This was a fun spot in downtown Ephrata. The cupcake was delicious, the coffee was pretty good and the environment was pleasant. I got the seasonal Autumn Bomb cupcake which was a pumpkin cake with a cream cheese filling and pecans on top. So tasty! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it took a bit before any of the staff noticed we were there. The lady who did end up serving us seemed irritated that we interrupted whatever she was doing (and seemed bothered when we asked questions about the menu). It's damn near impossible to find a decent cupcake in Philly. I usually get overpriced,dry,stale or bland cupcakes basically anywhere I go. (just my luck I guess) Stopped by Scratch bakes because how can you not ? it's a bakery. We picked up 2 flavors (choc oreo/ vanilla) & a chocolate chip cookie. The cupcakes were by far the best cupcakes I've had @ any bakery.... yup. True Story. Best cupcakes I ever purchased. We actually regret not buying an entire dozen to hand out to family. (like I said I'vd been let down before & didn't want to risk wasting money) The icing & cake were amazing on both. This place really gets it. It's a damn shame I live so far away from this establishment. *Not to end on a negative but the chocolate chip cookie needs some work & might be worth skipping... again, just my opinion* Definitely stop by here if you're visiting Ephrata. read more

If I could give 6 stars I would.My sister & I had the Tomatoe Pepper Jack Soup with the Zesty Jack Grill Cheese and it was absolutely dee- licious. Then we waited a bit,until we ordered one of their 18 choices of Awesome looking cupcakes and coffee. Again,the cupcakes were over the top!! While we were here,we over heard one of the owners tell a customer that Martha Stewart stopped in last year out of the blue,as I'm sure when she read the history of Scratch and it's reviews she had her mind made up and I'm sure she was as impressed as we were. In trying to figure out something nice to do for my mother who lives alone on Mother's Day I thought I would have a cupcake sent to her from her favorite bakery. Again, she lives alone and obviously is unable to have any visitors at this time so I didn't want to send her a large box of cupcakes because she wouldn't be able to eat them all. When I called to set up the order the man on the phone said "we are a small business that has just been annihilated by a virus. I don't understand why you would think that we would deliver just one cupcake" completely dumbfounded by the lack of customer service and sensitivity. So rude and I will never use this bakery again. Scratch is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant. The pepperjack soup and the zesty jack sandwhich are incredible! Its difficult to find vegetarian options in such a small town--Scratch is a lifesaver. I highly recommend their contactless takeout option during COVID. read more

I have been going to scratch bakery since they were at their first location in Brickervile before moving to Ephrata! They have many yummy and unique cupcake flavors along with some gluten free flavors and a cupcake especially made for dogs! Scratch also catered my wedding with cupcakes and a small cake! They provided everything from setup at my wedding location to the stands the cupcakes were on. Every employee I have met they have always been very kind, helpful, and patient as you pick out your cupcake flavors! The owner of Scratch is also very kind and was so helpful and explained everything when me and my husband sat down with her to tell her the flavors of cupcakes we wanted at the wedding she also explained that we were responsible for bringing the cupcake stands back after the wedding and that they hold a security deposits for them until you return them and they can make sure there is no damage to them and they then refund you the money! Scratch also provides a very cozy setting at their store if you want to stop in for a cup cake or even lunch! They have amazing salads and you can even get your food to go! Would highly recommend Scratch to anyone! read more

We stopped her right as they were about to close up shop for the evening. We had been doing the driving tour of Lancaster county Pennsylvania, and had stopped in Ephrata to walk around a bit. We decided to stop into Scratch as we were getting hungry and wanted something to snack on. We did not really know anything about it when we walked in. Lo and behold we had found an amazing little cupcake shop. I got a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The top was a bit dried out, but as I said this was about fifteen minutes before they would be closing for the evening. The cake itself was super moist. Even with the slight dried out top this was still one of the better cupcakes I have had from a cupcakery. I will definitely be willing to visit again. read more

One time I bought cup cakes some of them taste fresh but the other I could tell it was old. Stopped in for lunch- the wrap I got was tasty, but so small for the price. My lunch was over $9 and I got a small wrap, mini bag of Doritos and a can of soda (that is considered the "meal" deal). Im used to always having leftovers when I go out but I ate this whole wrap and still felt hungry afterwards. Seemed like it was slightly larger than a McDonald's snack wrap. I'd rather pay more for a substantial lunch. Given the atmosphere and the price, I was not expecting a bag of Doritos and a can of coke as part of my meal. Scratch is a beautiful little cupcake shop in the charming town of Ephrata, PA. The building is absolutely gorgeous! It is a beautifully remodeled shop that mixes the old and the new. I love the gold painted tin ceilings! As for the cupcakes, they were delicious. I got a peanut butter lovers and my mother got a salted caramel. I liked her cupcake a little better, as it was a unique flavor. They were both delicious, moist cakes and the buttercream was light, fluffy, and flavorful. My toddler and I absolutely love this place. The cupcakes are well-made and the staff is super friendly, but honestly, the atmosphere is what sold us. I love the outside deck area, especially during the Summer months. The inside is equally as comforting. They have regular tables but also couches to sit and enjoy and converse with family. Scratch made the cupcakes for my wedding, and they were PERFECT. Everyone raved about them, and I know more than a few guests who went back for seconds, and then thirds to take home with them in the wee hours of the morning. I feel like I'm blowing a big secret here (Scratch, please don't listen to this) but the cupcakes were also insanely affordable. The staff was willing to decorate them however I wanted, but the cupcakes themselves were so stunning I just had our florist add a few fresh flowers to the cupcake tower and that was that! I just moved to the area and immediately went to this cute shop that's right down the street from my house. My daughter and I shared the turkey sandwich, which was delicious! It came with your choice of a side and a pickle. Daughter loved the tortellini salad that came with it! We also got cupcakes to take home and they were also delicious!
