We went to Oregon Dairy for the first time around Halloween in the fall. They had a corn maze and tractor ride along with other fun fall attractions/activities. A lot to see and do with the kids and overall a great family friendly atmosphere that's safe and has a little something for everyone , young and old . They have the coolest market with a lot of local produce, baked goods, jams, and fruit butters. A bulk candy section and fair prices. The model toy train is so cute and is a bonus for kids of all ages to watch. It goes around the track at the top of the store and also runs through a track in their sit down restaurant. I will say we decided to eat dinner there and we had the salad bar, and sandwiches. Salad bar had fresh options and delicious soups that tasted homemade. My only disappointment was, Sadly, the eggs in the sandwiches we ordered tasted premade and reheated, not made to order scrambled eggs and they tasted like they could have been powdered? Overall though, it was a nice time. The restaurant is also family friendly and accessible for those with disabilities that may require a wheelchair. The staff seemed friendly and our service was very good. Not a long wait time. Overall it's a wonderful establishment and the market is incredibly loaded to the rafters with goodies sure to please everyone. The Ice cream for dessert was delicious too. I would recommend Oregon Dairy. Not just for the great market and gift shop,but it's a cool place to bring the kids with an outdoor playground area and different seasonal activities. read more

Oregon Dairy is magical. This quaint market has a lot of homemade ready to go foods. They have foods in bulk and a lot of pickled foods. The deli is really good and they are so helpful. It has a store, a gift shop, a restaurant, an ice cream shop with a deck next to a nice playground as well as some animals outside to see up close. The service is wonderful in all places. I'm really lucky to live near it. Get a picture of your kids sitting on the fake cow. They love it. My niece still calls it magical and she is 27. She went there all her life for an ice cream and a picture of her on the cow and to play on the playground and the cattle shoot. This review is for Oregon Dairy's lunch buffet, at $17.00. At first glance, I was like.. this is meh or at least it looks, meh; I ordered it anyway, because of the variety. Looks can be deceiving and such was the case, here. The price was fair, service, swift and friendly, choices, ample and tasty. Salad bar was amply stocked with fresh choices (greens, purple onions, chopped eggs, chick peas, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, sliced red beats, carrots, olives, mayonaisse based salads, croutons, dressings...) Hot bar, delivered: ham balls, salisbury steak w/gravy, red-skinned mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, baked corn, baked chicken and fish, stewed tomatoes, chicken and dumplings, shredded pork and kraut The entrees I tried, tasted home-made. My favs were that baked corn, similar to a sweet custard, with corn (couldn't get enough of that). I appreciated that the stewed tomatoes weren't cloyingly sweet and went perfectly with a small heap of mashed potatoes. First time trying ham balls, lying in a savory/sweet, sticky kinda sauce - so good and the mac & cheese, homemade (not Kraft). The dessert choices were underwhelming - lots of fluff with crushed this, that, gummed-looking strawberry sauce, BUT; you do get your choice of one scoop of ice-cream. I choose Cookie Monster, arrived blue (like the Sesame Street character) - with a mash of assorted cookies, the perfect ending to this surprisingly, good meal. read more

Took my grandchildren ( 4y & 18 months). We did the train ride, had ice cream and then the sunflower field. They loved the playground prior to the train ride. The train ride through the dairy barn was educational and fun! Our driver was so nice to the kids. We also enjoyed feeding the goats! The ice cream was delicious! I highly recommend the lemon. The new owners give off a very caring attitude to your face, but they don't actually keep word. I was hired on to help fix their problems in the restaurant kitchen. (Staff issue, Implementing proper cleaning procedures, etc.) Their kitchen is unfit to serve food out of; they have failed multiple health inspections. At first, I loved working for them from a management perspective because I thought they had my back in getting my job accomplished. I would have meetings with owners and upper management on a regular basics to let them know the issues that were going on and, in those meetings, they would act like they would do the things that I had proposed, but never actually followed through. My finale straw was when a male employee threatened to S.A. a minor female employee at work, and they only gave him a warning instead of firing him. In any work environment that would be a big problem but one that hires 14-15 year olds is unacceptable. Parents if you're reading this, please keep your children safe and don't let them work here. read more

We've gone here 3 years in a row to get pumpkins. Took a tractor ride up to the patch and paid for our pumpkins there. This time they were charging $15/person just to enter! They have a bunch of cute, but definitely not elaborate, kids activities which we have always bypassed as we just went for the pumpkin patch. Pretty disappointing for the whole family that we had to leave due to insane price gouging. Was not about to pay $60 for our family of 4 to get into the pumpkin patch and then pay the up-charged price of the pumpkins on top of that! Shame on you Oregon Diary. read more

This is a review of their bakery department, specifically pies. For nine dollars I bought a very mediocre coconut custard pie. The best part was the coconut, the worse the filling. It was so bad,I threw 80% of it away. I hate wasting money but this was borderline not able to be eaten. read more

We have gone to Oregon dairy for years and enjoy the ice cream shop in the summer. Stopped today for ice cream, hubby got a soft serve and I ordered the Waffle cone (which is amazing) and 2 scoops of ice cream. Watched several customers get their orders and continued waiting for ours. Hubby got his soft serve and finished it and continued waiting patiently for mine. Finally went up to ask about it, server left window, came back a few minutes to hand us a single scoop in a sugar cone. Explained we paid $2 extra for a waffle cone. Came back to tell us "oh we ran out of them". Showed the receipt with the 2 scoops, sprinkles and waffle cone. Comes back with 2 scoops in a paper bowl and stared at us, asking if we wanted a sugar cone on top. No apologies, no thank you for your patience and waiting for over 20 minutes. What has happened to customer service? Will be looking for other options for our grandchildren. Very disappointing. read more

Whether you're grocery shopping, grabbing a meal at the restaurant, or satisfying your sweet tooth, always a reliable good to. The scoops and enough to feed two people! I recently ordered a cake from the Oregon Dairy bakery for a gender reveal cake. I had called a week+ in advance and spoke very specifically over the phone about what was needed for the cake. The woman taking my order was very kind and had everything I said written down perfectly. I asked for a vintage heart cake, ALL white, and with "Baby ___(insert name)__" written on the top. Once I arrived to pick up my cake, they opened the box and it was simply not what I had requested. Not only was there color on the cake after I asked for only neutrals, the cake also did NOT have any writing on the top as requested. After voicing my concerns, they told me that there is not a cake decorator in today so no one was able to fix it or even write on the cake!!!! (Who does not have a cake decorator working AT A BAKERY!!!) The staff that was working was very kind in trying to help however, without a cake decorator, there was simply nothing they could fix. Attached to the cake box was the order form which was filled out with all of my correct requests so they clearly had the correct information, and the decorator ignored them all! After all of this, I was offered 50% off my cake which does not feel like adequate compensation however, the event was that day so I had no choice. Then for hours, I had to worry if they even had the correct cake color dyed on the inside for the gender reveal which THANK GOD WAS RIGHT. (At least that was correct) I attached photos for reference - The white cake is what I had requested and the colored cake is what was given! NOT CORRECT AT ALL EXCEPT THE SHAPE! I can't say I will ever recommend Oregon Dairy for cakes if they are going to obviously ignore the instructions given to them by the customer. read more

Where is there to be said about the ole Oregon Dairy that hasn't been said and understood a million times before in Lancaster, PA. To me, it's a flavor I grew up with. To my wife, who's first introduction was in her late 20s, it's local comfort food done right. All in all, it's a place return to regularly for breakfast, lunch or dinner and can still get a quality local dipped ice cream or some grocery staples (and treats!) at a fair price. Pros: The food is delicious. I've had a range of items there from standard breakfasts (eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast) to liver and onions, to the Ham balls and on and on. I've never been disappointed. If you're new in town, stick to the staples - you can't go wrong with: -Baked oatmeal for breakfast. -Any sandwich for lunch, but I prefer the Rachel. Or if you're hungry, go for a bread bowl and some Broccoli and cheese soup! -For Dinner, the liver is delightful, but the ham balls are a personal favorite. The buffets are pretty solid as well, especially breakfast, if you can handle that sort of thing or want to try it all! Breakfasts come with a splash of milk (whole if you don't say anything) and a glazed donut. Who else does that? It's well worth the treat given that OD has some of the better donuts around! The service is quick and attentive. Pricing is fair and comparable to the area. Perhaps a hair cheaper than some nicer places. They also have a wonderful deck/playground with ice cream and the store (with full groceries) is only a door away (exit through the gift shop!) Cons: They do a number of business and expect lines during the busy times (weekend mornings mostly). Still, they move quickly. Conclusion: It's a staple to my visit home. OD Restaurant: Service (Sue) was very good, but the food not so much. We stopped in for a light dinner. We ordered two sandwiches and an order of a bowl of soup which was not really a 'bowl'. Cup was even smaller. The tomato bisque was too sweet and loaded with sugar. We've never had sweet tomato soup. The grilled cheese sandwich (not worth $8.99) was excessively salty on the outside and slight burnt, and there only seemed to be one slice of cheese in it. The avocado BLT (at $12.49) was a joke. It was sparse in the avocado with barely 1 slice of bacon crumbled up, and no mayo in it. Mostly just lettuce. The French fries were good, but it's hard to mess up French fries. Our overall experience left us quite disappointed and dissatisfied. Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. Won't be returning. read more

Verdict: Much more than ice cream here but you'll want to go for the ice cream. Both the coconut and the chocolate peanut butter were great. Slices of peanut butter and slivers of coconut accompanied each scoop and made for a most excellent ice cream experience. I happened to be here in a Saturday when they were doing two scoops (the calf) for the price of one. The deal made the choice a little easier because they have a number of great flavors. I have lived in Lancaster County and have used Oregon Dairy for many years. Its greatest quality includes local management and solid meet/deli department. It is also clean with friendly staff. Unfortunately, they have not at all kept up with the times. They do not include much in the way of organic, international, or newer emerging brands that many of todays consumers are looking for. For basic staple items they are fine. The store is missing a fantastic opportunity to up its game for today's grocery shopper. I would like them to be a long lasting viable player that can keep up well with the competitive landscape in the county. When ever I'm in town for vacation we always come here for breakfast lunch or dinner. The food is good the prices are really reasonable the portions are good but can be better. The service is good but can be spotty when it gets busy. Family friendly lots of parking and you can do some food shopping next door if you want.
