only was VERY educated in her profession but she took her time and educated me on my skin and what I can do to improve. You can tell that she loves her job and I did not feel like I was being sold anything which is my pet peeve when going for a relaxing spa treatment. I will certainly be back and I highly recommend her for both facials and waxes. read more

I have been coming to originails for over a year now and all of the staff are completely amazing. I've never had a bad experience and their craft work is always flawless. They do amazing nail art that I've never seen before and are extremely reasonable. They have late night hours and always try to accommodate if you need to get in for a nail emergency. I would never go to another salon after coming here! read more

After visiting other salons I would highly recommend Originails. I enjoyed the friendly service where people actually talk (converse) to you and the cleanliness of the salon was top notch. They were able to tell me that the products that were used from other salons were actually banned products and dangerous for my nails. After a recommendation from a friend, I went to get a facial from Anastasia. She was gentle yet thorough, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. My skin looked fantastic when she finished. Anastasia is the first Dermalogica expert in the state. Her facials and skin services are amazing. She is highly educated and has won the Best of Milwaukee esthetician award. Jessica provides expert massage services, and Melanie is known for her award winning nail art. All this is available in one little unassuming Hales Corners salon. Fantastic! read more
