This is one of my favorite regional restaurants! I have been going here for at least 20 years! We originally went for its amazing French Onion soup and we ended up having lunch. I had the Ahi Nisciose Salad that was wonderful in every way! The dressing wasn't overly vinegary, It came with four huge chunks of ahi tuna. Cooked medium rare as I requested, the cooked vegetables were exemplary and the uncooked went together in a spectacular symphony. My date had the chicken paillard BLT and again magnificent as were the hand cut French Fries we shared! Our server Jaylene who was also our Maitre'd was a pleasure and extremely informative! We came to Bistro V for a weekend brunch and dined outside. There was some shade and it was nice to sit outside. I love lobster rolls in CT and decided to try this one. It was covered in sauce, though, and you couldn't taste the freshness of the lobster. The french fries tasted like they'd been sitting there, too. If you're looking for a good lobster roll, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

I've been to Bistro V for weekday lunches, weekend brunch, and drinks but I have NEVER received the level of disrespectful service than I did during Mother's Day brunch. It's typical that this restaurant has sub par service but the food and atmosphere are consistently good. Our food was taking unusually long , almost an hour into our reservation, so I asked who I believed was the manager what the issue was. He immediately became defensive, corrected me by saying "in fact, after sitting down and taking your order, it's only really been 30-40 min since the order went into the kitchen". No apology, raising his voice, and arguing with me that I was wrong in how long we had been waiting. If it weren't for my kids, I would have said some choice words and walked out immediately. I am in the service industry and I would be mortified if anyone on my teams ever treated a client this way. Don't be in the service industry if you don't know how to properly communicate. Furthermore, you should be aware of your audience. My two young girls were sitting there listening to the manager raise his voice to their mother on Mother's Day, upset thinking it was their fault for being hungry. Nicely done sir. read more

We had a lovely brunch here. The staff, the service, the food and the clientele were delightful. We found the staff to be accommodating and willing to go above and beyond in areas such as seating, obtaining parking and attentiveness. It was also a beautifully relaxed atmosphere, a difficult balance to attain in a town known for being posh. The food was equally delicious. We began with calamari and the "clothespin bacon" - both were show stopping. My son loved the bacon and the calamari arrived with two dipping sauces. Nothing French about this place. Yes it may be great spot to have coffee or a drink, but I will not return. Being European I am spoiled by the experience of true coffee houses and pastry shops. This location was not welcoming at all, the bus boy told us to pick out a table. We chose to sit in center of the room as I like to people watch. Most of the pastries we asked for were not available and the ones we chose were not that great. We had a small gathering at the Bistro V for brunch. You definitely need a reservation. The place gets very packed. Also, parking is hard to find be prepared to walk a bit. Our waiter was good and checked on us a few times. They don't rush you. I liked our waiter giving us a few recommendations. I order eggs Benedict's and French toast with berries. Everything was good but wanted to try everything. Our group shared a few plates together. Overall the place was good it wasn't loud. The decor was nice not too much made it a nice feeling. Galentine's Day Saturday brunch for two. Started out great as we were lucky we didn't have a wait for a table. We ate every last piece on all of our plates!! Quiche spinach, croque monsieur (add egg) which I think makes it a croque madam, side salads with each. Consumed some cocktails and definitely ordered two desserts. My wife and I had lunch at Bistro V with another couple. We were somewhat concerned before we went, given the mixed reviews, but had a very pleasant experience. The service and ambiance were very good, and the food excellent. My wife and I both had the Chicken Paillard (breaded) and loved it. The prices were very reasonable. The Lobster Roll that our friend ordered looked pretty small for the price, but other than that I can't comment on it. We would definitely return, given the opportunity. read more

Bistro V is the first French restaurant I've ever visited, and like many of the Greenwich Ave restaurants, everything was top tier! First, I want to give a shout out to the bartender, because he made one of the best mocktails I've had! It was a fruit punch one and made me feel like I wasn't missing out by not drinking. All of the food was delicious, and the highlights for us were definitely the short rib and the chicken paillard. We also had some of the best chocolate truffles we've ever had for dessert! I totally want to come back for breakfast/brunch, and I think their pastries must be amazing too based on the quality I experienced in everything else. Very interesting how my friend and I ended up dining here. CoVid was still being talked about but hadn't started its effects on us fully yet. Just being discussed on the news. Restaurants were starting to close. We visited this place the day before all the restaurants closed due to the Virus. Aesthetically pleasing would be such an understatement. What an adorable place. This is the place where I first tried Escargot and fell in love so I give this place a bit of credit for that. While the drinks we ordered were a bit mediocre, the food on the other hand was very delicious. I am always very intrigued to try out different restaurants renditions on my fave dessert, Tiramisu. While I have definitely tasted better tiramisu in other places, I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy their version of it. The Bistro V had a popular brunch with live music which created a relaxing atmosphere. The only detractors were numerous loud, unruly toddlers or early age children which drown out the live band. Two different families with children were seated beside me before I left due to the unpleasant children. The owners should identify their target market which appears as adults because of the bottomless mimosas and live band. If so, the management should address loud, unruly squealing children who cannot sit in a chair for more than a few minutes. Several adults were standing on line outside while families with unruly children were creating an unpleasant loud scene. Le Pan Quotidien would be better for the families with kids because they don't have a band or serve limitless alcohol brunches. read more

What a strange Bistro. The food was fine, but not worth going out of your way for. Went there for brunch today and the place was about half full. Staff were buzzing everywhere, and yet the service was horrendous. My biggest complaint was the silly guitar player who was better suited to a dive bar in key west. When I think of bistros, I don't associate them with Jimmy Buffet and tropical shirts. So much for a relaxed brunch where I could talk to the people at my table. Couldn't wait to leave. read more

When this was Versailles, owned by a French woman, it was very good. The food was consistent and the wait staff were attentive and they listened. The last few times I've been there there have been errors- for example- I ordered the sliders medium rare, they come back well done. The wait staff seems out of it- not engaged. Came here at 1p for lunch on a Thursday. It was very easy to find seats for two. The staff was quick with serving us and refilling our waters which was nice. I ordered the blackened salmon sandwich and was able to switch the side of sweet potato fries to normal fries. The sandwich was a perfect lunch portion and was very good. Greenwich Ave is prime real estate and Bistro Versailles is a wonderful spot to have a coffee, lunch, brunch, dinner, drinks, pastries, etc. Anything you want, they have. Their prices are not very expensive, but it's not cheap food either. I love eating their oysters and calamari. I've had their BLT and Salmon, and every time I'm left with a good taste in my mouth. Their bottomless mimosas got some positive reviews from fellow eaters, too. Amazing location and features; Bistro V is on prime real estate on Greenwich Ave amidst the boutiques and decadent shops, however, if money go before, all ways do lie open. The fare is undoubtedly secondary to the scenery, but that shouldn't stop you from having a relaxing bite while on a retreat from NYC or on your way further north. The burger was cooked to perfection and paired with very adequate salad and fries. My girlfriend opted for the avocado toast and was a tad let down by the lackluster taste, however, Californians consider their avocado dishes sacrosanct, and, for the price, the avocado should be fresh, not premade paste. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Decent food but poor service. Ordered after being ignored for 10 mins. Food took 45 mins. After about 1/2 hour asked for our food and server said "you ordered medium well burger" which takes more time. Fine-- blame the customer. This is after a customer who arrived after us got his burger 10 mins prior. 10 mins later asked again and told them that medium to medium well takes only 1-2 mins so they lied to us. They got huffy. Food came and burger was medium rare! They also couldn't stop filling carbonated water glasses with tap water. Go elsewhere. read more

The waitstaff outnumbered the patrons and seemed like they were having a frat party super loudly in our ears. Nobody offered us bread or water - waiter forgot our drinks, forgot our order, and never attended the table to check-in on us. The food was clearly NOT fresh and tasted spoiled. The store front has a lot of desserts usually - since the staff wasn't attending to us whatsoever we went to help ourselves and most of the desserts were gone.
