We used Orca for two moves in one month (joining households) and they were terrific. They were so personable and truly seem to enjoy what they do. It's clearly a family run and operated outfit and they handle things with such care. At one point, I "joked" and said I thanked God for people like them that like to do this stuff... because I'd be crying. Carlos was terrific about communicating and at one point, they tried everything within their power to get my sofa (which was about one inch too long) downstairs- around a tight corner. I've seen previous movers in similar situations just look at it and not even try. We found ourselves backed up against a time wall the following day, needing to get out of our other place - and had a small dump run. They were awesome and just charged a very reasonable removal fee which included their dump fee. Let me start by saying.. Don't let having 4 reviews only stop you from hiring this company. I have done my share of moving. Texas to Cali to Washington and many local moves. Every single time I move, something gets damaged. There hasn't been once where I moved and nothing got damaged. I called around and decided to hire Orca Expeditors and talked to the owner(Carlos). He was very professional and communicated very well. I am happy to say for the first time in my life, NOTHING WAS DAMAGED!!!!! I MEAN NOTHING!! Not only nothing was damaged, they moved it quick! I lived in 3200sq.ft. house with close to 150 boxes and many large furniture. They took care of it within 6 hours!! How incredible is that??? Another thing, I called everywhere and they were ALL expensive as hell! Their excuses were that it's a moving season. Not Orca Expeditors. They quoted me super low. I can't be more happier with their service. If you are looking for very nice priced, perfect move then don't wait. You have to call them and book it. I hired them to help move the furniture from one house to another in Tacoma about 15 minutes apart, and also to remove a half a garage's worth of junk. I worked out all of the details with Carlos over Yelp and they showed up on time on the day we agreed upon and got to work immediately moving the furniture. They were friendly, worked really fast, and took good care of my stuff. I had a bed and a couch that were too large to move down the stairs so they took them apart and then reassembled them in the new house. Carlos and Jose emptied our POD for us in University Place in record time and then came over to Mason County on another day (with two things from the POD we needed in Mason County) and loaded up two truck loads of furniture there and unloaded in University Place. They were very fast and hard-working, not taking a break even when we said they should. On the day of, we told them they could come up to an hour before the scheduled time, and they showed up 30 minutes early, getting the job done below the estimated time. They were very courteous and nice, and were priced extremely competitively. So why the low score? We labeled every box with the room it goes in, and put signs up around the house giving directions to every room, to ensure every box would end up in the correct room. However, one of the two movers (the father of the other) either had dementia or didn't speak any English at all. During the move, I noticed him putting one or two boxes in the wrong place. However, after all was said and done, it turned out A THIRD of our boxes ended up in the wrong room. And they weren't just off by one room; they were scattered randomly around the house. Mistakes happen, but come on, that's unacceptable. It couldn't have been due to laziness, because some of the boxes that belonged downstairs ended up upstairs. In fact, I find it hard to believe it was due to not speaking English; even if he CAN'T READ AT ALL, he could still match the letters on the boxes to the letters on the signs and find the correct rooms. I have a back injury that makes it impossible to lift heavy boxes, so this caused us a lot of undue stress and extra work for us. Unfortunately, despite being so nice and hard working, we would not use these guys again. [Edit] In response to the comment from Carlos: It wasn't 3 boxes, it was ONE THIRD (~15) of our boxes. The rest of the comment must be about someone else; we had no landlord, nor a barn, and paid for ourselves (even leaving a tip). read more

I had a small job. A heavy mattress in a box to go upstairs and be placed on the bed frame. Carlos saw the task thru opening box and packaging until the mattress began to take shape and placed it on the bed frame. We also had a couch to dispose of they took a minute while the cat found another place to be. Reasonable price and they were able to fit us in between other commitments. I hired Carlos very last minute to move my Mother in law, he got back to me very quickly with a quote that was reasonable and was able to get us booked for the following week. He was on time, careful with her possessions, and made sure that everything was where she wanted it to be.
