With roots in upstate New York, Wegmans is a staple. Definitely glad they have made their way to South Central Pennsylvania. The staff is very kind and helpful. Selection is always top notch. It's fun to leave room for something you've never tried before: Dragonfruit, Lobster Mac and Cheese, or Granola.

I had to take a star away due to my lunch experience yesterday. Tried the sub shop for the first time. Positive was how awesome their everything hoagie roll is and I'm sure their other roll options too. However, I will not be going back for more. They are way too stingy on the amount of meat, cheese and toppings they add. They actually weight the meat... I get it from a profit perspective but what they charge for what is given is ridiculous. The turkey meat was low quality, not what I expected from Wegmans. One piece of provolone cheese on a 7 inch hoagie is not enough, couldn't even taste it! Also, the employee who took my order never smiled and was not friendly. I would rather go to a locally owned sub shop and get a sandwich that is stuffed with higher quality meat and cheese for half the cost.

What is this magical place!! We have nothing like it on the west coast. Imagine every food... sushi, cheese, meats, specialty foods under one roof! Seriously I could have spent all day there!! If you are a foodie this is a must visit. It's a grocery store on steroids!

Beyond just being a grocery store, Wegman's offers made-fresh sushi, pizza, subs, and more. The Wegman's subs are my personal favorites. The ingredients are top notch, but the secret is in the bread. The "Everything White" is the best bread choice, in my opinion. And don't forget to ask for the special Wegman's oil on your sandwich!

Everyone beware. COVID is still at the hospitals and this place is AWFUL. At the start of mandatory masks this place didn't care. NO stars. Today is first time back and people are eating bare handed out of bags of grapes and cherries because they are open. No one correcting anybody for both of these offenses , but the hospital is full of elderly with covid today.

Disappointed in their cereal. This can't all be from settling.

When COVID19 hit the community the stress of going to the grocery store was real for me. I was fearful of exposure and as someone that usually shops at discount grocers I was concerned for my budget as I was recently laid off. Grocery shopping to me happens one of two ways. I either make a list and try to get everything on it stopping at different discount grocers and only going to chain "regular" grocery stores when I exhausted those options. Or I just go to the discount stores blindly, see what's available and come up with a meal plan on the fly. Since I wanted to limit exposure, I waited till the pantry and fridge selection was pretty bleak. My goal was one stop shopping at a "regular" store that had the best sanitation practices so I could be in and out. Friends on Facebook raved about Wegman's approach to the pandemic so that's where I headed. An in and out experience it was not. I'm not familiar with the layout and some depts did seem to be oddly placed (namely the freezers). The meat selection was overpriced and limited. The produce selection was fantastic, although pricier than what I'm used to. While some grocery staples weren't available I was able to get most of what I needed. As expected some departments lacked selection (soups and cereal), others like pasta seemed abundant. Prices were high for some items, lower for others. Overall I spent more than I normally would but that was to be expected. What impressed me the most was their approach to safety. This was well before harsh restrictions were put in place. They had thought out their own plan for keeping the store clean and safe and fair, limiting some of the more desirable items (toilet paper!!!). You couldn't go down an isle without seeing an associate cleaning or asking if they can help you find anything. Shields and distance markers were already in place at the registers. Carts were wiped down by an employee. Ample wipes and hand sanitizer for public use was present at the entry. What I found the most disappointing of the experience is how little I saved with their "loyalty card" in contrast to what I spent. For a $154 bill I saved less than $1 - which felt like an insult. So while I don't anticipate going there frequently especially now that my beloved discount grocers have followed suit in regards to COVID19 safety, I would make a return shopping trip.

I generally like Wegmans food and the food I got from the help-yourself bar was good. I knocked a star off because it's just expensive for no reason, the food didn't taste any better than getting take-out. I do like that Wegman's is similar to Whole Foods and tries to use organic or healthier ingredients. As for the grocery part of the store, I don't generally primarily grocery shop at Wegman's because that place is expensive just for a jar of nuts. If you have the money or the necessity to buy "organic/premium" vegetables, canned goods and goods then you'd really like this place. Personally, I don't have enough money each week to be spending $75 just for a few items

Fantastic store, food, service. Great ambience, great cafe large enough for all the friends to get together, instead of my house.

Ask the Community - Wegmans

Do they do gift cards?

Yes. I believe that they do.

Is this a good place to buy in bulk? Like bringing in your own container?

Roy is correct. It's not a place to buy in bulk. I agree that it is a higher end supermarket, I believe its not as expensive as Whole Foods. Its a great place to shop...give it a try.

Since it's been some time since I last shopped here, it was a treat browsing all the vendor stands and seeing what foods are available. As a garden/flower enthusiast, you know I had to check out the flower stands like Perfect Pots and Inspirational Blossoms, both with fresh blooms. For lunch, after a taste test, I opted for Soulcialze, which provided generous portions of mac n cheese, collards, beef brisket, and cornbread. Tables are provided for lunch or snacks, but we had to wait a few minutes because none were available. At Lancaster Central, you can expect a friendly atmosphere in this beautiful historic building, where the local community shops and supports. I usually secure parking via parking apps at the Hager lot or one of the two nearby parking garages.

"For it's always just a short walk To the oldest established…read morepermanent floating Crap game in New York" (Guys and Dolls) Well, we didn't exactly have a short walk to the oldest established permanent Farmer's Market in the United States. That's because on our visit, three of the parking garages bordering the market were full, and by the time we found street parking (you'd better polish up your parallel parking skills) it was close to a 30-minute stroll to this historic landmark. The market goes way back--all the way to 1730--when local farmers rolled into town with whatever they'd harvested and sold it in what was then just an open field in the center of the growing community. Today, it is home to over 65 vendors selling fruits & vegetables, meats, poultry, fish & cheeses, fresh baked bread, pretzels, pierogis, handmade dishes, smoothies, flowers, hot coffee, sweet treats, and even pickles. We had a blast wandering through the crowded aisles and picking up a few odds and ends. If you love jerky and meat sticks (as I do), you will walk out with a ton of goodies (as I did).

Very clean, good location and plenty of comfortable, outdoor seating. However the prepared foods are really lacking, especially compared to other Whole Foods. No sandwiches at all and sad pizza. However the Greek-style and salad bars are excellent and a decent value. Again, with a caveat: they use sunflower instead of olive oil. Why?? They have their own brand of excellent olive oil, why wouldn't they use that on their dolmas? Such a weird decision. It's not like you need the prepared foods to be shelf stable. Of course it tastes just like sunflower oil instead of olive oil. Sad. Otherwise the dolmas are really good, not dry or rubbery like they can be. Changing out the oil brought the flavor up from a 4 to a 7. The place is pretty small, maybe half the size of a typical grocery store. The alcohol section is tiny and picked through, The freshest breads sold out. Even saw a guy buy out their entire stock of 3 12-packs of farmhouse ale. If the place was bigger then they could have the foot traffic to offer more prepared foods and a larger stock. There's really no deli section, butcher or seafood section. They got rid of their house brand cold press juices which were excellent and priced well compared to the competition. The actual whole foods (cereals and beans) was not stocked for the most desirable stuff like black rice. Maybe 20% out of stock and the other 10% was clearly not stocked in a very long time. They did have buckwheat groats at $5.50/lb though which is fantastic. I think the Greek food and salad bar is the only redeeming quality because it's a good price and was fresh and stocked. Just be sure to poor off the oil and add your own olive oil and it tastes much better that way. If you're careful and observant you can find some good deals and rare products not stocked anywhere else.

Luckily, I had an event close to Lancaster that allowed me to make this quick stop to check this place out. It's located next to a Disney outlet store, too! Pepperidge Farm is a classic snack staple in many households, and I was really excited to see what offerings and discounts they had. They had gift baskets, bulk items, discounted Goldfish crackers, cookies and more! My favorite area was the freezer section, where they had puff pastry sheets in bulk (at a fairly good discount), frozen soups, lasagnas, and more. If you end up purchasing their Pepperidge Farm reusable bag and bring it back for future purchases, you get 15% off each time (on top of all discounts). There's plenty of good deals here, as I maybe got about 5 boxes of puff pastry sheets and 5 bags of cookies + goldfish for about $35! The staff here are super friendly and show you around, and there's a lot of interesting flavors and even gift baskets for people to check out. As you walk around, you forget that Pepperidge Farm also makes things like stuffing, bread, and other items. Everything is neatly placed, and it's super relaxing to walk around and browse everything. Check it out if you can!
