I think of it more like home cooked food that you can purchase on the street. I say home cooked because all you have to do is meet the owners, Jose and Sonia, and you will see that they are cooking for their family -- which includes every customer. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, the cooking area is visible and clean, there are separate grills and utensils for cooking pork, the seating area, like the cooking area, is immaculate, the service is friendly and personable. That's home cooking and what you can expect at Maravilla's. Today I had Sopa de pata and it was amazing. It reminded me of the Jamaican version of this soup that I grew up with. This soup takes hours to prepare and the perfectly seasoned and cooked meats, vegetables and broth reflected this investment of life energy. I have been to Maravilla's many times and experienced their delicious food and great service, but this meal reminded me of home and compelled this review. Thank you Sonia and Jose for treating me and all of your customers like family.

The price is good for the amount of food you get. The service is quick and staff is always friendly. The self-serve bar with the optional toppings is where they lose a star. I've seen people use the same tongs for all the toppings and even reach in with their hands. I'm often deterred from getting anything from that area because of this.
