I'd have photos but the crowd would've all laughed at me. Greenwich, Connecticut. Iykyk. "Mhmm," "yup," "sup dude..." all not in the dictionary here. Some call it class, others call it manners. Some don't know the difference but there is one. And so I didn't break out my phone as to not embarrass myself and my loved one. And to fit in with a crowd I don't belong to. Ashamed of myself? Never. Orienta is highly rated and beloved by locals. This is somehow takeout for some of the Greenwichites although in other territories nobody would ever dare takeout from such a lovely and lively ambiant. Suit jacket upon suit jacket crowd by the inside of the door, shaking each other's hands and sharing faux cheek pecks. I saw way too many salads hit tables even though they were probably very good. Anything to stay snatched, holla at boy. Excuse me, your man... gentleman. Pilates. Reformers. Hot yoga. Musical chairs at Orienta with everyone that walks by because somehow we know everyone in this town and we're all wearing the same clothes and speak the same and happen to be at Orienta on the same night and somehow decide to join each other all for dinner. Amazing town to study. Just amazing. Anyways - Bao Buns are very good, dumplings solid. Pad Thai is like a savory pad see ew / pad Thai combo - very nice. Their star savory crepe is very fresh tasting and the chicken inside the crepe is very very nice. Pricing is fair. Service was quick, the servers were nice but cautiously and potentially judgingly so if that makes sense. Like if you waved your mitts across their face their eyes would roll behind their sockets and they'd start hitting thriller. And maybe a Soulja boy... YOUUUUUUU. You should give this place a try. It's good. I wouldn't call it 5 star great though. I'd like to try a few more things but nothing really stood out, nothing really disappointed. For the local tribes it's straight vibes. For us outta towners, one go was enough but I won't say no to a second-go. read more

This place was awesome!! We went on a quiet Sunday night and were greeted very warmly and had great service throughout. The food was absolutely outstanding. My favorite item were the lobster shooters and shaking beef, but would also recommend the pad Thai, shrimp dumplings, and savory crepe. Everything was great. Even my lychee martini! It's a cute, small place off Greenwich Avenue and I could see it getting a little loud on crowded nights, but it was very calm when we were there. Will absolutely return! read more

Ate at the bar. Crunch mango salad was delicious. I had the spicy duck lo mein. Perfectly cooked duck breast, sliced and served on top of the noodles. My wife had the chicken curry, which she declared the best she ever had. Ordered take out the following week. I went there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of food. I ordered the spicy beef dumplings and the shrimp banh mi. Both were flavorful and delicious. The flavors were bright and elegant. Dessert was an especially well done mandarin chocolate mousse with candied orange peel and Vietnamese coffee made with chicory coffee from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. It's the kind of dessert experience that stayed in my head for days afterward. For a small but well appointed location in Greenwich, this place went above my expectations. Orienta is a high-end, luxury French-Asian fusion restaurant centrally located near Main Street, Greenwich. Ambiance is understated, with low light and tables a bit too close to each other, bordering on cramped. Diners are permitted to eat at the bar, which opens up more cuisine area but eviscerates any casual bar scene. We arrived early and tried to grab a drink at the bar. The proprietor shoed us away as there was no room at the bar for drinks (perhaps something the restaurant should rethink). He was not overtly rude - but he wasn't particularly pleasant either. Surprised, we left for another bar and returned later for dinner. I'm glad we did. As part of a large group, we ordered a number of dishes and shared collectively. Everything was delicious (perhaps that's why the proprietor felt comfortable encouraging us to leave for a drink). For appetizers, the baby back ribs were the star - rich pork falling off the bone. For main dishes, the spicy duck lo mein is a must. Although the food is exceptional, prices are sky high. For six people, the cost exceeded $900 with very modest beverage consumption. All I have to say is try the Lobster Shooters!!! I also just love the energy of Orienta - it's small, almost tight, but warm, positive and beautiful interior design. The bar is large enough to dine at, but the restaurant is not large enough to hang out and stand at the bar if you don't have a seat. What a wonderful gem of a restaurant! We stopped in because we wanted something different and boy were we pleased we decided to come here. The service was excellent, quick and efficient. I mentioned to my server that I had a food allergy and she was excellent in ensuring I avoided things I should not be having from the menu. For starters we had the pork spring rolls which were served with a delicious sauce. They suggested we rap them in the lettuce they provided and it was so good! For our entrees I had the Shaking beef plate and my girlfriend had the Spicy Duck Lo mein. Both of our meals were so good. The Shaking Beef was out of this world. The veggies and beef was cooked perfectly and tasted even better. My girlfriend really enjoyed her duck, she opted out of the lo mein and had the Jasmine rice which she preferred. I can definitely see ourselves coming back to try other items. The ambiance at the restaurant was so good. The lighting was perfect and it was nicely decorated. Another fusion disaster added to the growing list of Americanized Asian cuisine in CT. Hence the name. These restaurants frustrate me beyond words. My desire for authentic Asian cuisine in CT must wait once more. The establishment tries its best to be fresh and noteworthy. However, look beyond the aesthetics and you begin to see the flaws. Food is not identifiable due to fusion aspects and several items are from early 2000's (ie avg tuna sashimi on cucumbers and salmon tartare). Service is spotty. Enough with the expensive fried rolls and dumplings or pu pu platter items dressed up and served as high end appetizers/shareable plates. Hear me scream lol. Restaurants charging higher end prices have to stop making excuses by delivering great food and service. As consumers we need to demand more as well. read more

Orienta was a unique French-Vietnamese fusion restaurant with old world style and charm. The food was delicious -- not saturated in overwhelming flavors -- but subtle. The staff and owners clearly love what they do and it shows in the quality of each appetizer. Entrée and desert. While my partners steak was a little on the well-done side, my duck was prepared perfectly. The meat had just enough fat to hold flavor while not smothering the meat. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great, the dishes came out quickly and hot. I loved everything I tried and already excited to go back to try so many other things. Even their lunch menu is a little different. The one thing I didn't love was the dressing on the Salad Chinoise-- too much vinegar. Otherwise, great food and atmosphere. The space itself is very fabulous. The combination of gorgeous floral wallpaper and the high gloss painted woodwork. Wow! Very festive and fun. We had the large round table in the window which is awesome for a group of 6-8 and feels almost like private dining. The service was perfect. Friendly, professional and spot on. And I have not even gotten to the food yet. WOW! We had soft shell crab app which was maybe a teeny bit over breaded but the flavors totally made up for it. Lovely little crunchy herby salad along side it was delicious! And the curry shrimp!!! Oh my lord I can't say enough good stuff. Three of us had it and were really pleased! Two at our table had fish which was perfectly cooked with delicious sauces and one had the beef and was thrilled!!! Then there was dessert which did not disappoint. My husband and I were in Greenwich last night and decided to try this place out, I've heard good things from a few folks on Instagram. Walking in, and then asking to sit outside, the restaurant is noticeably far less busy than every other place on the Ave. The food reflects this, we split an appetizer and each got entrées. The appetizer, spring rolls, both tasted and smelled rotten; they were hard to eat. For dinner, my husband enjoyed his poke bowl, but the crab cakes I got were incredibly bland and expensive for $40. Our server was decent, but took 20+ minutes to bring the check.. won't return read more

Way better than most of the other Greenwich restaurants. Came on a Friday night without ressies and it was pretty crowded but got an outdoor table within half an hour. Cocktail menu in great and so was the snapper special. Loved the sticky rice. Seared tuna with wasabi mash was delish too. read more

Was practically empty when seated around noon, and was giving the full attention of the head waiter and the owner, who were charming and friendly. Hate to be negative but I am a bit surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reviews for this restaurant-well I guess it is Greenwich and price does not seem to be an issue for many people. I went for lunch with some colleagues and their lunch menu is WAY overpriced it is almost absurd. I paid $30 for a tiny Bahn Mi Shrimp sandwich (the entire sandwich was probably 5-6 bites) that came with a tiny side salad (that just consisted of lettuce and watery dressing) nothing special at all and the sandwich was very oily. It seemed the dishes are extremely small but laid out nicely overall. They are taking good COVID precautions however with barriers between tables and hand sanitizer on each table. and the waiter was very prompt and pleasant. The place looks lovely and does not have a nice ambience but I do not see any reason to go back to be honest. I can get a much better meal for a more reasonable price elsewhere sorry to say. read more

I rather enjoyed my meal at Orienta, but it was border line and perhaps more that borderline over-priced --- and this is a semi-post Covid environment where is seems that most eateries are trying make up for lost time! And this was the LUNCH menu! Just so you know that I'm not a cheap guy, we're talking $13.50 for Tom Kha Gai soup!!!! In the 5-star Thai place that I frequent, it's about 1/3 or that. Anyway, my wife had the Vietnamese Steak salad which was made with nicely cooked slices of hanger steak and a wonderful dressing so that meal passed with flying colors. My Fried Calamari salad was very good, a pretty generous portion and superbly fresh. At first, I thought the frissee a tiny bit bitter, but I got used to it and it was a nice meal. Service was excellent (despite one minor misunderstanding about my club soda). Prompt and helpful. Nice outdoor dining, but it was over 90 and humid, so we ate in an almost empty, but lovely indoor dining room. Still and all for 2 modest salad entrees, a coke and a club soda ---- no alcoholic drinks, appis, or desserts, it was about $80 w. tip. Even in Greenwich, this is almost obscene. read more
