What a beautiful cafe in the heart of downtown Lancaster. Just a 2min walk from the Imperial and Holiday Inn. There is a beautiful red brick wall interior with modern gold fixtures and accents. A beautiful fiddle leaf fig tree welcomes you at the door. They serve breakfast till 3pm. It's a great place for your kids too. They have a great kids meal with 3 simple but healthy choices. You can get a deli sandwich (fat chunks of deli meat), grilled cheese or PB&J. You get a bunch of sides with it and the chocolate milk (my kids said) is "incredible"!!! For adults, I would recommend the Main Street breakfast burrito! The zesty sauce is amazing!!! The egg and bagel was ok... I would have preferred the bagel to be toasted (didn't ask) and the egg runny (didn't ask). A spicy aoli or even the zesty sauce would have been great on it. It was just too blend. There is construction out front... but it is definitely worth walking around it! It's open and you definitely need to come check it out! read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the heart of Lancaster. Its origins as a bakery are evident from its delectable assortment of baked goods - cupcakes and cookies the size of a pancake, but their foray into other foods - breakfast and lunch fare - is an overwhelming success. The setting is in the heart of downtown Lancaster. The exterior is easy to miss, delineated by a modest sign near the police station, but interior is inviting, with exposed ceilings and a brick wall. A large chalkboard denotes a wide array of breakfast and lunch foods, served all day. I had the strawberry salad, which was absolutely delectable with a made from scratch (hence the name) dressing. I also had a bite of my daughter's breakfast sandwich, which had a secret sauce that made it scrumptious. I recommend you try this place. read more

So excited that the Lancaster location is open. A great addition to an already busy cafe scene. They make an impressive variety of breakfast sandwiches, wraps, burritos, and so on. Certainly a lot to try on the savory end of the spectrum if you're not the cupcake, muffin, or other sweet snack type. I got the Main Street Morning burrito. The balsamic onions and house sauce really set it apart. I also got a latte which was especially hot, just like I like it. Prices are arguably below other cafes in the city. A quality, cheap place to grab a bite to eat. Happy to have Scratch Bakes within walking distance now. read more

I've never been to the Ephrata location and I visited this location during opening week. What prompted my mid-week visit was a post on their FB page - $1 cupcakes! Seems as though they had over baked as they were still learning supply and demand for Lancaster City (lucky me!) Good location - downtown, walkable from just about anywhere and not too close to some of the other sweet shops. I didn't try any of the menu items, this visit was specifically for cupcakes. Sadly, I was underwhelmed. They all looked so delicious and I picked an assortment of flavors. I was disappointed that some we couldn't tell the difference between and others fell flat on flavor all together. The cakes themselves were inconsistent. Most were over baked and very dry and the one or two that weren't, were lacking the distinct flavor that was described. I was relieved that I only paid half price, I would have been even more disappointed had I spent $24 on a dozen. read more

I have ordered from here before and had a positive experience, but today I received a salad with a moth and a fly. I pleasantly called and requested a refund, but the owner was not willing to even consider that it was possible and tried to blame the delivery driver. The salad was in a sealed container at the bottom of the bag. I would have given the benefit of the doubt, but the customer service response was dismissive and unacceptable. We have used them for business lunches and will no longer after this experience. On a positive note, DoorDash issued a refund after requesting photos. They also gave a credit. read more

I ordered Scratch (Lancaster) for the first time via DoorDash. I've had the Beef Bite before at the Ephrata location and it has always been delicious! Sadly, the bottom of the bread from Scratch (Lancaster) was burnt which made it extremely hard and not appealing. Ordered cupcakes Thursday for Friday pick-up and got email confirmation I can pick up order Friday. 2. Went Friday to find out bakery was closed due to construction. Website didn't indicate this, and I guess no one monitors orders that come in? Called the bakery, went to a full mailbox so I couldn't leave VM. 3. Wrote an email asking for refund. Didn't hear back. Called Monday at 3pm to see what was up. Woman I spoke to never apologized when I outlined the above. I am wildly disappointed. I ordered Doordash from Scratch Bakes, something I do when I am on a deadline. I love their food. The first order arrived incorrect and HALF EATEN. I called them because I know that is not the type of business they conduct. The employee was kind and said he would send along a gift card when I reordered. I refunded it through Doordash and reordered. The second order was incorrect again (but at least it wasn't eaten this time). I called Scratch Bakes again (because wouldn't you want to know?) and the owner answered. He immediately raised his voice-- clearly already upset that I was calling and told me he was never going to send a gift card (which I didn't even bring up). He threatened to BAN me from his store because I dared to complain. He continued to raise his voice and hung up on me. I get that Doordash messed up, but clearly something is going on if they CONTINUE to grab the wrong thing from your store including a half eaten meal. He had an opportunity to fix it (literally an apology would have been fine-- I would have reordered again if that is what had to happen) and instead got nasty. I am sad to say I will not be going to Scratch Bakes anymore and would not recommend them. read more

My family and I really enjoyed our food, we both tried their sandwiches. We were greeted with warm smiles and a great atmosphere from everyone working there. They have a big, easy to read chalk style menu with various sandwich, bagel, and salad options. As soon as you walk in you will also see the line up of delicious cupcakes! Have eaten here many times before. Ordered the wedge salad with no tomatoes. Received one with many tomatoes. The blue cheese dressing does not taste like blue cheese as I have eaten many times before. I also found a hair in my salad, which I will report. I can only assume they are losing money on the Lancaster branch and are trying to recoup as many of their losses as possible.
