I had a thai place that I swore by in Cap Hill but they don't deliver. I was also desperately searching for a "go to" Chinese spot on this coast. I found this restaurant on BEYOND MENU and have since only ordered from this restaurant for all of my Chinese and Thai take out orders! This place is the FASTEST to deliver hot and delicious food. Plus the prices are really good for the amount of food you get! The food!!! Let's talk about it. I've tried : Hot and sour soup Spring rolls Eggplant in garlic sauce Ma po tofu Pork in garlic sauce Fried rice Orange chicken General tso chicken Pad see-yew Pad kee mao Green curry ALL were great --and I've yet to be let down when trying something new! The taste brings me back home in NY (I say that a lot about restaurants I like out here)--but this restaurant is better than anything I've tried in NY. I recommend this restaurant 100%. I was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing them on the curious seattle Instagram account however I was somewhat disappointed. To start off there was no rice served with our entrees. We ordered kung poa chicken and Mongolian beef and there was no rice included for either when we received our meal. No where did we see that rice was not included, especially for $13.95 for the entree. The Mongolian beef tasted good I enjoyed it over the kung poa chicken. Appetizers: spring rolls and crab cheese wonton. I like the spring rolls however the crab cheese wontons were not crispy and the inside was an interesting mixture that could have used more cream cheese. I also ordered an egg drop soup which had good taste but it was SO thick, they added too much corn starch. I ordered from Orient Express almost reluctantly. It was one of the only Asian restaurants that delivered through Grub Hub a couple weeks ago and at first it seemed like it was going to be super westernized and not great quality. You can typically discern stuff like that through size of the menu, what the menu focuses on, and the different proteins they have available. It turned out that my initial assumption was wrong... Very wrong. I ordered the Singaporean noodles, Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, and my father ordered Mushu pork. All three dishes were insanely good. The Singaporean noodles had a good level of spice, was filled with high quality proteins, and had a great noodle to protein/veggie ratio. The Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce was light, refreshing, and great for micronutrients. The Mushu pork was good. I didn't really try much of that one, but my dad said it was great. I grew up about 10-15 minutes away from Orient Express and never tried it because of the way it looks, the way that many people refer to it as just a bar, and because of the neighborhood it is in (not the most convenient place to drive to). But boy, when they say don't judge a book by its cover, they were seriously right. read more

We ordered from here for delivery this Christmas. The food was delivered promptly, still piping hot from the kitchen, 10 or 15 minutes before the estimate from when we placed the order. The delivery guy was super nice and the food was amazing. Delivery was way cheaper from the store than using Uber eats. But today, not good, in fact it was terrible :( I ordered the Pad See Yew (Thai Lunch) This is my go to at all Thai places, my favorite! It's supposed to come with broccoli & eggs. The noodles were hard also. It came with ONE small piece of broccoli and NO egg, usually Thai food has some kind of flavor/spice, this tasted like straight up Soy Sauce. I planned a 30-person birthday party in one of the karaoke cars this weekend, and while there were a couple things that could have gone better, we had a great time! There's not much information about the karaoke situation on the Orient Express' website, and not all of the staff speaks English, but I learned over the phone that you can book rooms for up to 40 people, with a minimum that your group needs to spend on food and drink amounting to $23/person. Our room's orders wound up on one bill that we paid at the front on our way out. There's a separate menu for the karaoke rooms (see pics), and a server who comes around to take orders. The appetizers and well drinks were perfect for our crew, though we did have to track down our server a couple times throughout the night. Some of our friends just started going to the bar to get drinks, but those orders didn't count towards the minimum we needed to spend in our room. One other heads up: the karaoke system is pretty tricky to figure out. You have to search by initials, and while it's chock full of Asian songs and artists, it was hard to find a lot of the American classics we were looking for. That said, the music videos are hilarious, the amenities inside our room were great, and in general the staff was fantastic. Terrible customer service (except the delivery guy - although less than 5 words were exchanged). Came in from a late flight and First time ordering. Ordered Chicken Red Curry ($10.95), Almond Chicken ($10.95) and Thai Iced Tea ($4) Red curry came without any rice which I thought was a given with any of these types of food. I called to ask if the order should've came with rice and that they forgot, the host that answered the call said order does not come with rice and should be ordered separately, which was NOT specified. I then asked if I can get a side of white rice since I just spent over $30 + tip, she said, "No, we're not sending anymore drivers out!" What further ticked me off wasn't the fact that my Thai Iced tea didn't come with a straw but that the host was extremely RUDE!!! Food was average. Today, Orient Express bestowed its Orange Beef for judgement. Upon presenting the dish, I noticed the Orange Beef's minor use of spices & few of the blood orange peels that was used to cook with the sauce, accompanied by a bowl of rice if you choose to spend the extra $1.75 per bowl. But the most important part is how the dish tasted. A few bites in I noticed the sauce lacked any satisfying flavor to go with the beef. I could feel as if the sauce was trying to pull me in with the spices to eat more but with the lack of flavor, it was unsuccessful accomplishing the task. With the constant Chinese karaoke in the background, I felt as if I was Mulan lacking any desire to complete the tasks given by the matchmaker. I've had zero luck finding chinese food in WA that is on par with NY style hunan and szechuan or even polynesian. I've been here twice now and the food is very good. I ordered egg foo young expecting a stack of pancakes under brown sauce. It was actually light with a clearer sauce and plenty of vegetables. It was delicious. Also ordered General Tso chicken. Big pieces of chicken not the dried kibble you get at other places. The sauce was tangy with some heat. Also delicious. The little train storefront don't let it scare you away. I came here for karaoke with a group of 9 last minute on a Friday night due to another karaoke place messing up our reservation. Not only were they friendly, accommodating, and they had amazing FOOD! We ordered the string bean, fried tofu, stir fried Chow fun, and my favorite: chicken feet! The best part? It's hell of a good deal! Each person costs around $20 for 3 hours of karaoke and this amount can be used to redeem food and alcohol! Their English songs are fairly well updated, just takes a learning curve to figure out their search system (tip: search using the first and last name initials of artists. Type AK for Alicia Keys) The rooms do get a little hot and stuffy so I'd dress in layers :) All in all, a great place to go if you want to sing your heart out and fill your belly, other karaoke places in Seattle just don't do that! I came back here another night for their disco night, it was super fun, the drinks were strong, and best part? Their kitchen still open late! So I got tired half way through dancing and stepped over to have me some pineapple fried rice without even having to leave the establishment! This review is based off of our Karaoke Dinner experience on a Saturday night. I noticed many negative reviews for take-out orders and normal sit-down dinners, and felt compelled to rave about where Orient Express really shines: Karaoke! While the place looks kind of run-down from the outside, their karaoke system is actually very up-to-date! The touch-screen works really well and you can even scan the QR code on the screen to add songs from your phone via WeChat. The song selection is also excellent, ranging from extremely old 80/90s Canto/Mando pop to very recent Canto/Mando releases as well as American rap/pop. Sound system also was great! The only gripe is that we only had two microphones for our party of 7, which was definitely not enough! We really like coming to Orient Express because it's a really good deal for Karaoke. While other places will charge you for $15-20/head for a few hours of Karaoke, Orient just has a minimum order charge per person for food/drinks off of a Karaoke food menu. While the prices are inflated, they do already account for food + karaoke. We ended up at around $30 after tax and tip per person for like 5 hours of karaoke and a full dinner which is a much better deal than other karaoke places!! Moreover, the Chinese Food here is actually really satisfying! I saw some Thai food section on the menu but given that this is a Chinese restaurant, you'd best stick to what they do best. My favorites of the night were the Stir Fried Beef Rice Noodles (乾炒牛河) and Stir Fried Eggplant (魚香茄子). The salt and pepper tofu was super crunchy and flavorful too. The chicken wings were a bit too salty for us though. I would also pass on the desserts (Fried Ice cream, coconut sticky rice) and just get another entree! The space was unexpected - a bunch of train cars connected together to make room for a kitchen, dining area, bar, and private karaoke rooms. Food was decently priced and offered a lot of Chinese classics such as honey walnut shrimp, chow fun, and kai lan. Exotic items were also available such as pig ear and intestine. Overall, food was alright but so so so greasy. Service could also be improved. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes after our karaoke room reservation time for it to be prepared and cleaned. The mics were not working in the room so we could only do karaoke for half the time but were charged for the full time. There was no offer for reimbursement for wasted time. It was so difficult to order drinks and it would take nearly 30 minutes after ordering for drInks to arrive. When I called back to ask for a "parcel" refund she told me I don't know how to eat chicken and I can't have a refund. As much money I spent in that place I can't even get a parcel refund? 2nd time getting food from here. I'm changing it to 5 stars. Is this the best Chinese food I've ever had? Is it even top 5? No, but it doesn't have to be. I ordered pad thai out of curiosity and fried rice. I had protein at home. First off, the price is very good, especially for being in Seattle. $10 for fried rice, and $12.50 for an entree is a good price point, even without white rice being included. It's kind of stingy to not include rice, but the portions of the entree are generous, especially for the price. Pad Thai- This was not Pad thai, but it was good. This was Pad Chinese. There were the same noodles in pad thai, and had peanuts and bean sprouts in there, but the sauce was gravy-like or was what comes with almond chicken. Not sure what it was. There was no ketchup or spicy flavor in it. This was the Chinese version of Pad Thai for sure....but it was good because it had lots of onions and veg in it. Fried rice- delicious and generous portion. Had a decent amount of veg and bbq pork in it, and it was done right. Food was out in a jiffy and it was $22 for two entrees. Great Chow Mein! Me and bf just moved to the area and love this place! The shrimp fried rice is also loaded with shrimp and is prob the best I've ever had. I was excited to visit this location after reading an Atlas Obscura article. I checked OE's website and saw it was open for dine-in (as the biggest lure about the location is its unique architecture this was fairly important, as I'm sure they are well aware). Upon arrival, I was a bit dubious. The building looked vacant, there were empty liquor bottles and old shoes littered around the entrance and a man sleeping underneath one of the cars. Still, I went inside and was enthusiastically greeted by a wary-looking woman. After flatly informing me they were not doing dine-in she went silent and just stared at me. I asked if they were doing take-out and she confirmed they were, still making no move to grab a menu or offer and guidance as far as next steps. When I asked if they were still serving lunch, she looked at the clock behind her and said, "no, not after labor day". Yep, you read that right. She looked at a CLOCK and told me I was MONTHS late for their lunch combos It was increasingly clear she did not want my business ( I am black and I've had similar issues being served in certain areas) but not to be deterred I requested a menu. She waved vaguely towards a stack of menus, not deigning to fetch one for me herself, and after a quick perusal I went with the garlic eggplant, a side of rice, and the egg drop soup. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because the soup was actually pretty amazing and had the eggplant been a little less sweet I would have been back for both, poor service aside. As is, I wouldn't say it's worth the drive until dine-in reopens. read more
