We stopped here for some sweet snacks on the way to a nature preserve. While located in the middle of town, the parking can be a bit challenging on the weekend but much easier on a weekday. Everything in the sweet department is verrrrry sweet. The menu changes daily so only the regular cupcake flavors are listed online. So knowing that, choose wisely. The cupcakes have some seriously sweet icing that is almost taller than the cake. We tasted the caramel one and the chocolate one. The coconut scone and chocolate chip scone were very sweet and not scone like but tasty. The almond cranberry muffin was more of a cupcake and was replete with dried sweetened cranberries. We were really excited for this new location on Oregon Pike - we were quickly disappointed. Almost every time we order coffee there are a ton of grounds in the bottom, and we just ordered again last week and got soup, which had a fly in it. Today was the "Great grilled cheese experiment- provolone, American, sourdough, w/ various accompaniments that may or may not be life changing. Stopped in on a Friday morning shortly after opening time and the staff greeted me immediately. Despite being short-staffed, my food was brought out in less than 10 minutes. I ordered the "Main Street morning" bowl and a blueberry muffin. The bowl was perfect. The hashbrowns on the bottom were crispy, the bacon was crunchy, and the cheese was melty. The blueberry muffin was perfectly moist and not too sweet. It tasted super fresh. They have a complimentary water station and a clean unisex bathroom. This was my first time actually coming to Scratch Bakes as I've always passed it and saw it was a popular spot. Today we decided to go in and it was around 11:45am on a Saturday so I'm surprised it wasn't busier. When you walk in the menu is to the left on the chalkboard on the wall and the specials are on the right. They have a solid selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches/wraps that can be grilled or toasted and some soups. They also have salads and combo meals. They also sell lovely little cupcakes that they display in the front in the glass and often they have themed cupcakes (you can also preorder your food or bakery orders if you want cupcakes). I've had their cupcakes before and am a fan of them, so I recommend them for that if you need a batch or just want a sweet treat while on Main Street. Atmosphere: There's a decent amount of seating and there and they even have lounge type seating. There is a part where they have a little island of where you can put sugar/creamer and get napkins or free water next to it. There is also outdoor seating covered under a hanging roof. Food: Because we came at like 11:45am, I wasn't looking to get a cupcake but some actual lunch food. I ordered a bowl size of soup (there is also a cup size) and then my boyfriend ordered the Early Riser which is just a ham, egg and cheese toasted sandwich. When we got our food, it was delicious and I ate it pretty quickly. Highly recommend that broccoli cheddar soup, I ate it even when it was scorching on my tongue because I loved it that much. My boyfriend also said that his sandwich was good and he would order it again. We also got a free bagel & cream cheese...keep reading to find out why. Only complaint was that they didn't offer some catering items for less than 20 people. That being said, we had A LOT of French toast casserole and were not sad about it. I would love to give five stars but I cannot. The food is great, always so yummy and the egg with honest mustard sauce sandwhich is my all time favorite! The lunch savory apple is delicious and I love the hash browns and the cupcakes! BUT I'm a huge iced chai latte fan and get one every single day almost and I live a block away. These are not good here. You have a good base but it's 95% ice. It melts and is so watered done. I have brought it back to be remade twice and get the same all ice drink back. Once I took the ice out the second I got the drink and was three small sips worth. So I have not even gotten a drink there since and will not unless they make there drinks better. It should not be giant ice cubes, smaller ones. Drinks are not it. Food is great!!
