How did I live practically across the street and never knew about this little gem?! Happy to have found it, even after moving a few miles away. It's definitely off the beaten path and completely unassuming, but I definitely recommend seeking this place out. Their deli counter is well priced and always packed with patrons for MTOs and takeaway portions. They also have hard ice cream to dip into cones and bowls. After that it's always an adventure as to what you're finding. All the dry goods, random produce and baked goods along with refrigerated and frozen items. My roommate told me about Forry's 11 years ago, and I passed that sign on my right hand side, the one right across from the Dollar General on Marietta Avenue for the last 11 years never realizing the goodness I'd been denying myself. Forry's is tucked back there-- but it's a true Lancaster County gem. I'm a little transparent with my feelings! Ha! And after oooooing and ahhhhhing one too many times, a fellow shopper said, "so when did you move to the area?" And I had to say "I've been living here for the last twelve years!" And she said, "and you're just now coming here?!?!? What took you so long?!??" My thoughts exactly! Ugggghhhh!!! WHYYYYY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!?? Forry's has a deli counter with all the Lancaster county favorites; soft serve ice cream, a made to order sandwich counter, -- like Subway-- but Soooooo much better (they even have pretzel rolls!!!!) They have produce, meat, bulk goods, frozen gourmet entrees including REAL gnocchi and ravioli-- I mean-- oh my LORD-- that little, non-assuming shop, is tucked in the back -- where one goes there because one wants to-- because it's a heavenly destination-- and exudes love and care from the second you walk in! And as was pointed out to me by the sweetest lady ever at the register: "ya hafta try our oatmeal raisin cookies. They're the best," and she was NOT wrong! We got the chocolate chip ones too. So good. Get over there y'all! Forry's is one of those places that just might renew your faith in humanity and give you a reason to go on. I have been a customer of Forry's for decades. I have always been very happy with the product and prices. On Monday, June 22, 2020, I went in to take advantage of a good sale and was absolutely dumb founded at what I observed. None of the workers were wearing masks!! And many of the customers were also not wearing masks or took them off when they saw the workers not wearing them either!! I nearly put my items back and left the store. Instead I got in line and paid for my products. I asked the owner upon leaving about them not wearing masks. He told me they stopped wearing them 2 weeks prior. No explanation at all. I couldn't believe it. If they don't care enough about themselves to wear a mask, I guess I can't expect them to care about me either. This is a make or break deal with me. I won't be shopping at Forry's any time soon. It's a shame because I drop enough dollars there that I'm sure they will miss my business. I wonder how many others feel the way that I do?!? I also don't expect they will let this up on line for long either. That's a bigger shame because they should let all opinions on their website, not just the great ones! K. Over the last 28 years I have shopped at Forry's they are a wonderful small unique store. I love 7 day sweet pickles from my childhood in Iowa they are time consuming to make much better to run to Forry's. From fresh veggies and fruit to frozen sour cherries for pies they are great. I humble thank Jesus for this place it's the heart of Lancaster county! I live close and have seen the growth and and one generation take it on from the other. Over the years we have loved many products less than 3 or 4 times some products has had an issue just like has happen at other store but they always was are good about returning it and getting to the bottom of it, wanting to know when and what was wrong so they could take care of the issue. My neighbor is a fan of Forry's and has been raving for years about their low prices. For whatever reason this place wasn't on my radar and is off the beaten path so it took me many years of hearing about it to finally venture here. Now that there's a Dollar General store in Silver Spring I'm in the area more often. After passing the sign numerous times I finally decided to check it out for myself. First impressions were that I was surprised that they're located in the backyard of a primarily residential neighborhood. Not large by any means the building is about the size of an older Turkey Hill. Immediately inside was the deli, something my neighbor praised was their deli prices and she was right. I especially liked that when I gave them my order they pulled out a freshly cut pound chipped exactly the way I wanted. No need to wait on them to pull out of the case, chip, and bag. I really liked that proactive deli approach. They also had some freshly prepared dips, salsas, etc in that area. The store itself is small but does contain the basics plus some fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables. They had some milled items prepackaged like flour and oats, and also some locally mixed nuts, candy, and jelly. The Plain (as in Amish/Mennonite) influence was very present by the goods they carried. There's only one old school check out and it did move slow, but they did accept debit/credit cards. In addition to the lunch meat I got a package of locally made seasoned pretzels which proved to be stall once I got them home. I called to inquire about a return and was asked a million questions. I have yet to take them back but can imagine a hassle doing so. So while this wasn't a hit for me it's probably a pretty popular place to those living in the neighborhood. I would return for a specialty "plain" product or if I need an excessive amount of lunch-meat, but otherwise probably won't return other than to get my pretzel refund. read more

Writing my first review ever on one of my favorite places to visit when I'm home...I'm afraid to even write the following for fear that it will disappear more quickly off of Forry's shelves... best homemade peanut butter around...honey roasted is my fav carries Diffenbach's sweet potato chips. enough said. $1.10 dozen eggs sadie's mac salad great fruit/veggie trays...I have purchased these for bridal showers and graduation parties. Highly recommend! The only downfall to Forry's shopping is that it's closed on sunday's and they occasionally run out of the highly desired honey roasted PB. otherwise, I will be a Forry's lifetimer. read more

I love shopping, but I LOVE grocery shopping. Bf took me here en route to his parents' on Saturday. The deli selection is amazing, delicious, and did I mention inexpensive! Roast beef was about $4/lb!!!! Produce is fresh as well, great selection of baked goods (we picked up some cream filled red velvet cupcakes YUM!!! bf also bought some oatmeal whoopie) Variety of fresh cream cheese, dips, pastas, honey, spices, etc. This place is small, so it can get a bit crowded, especially just before close. Definitely worth a trip and they accept credit cards too! read more

I live in Silver Spring and this is our "go-to" place for deli, bakery, and produce. They have the BEST bacon around! Recently they added some fantastic garden & chef salads and soft-serve ice cream. I have been here before and saw good prices but the deli is what got me very interested. I make a Stromboli that includes Kunzler ham and Clearfield american cheese and cooked salami. These ingredients I use, no substitutes. Regular price per pound of ham,cheese and salami is 3.99, 3.99 and 2.19 per pound (sometimes they have $1 off per pound special. Compare that to regular stores...it is saving money! I really like this small country store! read more

I seriously do not know how to describe how much I love this place. I would rather support these local folks then any chain grocery store. It is what Lancaster County was. Best little grocery store in a 50 mile radius hands down. Excellent prices on lunchmeat and great selection on locally grown fruits/vegetables. Very small but worth the trip once a week if you live in the area. read more

I've been a long time fan of Forry's since moving to Lancaster County in 2009. I think they have many great values and their prices are outstanding. Normally, I would write a glowing review, but my last visit was less than perfect. My complaint stems from the way the store handled the recent Yelp promotion. I purchased a $10 coupon for $6.00 and picked out an assortment of goodies. I checked out and was surprised that my total was under $10.00. At this point, this is where things go wrong. Apparently you must spend the full $10.00 at one shot (couldn't find that in the fine print of the certificate) and you cannot get store credit or cash back for the difference. I had asked to purchase an additional item to push my total over the $10.00 and was told that I could not do that. Now I didn't lose much off the full value but I just thought the whole process could have been handled better. I will go back but this past visit left a bad taste in my mouth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Updated 03/19/2012 - Spoke to the store manager, Ivan regarding the problems I had encountered in using the above deal. A great family owned and operated business. The prices are far better than the larger supermarkets. The deli prices are the best around. They have an excellent selection of all kinds of goods. The employees are very helpful and pleasant. You can't go wrong shopping at Forry's. If you've never been there, you need to check them out. You won't be disappointed! read more
