I recently tried Lancaster Cupcakes for the first time when my cousin suggested we sign up for their Thanksgiving cupcake decorating class! Upon arrival, we were directed to look for our names to find our seats in their adorable seating area with Instagram-ready decor. Participants were divided into groups of 4 and greeted with delicious strawberry lemonade made with real strawberry puree. We discovered that the majority of people signing up for the class were parents with children, but there were a few other young adults there, too. Our instructor, Tatum, guided our designs, stopping at each table to demonstrate the skills for more complicated designs. We had one frosting bag of each necessary color to share at the table, which meant there wasn't a lot of extra to practice skills with --- we just had to go for it! My first few cupcakes were a little messy, but by the end of the class, it got easier. By the end, we had 6 adorable Thanksgiving themed cupcakes to take home! We couldn't leave without trying some of their other creations, so we also got a pumpkin and a cider donut cupcake, both of which were incredible. The pumpkin was soft and fluffy with perfect cream cheese frosting, and the cider donut included some baked apple, plenty of cinnamon, and a little apple cider donut hole. I'd definitely go back, both just to get cupcakes and to try another decorating class. read more

Oh my! I was introduced to these cupcakes at a friends birthday party. They were brought in from Lancaster to Baltimore, MD. They were packaged in a cupcake case and placed in the traditional pink box. Once we opened the packaging the cupcakes smelled amazing and they were fantastic. Very moist, and flavorful. Their chocolate cake was very rich. My favorite was the traditional chocolate cake with a white buttercream frosting topped with sprinkles. The embellishments were wonderful and added some sparkle. I was never a huge cupcake fan, and where I'm from in NY, there are plenty of "gourmet" cupcake shops. Lancaster Cupcake changed all that. Now I know what a truly fantastic experience a cupcake is meant to be! I love how the selection changes frequently, keeps things fresh and exciting. The cupcakes are always moist, with the cake being not overly sweet to compensate for the sweet icing, the standard of which seems to be a cream cheese type, which I ADORE. The packaging is both efficient and cute, with specific plastic containers and then pink boxes over the plastic to hold larger orders. My favorite flavors so far are the red velvet, a classic, and this strawberry cheesecake one I just recently picked up. The base of the cupcake even has a butter bit of graham cracker crust! Most cupcakes have a bit of filling as well. The inside of the shop is adorable too, lots of pastel pinks, nothing overwhelming. The comfy cafe-type seating is perfect for a chat with a friend over a delicious treat. I also really like the local products they stock as well, and I especially love how they have a bit of their own merch. Love to support small businesses! I'm a big fan of Lancaster Cupcake. I remember my first one like it was a pivotal moment in my life. It was gluten free and vegan, and those qualities were undetectable from a delicious "traditional" cupcake. I was amazed. I have been a frequent customer since. This week I placed two separate orders, the first of which was for a dear friend of mine who lives in an assisted living home. Fortunately, he lives close enough for a free local delivery. I tipped $5 through the site for the delivery driver, and received a confirmation of my order to my email. It would have been great for peace of mind if for gift deliveries there was some kind of confirmation that the order was delivered to the intended person. I don't fault Lancaster Cupcakes for this, but as a customer, it is a feature I would appreciate. I placed my second order for a variety dozen to be shipped to my home in Maryland. Who doesn't need cupcakes whilst being quarantined? They arrived today in an ordinary shipping box which contained an insulated box and a very large gel ice pack. If you are thinking about ordering cupcakes to be shipped, either for a special occasion (they do customize for newborns, birthdays, and other celebrations), or just looking for a cupcake fix outside of Lancaster, I do recommend it. The downsides of doing so are that the shipping costs nearly as much as the cupcakes (flat rate $25 unless you're order is $75+), and the packaging waste when you receive the order. The frozen gel pack is meant to keep the contents at a safe temperature, and to preserve the integrity of the little cakes. But a gel pack every time does feel wasteful, so I may not order cupcakes as often as I *want* cupcakes. I certainly am grateful that I can eat Lancaster Cupcakes without driving 3 hours to get them. read more

From my first visit, I knew I was in love. I had already booked the venue and needed to stop by to get a real perspective on things.
