    Real Crab California Roll

Sushi / food was pretty reasonable. Went here around 5:30 dinner and it was pretty quiet. The restaurant is long and narrow haha. Service was fine it was just one waitress and one guy at the sushi bar. Had some sake too. Overall, Not bad for the area?

Holy fish this place has the best Chirashi bowl I've seen in the tri-valley! I didn't have high expectations since there are so many underwhelming ones around but the moment I saw it... I knew it was going to be some good stuff. My goodness it was amazing.

I was craving sashimi so I visited this place. Not a big place and it was not busy during dinner time. I wanted chicken karaage, but they ran out. Got the friend pork dumplings instead. They were good, but nothing to write home about. I would have ordered draft beer if they had any. They were accommodating as I wanted to substitute salmon with hamachi in their salmon oyakodon. I know it makes sense to have salmon as the sashimi, but I like hamachi better so I asked for it. The quality of the fish was good. The bowl was not big enough, but at least it was fresh. I may come back again as they have a 3-small bites, 9-piece nigiri, soup and dessert menu for $79. However, based on my appetite, that may not be enough for me either.

I was looking for a sushi restaurant nearby and found this place from its great reviews on yelp - so glad I did! It's a small restaurant in a strip mall run by a family who was so friendly! The sushi chef himself was very passionate about the fish - we did the 10 piece nigiri omakase that was 60$ so reasonable especially since he makes each fish unique and with sauce/toppings. We got repeats of the salmon belly (their specialty) and shima aji. Come here for high quality fish despite limited menu - it was delicious! They also gave us homemade red bean dessert which they try to do when they have enough availability for people doing the full specialty omakase. It was such a great find and I'd come anytime I'm in the area!

We visited Origin Sushi for a late-night sushi stop. It was one of the few open a bit later into the evening on a weekday. Service? 10/10!! Our server was the sweetest. Super proactive and checked in on us regularly. It was empty when we came in, but the restaurant filled up rather quickly. There's only a few tables and it's a bit of a tight space, so keep this in mind especially if you have a larger group. Between 3, we shared about 4 rolls. Everything was delicious! I forget the name, but my favorite was the one with mango, unagi, and salmon. The ingredients tasted fresh, but the food just took a bit to come out. It was a really good experience overall, I'd definitely come back when the craving for sushi returns! :)

I love the sushi selection here. The owners Ray & Kay are super nice. They offered us a fried chicken wings dish and an order of sushi to try. Ray, the chef, explained the fish on each sushi to us thoroughly. It was quite an educational experience. The fish is pretty fresh and sweet. Most of the fish are flavorful. Kay was very helpful and attentive. My party enjoyed the dinner here. It was a nice dining experience. I will definitely come back for some quality sushi next time.

Everything about this sushi place was so cozy -- from their interior and menu. My friend and I wanted to meet up for dinner, which this was a perfect spot for a cute date night! Located next to Nikuya, Origin Sushi sits next to the right corner of the restaurant in the plaza. We were seated immediately and barely had to wait for anything. People even started to trickle in 20 minutes in and we never felt like service changed! Some things we noticed about this place was the overall cleanliness, cuteness of the cutlery, and freshness of the fish. The menu was also more on the smaller side, but had a special roll for everyone. A huge plus was how affordable it was like a special roll was $13-$16. There was even a tasting menu on your choice of fish like salmon and tuna for $22 that I would love to try... What we ordered: - Juliet Roll: named after our dearest friend LOL, very light and fresh - Flaming Roll: fresh and everything was cohesive from the avocado to the tuna!!! my fav - Pork Dumplings: great size for 2 people, juicy and crunchy om nom nom The people here were so nice and even offered free matcha cream with nuts on top! Lovely service and everything was quite delicious. A hidden gem for real.

Came here around 4:30pm, so it was empty. Went with my bestie right after the Pleasanton festival on Sunday. It was nice and clean inside. Food came out fairly quick since we were the only ones. Staff was friendly and attentive. We got the Sahsmi plate 10 piece, juliet roll, and baked hamachi roll. Sashimi plate was great. The fish was decent size and so fresh tasting. However, I wish the waitress told us what each fish is when they delivered it. Juliet roll was great. Loved salmon. Miso sauce was delicious. Baked hamachi roll was only okay. I liked the baked fish a lot, but i think they put too much cream cheese in the middle of it. It over powered the roll to me. My friend agreed as well. To the point where she was taking the a decent amount of cream cheese out before eating it.

I was happy to try this newly opened sushi restaurant. It's owned by the nicest family and the service was warm and attentive. It's a small, nicely decorated restaurant. The menu is simple and we tried a variety of dishes. My favorites were- Hamachi carpaccio-thick sliced hamachi topped with a slice of avocado Juliet Roll-salmon avocado and scallop topped with a sweet miso glaze. So good! Baja Chirashi-beautifully presented and the fish was very fresh Pork Noodles-delicious braised pork noodles. A must try! I'd definitely return!

Really good service, fresh fish. Weekends they have a chefs choice special. Great playlist too. All the Madonna please!

Came here on a Friday night. We were going to go to Nikuya, but saw that this sushi place was open. Quick look on Yelp and saw the high ratings. Decided to try it. Walked in and noticed the restaurant was completely empty. Decided to try it anyways. Restaurant feels new and clean. Chicken Karage 4/5: the chicken had some sugar sprinkled on it so you got a hint of sweetness before the crunch. Good and juicy. Hamachi Carpacio 3/5: this had a bit of a fishy taste to it. It was also topped with avocado which was different. Would not order this again. Salmon Nigiri 3.5/5: good, nothing special. Salmon Belly Nigiri 5/5: this was seared on the outside with light topping. This was the best of the sushi we ordered. Warrior Roll 3/5: this was just a California roll with unagi, mango and salmon on top. Was ok but nothing special. Tuna Tuna Roll 4/5: this was good. It was topped with a very sweet mango. My wife enjoyed this one. Overall, food was good. It was a bit odd that the restaurant was completely empty for a Friday night given the high ratings. I rate this a 3.5 stars. I will give it an official 4 star as the service was good.

The 49er roll and the Poki Roll were so good. The presentation was beautiful, the staff is so friendly and the service was very fast! Food was fresh and delicious! We will be back thank you for an amazing dinner !

    Salmon major
    Gentil N.

Great, friendly service from both the waitress and chef. I loved the salmon major - the fish was buttery and it was a lovely variety of salmon items at a reasonable price. Food came quickly and I could tell the chef put a lot of care into it! I would come again!

Does Origin offer katsu chicken on the menu?

I don't think so. Their menu is limited to sushi and sashimi and rolls. I don't recall chicken or beef on the menu.

I tend to shop nearby and have seen the restaurant but haven't been in the area during lunchtime until today. I did learn they also have lunch specials on Saturdays too, so I will be back with my husband next time. I walked in and ordered, and the lady was so nice and welcoming. My order was packed and ready to go without much of a wait, which was nice. It didn't take long, so it's very helpful for people on a time crunch. I got the 3 item bento box with katsu chicken, California roll, and sashimi. It also came with miso soup, salad, and rice. I got it to go, so I was happy the soup was included because I notice some restaurants don't always include soup on togo orders. The katsu chicken was light and seasoned nicely, and the katsu sauce tasted a little different than normal, so maybe it's freshly made. I wasn't a fan of the California roll only because I am not a fan of the whole roll chunks of imitation crab meat but it wasn't a full deal breaker. The sashimi tasted fresh with a nice, soft, buttery texture. I still think about their sashimi at times, it's up there with some of the best pieces of fish I've eaten.

My wife ordered sukiyaki and I ordered a 3 item bento box. I had gyoza, mixed tempura and chicken katsu with a salad, white rice and miso soup. I liked all three items in my bento: the gyoza didn't have a crispy bottom but good flavor, chicken katsu was tender with a nice deep fried coating and the tempura was fried nicely (light and crispy). My wife liked the flavor of the sukiyaki and the ingredients. My son's wife had a sashimi donburi with fresh fish and my son went with a three item bento beef teriyaki, mixed tempura and three piece nigiri. He said the Nigiri was fresh, tempura was fried nicely, not oily and the tempura was tasty. The Miso soup and salad were fresh and tasty. We will definitely go back. For a wide selection with fresh food and prepared after you order, give Kaki Sushi a try. Staff is very attentive.

The only difference is that they largely moved to just serving dine-in orders in plastic to-go boxes. Coming back here after so many years made me realize that this is the place where I think they do the Lion King roll the best. Almost every other place I've tried has a weird twist to their recipe. The restaurant setting was fairly plain, but I noticed that they offered a good amount of seating inside for dine-in guests. Was quoted 15-30 minutes online, but it was ready when I arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. Then I discovered that the order was wrong. I was given edamame by mistake, instead of egg rolls. No apology given, just confusion (one worker questioning another worker on why she would do that), but they assured me they would make the correct order and it would take 5 more minutes. In reality, I had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes, but at least they fixed the issue. Staff was friendly. Btw, the menu states that the egg rolls are made with a mix of veggies and meat. But these were filled with vegetables only, no meat. Taste was okay, and the eggroll wrapper was thicker than I'd prefer. I'm used to the king and queen eggroll spots where the product has more size and better flavor with a light and crispy exterior (I know plenty of these in the south bay). It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't get this again at Fat Fish Sushi. On the other hand, the lion king roll was really good, made with quality ingredients and prepared perfectly. Too bad it got cold since it was ready 15 minutes before the rest of my order.

And 8pc were only $40. Salmon rolls (salmon salmon) and (orange ocean) were both good. Nice citrus hit in orange ocean but doesn't overpower - salmon salmon roll had good crisp and umami from the fried skin. The sashimi platter was solid - nothing that blew my mind but it was pretty good quality fish, only minor complaint was it was cut into oddly shaped chunks and not consistent in texture between each bite Also they gave a LOT of plum wine, not skimpy at all!
