We checked our Origin Coffee during our day in Saranac Lake. When we got there, there was a large line out the door. It seemed to be moving, so we waited in it. The whole time we were at the restaurant, the line was persistent! We got a sweater weather latte, the breakfast burrito, and the biscuit sandwich. The latte was truly amazing, one of the best we've had in a long time. The breakfast burrito was similarly incredible (likely the best we've had on the east coast!). The biscuit fell a bit flat, but wasn't bad at all. I see why this place is highly rated, huge fan!

Cortado

Simply put, one of the best coffee places there is! Always look forward to starting my day with a perfectly made Cortado whenever I am in Saranac Lake. Friendly staff turning out excellent drinks with a smile, even when slammed!! Great breakfast/lunch menu is you need more than just coffee.

All three kinds of panini were delicious. It's so delicious that I recommend it. I went there three times in a week.

Sweater Weather Latte

Came here for coffee before our snow activity for the day. I got the sweater weather latte. It had maple, cinnamon, cardamon. It was a perfect warm drink for winter (or anytime really). sweet but not too sweet. Beautiful latte art as well. My fiance got the congo pour over. He said it was bold and delicious. Cute little place with a few tables. We dined in with our coffees and they brought them out in mugs. It wasn't crowded for 845am on a Saturday. Most people who came in seemed to be grab and go. Would definitely go back next time we're in town.

Hot oat milk and honey matcha

Stopped in for a light breakfast. Had honey & oat milk matcha and avocado toast. Both were very good. Hubby had a red eye (coffee w/shot of espresso). Limited seating and when a table did open up the party left their dishes on the table...maybe a sign reminding people to clear their own table would be helpful. Overall coffee, food, and service are very good and I would recommend.

Breakfast sandwich and smoothie

Cute coffee shop with a decent breakfast menu and space for seating. The biscuit breakfast sandwich was 10/10 delicious! Hot and fresh and the biscuit tasted homemade. The smoothie left something to be desired but everyone who got coffee was very happy!

Origin coffee and the kitchen

Great place for coffee and cozy drinks. The food is light breakfast fare prepared by a chef that knows flavor. Small dishes that fill the soul and hunger. Try the Carrot Coconut Bisque! They have wonderful gluten free options too.

A delightful coffee shop in the heart of Saranac Lake, Origin excels because it combines cheerful ambiance with quality food and drinks. Their oat matcha honey latte is among the better matchas I've ever had, and their vegan breakfast sandwich is good. My only complaint is that the vegan sandwich is only vegan if you remove mayo and cheese -- just take it all the way and start carrying vegan versions of those both! Their breads were very good; my sandwich was on sourdough, and my mom's had focaccia. They were fresh and not dry in the slightest. I appreciated how Origin had a couple of levels and diverse types of seating. The baristas were cool and knew what was up. They use Oatly. I can't say enough good things.

A beautiful coffee shop in downtown Saranac with so much fun seating options, a fun seasonal menu, and delicious lattes. This was one of the best lattes I've ever had - smooth and delicious! And the staff working the counter were so welcoming and friendly. The ambiance here is very inviting and I will definitely return!

Avocado & Egg on Gluten Free toast

I had a wonderful pour over with an amazing Avocado & Egg on Gluten Free Toast. The people were warm and helpful.

Avocado toast~

Fresh, tasty food. Great coffee and atmosphere. Small seating areas, so you may have to wait for a table. See my photo of yummy avocado toast! Artful and good.

Great location, food, and drink -- but really, this town needs a place to sit and chat after 3 p.m., and Origin closes at that time.

We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese. They were perfectly toasted and there was plenty of spreadable cream cheese. It made for a perfect light lunch. I don't eat eggs, so it did limit my options. If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

While I haven't had the opportunity to try the entire menu just yet, I can say confidently the home fries live up to the hype. I understand why they're called home fries because they reminded me of home. It looks like they're doing some renovation on the second floor, I wonder if that'll result in even more seating. If that's the case then it'll take this cafe to the next level.

Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar: A Lake Placid Essential…read more If you're looking for a coffee experience that matches the beauty of the Adirondacks, Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar is a must-visit. From the welcoming "a place upstate" Adirondack chair out front to the cozy, shingle-sided exterior, this spot perfectly captures that rustic, high-peaks aesthetic. But it's the quality of the brew that truly sets it apart. The Espresso The espresso at Capisce is a masterclass in balance. It's rich and full-bodied with a velvety crema that hints at the care put into every pull. You won't find any bitterness here--just a smooth, complex shot that serves as the perfect foundation for their signature drinks. The Lattes Whether you need to warm up after a chilly morning at the lake or cool down after a mountain bike ride, their lattes are top-tier: Hot Lattes: The milk is steamed to a perfect micro-foam consistency--silky, sweet, and light. It blends beautifully with the espresso, creating a comforting drink that feels as artisanal as the surroundings. Iced Lattes: These are exceptionally refreshing. They manage to keep the espresso flavor front and center without letting the milk or ice wash it out. It's the ideal companion for a sunny afternoon on the patio. The Atmosphere There is something uniquely relaxing about grabbing a drink and sitting among the trees and rocks outside this cabin-style shop. It's clearly a favorite for locals and travelers alike, and for good reason--the "upstate" vibe is genuine, and the coffee is world-class. The service is full of happiness. Final Verdict: If you are in the Lake Placid area and take your caffeine seriously, Capisce is the place to be.

The employees were friendly, and our stuff came out fast. I got an iced latte with maple syrup and soy milk, my boyfriend got a salted caramel iced latte with vanilla cold foam, and my friend got a drip coffee. The coffee was so good! The only reason I'm not leaving 5 stars is because my friend got the savory cheese twist and it tasted stale, dry and not like cheese :( but the quiche was very good he said. Overall I'd definitely come back for more lattes! I'm happy to have tried this on a trip to Lake Placid.

Also looking at their seasonal drinks my wife and I knew we needed to stop in. Plenty of street parking available right nearby so unless they are super busy you should be good. Once you walk in they had a board sign with all the seasonal specials. It was quite a large space with a good amount of seating with some more comfy seating like the couch and then plenty of tables too. Near where you order they have a baked good display with the daily offerings from a I suspect local bakery. They do appear to offer breakfast sandwiches but only on the weekend. Baked goods wise my wife grabbed a blueberry muffin and I grabbed some sort of apple cinnamon roll. Drink wise my wife got their Pumpkin S'more Steamer and I got the Loganberry Cobbler Cold Brew. My cinnamon roll was delicious, while my wife's muffin was not that great and didn't taste that fresh unfortunately. Drink wise both were phenomenal! My wife's even came topped with a homemade marshmallow and my had a great amount of flavor of a fruit that I am not use to seeing (popular in this area though and I can see why). Besides seasonal they also have all the drinks you'd expect from a coffee shop. Absolute no brainer to stop here if you are from the Potsdam area or visiting or even traveling through. If I were local to the area this would be my go to coffee shop!
