My family goes to lake placid every year and we haves loved origin coffee but this year was different. When we went the first day there chefs weren't there so there was know food so we thought we would come a different day so we went a different day when we got there it was pretty packed so we thought that we would just get the drinks and go but when we got the drinks they were in mugs so we obviously couldn't of taken it to go also to point out the staff seemed liked they didn't want to be there and just didn't look happy and didn't talk to the customers so this is why the experience was different this year I hope you understand origin coffee. read more

Awesome coffee! If you are in the area and looking for a cup of joe worth drinking this is literally the only place to go and it will rival any other coffee house in or out of the region. They feature roasts from a great Portland roaster, Coava, served in a quaint setting with great breakfast bites. Did I say Go!? Lots of milk alternatives and vegan options. Also if you are feeling adventurous give the beetroot oat milk latte a try... It's great! read more

All I wanted was a hot cup of coffee on a rainy day. Instead, I listened as the 3 employees of the shop all stood around and had a conversation with the people who walked in just before me. Not about his coffee choice or what snack he wanted, but about where one could go to get birch picture frames. All 3 employees apparently needed to be part of this convo, and at no point did any of them actually make a coffee or even glance in my direction. After 5 minutes of chat, I left. I understand needing tourism dollars to survive, but driving off locals with poor service isn't a great business model - I've got coffee at home. Edited to add: the mask rules were also not enforced, so not only did I wait for nothing, but I was potentially exposed to COVID-19. Great job! read more

The best coffee shop in the High Peaks region. The menu changes but their selection of toasts & breakfast items are always tasty! They have WiFi and a decent number of seats- both inside and out. I am currently finishing my breakfast sandwich and had to stop to give this review. It's a near perfect sandwich. I say "near perfect" because come on, has a sandwich ever been perfect? Anyway, back to this sandwich, it has the perfect distribution of egg, bacon, cheese and avocado. With a touch of hot sauce this sandwich will leave me thinking about it for some time. I came here with a friend who doesn't like to eat gluten because it will kill her and she is enjoying the gluten free version of this sandwich with the same amount of delight. We were only here for a day and what a treat. Also, my cappuccino is fantastic! The flavors is great and I love the pattern the barista made on the top. If I could give this place 5 1/2 stars I would. But I can't so I gave it 5 stars. Great little coffee shop that also makes delicious sandwiches and breakfasts. It's a cozy little place, the woman at the counter was super friendly, gave great hiking and shopping suggestions and made great coffee. Best coffee place I found in the Lake Placid/Saranac lake area hands down. They make a great flat white. Had the egg sandwich and ham panini on different days. I would drive here from lake placid just to have a coffee after a hike. Seating up top in back is minimalist and each table has flowers. Very nice touch. read more

So, I stayed in Bloomingdale for the past week and needed some good coffee and Origin was the closest spot and needless to say, it was awesome. The drink menu offers some unique concoctions and the food menu is also unique as well with some different combinations of toast and breakfast fare. I went there 3 times during the week and the staff made me feel like I was a regular - Big props to the barista with the glasses and the other barista with the blonde hair - They were really nice and not that fake "have a good day" bologna - Looking forward to my next trip up to the Dacks so I can throw back that Affogato and another breakfast biscuit. Great local coffee shop with a nice variety of beverages and food and a fantastic atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and the decor is welcoming and warm. A great location right on Broadway in Saranac Lake, NY within walking distance of lots of local businesses. I've had the cappuccino and chai latte, both of which were unique and tasty. I'm excited to try the rest of the menu over time and look forward to getting work done in the café on the shops wifi. As a barista of over a year, I love a good cup of coffee or tea and appreciate the artistry of the barista on the other side of the counter. These folks are talented, knowledgable, and happy to engage in conversation. And they make some pretty great beverages, so in my book all those elements add up for a nice five star review. I was driving my way back home from Lake Placid and Origins Coffee was listed as the areas best breakfast! They had an amazing Cold Brew absolutely refreshing. I asked the person taking my order what I should get and they suggested Avocado Toast. I ended up ordering the avocado toast and it was sooooo worth it! read more

There is a solid reason that this place has five star reviews. I love nothing more than a leisure morning walking to a cafe to get tea and a light breakfast. We are visiting the area for a few days and I happened upon this place. The people are lovely, the food and tea were amazing. The first day, I got the avocado toast. It was delicious. The next day I got the granola yogurt. Fantastic. I ordered London Fog tea each day. And my teenager actually had the smoothie. He eats nothing healthy. The line was out the door each time, but don't let that scare you. It's worth the 5-10 minute wait to order. read more

We only passed through this adorable little town but since it was early we stopped in for a quick cup of coffee at Origin. Service was friendly and quick and the menu had several items. Both of us ordered Americanos. They were full of flavor and very smooth. Wish we had more time to taste some of their delectable looking sandwiches! read more

The perfect addition to Saranac Lake. A beautiful friendly coffee shop with great lattes and drinks plus baked goods. This is such a cute little place with fantastic friendly service that remembers you. The coffee is so good I am making excuses to go the 11 miles to town to get some. The baked good are delicious and we had the granola too. They were out of the frittata the day we went for breakfast but all the food looks good and there is a line out the door. read more

This is a cute little coffee shop I enjoy visiting when I'm passing through Saranac Lake. The coffees, teas and smoothies are tasty. The toasts are also good, though I'm not too sure about the $9 avocado toast price tag. All in all, about $19 for a 12 oz. smoothie, a 12 oz. earl grey london fog and a single toast is quite a pricey "lunch". Not very filling for one person but fairly satisfying, if that's what you're into. Regardless, it's still good! read more

I have a love hate relationship with origin coffee. It IS the best coffee shop in town but there isn't much for competition either. The coffee is okay, the service is good, but they open at 7am(which in my opinion is late for a coffee shop) and even then they aren't even ready for business. The pastries ( once they are out) are hit or miss. Prices are high. The atmosphere is nice and the nook in the back affords a place to hang out and catch up with friends. The owners have definitely put a lot of work into the place. I appreciate what they are trying to do. I would rather give them my money than go to Starbucks, but Starbucks coffee is better, cheaper and open early! read more

Friendly staff, delicious food, simple & straightforward coffee menu, Coava Coffee beans from trusted Portland, OR roaster. I usually peruse the pour over menu when I scout out coffee shops because I tend to gravitate toward an African coffee, and they had 3 to choose from during this late summer season. The clean, white interior with beautiful wooden table tops was enough to lure me back. Combine that with a delicious Ethiopian pour over, a very balanced iced black tea and chill indie music playing overhead ... I'm hooked. The friendly barista recommended the peach toast and avocado toast, and I can absolutely see why. They were both incredible! They rung up as $5.?? each, for the total to then magically bounce up an unexplained extra $5 for a total of $20. The lady had a plastic bag ready, then decided not to bag them last second. When I asked for it, she told me I should have brought my own bag!! When literally other customers in store were given bags, as were my buddies, no issues given. Worse, they treat their customers like crap across the board indirectly! They refuse to allow *paying* customers to use the Wi-Fi in a *known* dead zone, strangely at this location specifically. They have several different hostile and unwelcoming signs/ messages everywhere outside the building. Just one of them being "10 minute parking only!" So if they take longer than 10 minutes to make your sandwich, they also gonna threaten to tow!!!?? The only reason I imagine people go here is to get stuff no one else in town has, like specialty snacks and beers I've also personally never seen elsewhere. The men have been somewhat nicer, but still can't even get a smile, ever. Someone needs to get rid of miserable rude granny, and while at it get the whole place's behavior to shape up.
