Prices are somewhat comparable but something's are higher in price and can be found in other stores! If you're a comparable shopper there are better prices out there! Shout-Out to Josh, the BEST Cashier ever! Today after scanning and bagging my large order, I realized I didn't have any cash or charge cards. Fortunately, with no one behind me, JOSH went the extra mile to help figure out a way that I could pay for my order instead of leaving it behind. FYI... I love visiting NJ/PA because Wegmans is my favorite grocery store chain. It is a perfect combination of specialty items, generic/store & name brands, and basic grocery needs. Their pre-made food section and bakery are impressive. My only complaint would be that I don't feel they have the best grocery deals. read more

This is my favorite supermarket in Lancaster, mostly due to the happiness and friendliness of the staff. Every time I come here the staff are cheery, happy to help costumers, and seem to be in high spirits. The products in the store are neatly organized, and the flow of the store is great. The produce is amazing. Whenever I order grocery delivery I've learned to order from Wegmans because the shoppers always bring the best fruit and veggies, I'm guessing because wegmans only has good options. At other markets I often get delivered sour, bruised ir even spoiled produce. The hot food as wegmans is also great, along with their bakery which has pretty great cakes and pastries. I look forward to the holidays to visit family on the East coast AND to stop by my favorite East coast grocery stores. Wegmans is really top of the line when it comes to grocery stores and I really wish we had these or something like them in the Midwest. The grocery and specialty item selection is expansive, the customer service is great and the prices are right on par with other, less nice, grocery stores. I don't know how they do it? This particular location has a great ready made food area including sushi and hot food, a sandwich shop, and a coffee station. With roots in upstate New York, Wegmans is a staple. Definitely glad they have made their way to South Central Pennsylvania. The staff is very kind and helpful. Selection is always top notch. I love Wegman's! This is my go-to for weekly grocery shopping. Their pre-made food is always fresh, and I love stocking up on quick delicious meals. I LOVE their cheese and meats selections. The charcuterie boards are delicious (although a bit pricey). I have also used Wegmans Catering recently for my daughter's birthday party. All of the food we ordered was delicious, fresh and prepared on time. We ordered online a week ahead, and the process was very easy. I had to take a star away due to my lunch experience yesterday. Tried the sub shop for the first time. Positive was how awesome their everything hoagie roll is and I'm sure their other roll options too. However, I will not be going back for more. They are way too stingy on the amount of meat, cheese and toppings they add. They actually weight the meat... I get it from a profit perspective but what they charge for what is given is ridiculous. The turkey meat was low quality, not what I expected from Wegmans. One piece of provolone cheese on a 7 inch hoagie is not enough, couldn't even taste it! Also, the employee who took my order never smiled and was not friendly. The store in Lancaster, Pa was in the worst shape I've ever seen a Wegmans store. I ended up not buying anything and walking out. The produce department, which is usually first rate was in shambles! Empty or half empty bins. Produce that wasn't fresh or questionable was on display. Nothing was level or neat. The deli department had one worker, as I waited another one came out and started slicing cold cuts, for who knows what! That's poor customer service, and unacceptable to me! Worse Wegman's I've ever stepped foot in! Headquarters should send high level management to this location. Friday afternoon Labor Day weekend. Parking lot completley empty; like just another day. Walk in, not greeted with anything- no holiday specials, nothing prepackaged for parties or grilling. Where are all the "gotcha!" items usually lined up at front of store?? I recall days of seafood trucks selling live lobsters on the curb. I seek Wegmans magazine for holiday food ideas. An employee asks another, who asks another, to tell me it's discontinued. Head to bakery looking for Wegman's slider rolls, very confusing set up- some things here, others there, feel like your winding through a puzzle. Employee behind counter, "I'm the bread guy- we don't have Wegman's slider rolls." I'm baffled, really? Later I round corner to find entire shelf, not just slider rolls, but plain, poppy seed, multi-grain- all Wegman's brand! Where am I...Giant?! Move to meat area looking for Wegman's Garlic-Studded Ribeye steaks. Purchased many times before at other locations. Steak is labeled as such, but has a few cloves just stuck on outside rim of fat. Whole point of "garlic-studded" steak is cloves are pressed throughout meat so it's flavored. This looked like they were too lazy to cut slits in meat so just lined garlic around outside instead! Speaking of lazy, many employees looked sloppy- no one you would want touching your food. Only 2 open cashier lines & my items got double scanned, had to go back for credit. Pre-made meals outrageously expensive. $20 for (2) 6" beef kebabs. $10 for side Caesar salad- romaine, croutons, no meat. Prices skyrocketing. Fine when stuff looks appetizing, not when it's slapped together. Higher than restaurant prices, why not just pick up takeout. Horrible! Everything that makes Wegman's great was missing! read more

When COVID19 hit the community the stress of going to the grocery store was real for me. I was fearful of exposure and as someone that usually shops at discount grocers I was concerned for my budget as I was recently laid off. Grocery shopping to me happens one of two ways. I either make a list and try to get everything on it stopping at different discount grocers and only going to chain "regular" grocery stores when I exhausted those options. Or I just go to the discount stores blindly, see what's available and come up with a meal plan on the fly. Since I wanted to limit exposure, I waited till the pantry and fridge selection was pretty bleak. My goal was one stop shopping at a "regular" store that had the best sanitation practices so I could be in and out. Friends on Facebook raved about Wegman's approach to the pandemic so that's where I headed. An in and out experience it was not. I'm not familiar with the layout and some depts did seem to be oddly placed (namely the freezers). The meat selection was overpriced and limited. The produce selection was fantastic, although pricier than what I'm used to. While some grocery staples weren't available I was able to get most of what I needed. As expected some departments lacked selection (soups and cereal), others like pasta seemed abundant. Prices were high for some items, lower for others. Overall I spent more than I normally would but that was to be expected. What impressed me the most was their approach to safety. This was well before harsh restrictions were put in place. They had thought out their own plan for keeping the store clean and safe and fair, limiting some of the more desirable items (toilet paper!!!). You couldn't go down an isle without seeing an associate cleaning or asking if they can help you find anything. Shields and distance markers were already in place at the registers. Carts were wiped down by an employee. Ample wipes and hand sanitizer for public use was present at the entry. What I found the most disappointing of the experience is how little I saved with their "loyalty card" in contrast to what I spent. For a $154 bill I saved less than $1 - which felt like an insult. So while I don't anticipate going there frequently especially now that my beloved discount grocers have followed suit in regards to COVID19 safety, I would make a return shopping trip. read more

Wegmans is the warehouse of grocery stores -- it's enormous, it's cold, and even months after it's grand opening, it's more crowded than Costco on Saturday. They must be doing something right, but after a couple trips here, I still prefer Whole Foods. With a space this big, they're able to carry a wide variety of products and brands. There also are a variety of prepared food and butchery stations -- salad bar, bakery, etc. The seafood market is massive -- an entire wall and kiosk filled with things from the sea. My husband was overwhelmed by the choices. I'm more of a carnivore, and though the meat section was also large, it didn't seem as varied as the fish selection. My favorite find so far has been the Trail Mix station. It's hidden at the end of the cheese section on a little trolley in the middle of the aisle. Grab a container, select your favorite nuts, fruits, and other accouterments and pay by the pound. (Current prize is $7.99.) Try the dried strawberries -- they're delicious! If you're not feeling creative, they have pre-mixed containers on a shelf beneath the bulk stuff. The aisles in Whole Foods are narrow and easily congested, so I do appreciate the nice, wide spaces at Wegmans. It makes it easy to steer around folks who are taking their time browsing or -- like me -- are just trying to get their barrings and navigate their way back to the entrance. There are a TON of check-out lines here, and though the store was crowded, our check-out time was very reasonable. The staff we encountered were mostly stockers who offered to help us find what we were looking for, and the cashier who was upbeat and friendly. It's not going to be my go-to grocery store, but I'll likely continue popping in from time to time. read more

Today is first time back and people are eating bare handed out of bags of grapes and cherries because they are open. I generally like Wegmans food and the food I got from the help-yourself bar was good. I knocked a star off because it's just expensive for no reason, the food didn't taste any better than getting take-out. I do like that Wegman's is similar to Whole Foods and tries to use organic or healthier ingredients. As for the grocery part of the store, I don't generally primarily grocery shop at Wegman's because that place is expensive just for a jar of nuts. If you have the money or the necessity to buy "organic/premium" vegetables, canned goods and goods then you'd really like this place. I love love love this place. Coming from New York where there's plenty of nice grocery stores to choose from this place is actually a step above. (Wegman's was actually started in Buffalo, NY) I saw one of these yelper's reviews saying it was so confusing? It's not at all. Wegman's has quality items that are priced fairly. For instance, tonight I got 3 bundles of hangers for $7 and change. Nice hangers too. (Thick sturdy white plastic hangers) I got a few other things for Easter tomorrow and managed to get everything easily and it's fun to look around. They have quality merch. I've gotten their readymade food before, forget about it -amazing. I got this veggie tray with ranch, -so good. And it lasts all week too. So you're eating healthy delicious vegetables all week long. Nice right? Everyone that works there are so polite and nice. You can tell all the employees actually like working here and care about your experience. In this day and age it's saying a lot to make it a priority to prepare and ensure that your employees make it a good experience for everyone no matter what time of day or how busy they are, right? I made salmon that I got from there last night and it was so amazing. It's funny because it was so good that I didn't wanna eat it all at once so I took a break. (I left the plate of food on the table for later) Well, when Later came I went back to the table and I saw salmon on the floor and my plate was empty.... Yuki ate it! (My 6lbs Yorkie) She's a salmon thief! I ran to her and yelled! She just licked her lips as to mock me! Wegman's is the real deal. I have been coming here since they opened and while ther most notable change has been the beer aisle the things I like are the variety of items such as international foods, unique produce that is not available elsewhere like tropical fruit items, hot peppers and mushrooms. There are specialty tea and herbs, spices and honey choices you cant find elsewhere and they have a well stocked meat case with seafood and sushi made in house. I find the prices to be higher than average but have not been dissatisfied with quality or store cleanliness. I love this supermarket! Great cheese and produce department. The store is spacious and clean. Not always as well stocked as I would like but I make do or return the next day. The employees are fabulous-always helpful and friendly. I like to use the self checkout and if there's a problem (rarely) an employee appears quickly. I love it! My only complaint is the deli section. Every item I usually buy is only the pre-sliced grab-and- go. Awful. Sliced too thick and often dried out on the edges. I have to make the extra trip to a local meat and cheese shop to get what I really want. read more

We don't have Wegman's in Pittsburgh and maybe that's why I love it, but I know I'm not alone in my Wegman's joy. You can spend hours in this place. Their fresh to go food choices are outstanding. I think I raved about their lobster roll, but their Italian sub may be the best I've had in ages. I've on,y stopped into Wegman's for quick items or lunch since we don't live in Lancaster, but I'd definitely be shopping there weekly if I lived there. I recommend their store brands of peanut butter & almond butter and their store brand of sweet bbq potato chips. But today I'm raving about Danny's Favorite (Italian sub): Hot ham, capocolla, salami, provolone, mayo, mustard, and other fixings on the perfect sub roll. So I live in Florida but end up at this Wegman's every time I am in Lancaster (about 3 times a year). Customer Service is excellent. This visit I picked up crab cakes on Christmas Eve, they were so delicious that I went back for more on the 26th (they were closed on Christmas Day). My plan was to carry them back to Florida. The Best By date concerned me so I asked TED for ideas to get these home. He was informative and didn't rush me. In the past, we would travel an hour or so to go to a Wegmans and when we saw one as we traveled we were very happy. But what happened to Wegmans, they opened a store in Lancaster which looks like it is struggling for customers and maybe that is why the Service and Product has really gone down hill. We live about 15 miles away so we don't get there that often and it is starting not to be a good experience at a store that I enjoyed shopping at before. Here are only a few reasons why...First they sell bags and I thought is was a grocery store not a bag store, so they nickel and dime you if everything was good who cares about the nickel and dimes except for Wegmans. Just the other day I went to the store in Lancaster to buy a few cans of Crescent Rounds and other stuff and didn't see them, so I asked one of the employees if they had them and she told me that they did not. I continued to search as they had them in late August but they had expired and told the nearest employee to that area that they were expired in August and also told the front desk. To my surprise, I happily found 3 cans of them, unfortunately they were the same expired cans that I saw in back in August. One can had exploded and the other two were in poor shape, but I gave them to the young lady and asked if they had any more that had not expired. She checked and told me no. There were several other things that if I were the manager would be corrected. As I was leaving I stopped by the front desk and spoke to a young lady there and she seemed to get it and reacted accordingly. She said the dairy or grocery people had left for the day, told her I understand after all it was almost 3 o'clock in the afternoon and they need to get home. I really did not understand but she was trying and wanted to give her some positive feedback. She promised that they would call me tomorrow, October 31st, but she probably forgot they it was Halloween so maybe they took the holiday off as I still have not received a call from anyone. This is only a small part of my terrible experience at Wegmans. I told some of my friends and they can not believe it. I am making a copy of this note to try to get someone who can fix this Wegmans store. Hope someone can help the store and the manager at that store. read more

Wegmans has become my favorite grocery store. I usually pretty much spend my grocery dollars in the produce market. My guess is that the produce market is the loss leader to get people in the store to purchase their more high-end premade meals. However, for produce, they are cheaper than other local grocery stores. For example at the time of writing asparagus from Giant to Weiss to Walmart is $3.99 a bunch, and at Wegmans, $2.99. Brocolli everywhere else is $1.89 a pound. Wegmans is still $1.49 a pound. Cauliflower by the head is the same price but Wegman's cauliflower is twice the size. That and the atmosphere beats Walmart any day of the week. read more

Yes the place looks amazing, like the Grand Central Station - even for Lancaster - for groceries with people pouring in and out looking hungry and needy but leaving with carts full of stuff. We joined them and remained in the 'restaurant' area as we didn't need overpriced groceries, so we settled for overpriced 'get-it-yourself' food. I tried the Asian bar of which I scooped up some fried rice and General Tso's chicken (disgusting!) and it was about 10, or so bucks. My wife and children had fries and tenders as well as a sandwich. Grand total...over 30 bucks worth of mediocre food! I was very disappointed in the acquired bout from this place. PLEASE GO TO THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND SKIP WEGMANS FOR TAKEOUT FOOD! This Wegmans does not compare to the Wegmans in Hunt Valley. The layout of the store is quite confusing and the staff not as friendly. I also found that Wegmans is discontinuing their Soft Drink line.Their Soda and flavored sodas were the best. If you want a "decent " pizza go to Dominoes or some other low quality pizza place. Wegman's used to make a good pizza until they changed their ovens. Evidently they couldn't keep up with demand so the installed inferior commercial ovens and now the pizza tastes like the box it came in for $15.00!!! While in town for work I was staying at the Residence Inn on top of the hill and was told by everyone that I needed to shop at Wegmans. Being from the Midwest I had never shopped here but heard nothing but wonderful things about it. I found the place so gigantic it was almost overwhelming. I felt like it was very difficult to find things and at times I would find the same exact item just a different brand 5 isles from each other. I found the place very confusing. Theres obviously so much food, and so many options here but the layout seemed awful. I was so excited to check out this new location because for years now, I have been a HUGE fan of Wegmans bulk loose-leaf tea selection. It is unparalleled in quality and price, and is far better than most loose-leaf tea stores in the U.S. And it has a self-service station so you can buy as much or as little as you want. Well, much to my disappointment, I found that this store doesn't have a bulk section and all, and doesn't sell any loose-leaf tea at all. Their tea selection too, which I checked out, is garbage...just mainstream tea bag brands, nothing special, and not good prices either. I explored the rest of the store thoroughly and it's a huge disappointment. The produce section, which is probably the most important thing to me in a supermarket, is poor. All of the produce is shipped in from far away, and the prices are nothing special. Some items are ridiculous. $2.00 for a single blood orange? No thank you. There was almost nothing in the produce section that I can't get elsewhere for cheaper. Even the humble Weis market has a much better selection of "global" produce, especially the stuff catering towards hispanic culture. The seafood section, which I looked at thoroughly, was an extreme disappointment. Prices are very high, and it's all the same boring fish you can get at any store. If you want good seafood, go to the nearby Asian Center Supermarket on Bennett ave, which recently opened up. It will blow your mind, both with price and quality. The only item worth mentioning in the seafood department, and actually, the only item we bought (I went here with both my parents) on our exploratory visit, was a thing of smoked mackerel -- good quality and good price -- but a single good item is not enough to bring me in the door. The chesee section is okay. But we prefer shopping at Mandros, on Lemon street near Charlotte, in Lancaster, as well as at S. Clyde Weaver's, which has a physical store as well as a stand at Central market. The prices and selection on imported cheeses here weren't better enough to "wow" me into wanting to prefer coming out here to going to our usual sources. The non-perishable sections of the supermarket are disappointing. We walked down aisle after aisle and found little special. Most of the stuff we would want to buy, can also be found at Weis Markets or Giant. There's a tiny section of imported European goods, and it has little selection and poor prices. Compare with going to ALDI; ALDI mostly sells its own generic brand, but it has a much better selection of some items and its prices are unbeatable, especially on things like imported chocolates. There is nothing this store has going for it. I don't recommend it. Depending on what you're looking for, I recommend any number of the other alternatives I discussed above. If this store adds a bulk loose-leaf tea section like I have found in some of its other stores, it will gain me and my family as a customer. I'm very upset that they didn't provide this in this store...it's the #1 thing I like about the Wegmans chain and I think it is a tremendous loss to the community that they have chosen not to include this section in this newly-opened store. read more

Wegmans used to be good but these days, they are not offering the same quality nor value. We were in Lancaster for a college event and had some time to kill. Went inside to pick up prepared food and coffee but nothing looked worth what they are charging so pretty much left. If they offered prepared food that looked amazing, it would have perhaps been worth it but it did not look anything great. Their meat looked scary.
